Sometimes the past gets left behind. But sometimes it seeks you out And starts preparing your grave.
Darcy Hunt is no stranger to pain. Eighteen years ago, she and her little sister were kidnapped while on a family camping trip and imprisoned in an abandoned castle. Only Darcy walked away.
Now a Special Agent with the FBI, she spends her days chasing the worst that humanity has to offer. Her nights are spent beating back the growing shadows of her past.
Her newest case confronts her with the gruesome hanging of a man outside of town. When another victim is found murdered in the same fashion, Darcy must call on every shred of instinct and training to track him down. And as the killer shows no signs of slowing his murderous spree, Darcy will have to fight to even keep the case on her desk.
Some kill for pleasure But some kill for the past

-Persistent fatphobia (present in first book, doubled down in second) -Copaganda. In this one the MC punches a rescued victim in the face after cutting him down from his noose, then basically high fives her partner. Granted, the guy was a scumbag, but it is not cute, it brings her down to their level. -Extremely farfetched motive. The killer is not even the victim, but someone twice removed and not shown to be especially unhinged before this incident. The mastermind is a casual friend of the victim who feels guilty enough about not doing even more at the time, to ask her lover, who never even knew the victim, to carry out serial killings? -Misuse or misspelling of words/phrases (not a huge deal, but noticeable when it's more than one or two. Two that annoyed me were to "pour" over a document and the use of "crocodile tears" when someone was crying sincerely. -Era/timeline misses. One character was 40 but was said to be watching Criminal Minds in high school (so at least 22-25 years ago). CM debuted in 2005. There was another one about music that I had earlier written off but later seemed like part of a lazy pattern.

The story is good, but as someone who lives in the area where this book takes place there are a lot of errors in the things that are called out. For starters Syracuse NY is referenced to as the ‘Capital Region’. The Capital region of NY is the Albany area. At one point Saratoga Springs is called Sarasota Springs. She talks about Bombers being a well known sandwich shop, Bombers is famous for burritos not sandwiches. Arbor Hill where she visits Hess’s ex girlfriend is not the kind of neighborhood anyone would want to walk around or feel safe visiting someone, a LEO would not be welcomed in that area. I feel if you are going to cal out legit places or locations in a book please do more research.
I’ve been reading this series, and while I like the characters and the plot, I’m finding more and more inconsistencies in her writing. Small things, perhaps, but things that make you stop and go, “ wait.. what?” One example is this: a man has been kiidnapped and his hands handcuffed behind his back. In the next paragraph, he vomits and “wipes his mouth with the back of his hand…” . Have you ever tried that? I found several of these inconsistencies. It detracts from the plot, for me. The other problem I have is she tends to repeat parts of her background repeatedly, much more so than is necessary to follow the story from book to book.
I loved the story! It encompassed the first book in this series and leads us to the next one. I wait anxiously for the continuing story of Darcy's life!
This is the 2nd in the series about Darcy Hunt, who is an FBI Special Agent. I would advise that if you want to be surprised in the first book, that you read that first. This gave a lot of recaps and really told you who the killer was in the first. So, read that first..
In this one, Darcy is surprised when she finds out that her best friend, Skylar (who is also an FBI agent) has been assigned as her partner. This is great news, but what isn't at this time is her boss is on temporary leave due to his health and they have a new boss for the temporary time. She is Veronica Morrison and she wants to make sure she makes an impression on her bosses and her agents. But, her way of doing things, is not setting well with Darcy. It seems that Morrison wants to close all the cold cases first and takes Darcy and Skylar off of the case they are presently working.
But Darcy and Skylar don't want to give up the case as everyday more men are being killed and they know that the killings will go on. So, they make a plan to work the case unknown to their new boss. But, will they sacrifice their careers to try to break this case?
Another good one that you will enjoy. I am on to the next one! Again, I loved this one, but felt it did include too many recaps from the 1st book and would really spoil it for you if you hadn't read the first one!
