Lox came back to Sherwood on a Thursday—the same Thursday that I knelt on a polished concrete floor and kissed the hand-stitched toebox of Rafe de Lacy’s shoe.
I suppose it wouldn’t have made a difference if I’d known she was back. It had been five years, after all, and she’d been the one to leave Sherwood in the first place. And I was many, many things—young, submissive, obsessive—but the one thing I’d never been, not even as a smitten teenage girl, was foolish. And I had no interest in chasing heartbreak with humiliation.
After all, no thief is good enough to steal the same heart twice.
...right?
***Sherwood is a kinky, genderbent retelling of the Robin Hood story, starring Marian, Robin, and one very swoony Sheriff of Nottingham…***
Set in the same world as New Camelot, this short story (although it's written so perfectly that it feels like a fully fleshed out novel) is a modern retelling of Robin Hood... with a twist that it is FFM which I'm embarrassed to say I have not read much of but this was just *chefs kiss*
If you loved New Camelot and love Sierra Simone you need to read this book. It's kinky, kindle melting but with a great story that is setting up for a new series which sounds so so good.
Who knew I needed a gender bent Robin Hood retelling/ spy thriller with a dash of James Bond and generous heapings of kinky FFM smut? Sierra Simone knew apparently, and she ~served~. It had the nuanced dom-sub kink relationships (two of them!) the author excels at, it had double the second chance angst, it even had an explosive spy coupling which gave me major Mr and Mrs Smith vibes and I was here for all of it.
Suave British American operative Rafe (that name alone gets me going), badass little thief Lox, and the submissive with a thread of steel CEO Marian to balance out their trio. Their connection is quick and dazzling and soul deep and so very sexy. Their story is complete but I could still read pages and pages about them getting up to their mischief. And of course I could just read the author string words into sentences forevermore because that’s some magic shit. I loved seeing glimpses of the New Camelot world, and hints of the upcoming Lyonesse books which I’m anticipating with all my body.
Sierra Simone has the kinky sensibilities of bringing any old fairy tale to life with throbbing energy & juiciest overtones.
She takes timeless tale of Robinhood, complete with Sheriff and maid Marian with bunch of merry men. Get them toplay spy games with cross country chases, underground safe houses and stolen state secrets. In between lies The Knot. A haven for bdsm and hidden fetishes, a playground for Sherwood Dwellers
"The Knot: the three of us twisted into one tangle, dominant, dominant, sub. "
Robin Loxley is in love with Marian but has to go on a vigilante spree, leaving Marian at the mercy of The Wolf Rafe De Lacy. He plays with a double agenda. Entice & lure Marian for his horny kinks and bait & trap the elusive Robin Lox. When these three get together, nothing is off the table. Their push & pull for Marian, their own feelings and the patriotic fervour just raises the temperature to nuclear level.
"I was the king fox and she was my queen fox, and Sherwood was our kingdom, the forest was our castle. "
It's twisted, dark & wicked, dripping with moistened lust and breathless passion. A signature Sierra book which will leave you panting for more. Stay hydraed and put the book down occasionally to come up for air!! 4.5 stars for accidental obsession and accidental beloved Follow me on: Email🌻 Bookbub 🌻 Twitter🌻 Instagram🌻 Blog🌻 Facebook🌻 Amazon 🌻
I ta scena trójkąta... Może sama się zbędnie nahype'owałam, ale Sierrze w polycule chyba wybitnie wygodniej z dwoma typami.
Rafe was in love with Robin Loxley “Lox”, but she still loved the girl from her past, Marian. Now Rafe is with Marian, while still in love with Lox. And Lox is back to have fun with Marian too. Genderbent FFM contemporary retelling of Robin Hood. Rafe and Marian get together at a BDSM club and start up a dom/sub relationship.
This author is always kind of hit and miss for me and I had mixed feelings about this one while reading. Things that didn’t work for me: we are dropped right into the story and I wish we got a better understanding of the characters because I didn’t care enough about them, story got bogged down with a political/spying plot that I could have done without. There is a lot of the story revolving around spying, thieves, politics, government, FBI, NSA, treason…all of that part of the story I wasn’t invested in. Which I realized already into the read that this loosely ties into/exists in the same world as the author’s New Camelot series which I really wasn’t a fan of. What I did like: genderbent retelling of Robin Hood but make it contemporary (so fun!), BDSM club scenes, getting 2 hot second chance romances, conversations about kink and limits, lots of steam, multiple aftercare scenes, the ending.
