California Crush #3

Do Not Disturb

Rate this book
If pining was an Olympic event, I'd win the gold.

The minute Charles walks into my life, I'm done for. He's everything I'm not- focused, serious, career-oriented. He's also gorgeous, intelligent, and sexy as all heck. I'm allergic to relationships and my idea of a quiet night is going to only one bar. But I can't resist my handsome coworker, even if he's clearly not interested.

What's a guy to do when the only person who makes me want more doesn't feel the same? Become his friend, of course. With me by his side, I'll show Charles all there is to love about his new life in Southern California, and if I'm lucky, he'll take down his Do Not Disturb sign and let me in. As he uncovers his inner femme, I discover that winning his heart is a challenge I'm definitely up for.

Do Not Disturb is an opposites attract, so much pining, casual becoming serious, and discovering one's inner diva MM romance. It is book 3 in the California Crush series, featuring endless sunny days, long stretches of beach, steamy nights, a colorful cast of characters, and men falling in love like waves crashing in the ocean. Book your vacation and meet the men of Hillcrest Hideaway.

Really enjoyed this book of pinning, self-discovery, acceptance, and slow burn.

London didn’t know what the fuss was all about with all his friends falling in love, and settling down. Until the adorable buttoned-up Charlie walks in. He is captivated by him. Unfortunately, Charlie shows no interest.

Until one night, he gives London hope that in time he’ll want more too.

What ensues is a friendship, one built on being a safe place and a cheer squad. One that brings them closer together.

This low angst story has two super sweet guys who love everything about other. It was so great to see Charlie’s confidence grow, and watch London support him along the way.

London may be the single sweetest hot-guy I've ever read. He's understanding, patient, supportive, genuinely nice and, of course, the earlier mentioned hot as freaking hell. Charles is nice and everything, but London is honestly the biggest unicorn I've ever read. Neither of them look like the guy on the cover.

This is on me. I knew this series was not for me and most probably this author isn't either. I read the prequel and the first book in the series and I really disliked the writing and thought the characters were pretty bland. I said no more. I held strong and did not read the second book and then this one came out. I was in a bit of a slump and I kept seeing this everywhere. The summary did not sound so bad so I decided to give it a shot.

It wasn't my best idea but it wasn't entirely the books fault as I pretty much forgot about most of the characters from the previous books in the series. I went back to the summaries and my own reviews and in one I even wondered would London and Charlie get their own stories. Except I did not wonder would they have a story together. That is probably what happens when you skip the second book in the series.

As for the actual story, from the first scene we are thrown in the thick of it. London pinning for Charles across the room, finally making his move only for Charles to let him down easily because he needs time to figure out who he really is. Because unlike the outgoing, confident London who has had a lot of experience living life to the fullest and sleeping around, Charles is the complete opposite filled with insecurities, never fitting in, being shy when it comes to interacting with people and has trouble making any meaningful connections.

Still, London is content to wait for as long as it needs and be Charles' friend in the meantime. Accepting Oscar's (and not London's which author seemed to have forgotten) invitation to a drag show sets Charles on a journey of self discovery. And London is there every step of the way offering his encouragement and support. Of course the two of them don't stay friends for long and their relationship progression since that point happens pretty fast and everything could not be any more perfect.

All that said, I really did not care for either Charles or London's characters. Charles struggle was real but I really had trouble connecting to him. London was entirely too perfect, which did not make for an exciting characterization. Their relationship was like a fairy tale which made for a boring read.

The epilogue tries to set up Oscar's book and his story comes out of nowhere. One mention of Oscar looking sad instead of happy go lucky does not make for an appropriate foreshadowing. I really don't find myself interested in his story line, especially not in this author's hands. I will try to stay strong this time.

Themes: dual POV, friendship, opposites attract, femme character

So….I didn’t like this. Everything I liked about this series originally seemed to be forgotten. The cast of characters we have grown to love was barely there and flamingo gate was only mentioned once. I wanted the hotel family shenanigans, but instead this seemed like a fluff piece about Charles’s journey of discovering things about himself. Which I love for him, but it completely took over the story. And London was just the perfect, patient guy, and everything was wonderful. We don’t get to be a part of the epic pinning at all. We go from pinning, to friends, to boyfriends in the blink of an eye and then love declarations and I’m like, wait what? There was no development of Charles and London’s relationship and it left me feeling not much of anything for either of them.