Her Final Wish is the second book in the Darcy Hunt FBI Mystery Series by Eva Sparks - I binged the entire collection which proved to be quite gripping reading. FBI Agent Darcy Hunt is not your typical crime-fiction lead ... she’s layered, haunted by past traumas, and yet still fiercely determined to seek justice. Each book plunges readers into intricate cases involving missing persons, political intrigue, and chilling criminal minds - all while weaving in Darcy’s personal struggles and evolving relationships. Ms. Sparks’ writing shines with taut and dynamic storytelling that kept me turning pages late into the night, and yet still rich enough with emotion that made me care about the people behind the crimes. The investigative details felt authentic without bogging down the storyline/s, and the twists are clever enough to have kept me guessing. A binge-worthy FBI thriller series that delivers both heart-pounding suspense and a heroine you’ll want to root for from book one to the latest release. Happy Reading…
This book had me hooked. I love Darcy and as her character evolves shes even more relatable. Her and Skylar having more interactions added more to the book as well. I really enjoyed how they highlight what happens with cold cases and also how things get warmer and how they can go from absolutely nothing to truly believable connections and threads to the suspect.
Now for some spoilers or questions I am anxiously looking for in the next book: What in the heck happened after they got the suspect in custody? Whats going to happen to the last of the 6 original perpetrators? What happens with the poor victim of the original crime in college? And Lila omg Lila I need answers!
I didn’t need all of the recaps from the first book, I felt like there was a lot of unnecessary fillers. I get there was a period of time in between the books, but I didn’t need to be reintroduced to characters or revisit the night her and her sister were taken in detail. I think the story line was good, but there were WAY too many characters to keep up with, who weren’t of any importance. The first book had me, this was good but I would be lying if I said I wasn’t slightly disappointed. This one I had no guesses as to who was the killer and it kind of took some of the fun out of it for me. Waiting for the 3rd to be delivered!
I liked Her Final Wish a little more than the first book The Girl in Room 16. The prologue grabbed my attention and I was engaged till the end. I figured out who the killer was from the start. I didn't figure out why till the third murder. I didn't have all the fine details but I got the gist of what was happening and why. In my opinion there was suspense. My biggest complaint is I found a lot of repetition of things not needed. In my opinion Eva Sparks puts too many recaps from previous book, I didn't feel they were needed.
In this book Darcy is stilling thinking of what happened 18 years ago. But little does she know her best friend Skylar will be working right along side of her. The new boss who is helping out wants all the cases unsolved solved. But Skylar is having Darcy help her on a case.
This book was Darcy and Skylar finding out who is murdering men with hanging them naked on trees and spray painting their eye sockets black and private parts.
I enjoyed this book. But it might also be because I like the mystery to the series. Overall I feel like it’s criminal minds feel. 😂
I felt this book had an interesting subject. It makes you think about how far you would go to right a wrong. The only thing I absolutely need to see changed is the stereotypical description of the only mentioned black person in the book. Please stay away from compliments about the black man's skin color and his white teeth. At least I am hoping it was meant to be a compliment. I almost stopped reading the book.
I had never heard of Eva Sparks, where has this woman been hiding? I can’t put her books down! My only wish is there was more of them. I wake up during the night because I hear her books calling to me! Amazing story teller, sometimes with other authors I can kind of tell where the story is going and how it is going to end, but not with an Eva Sparks novel, she keeps u guessing until the end! Give her books a try, I promise you will not be disappointed!
I find this series great fun even if the "murders" are a bit brutal. I am enjoying the characters and the development of each as the series continues. The stories don't overlap but the characters do...I guess with the world upside down for me, this gives me comfort of some sort.
I was lost at first by the prologue and the finally was an interesting turn of fate...I am looking forward to the next installment and no doubt, Darcy and I will continue on.....
My wife had bought this book since she loves thrillers but was worried the subplot of a kidnapping during a camping trip would be too much right before our own camping trip so I took a crack at it instead.
