This volume was both interesting and boring.

The main event where I was interested to see what is going to happen next is the after effect of the Unanimous Special Exam. I also mentioned this already in the last volume that I was excited to see how everyone, especially Horikita will deal with it. Unfortunately, many people lost faith in Horikita as she broke a promise and used her power for self-serving reasons, but I believe that she can still turn the table around. Yes, Kushida and Haruka are both hard to crack, but Horikita was also hard to make her change her way of thinking and yet here we are with a more mature Horikita who is willing to take risks not just for herself but for her classmates. It was also once more shown how much each one in Horikita's class matured. I was once more happy to see how Sudou fought against his inner demons to not start a fight with someone again and this time Onodera helped him, which was unusual but very much needed in the end.

Lots of things were also uncertain in this volume. It gave me mixed feelings. Some of them were really bothering me, especially the one with Sakayanagi where she was put in a spot I never imagined her to be through a twisted way of wording things. (Yes, I talk about chapter 7). But there was also a positive aspect to it as I knew that some of them will be brought back up in the future volumes, for instance the ending of this volume which foreshadows the next big issue for Horikita's class or how Sakura Airi did something last minute before she got expelled which makes one wonder what it was and why Ayanokouji accepted to pay for it in her stead. Actually, since something like this also happened in a different volume already my mind immediately went back to that knife, but I'm certain that whatever it was that Sakura wanted to buy must be important for later otherwise it wouldn't have been a big secret.

Ayanokouji also has a new approach to supporting his class, which also foreshadows his now revealed plan for the future of Horikita's class. Somehow I want to see his plan blossom, but at the same time I don't want this to actually happen as it would mean that his relationship with a certain someone would change and thereof also be never the same again, which is a shame as I really enjoyed when they were seen together.

Wang-san might not be a major character, but I was happy to see that another illustration of her was included for this volume. She definitely needs more characters development, but until then I will curiously watch her performs.

Also another character which isn't mentioned that often (but probably more important in the plot than Wang-san so far) is Ibuki. I'm actually quite neutral to her as I don't really dislike her but I also don't really get excited to see her or something. But I wanted to mention her this time as she has a way of thinking which matches my way of thinking, which was a bit surprising as I didn't expect that a character so different from my own personality would share the same thought pattern. I'm not really cautious when meeting new people, but I also have some suspicion on people who are too good natured, it just feels too perfect than being true. Not just in fictional stories like Classroom of the Elite but also in real life, there are more than enough people who pretend to be innocent and all kind but deep down they aren't that nice. Wouldn't say everyone who looks kind from the outside is evil or something, but some are and I think unless one knows that person completely one can't really be sure if it's just a performance or their true self. (By the way, same goes for people who act though but are vulnerable deep down and so on).

I also wanted to talk about Amasawa Ichika. Even though she is a diva and I really liked her when her character was introduced, I see myself being a bit dissatisfied how often her underwear is a big role by all her appearances. I know that she has a flirty side, which is probably her way of manipulating others, but she knows that it wouldn't work on Ayanokouji but proceeds to do it anyway. + she did the same thing a couple of times now that it starts to just lose meaning. (She also exaggerated with the flirting this time, which made me feel a bit frustrated about her actions). The same goes for her reason for appearing in Ayanokouji's room, it also just repeats itself which is a pity as I thought that Amasawa could be an interesting character and potentially also an enemy. Since she isn't so long part of the story and there is also year 3 left to read, she might not repeat everything over and over again and actually does something else which might be important to progress the plot.

Now I will explain what parts I deemed boring for this volume. First of all, the special exam this time around which was the sport festival wasn't as interesting as I initially thought. Perhaps it's 'cause in the first year there was also a sport festival and even though it changed a bit since visitors were now present and the new first year students weren't there before, but I saw myself being bored by it. A huge factor for this was that Ayanokouji did not take part in the sport festival and that the reactions from other students to it weren't like I expected. The only part I enjoyed at least a little bit was that one match with Sudou and Onodera as Sudou also grew more mature in that moment.

Another scene I didn't like was probably the whole seventh chapter as Sakayanagi was treated in a way I never thought I would see in the official works. It felt like some fanart stuff, especially how purposely the words were twisted in a way to give room for misunderstandings. That felt unfair for Sakayanagi as she was portrayed previously as a strong independent leader who always keeps her composure and now she felt like nothing a completely different person. I do understand what the purpose of all this was, but I think it could have also been done differently with the same outcome in the end without having to do it in such a wrong way.

I'm obsessed with this series 😭. I have been following it for years now, but I still have the same expectations for every new book.

This one was another exciting volume full of conflicts and mind games. There were so many hidden clues for future events that my brain it's still trying to process everything. Do brains hurt? Because mine always malfunctions after I finish one of these books.

A little conflicted after this book. There were really great moments throughout, but some things were quite the opposite. There's a particular scene that I cannot wrap my head around, it was disjointed so it's not 100% certain what happened, but it's heavily implied, and I'm just disappointed and disheartened about the choices that were made.

The other thing that bothered me, though, admittedly, I have considered the possibility of it a while now, was the ending. The past few books have been ending on pretty grim notes and this one was no exception.