I also feel like this series was set up to be longer with Fitz and Atticus and Zane and the chef who has been pinning since book one (who wasn’t even in this book wtf?), but now we are ending with Oscar and we get some BS line about Fitz and Atticus being friends in the epilogue. What seemed like a fun found family Series has turned into undeveloped fluff pieces. I really hope Oscar gets an epic story because I’ve been looking forward to his HEA. But based on the last two books I’m not sure if we will get it.

When Charles moved to San Diego to work for Atlas, he expected a fresh start and some glorious days in the sun. But nothing prepared him for meeting London, Rome's enigmatic and gorgeous brother, or for some self-discovery.

London has made his feelings for Charles very clear. But he respects the boundaries Charles establishes while he begins is journey of self-discovery and getting in touch with his love of self-expression via lace, makeup, and pole dancing.

While their romance may be a slow burn, what we get in return is a foundational base of friendship, respect, and security. London shows Charles how supportive he is of his journey, while reassuring him that he's willing to wait for him to be ready to take the next step in their relationship. London knows what he wants, and he wants a future with Charles.

I love this so, so much. They're open and hones with each other every step of the way. And Charles grows into himself, expressing his wants and desires with confidence. And I just love their dynamic. I love how they build their relationship over time, and are comfortable and confident communicating with each other. All of that just brings me so, so much joy!

Ahh!! This book was perfect 😊😊😊. I was waiting for London's book and Mia gave him the best HEA ever 😍❤️.
Charles, Atlas's old Assistent, moved to California from New York to help Atlas with the resort and start a new life.
London, Rome's brother, was Happy with teaching Yoga at the resort and his side gig. He was kind of a Playboy before he met Charles at a party. And everything changed 🤌. I Adored both Charles and London 🥰😍.
For Me London was the perfect definition of Green Flag 💚. The way he supported Charles with everything and stayed by his side and helped him with his insecurities was commendable 😊🤌. They were normally cute and sweet together 😜 but Hot as Hell between the sheets 😉.

Overall it was an amazing read 😊. I enjoyed it thoroughly 😌. If you ask me I think everyone should give this " California Crush series" by Mia Monroe a chance 😁.

Do Not Disturb is the third book in the California Crush series by Mia Monroe. This book is about Charles and London. London has been crushing on Charles for months. Charles really likes London but needs time for himself.

I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.

London has had feelings for Charlie since he met him, and hopes they can date to see where things go. He’s not sure how Charlie feels so he finally just asks him out. Charlie let’s London know that while he’s not ready to date yet, when he is ready to date he’ll let London know. They share a kiss, and London knows he’ll wait as long as he needs to if he means he can have a chance with Charlie.

After visiting a drag show Charlie starts to learn things about himself he never knew. He struggles with it at first, not knowing who is the “real” Charlie. London is there for him and as a friend. He listens to Charlie’s worries and encourages him every chance he gets.

These two are absolutely perfect together and I love the way Logon never pushes Charlie for anything more than Charlie is really ready for.

I only have one small thing that disappointed me with this story and it has nothing to do with the main characters. (Which is why it is still a 5 star story) There are two characters that seemed to be set up in the previous book as a couple we would get to read about. However in a one line throw away in the epilogue it’s explained that while everyone thought they would be romantic partners their love is actually like brothers. One of the characters we’ve known the entire series and the other one was introduced in the previous book. With the next book being the last in the series it seems we will leaving these friends with the two of them missing their own HEA. It just leaves me a little dissatisfied to feel like a couple that was set up is being basically forgotten about.

I still love this series very much and will be reading this story again.

I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.

I adored London and Charles, I think they are my favourite couple so far. I really love stories where people get to discover who they are, to grow and uncover the hidden things about themselves and Charles got to do just that in this novel, from his first encounter at a drag show he is enthralled by how some of the acts made him feel and decides to be brave and explore these different aspects. What made it even better was the solid support he received from London, you really couldn't ask for a more supportive friend or partner than what Charles found in London; no judgements, just acceptance and enthusiasm for everything he was feeling.

I liked learning more about London and Charles and their backgrounds which have helped shape them into who they are. This was much more slow-burn romance than I usually like, but for these two it worked perfectly. I liked that there was no unnecessary angst, I like low angst reads and Mia always delivers on this count. Communication was a big part of their getting to know each other and to growing their relationship into something more, another thing I like in my reads, I hate when issues arise that could have been solved with a bit of communication.

I enjoyed seeing how the other characters from the previous books were going and am looking forward to the next book.

First, I thought London was described as having longer wavy hair that could be put up in a bun…and Charles worn glasses and bow ties, so who is the cover depicting. The guy does at least have freckles, but I thought even Charles had enough hair that London swept it off his forehead and tug (meaning longer). I would have preferred a truer depiction of either of the characters, maybe a man with light makeup and glasses or a guy depicting Charles after his first experience being made-up or even his first experience in his drag persona. Better cover just not for this particular book.

