Deep in the jungle, there is a new apex predator. His name is Breed.
Deep in the Amazon jungle, a tribe has attacked an isolated government outpost. A group of idealistic young volunteers enters the rain forest to prove the tribesmen were provoked. One is killed, and another, Fiadh Connor, goes missing.
Fiadh's father, billionaire Cuchulain Connor, hires Breed to find her. Connor helps Breed get a ride with Brazil's Minister of the Interior who is mounting an expedition to relieve the besieged outpost. He and his entourage will travel up the Amazon on a Navy gunboat with a platoon of Brazilian Marines.
On board the gunboat Nevoa, Breed realizes that no one is what they seem. The suave minister. His gangster henchman. The alcoholic doctor. The competent captain. The professional Marine officer. The beautiful volunteer. They all have something to hide and at least one of them is a killer.
One murder follows another as the Nevoa crawls up the Rio Preto. It soon becomes apparent that Breed is in the crosshairs—someone does not want him to accomplish his mission.

Cameron Curtis has spent thirty years on trade floors as a trader and risk manager. He was on the trade floor when Saddam’s tanks rolled into Kuwait, when the air wars opened over Baghdad and Belgrade, and when the financial crisis swallowed the world. Having written fiction as a child, he is the author of the Breed action thriller series.
This book actually deals with a ongoing problem in southamerica, How the natives are being treated by the logging companies. It's not well, I can tell you that much. I sugest that you read Close Quarters by Cameron Curtis and have a suspensefilled ride through the jungles with Breed. This time he is going into the jungle to find out what happened with Fiadh Connor, her father wants to know if she is dead or alive. It will be a strange journey for Breed and lots of danger from many directions. Who can you trust? Along on his travel into the brasilian jungle are also a detachment of soldiers and the minister of the interior and of course the crew on the ship. But all is not what it seems to be. Two members of the crew dies, but was it accidental or murder? I had a really good time reading this fourth thriller about Breed and are glad I found this author. I really recommend that you check him out. I must thank@netgalley and @inkubatorbooks for giving me this advance copy of #CloseQuarters and #CameronCurtis for writing it. Out in stores March 6th
Wow! What a book! This story takes you on a ride that at times is tense, maddening, relaxing and then to pure terror.
I really enjoyed Breeds internal thoughts about Fiahds letters.
If you enjoy mystery, a hero who will go thru anything to complete his mission, corrupt politicians and their violent sidekicks, plots that twist and turn, beautiful women, indigenous people who want to be left alone but will protect their land and lives, heavely callings, this book is for you. It was so interesting, i read this in a couple of sittings. I look forward to more Breed stories soon.
Close Quarters by Cameron Curtis Breed Thriller #4
Suspense-filled action-packed thrill-ride from beginning to end – once begun I couldn’t stop reading till the bitter end. Wow!
What I liked: * The introduction to Breed that began this book and the way it tied into the final chapter so very well * Breed: intriguing, lethal, intelligent, ex-military, sniper, independent contractor, hired to find a young woman last seen attacked in the Amazon jungle * Fiadh: idealist, mission-minded, strong, healthy, wealthy, giving, true believer, seeker, follows her own internal drummer…intriguing woman * The writing and plot * How intense the story was * The twists and turns * The dark gritty parts that eventually made so much sense * Finding out who the good and bad guys really were and what they were up to * Seeking justice meted out to more than one * That it seemed so very believable * Hoping that there will be another book in the series to read soon * All of it really except…
What I didn’t like: * The people I was meant not to like…they were easy to dislike * Knowing that there are people in the world that are as horrible as the ones in this story
Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in t his series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC – this is my honest review.
Total Precision! Sometimes people get lost... or do they... Breed goes into a different kind of jungle than what he is used to, a real jungle! The rainforest is quite literally growing over itself. What is a trail today, will be overgrown within a few weeks. So when a daughter goes into this forest and is not heard from in a couple of weeks, Breed gets called in to go find her, where is she and what happened? Laura is not your average girl. She was raised with a golden spoon, and well educated. She goes into the forest... but, is everything as it seems? There are so many conflicts within this jungle, and so many deaths, the smallest infection today could turn deadly within 24 hours. Thank you, Cameron Curtis, for a great story! I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my honest review.

I received this book through a "Booksprout" in a Boxset and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This is book 4 in the series and the set. This story has Breed accepting a case to locate a client's daughter who has gone missing in Brazil. Breed makes arrangements to get to the location where the daughter has gone missing. Breed believes in all likelihood that Fiadh, the daughter is dead..
Follow Breed along as he goes on his quest and discover what dangers he faces as well as who provides him unexpected help.
The action is immense and the ending is one that you won't expect. Read this book, you won't be sorry!