“The only thing that could ever, ever matter was the three of us: the thief, the maiden, and the wolf.”
As for a novella/short story, it has a lot of details and the plot is well-explored. We've learned about three characters along with their nuances, facets, and motivations in two hundred pages. For me, that's amazing. Everything was so well interwoven. However, the bad part of being a short book is that we didn't have enough time with the three of them together.
The tension was delicious from the beginning. It literally started with a bang and it only gets better. Surprisingly, it has less smut than I thought it would have. But the scenes we had were hot, I mean, sizzling hot. My-kindle-needs-a-popsocket hot.
I love political intrigue, so I was in heaven. And there was also BDSM dynamics involved. Oh, did I say it's FFM? I'VE FINALLY FOUND MY BOOK!
But I'm greedy and I really think their story could've used more space. It felt rushed toward the end and, for my complete misery, there's no epilogue.
One more book read with my bestie Charlie. We're on a roll 💜
I absolutely adored this story. Rafe, Lox & Marian are nearly as addictive as Ash, Embry & Greer were. As in all books Sierra Simone writes, the spice is impeccably written, you really can picture the characters and scenes in your mind🖤
I would love to see more of this trio and what the future holds for them - even if it’s cameos in someone else’s story.
In my opinion, this story didn’t really have a conclusion since there are so many unanswered questions and what-if’s. Based on the authors note at the end, I am hoping those questions are answered in the Lyonesse trilogy!
The perfect interlude while waiting for Bitter Burn! We get a glimpse of Mark and Isolde — and another backstabbing trio! The brevity of the story meant you didn’t really get to feel Rafe fall in love with Lox, but the exquisite spice more than made up for the plot holes.
✔️ Triple POV (Rafe x Lox x Marian) ✔️ Set in the Pacific Northwest ✔️ Open-door contemporary romance (4/5🌶️) ✔️ Tropes: Robin Hood retelling; FFM; romantic suspense
1. FFM Robin Hood retelling where Robin/Lox is on the run due to treason but she has a very good reason and also she’s never stopped thinking about Marian, who she left five years ago, or her ex-lover Rafe (aka Sheriff of Nottingham), who’s trying to track her down to turn into the government. Rival spies who are also dominants in love with the same sub? Yes and yes and yes. 2. It’s Sierra Simone at her filthy finest. 3. Great wolf and fox imagery. I love that Lox calls Marian “little fox.” 3. There are some fun nods to the New Camelot series and it sets things up the forthcoming Lyonesse trilogy, which I have been dying to read ever since Sierra mentioned the idea a few years ago. I need to know everything about Ys—there are so many interesting ways this premise could go now. (I love when authors set unrelated books in the same universe.)
What more do you need? Definitely on the instalove side and I would have loved for it to be longer because I'm greedy and want more details. Regardless, it’s a hot delicious treat of a retelling.
Characters: Marian is a 23 year old bisexual white socialite, green tech corporation CEO, and submissive. Robin “Lox” is a 27 year old bisexual white thief, former Ranger, ex-NSA cryptographer, and domme with red hair. Rafe is a white British CIA Special Operations Group agent, former Green Beret, and Dom. This is set in Sherwood, WA.
Content notes: accusation of treason, war references, past military, past death of parents (Marian’s mother and father, Lox’s dad, Rafe’s dad), on page sex, D/s, partner sharing, FFM menage, biting/pain play, impact play, bondage, exhibitionism, anal play, blindfold, light humiliation kink, shoe worship, subspace, mentions of Lox and Rafe having tried to kill each other in the past
I LOVED this retelling of Robin Hood and even more because it's set in the New Camelot world. Also I loved that we got an other trouple from Simone, but this time with two women and one man. I'm not into the dominant/sub kink usually but I thought it was well done and the fact that the FF and FM knew each other before the beginning of the story helped this novella to feel complet in the end. Which is not an easy thing usually with this format. Having a female Robin was a nice switch and she is so kick ass, and completely understand why Marian is drown to her. The newly relation between Marian and our british "sherif", Rafe, flow nicely and become an evidence when Lox comes back into the picture. Seeing those three giving in was sexy as hell. I wanted so much more of that.