The book is honestly really forgettable despite the fact that I remember a lot of disjointed scenes throughout it. I think I'm just not a big fan of the sports arcs, but the other unrelated scenes were engaging and had some fun moments.
(We do not speak of the end of this novel I just pretend it didn't happen.)

Read the machine translated version since the official translation won't be there for a while .
Enjoyed this volume. Interesting growth of the Class without much assistance from our main man.
Really intrigued by how will the story progress from now on.

My low(er) rating is primarily because MOST of this book is

"So-and-so is still mad about the results of the test!"
"We had no choice, though."
"YES, YOU DID!"
"But you went along with it anyway, since you weren't the one expelled."
"Yeah, but... YOU STARTED IT!"

(repeat, cycling out which characters are talking)

There are still some interesting bits before the climax, including (of course) the romantic parts—and probably the ONE use of exclusively third-person point-of-view for a chapter I've seen this whole series—but for the most part it feels like filling a lot of time between the major plot points, just to make sure the page count is about the same per volume. It's definitely a LOT easier to read than A Game of Thrones (hence light novel, for "light" reading, despite the page count), but per page, GoT has a lot more content (though, content I didn't like).

On the whole, though, I feel like this book could have been half the size without losing the important bits. The most interesting part is the Sports Festival, of course, and all the twists therein (and there...out?), particularly... okay, one twist at the festival, and one during but not AT the festival, the latter of which of COURSE is somewhat vague as far as what actually happened. Grr, why!! Mostly I'm annoyed that I read as fast as I could and still only got a small amount of character development for my eye strain, though.

Recommended to get the requisite plot needed for the rest of the story. I both did and did not look forward to reading this volume because it felt like so much VOLUME for so little story (as extrapolated from the pace of the prior volume), but I already have the next two volumes on my shelf to read, so... probably should read them in order, huh?

"There was a contradiction there: I had an answer, but I wanted to be wrong."

Classroom of the Elite: Year 2 Vol. 6
By Syougo Kinugasa.

Well the second year sports festival is here! Frankly, I didn't enjoy this volume much. Don't get me wrong, it isn't bad. It's just kinda dull. Maybe it is the whole sport arc that makes it dull for me.

Ayanokoji is getting more and more attention as days go on. The best part of the book was definitely the meeting between Horikita and Ryueen. It was also kinda funny. Kushida and Horikita's part was just childish and kinda cringe. Ibuki's the GOAT. Best girl ever! ( maybe after Kei ig). Talking about Kei, well Ayanokoji and Kei are certainly progressing well. I believe their conversation in the first half of volume was done greatly. It showed Kei's perspective. Also liked how her character is getting much needed development ( Should I call it that though is the question?)

The main sports festival was whatever, didn't get much excitement reading that. Honestly, it felt like a chore than pleasure. The volleyball event and tennis event were the two most prominent ones, but those felt okay at best. Didn't enjoy much.

The Arisu and Ayanokoji part was kinda creepy. Ayanokoji always does that to get the advantage. Sure, they didn't do 'that' but still, it's a bit concerning. Should've done something else. It just feels off.

"There was a hurdle blocking her path ahead, one that was too tall for her to jump over with her own level of ability."

Honestly, I enjoyed reading about how the class is currently and reading people's reactions. It was so much better than the whole event. Which was lacklustre if I'm being honest with myself. That being said, this volume leaves the reader with a lot of unanswered questions. So, I'm excited to read the next volumes.

7.5

A lot of things happened around the sport festival and the sport festival filled the book way less than other things. Namely getting the class in order after getting airi expelled. This was a pretty interesting volume and there were some moment that were strangely enjoyable. Like how ryueen splashed the orange juice at Ayanokoji and just said "Did you notice how freaking weird this dude is?" or something. I just found it very funny because its true. Ayanokoji is not normal. Or when Sakayanagi came into ayanokojis room to kind of hang out and eat a cake together. And sakayanagi even fed ayanokoji which was quite amusing. Then ayanokoji pushed her on the bed and.. Yeah no it suprised me. Why did he do it this way? Anyway it was very amusing. But the end? "And then i will leave the class"? Very suprising im curious. How and when and how will horikita and the rest of the class deal with it? and ayanokoji? Bro is thinking like a year in advance its ridiculous.

This volume of classroom of the elite covers the sports festival and we get to see everyone try their best to try to win and earn class points for themselves. I personally found this volume very fun and interesting because many things seemed to be going on. I really enjoyed watching Sudo teaming up with Onodera to try to do their best in the sports festival. Sudo has really changed throughout the series and I found it impressive when he was able to control his anger even though Hosen was making him angry. I also found it shocking to watch Amasawa play volleyball, because even though she has never played before she was able to get good in a matter of minutes. It really showed just how skilled the students from the white room are.

not a fan of sports festivals, but luckily there was not too much of that non-sense going on here.
as usual - author adds some cliffhanger to the end and writes that characters do things but readers do not know what they did. as such, end was a bit questionable.
strong 3, but not more. not the kind of volume that I'll remember a week from now one.

The whole Ayanokoji group fiasco is starting to feel lame. Most of them were too irrelevant for me—I honestly wouldn't mind if they left the school.

Onodera and Sudou’s interactions are so wholesome. I really hope we get more of them in the upcoming volumes.

And of course, don’t you just love it when best girl Ibuki is in action? God, she’s so entertaining.