Not the best written at times, but an engaging plot, that 3/4 of the way through I wasn’t sure where the book was headed. That was until the author basically told you exactly what was going to happen killing all the suspense for the rest of the book.

Her Final Wish(Darcy Hunt FBI Mystery Suspense Thriller Book 2)
OMG!!!!!!!!! I loved this book. It was amazing and terrifying. I hope that Darcy's boss comes back because I don't like Veronica Morrison, I am also happy that Darcy's best friend, Skylar is her new partner, I can't wait to see what else they solve together.
Another great mystery to read. Great read keeps you on the edge of your seat. Don't skip a page of this book. Darcy gets a new helper and she couldn't be more pleased. Her interim boss complacates her schedule and she and the new partner do a work around. You will enjoy the twist and turns this take to get some resolve. Now get to it!
Book #2 Darcy Hunt. I requested all of these from my local library and they were all approved for purchase. It's been fun to read the series quickly. I enjoyed the on going story line with Darcy and Marvin Hess being interwoven with a current case. The parts where she was recapping the first book were a big clunky but all and all a great book and I can't wait to read #3
I quickly fell in love with book #1 in the series. Book #2 was a good read as well. I will say, this second book was more slowly paced compared to the first one. But we learn a lot more about Darcy and those closest to her. And there was plenty of action in the end. Maybe I'd round down to a 4.5, but it was still a worthwhile read for me.
Her Final Wish (Daddy Hunt FBI Mystery Suspense Thriller Book 2)
I have read the book before this one! It seemed to me that a lot of words were used by this author to say the same thing in a different way; however, this book was not that way! Excellent read! I liked this book better! I can't wait until she finds her sister! Hopefully in book 3!
Darcy Hunt is at it again. The new boss is out to get herself promoted and only worried about getting old cases closed but Darcy is determined to work on the active case at hand. Will she be able to find the serial killer before he strikes again. I couldn’t put this book down I had to find out what was going to happen.
I always wonder if the second book will hold up to the first one. This one did!
The main character is interesting and real. I'm hoping that in the coming books we will get some resolution on her past. I worry that with no resolution, Darcy will begin to feel stagnant.
A good mystery thriller! Fast paced and unputdownable. I've really come to loving this series and can't wait to start the next book. Darcy takes chances just like any other great detective. It gets her into trouble most times but inevitably helps here solve the problem and then the case. Many thanks to Eva Sparks for her books.
Great Darcy Hunt book. Builds upon the mystery of Darcy's sister Lila, while at the same time, working on a horrific case and dealing with a new boss. I'd like to see more of the story focus on the kidnapping of Lila, but this may be slowly revealed in the coming stories.
I love this series! It really holds my interest. I have trouble sticking to a book but the Darcy Hunt series keeps me reading. I read a review about the inconstancy of the locations. It is fiction so I am not concerned about that. I am not going to use her book as a guide if I visit those locations. Just read and enjoy!
Yet again- amazing! I will say…this boom is more about a murderor and how Darcy found him. You don’t dive much into the cliffhanger they left you in book one. You get more details and see insights into the cliffhanger, but nothing that leaves you as jaw droppingly shocked as last time. It definitely is building suspense throughout to what is to come.
I loved it! Lots of suspense, twists and turns and Darcy and Skylar have their hands full trying to find out who their serial killer is. Who is it and why are they killing. Have fun with it! I can't wait for the next book!
This the second book in the series I have read the plot is really good but again too much padding about Darcys feelings etc you just get to a good bit and it starts to waffle I think more about Erica so you really felt for her would of helped I think
I’m hooked on this series but this one was a little more gruesome than the first. But the story was great and I love how it’s a different story every book but also another story that is drawn out over all the books in the series.
Wow! I am waiting to see when Darcy finally sees Lila, her sister. I find it fascinating how the author is spinning the story and is able to keep the mystery about Lila going.
I enjoyed the first book in this series more than this one. I don't feel like the two female FBI agents are very authentic in their behaviors. It's distracting to the storyline.