A reasonable to good thriller that has Breed onboard a boat searching for a missing female in the Amazon jungle requested by her father. An attempt on his life while on the boat raises doubts and questions after the murder of two crew members. Subsequent travel into the jungle finds the missing woman and tribal warriors who he assists against FARC gorillas and corrupt crew on the initial boat journey. The only downside is that in all of the battles/fights Breed has been to lucky to survive.
This is a great read. Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously. Can't wait to read what the author brings out next. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Breed is hired to find Fiadh Connor, rebellious daughter of an American billionaire, who is missing in the rain forest in Brazil. Breed begins his pursuit of Fiadh with a signed blank check in his pocket but once onboard the boat taking him to her last known location, he realizes all is not what it should be. All of the players involved do not have finding Fiadh at the top of their to do lists. If you like thrillers, this is a definite must read.
Breed is hired by a wealthy father, Cuchulain Connor to find his missing daughter Fiahd in the Amazon rainforest. The area in which she disappeared is not where the average tourist treads. He joins a naval ship down a narrow tributary of the Amazon, meets a few slimy characters(Sales/Vargas) and narrowly avoids getting killed on ship.
Father Andrew provides Breed with Fiahd's letters so he can get to know her. They are personal insights and thoughts which captivate him- me not so much. Too much religious content for me in this book.
There is a bit of twist at the end but not at all surprising.
VERY DISSAPOINTED, BOOK DRAGGED ON OVER PARTS THAT HAD LITTLE BEARING ON THE STORY TO THE POINT WHERE I SKIMMED OVER CLOSE TO 100 PAGES AND NEVER WORRIED ABOUT REGAINING THE PLOT OR WHERE IT WAS GOING. BREED SEEMED LOST TO HIMSELF, UNSURE WHERE HE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN, ESPECIALLY BEING A FORMER DELTA FORCE OPERATOR AND MADE FOR A DISJOINTED HERO. THE FIRST BREED NOVEL I READ DID NOT SUFFER FROM THIS CONFUSION
Another classic hero, with plots.and twists keeps you reading well into the night and next day. Detail and plot ran side by side feeling you where there at times and glad you weren't at other times. Glad I read the set in order and smiled at the finale. Good over evil, and although not the happy ending one expects, glad the ending left me smiling and ok. Like Breed, well thought through, tough going and worth been a part of.
Thank you once again for an incredible fast paced story. Chapter after chapter, just could not stop after only one. Just needed to see what happened next. Each book has gotten better and more suspenseful. Can't wait to see what Breed gets himself into next. Thanks again for a great story.
I marked the place where this action thriller became something else - Chapter 23. There are plenty of fight scenes where Breed gets to show his skills, but about the midpoint the story gets complicated and hard to follow. The ending ties things up well, but is also a little hard to believe.
First half of this book remind me "Murder in Orient Express" by Agatha Christie with Breed in a boat with some murders happenning and guessing who the killer(s) are. Shoots and explosions are placed in the second part of the story. In previous book we had some jungle in Vietnam, this time action is located in jungle besides Amazonas.
Close Quarters is filled with a surprising story line. I like the good guys, the bad guys, and the surprising twists of this story. I would say more, but I wouldn’t want to spoil the it for you!
When I read a good book like this, I don’t stop much until I’m done.
Another great read. Non stop action with lots of twists and turns. I have read all of the books in this series and not been disappointed with any of them. A big thank you to the author, Cameron Curtis and from me a well deserved 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thoroughly entertaining from start to finish with a great story full of twists and turns. The author gets better and better for me and I've enjoyed all in this series....... Where is the next instalment? Thank you Mr Curtis for you great work!
The book is well written. Breed is a good character. The story ending has the bad person explaining, confessing what the story was all about since it was not clear while we were following the trip through the jungle.
Not the best book out of the series, too much going into his mind and emotional baggage. I don't know that I want him to go down this path with the character. It seems to change the action portions of the books
Different Breed book with a different area of operations of jungle vs. sandbox. Real mystery on board the ship was very logical when revealed for who and why. Ending was predictable and left you awaiting the next offerings.
Breed sets off to find a young woman at her father's bequest. He and the woman's friend travel deep into the Amazon interior. Enemies become allies, and the hunt is on. Action packed.
The best put together of anything I've read of yours. Knowledge of a wide variety of matters displayed elegantly and eloquently. Well constructed narrative that held interest and kept me turning pages.
Awesome intriguing, and suspenseful. With unseen surprises. I never once thought of the plot turning out as it did. And the ending totally caught me by surprise.
Breed # 4 is different from the previous 3, some good, some not as good. I still enjoyed it but it ran a different course than usual. I don't want to spoil it, but I'll say, you need to read previous 3. I will continue with Breed and Cameron Curtis.
Few of us really appreciate the life we live with the threat of a horrible death always present, but some live without that or the belief God is watching over us.
