Ever since they were young, Pran and Pat's families had a deep and raging rivalry — trying to one-up each other on everything. This also extended towards their sons. Comparing their sons' achievements and merits, whether it be academic or extracurricular — the two families left no stones unturned to outshine and gloat in front of the other. It was almost like rivalry was passed down as a family heirloom and the two boys became rivals as well. Until... they grew tired and became friends. Really good friends. However, because of their families' rivalry, their friendship had to be kept under wraps. And so began a journey of secret friendship... and then perhaps a sweet secret romance?
Review of the official version from meb (translated by TULIP)
Fantastic. Read it all in one go. Translation makes it very easy to read.
It's different from the series, in general it's roughly the same story up to the point they are found out, then it goes differently. The ending in the book is, in my opinion, much happier.
All in all, to me it's a win, because I got to enjoy 2 alternative versions of the same story.
Age rating:- 18+ (Some explicit sex scenes and usage of vulgar language)
Rating:- 5/5
The people who are addicted to Thai dramas, for them I don't even have to explain what am I gonna talk about today as they've already guessed it. Today I'm gonna bring the top pair of Pran-Pat in the discussion, but not from 'Bad Buddy', I'll bring them from 'Behind the Scene', the novel on which 'Bad Buddy' is based.
Everyone who watched the series knows the relationship between Pat and Pran was different from any other standard series. But if you read the novel, it'll help you understand them more as it talks about their POV. I've never thought that reading a novel after watching a series will be this beautiful. Like while watching it, I felt their emotions, but after reading it, it feels as if I lived them.
Parakul Siridechawat (Pran) and Napat Jindapat (Pat) are the sons of two neighbors who hate each other to death. Since their childhood, they were taught to hate and compete with each other in everything. They did as their parents told them, but in their hearts, they never hated each other. And the irony of fate, both of them fall in love with each other to the point that it feels as if they are one heart living in two bodies. But unfortunately, their parents found out about it causing them to choose separate lives. Now the question is, will Pran and Par ever meet again? Or their love will die in their separation? Why do their family hate each other so much?
After a very long time, I cried while reading this novel. The roller coaster of emotions was a different thing to talk about, but I literally cried to the point that it started to feel as if those things are really happening to me. Highly recommended novel and series. If you wanna read the novel, DM me and I'll send you. Although the translation is weak as it was a Thai novel, but it is understandable.
As probably most people reading the English version of this book, I first watched the series. And I can say that except the loose general setting and vaguely the main characters’ names and personalities, there’s not a lot in common with the book and the series.
To be honest I’m not sure if the fact that I adore the series and the concept in general made me more or less forgiving of the book.
In general my biggest gripes with this novel was the amount of unfortunate stereotypes and tropes, and the fact that I feel like there was a noticeable lack of satisfying build up.
After starting with a short backstory telling us how Pat and Pran went from friends to enemies to semi-secret friends that kick each other’s asses and treat each other’s wounds, we immediately jump to a Pat obsessed with Pran. An obsession fuelled by unreasonable levels of jealousy. Considering that Pran’s POV - especially in the beginning - is much more closed off, we end up getting what feels like Pat brute-forcing Pran into a romantic relationship.
Personally, the I feel like the only things the novel does better than the series is make the fighting between the university departments make slightly more sense, as well as being much better at showcasing Wai being a great friend to Pran.

Amo está historia, amo la serie..se merecen el cielo mis niños ❤️ A pesar que la novela tiene algunas partes que la serie no creo que es perfecta, es una de esas pocas veces que me gusta la novela y la adaptación 👏✨
NGL, I read this solely because I'm missing the series and OhmNanon but the series is loosely based on this so the comparisons end there. The translation is not the best and it lacked the Thai ambiance I was expecting from this story.
I can see OhmNanon while reading this book. They did so great as PatPran. I just wanna thanked the series' producers for making PatPran ran away together instead of them breaking up. I cried a lot and enjoyed the book as well!