Anyway, on to my content review. I enjoyed (found myself reading and smiling a few times)! I thought Charles was adorable and so sweet….until he wasn’t (and not in a bad way). It was good seeing him come into himself; becoming more comfortable and confident with who he was and what he liked. I really appreciated how London helped Charles with that. It seemed like London was pining at first and there was no real interaction, but once Charles let London in, it helped establish/believe the progression of their relationship…seeing the support and encouragement. I loved London’s “I’m here for it”.

Fun, quick read...steamy, but kind of emotional (lots of feelings and validating). I'm glad it seems like Oscar's romantic interest is not someone in the hotel!

What an incredibly sweet book. London and Charles were wonderfully matched.

London has been not so secretly pining for Charles for months. Charles has been fighting himself and his desire for London. Seeing these guys finally come together was so rewarding. I loved that they built a friendship foundation first then went from there. Also watching Charles really come into his own and discover who he truly is was delightful. I loved how London was this steady and supportive presence and never pressured Charles for anything more than he was willing to give. I feel like that really added a layer to their relationship that was solid and reassuring.

As always with Mia Monroe books, prepare for some major swoon moments, as well as some seriously sexy chemistry between the MCs. London was out of control with the smolder and I loved every moment. I was also glad that we got to see a little more behind the curtain that is Oscar. His story is up next and I can’t wait for it.

Honestly, you can’t really go wrong with a Mia Monroe book and this is no exception. It was light and sexy and left you with all the feels. This was a solid addition to the California Crush series.

I had been eagerly awaiting the next book in the California Crush series. This one brought us Charles and London’s story. We’ve met both MCs along the way with London being Rome’s brother, and Charles who moved to San Diego to continue as Atlas’s assistant. The beginning started so strong for me and I felt the connection building between Charles and London. Here’s where I may be the outlier, it fizzled out for me about a third of the way through while Charles was still hemming and hawing over whether he should believe London’s interest in him. It was too slow of a burn for me, which led to me losing the connection growing between Charles and London. I did enjoy Charles’s journey of self discovery and appreciated how supportive London was of that. I enjoyed getting some more time with the other guys we’ve met along the way, and I am still heavily invested in knowing more about the flamingo shenanigans that are afoot. I’m eager for the next book in the series, but this was a 3.5 star for me.

Finally! Charles and London's turn!

I've enjoyed every book in the California Crush series and this one is no exception. It's a classic Mia Monroe romance with low angst, great characters, and the best found-family around.

Charles is a character that I definitely relate to. He's quiet and stuck in a rut in his life. He's doing what he's always done. So when flamboyant and bold London shows interest in him, Charles knows he's not the type of man to keep London's interest.

But thanks to London's patience and encouragement, Charles sees that he's exactly enough for London. Charles begins to explore more of life and more of queer life and realizes he doesn't have to fit into anyone's mold of what he should be. My favorite line is when London tells him, "Babe, if you like to wear makeup, then that's your version of being Charles. I don't really see it as a feminine trait or a masculine trait. It's a Charles trait and it's f&$&+#g hot."

I can't recommend this book (and series) enough. California Crush has crushed it!

This book is so beautiful I can't express how beautiful it is.
London is set on waiting for Charlie to decide when/if he's ready to try dating London. Months after a steamy kiss between them all the guys go to a drag show and Charlie finds himself interested in some pretty lingerie and pole dancing. He is so shy but London is so open and honest and most importantly accepting of this revelation.
Charlie is truly on a his way to self discovery with the emotional support of London. He makes him feel beautiful, accepted most importantly. He is his rock. The love that develops between them both is literal perfection.
Charlie is also super supportive of London's side buisness and boy oh boy does they have fun with that. They are absolutely explosive together in the living room/bedroom/*spoiler* the yoga studio.
The way Mia wrote this story of utter acceptance is truly what makes their story so beautiful.

Stepping out of your comfort zone to become the person you were always meant to be.

I loved this story!!! Mia never disappoints me. It's always a pleasure to read a story she's involved in. This was the 3rd book in the series and I'm trying to figure out if it's my favorite. It's hard to beat the first book, Extended Stay, but this one gives it a run for it's money.

This book had a bit of everything as Charles steps out of his comfort zone. It's like watching a flower bloom or a caterpillar becoming a butterfly. You couldn't help but fall in love with Charles and it was easy to see why London did as well.