Also the red dress on the cover is perfection, and referred to an important scene in the book. I appreciate when the authors think about those details.
This read made me really curious about the upcoming Lyonesse books. Also, now I want to get back to the New Camelot trilogy, to reread American Queen and then discover American Prince.
I really enjoyed this retelling of Robin Hood and I love it even more that it takes place in the same universe as New Camelot. Robin Loxley has loved Marian Fitzwalter her entire life but she had to leave to join the army. Years later, Robin is now branded a traitor and Rafe de Lacy is sent to Sherwood to bring Robin out of hiding by going after Marian. Rafe is a spy and has a long history with Robin, he knows that Marian is the only person who'll bring Robin out of her forest. I loved this book and I loved the relationship between Robin, Marian and Rafe, they completed each other. Both Robin and Rafe were dominants and Marian a true submissive and their scenes together were pretty great. I absolutely loved how badass Robin was, she took no crap from anyone and did what had to be done. I loved that Greer, Ash, Embry, Merlin and Nimue were all mentioned. I wish this book was longer because there are still a lot of questions that need to be answered. I can't wait for the new series to come out and dive back into the New Camelot universe.
Sierra Simone writes beautifully and the spice was so good! I loved that we started off with scorchingly hot sexual tension which only grew and got more intense throughout the story. The surprising part of this novella was the political thriller elements. I loved the spy/government agent chasing aspect. It was intriguing and added to the tension and suspense of the story and the characters.
I did feel like I wanted more of Rafe, Marian and Lox together. The BDSM was delicious and the spicy scenes was so hot! There was less smut than I anticipated, and it was kinda like a slow burn leading up to the finale. With that said, the finale was phenomenal. The FFM action was deliciously delivered. The only thing that I felt was missing, was a teeny tiny epilogue. I love epilogues, and maybe I’m being spoiled but I just need an epilogue!
“Forever with the three of us– greedy, twisted, wicked. And it would be perfect.”
This was another buddy read with my lovely bestie, Lelli! Thank you, babe!💖
Sexy and short FFM Robin Hood retelling in the same New Camelot and Lyonesse universe. Fun but I wasn’t heavily invested in the characters. Giving a 4⭐️ because people inappropriately low rate short novels and novellas.
What a deliciously kinky romp!! I am absolutely giddy!! This lighthearted (for Sierra) gender bent Robin Hood (FMf/ FfM) is just the thing to burn away the winter doldrums. I adore Robin Hood anyway I can get it and Sierra has captured the cheekiness and daring that makes them so beloved. Our Robin is Robin Loxley (Lox) a bad girl math genius/spy/cryptographer and crush of Marian Fitzwalter, an eco heiress and blossoming submissive.
AND THE SHERIFF... RAWR. You need to meet him for yourself.
And they get tied up in a messy ménage full of emotional tension with that soupcon of angst that we crave.
Simone has a gift for writing kink (and grudge sex) that is not only scorching hot but full of connection and heart. The words practically sizzled with every luscious encounter.
Every time Sierra writes a new folklore retelling...
This woman, I swear to Avalon, this woman could write a dust bunny romance and it'd shake you to the fucking core! And I don't even really enjoy reading throuples, mostly because the sex scenes are like pervy Tetris and I spend more time figuring out which body part is going where - takes you out the moment, y'know? But with Sierra?
Perfectly balanced, perfectly filthy, and have the ability to make me jealous as fuck for whichever MC is currently not being paid attention to. ... She is a sorcerer. She is the Florence Welch of Romance. She is the savant smut queen of my dreams.
I will now be making a list of all the folklore/fairytales/myths I need retold by milady Simone:
Hades and Persphone... Orpheus and Eurydice... Gawain and Lady Bertilak/The Green Man... Guy of Warwick and Felice... Oberon and Titania... Maeve and Ailill Mac Máta...
The list goes on. And on. Andonandonandon. Tristan and Isolde can't get here fast enough.
My only complaint? That this story wasn't longer. And yes, I know it was meant to be just a novella but with Sierra Simone, I will always need more.