I'm anxious to see Oscar get his HEA, which is the next and final book in the series. I'm not sure I'm ready to say goodbye to these guys. When an author has the skill to make a reader fall in love with their characters I don't see how they are able to untangle themselves from a series. Some authors are just that good!!!

Thanks Mia for another wonderful, enjoyable read.

What a great romance. You’ll find out two things in this book, a moment can change our live and you can only no open for your love when you‘re lucky with yourself.

This book is about London, a yoga teacher and Charles, an office person, working in the same hotel. Both have immediately a crush on each other, but Charles is to shy to be open. So they start a normal friendship, during this Charles finds his inner luck and is open for the Relation ship with London.

This story is so cute. It’s great to follow how great London is supporting Charlie’s in finding himself and how the feelings between both are always growing. The story is written very emotional, humorous and captivating. I couldn‘t put it down. I loved to meet all the guys from the previous books of the serious and I’m looking forward to the next one, which will sadly close the series as far as I read.

I head the luck to get an ARC to read.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

I really enjoyed this book. This book is slow burn but I loved how Charles and London became friends first, that eventually blossomed into so much more. After Charles and his work mates go to a drag show, Charles finds a whole new side of himself that never knew existed. He never knew that he liked feminine things like makeup and lace, and completely flourishes with London’s unconditional acceptance and support. I loved that Charles never judged London for his past, or finding out what he does as his side hustle. He just listened as London opened up to him about something personal that not even his brother Rome knows. I loved that London never pressured Charles and offered friendship until Charles was ready for more but was totally okay if that was all Charles could offer. I’m really looking forward to reading Oscar’s story when it’s released next month. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

London & Charles: I really enjoyed the first two books of this series. This one was good too and I love a sweet romance but I felt like it was almost too sweet? London has had his eye on Charles since the first day he started at the Hideaway. Charles is committed to flying under the radar and staying in his safe bubble until London makes his interest known. London makes Charles see himself as he truly is, brave and confident. He helps him uncover a part of himself he never knew was there, finding new interests and supporting him to try. London is a great character as we've seen in previous books and after this book I'm pretty sure he can be categorized as perfect. Other than London realizing that he does want to settle down now that he has found Charles, it is Charles that does all the growing in this book. Not a bad thing as it really was sweet and romantic and the self discoveries that Charles made were beautiful to see.

This is a friends to lovers m/m love story.

Charles has a metamorphosis in this book. We have only seen him a bit in previous books and he was always very straight laced and put together. And this book lets us see him in a new light. He is a caterpillar that turns into a beautiful butterfly. And his love and support from London is what allows him to flourish. London is completely and utterly enamoured with Charles and patiently waits for him to be ready for more. He’s my new book boyfriend hands down he is so sweet and would do anything to make Charles happy. Their happy ending is also so so beautiful and a perfect end to this book!

I feel so lucky that I got to read this book. And I’m definitely gonna be sad after we get the final book. But Mia is amazing and I know she will give us more amazing series to read.

This is the 3rd book of the California Crush series and it focuses on Landon and Charles. Both men work at The Hillcrest Hideaway hotel, Landon as the carefree yoga teacher and Charles in administration with his former boss. There is definitely an attraction at first sight for both men, however Charles needs time to discover some truths about himself first and really hopes Landon will wait for him like he said. Their friendship blooms while Landon pines for more, but is willing to be the support that Charles needs. One drag show out with the guys starts Charles on a journey of discovery that includes pole dancing and lace. When they finally come together it’s fire 🔥, and it’s all three more special b/c of the friendship and trust they have developed. If you like the first two books you will love this. Looking forward to Oscar getting his HEA!!

Do Not Disturb might have been my favorite installment of the California Crush yet. It's got all of the things. All of them!

London is an incredibly sexy yoga instructor who I absolutely love and adore but it's Charles I've been watching out for. I've been waiting for him to open up and show us what's underneath all of those bowties and dour stares. And oh my gawd, Charles is everything and then some *fans face*.

The patience and friendship that London offers Charles is what every swoony dream is made of. It allowed Charles the space he needed to find himself and realize what he had in front of him. I won't give away any of the good spoilers but this book is spicier than almost any other Mia has ever written, in my opinion.

I highly recommend bumping it to the top of your tbr. Just read it right now. This series is fire.

London fell hard and fast for anxiety-riddled, tight-laced Charles. Charles fell hard and fast into his true identity. London was so damn supportive for Charles, it was absolutely precious. Their love story was so sweet. I enjoyed seeing Charles let go and really come into himself. It was said by somebody in the book “what’s holding you back Charles?” (or something like that) and I said out loud “Amen! What is the damn hold up dude?! The beginning was a tad confusing for me because I thought he like the pole dancer but was completely enamored with the dancer and that’s what changed his life, but when he goes back stage it’s the pole dancer he talks to and that’s what he gets into. It just made me scratch my head in confusion for a hot second. Otherwise, a good addition to a decent series.

London knew that Charles was special as soon as he saw him. He is willing to wait for what could be the best thing to ever happen to him. Charles is finding himself and he finally realizes that he can't do it while hiding alone. It is time to make changes and figure out who he really is.

I enjoyed this story and this couple. Charles learns to love himself and to be open to love. London finds the person that he didn't know he needed in his life. London is there to help Charles open up and embrace new ideas and hidden desires.

I really like this series and the group of people that it follows. I think that London and Charles are a great addition to the series and that they bring a new connection and help their friends to open their minds about what they might be missing in their lives.

I absolutely loved this story! London was such a fantastic guy and I absolutely loved how he encouraged Charles to just be himself and had the patience to wait until Charles was ready for more than friendship! Charles’ journey to figure himself out was truly amazing! It made my heart happy that he had so many friends who actually just let him BE…whatever or whomever he decided! London was just awesome how he lifted Charles up! Charles was amazing with London’s side job and actually handled it so well! A true journey of life that was very inspiring! This was a fantastic story that was so enjoyable and I very highly recommend! I am voluntarily leaving an honest review for this complimentary copy of this book

California Crush is a fun, entertaining series with a seriously colorful cast of characters and guaranteed happy endings. Mia Monroe makes sure it’s all about the journey, and man, is it a joy to experience! London & Charles’s story is a perfect example of this; Charles undergoes an amazing metamorphosis as he explores his gender identity and sexuality in ways he never dreamed. I really enjoyed how London’s love & support allow him to flourish, and there’s no mistaking how their relationship allows them to both be the best versions of themselves.

The setup for Oscar’s long-awaited HEA is a slow build that continues in this third installment. Can’t wait for the final book to see what happens!

The camboy and the shy guy!!! So hot

Contains: coworkers, friends, shy, exploring, pretty boy in makeup and lace, pole dancer, drag queen, camboy, yoga teacher and sooooo much more.

This book is burning hooooot!! The sexy scene are burning even tho they didn't actually do something together before a long time.
Exploration of oneself, accepting and implementing the new concept to oneself, discovering oneself under a new facet. Opening up and letting people into your life.
This book is very well written. It is a fair dose of everything, there is nothing that is too much. It has a good dose of emotions, feelings, doubts but all in the respect and acceptance of oneself. I loved it.

Sooo freakin good!! We finally got London’s story! Charles has moved from New York to California to work at the hotel with Atlas, his boss in NY. London is happy teaching his yoga classes and working his side gig. He’s kind of a man-ho, but all that changes when he sees Charles and is instantly smitten. Charles was not what I expected, I ADORED him!! I loved watching him come out of his shell to become the person he was meant to be. I loved how London supported Charles!! Together they are sweet, hot and steamy with some spice thrown in! Overall, a seriously fantastic read that will be hard to stop reading. Well written with perfect pacing that just flows. Highly recommend.

Great story

I love Ms. Monroe's work and this series. This book was a wonderful addition to the series. London is Rome's brother, who's a bit of a fuckboy. He falls hard for Charles, Atlas' assistant who moved with him from New York. At first Charles is very standoffish and wants nothing to do with London, which is not the reaction London's used to getting. However, eventually the begin to hang out as friends and the relationship grows from there. It was lovely to see Charles grow and come out of his shell. Their relationship was beautiful. Now I can't wait to read Oscar's story.

What a lovely sweet read. London and Charles are so dang adorable. I really enjoyed reading Charles's journey into this whole new world where he is adjusting to moving as well as discovering his true self. I love how nerdy and shy he is but is so brave and determined to push himself to try new things.

These characters were really perfect for each other. London was so patient yet persistent. He was also very encouraging and supportive. Their development into the relationship was very sweet and romantic. The whole story was super cute, sexy and very endearing. I'm loving this series.

Loved this and totally recommend. Charles followed Atlas from New York to help him with the renovated hotel. London works at the hotel as the yoga instructor. They met and both were interested in each other. But Charles is shy and introverted. Fast forward a couple of months and Charles is still tiptoeing around London. They slowly become friends and then more. Charles slowly starts coming out of his shell - boy does he come out. This is their story with a happy ever after. Cannot wait for Oscar’s story.

I received a copy of this book for my review.