This one packs a punch despite its length as we get a nifty Robin Hood retelling of sorts that explodes into a game of cat and mouse and the most delicious threesome, too! What more could a girl want?! Lox, Marian, and Rafe are all searching for that 'more' most never find but somehow with each other, all the pieces of their very complicated and dangerous puzzle fall easily into place. Oh, and their bodies all seem to fit as well and it's erotic af!
I loved all three characters and the kink they all need as it becomes a race against time for Lox, as the assumed traitor to the U.S. Government is cornered more than once by Rafe, and his need to still believe all that he has worked for isn't for naught. These two are truly involved in some real serious stuff and it's any guess how the info Lox knows will change the course of their work and their world going forward.
Lox's band of Merry Men is a great bonus and the hint of what's to come in a trilogy in 2023 has me all kinds of excited that this is not the only time we get to be with this sexy trio and their cohorts.
This author never disappoints as her stories continue to be fresh, unique, and full of the kind of romance and intrigue I crave.
Well worth your time, I happily give Sherwood a huge 4 stars!!
It makes me so sad to give this 3 stars because I was so excited about this!
There are many things to love however everything felt severely underdeveloped that it really hindered my enjoyment of the story. I wonder since this was originally plotted to be a novella but was lengthened that's why? Like if Sierra decided to write a full novel it would have been more developed? I'm not sure, I just wanted more.
This story has a lot going on and I (again) think if this had been longer or more developed it would have been stunning. We have a great setup plot with Lox being on the run with government secrets that set up Sierra's new series (which I am super excited about) and we have 3 amazing characters.
I love Lox, Rafe, and Marian and it is very clear that they all have chemistry however everything just fell flat. I wanted more groveling and more tension, I wanted more time for them all 3 together. Each of them needed more time and development before saying I love you. This book had all the beautiful pieces and foundations of a great story but it never got expanded on. Especially because there were glimpses in here that truly showed how beautiful this relationship could be. I wonder too if this had a direct sequel of the characters I would have enjoyed it more knowing we were getting a continuation of their story.
I'm not sure if I am making a lot of sense but I just wanted more and I am really sad that this ended up being a disappointment for me.
Jeepers, a Robin and Marion book! I was so excited and went in not knowing if it was historical or a modern re-telling. To be fair, it wouldn’t have mattered to me either way because I adore Sierra’s writing.
Marian Fitzwalter is a kinky little girl who, once upon a time was in love with Robin Loxley but Robin left her to pursue her own adventures so off she goes to find kink elsewhere.
Along comes Rafe De Lacy with his fancy shoes and Tom Ford suits and with his big hands, perfect for spanking. Rafe has history with Robin too. Oh my oh my, a delicious threesome!
I do love threesome books but usually I’m all about two men and a lady. Still, I found this super hot.
It is a modern re-telling not historic, although we do have Sherwood Forest and a band of merry men. I did love it but the ‘work’ done by Robin and Rafe didn’t feel explained enough. It felt a bit rushed.
This was really good and very sexy but I am realizing Sierra Simone's writing doesn't really do it for me anymore. Her sentences are overwrought and I find myself laughing at the absurdity of it all. I have zero plans to read the Camelot series or whatever Sherwood is the beginning of. Anyway, I own a few more Simone books that I plan to read and then I will move on from the author.
Wish I knew about it before I read the Lyonesse series but that’s ok! That final scene with Lox, Rafe, and Marian. Whoof. YES. Yum. 🙌
hopefully we’ll see them come back in Bitter Burn because I have questions on how Rafe knows Isolde, what he told Mark about her, and how Lackland comes back with Ys
I honestly just loved every single moment Mark was brought up because my obsession with him is a powerful heady thing that refuses to let go of me. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
However this was spicy and short. A one sitting kind of read.
I love Sierra Simone and i love that all the books are connected to the New Camelot series, but this one had a pretty rush storyline😭
I loved the rivalry between Robin „Lox“ (i called her Lex in my head all the time while reading) and Rafe🎀
I enjoyed it, Marian was also pretty nice but the fact that i was not captured enough to read a second book about them (if they would have been one) showed me much
Super hot novella with FFM kink and an intriguing spy plot. I found it quite humorless and at times melodramatic, but that’s a personal take. Overall engaging, and (have I mentioned?) brutally hot.
