Finn McCallum has not had much luck with love. After a failed proposal a year prior and many women attempting to trap him in London, he finds himself at home in the lowlands of Scotland, with only his mother and grandmother for company. Until someone knocks on his front door in the pouring rain.

Waking up in the pelting rain with no recollection of who she is or how she got there, Lainey finds she has no other recourse but to walk and find shelter. When she is greeted by unfamiliar, yet kind faces, she realizes she has no choice but to stay. But when she finally regains her memories, it may be too late. The course of her life might be changed forever.

I had such high hopes for this. I wanted to love it and I loved some of it. The beginning just drug for some reason I can't quite tell you why. I almost put it down, I just didn't feel it. Once they got married things picked up. I actually LOVED there interactions together. There was a little too much repetitive mind talk. But overall the writing was good, the story was good and the characters were different and odd and I liked that. The hero was just so dang sweet!
This is a proper romance with a couple kisses and no religion

Finn McCallum wasn’t looking for love, but when a mysterious and beautiful stranger shows up at his doorstep, he has no choice but to welcome her in.

This love story is anything but conventional and Audra Wells brings the reader deep inside the middle of all the feelings. Witty banter and authentic relationships create a story that will keep readers turning pages.

Cute fun story, however…
I don’t get along with books that have miscommunication or it’s based off a lie of some sort. I have a hard time enjoying the growth of the characters together because I know it’s just going to end in an argument when they find out about it or finally come to an understanding and then have a few pages of them figuring it out and then the end. So as this book came to be one of those, I really couldn’t enjoy their growth as they got married and started to work out their life together. It was just making me crazy as Finn even from the time he decided to marry Lainey thinks in his thoughts that after meeting her father it’s probably him that set a trap, if there was one… and he frankly forgives her from the beginning- and as he comes to love her he has multiple conversations about him not caring about the past anymore… so as it gets closer to the big reveal, I’m not even wanting to read anymore because his reaction is now going to go against who his character has become- which it does. I am glad however that grandma pretty much tells him how to fix it within one page and we don’t have to wait a chapter for him to be himself again.
I can appreciate that he would be upset a bit, but he had seriously been such a kind and loving guy- for him to react the way he did goes against their whole growing together. In this case of how it was written, he should have just given Lainey a hug and said he loved her, and talked through it then and there- that would have been way more plausible to their coming to love each other, and would have added to the book. The conversation Finn had with his grandma should have been the conversation he had with Lainey after the big reveal. So, that would have been an alternate ending in my opinion- I really did love the story and idea and growth of the characters, getting over their own insecurities and coming to love each other even from a rocky beginning- but I really did not like the reaction to the big secret- it made it frustrating and took away from my enjoyment of the story.

Also, I think this book comes after “Her Fantasies”… I haven’t read that one, but it has Ben and Emma in it, so I figure it’s their story.. this book comes after that. I felt like it was a good stand alone. But it might have been good to read the other one first as Finn and Emma have a history together in that book

Scottish romance! Finn McCallum has taken over as heirs do and lives at his home with his grandmother and mother. His cousin and his cousin’s wife Emma(a woman Finn kissed once and proposed to but rejected him but they are good friends now) visit him. While they are visiting a woman shows up on Finn’s doorstep with a head injury and claiming she doesn’t know her name or who she is. Finn, after being in situations of women trying to trap him into marriage is suspicious of her. And his mother is too. He finally accepts that her injury is real and welcomes her to his home. She soon remembers her name is Lainey. Lainey makes friends with Emma.

This is the 2nd book in a series. However it works great as a standalone. I LOVED this book! The amnesia trope got me I must say. 😊 I’m going to try not to spoil anything. I loved the unexpected turn this took (at least for me) when Lainey remembers who she is and her father shows up. I loved Finn and Lainey’s relationship. I like how he finally lets himself trust her and how they grow in their relationship. This is the first clean romance I’ve read located in Scotland which was fun! So many great moments in this book! Clean read just some kisses. Swoon worthy! Definitely recommend!

Rated PG

This was not my favorite book from this author. There were inconsistencies, and the story seemed to be pushed along instead of flowing.
The FMC has amnesia and doesn't know if she is a good person or not, but she knows that she doesn't like to drink? It was odd what she knew and didn't know of herself. Perhaps it would have worked if it had been explained more, but as it was, it just seemed like an inconsistency.
There is quite a bit of repetitiveness. Something is stated, and then on the next page, it is stated again. The characters talk about it, so it is stated again. It was like the author was trying to remind us why this info was important.
The "issue" was such a non-issue. It made both characters seem silly and naive. They are 28 and 34, and yet they couldn't get through this one simple thing without a huge issue. It took away from the characters and storyline instead of adding to it.
*This book is rated PG. There is no swearing and only one scene with very mild violence. There are two mild kisses and one very mild fade to black scene.

Finn and Lainey's Story . . .

Finn McCallum is tired of the pressure in London and returns home to the Scottish lowlands for some peace. A surprise knock on the door introduces him to Lainey Davidson who is standing in the pouring rain with no idea who she is or what has happened to her. She is permitted to stay, but will she regain her memories?

I enjoyed this story very much with the mystery of their late night visitor. Is she is danger? Is she victim or an accident or attack? It was exciting to turn the pages and look for answers. I didn’t like reading the attempt at showing an accent in their speech, but I understand it’s an attempt to make it all more “real”. But the story line was really good and easily kept my attention from beginning to end. Grab your copy and enjoy their story!

If you read Her Fantasies, then you were introduced to Ben’s Cousin Finn.

Finn, a wealthy Laird who just lost his father and gained a title, is 34, and unwed.

Finn wants to marry for love but because of his wealth, is always unsure of women’s motives.

On the morning his cousin Ben and wife Emma arrive for a visit, they are surprised by another.

An injured women, claiming she doesn’t remember who she is.

Is she telling the truth or is this another scheme to force marriage upon the Laird?

A Heart Caught Unaware is a story about trust and forgiveness.

I truly enjoyed getting swept away in the drama, the new love and of course the Scottish Castle that is backdrop to it all.

Original and captivating story

Enjoyed this story. The storyline was original, the characters were well developed and relatable, and the dialogue was well thought out. Unfortunately, the writing was not so great: there were several flagrant grammatical errors, for instance « the air was taught with unsaid words » . The word should be « taut »; this error was repeated a few times. There were also other instances where words were misspelled or misused. I feel that for a writer, this is inexcusable.

Finn and Lainey.
Some interesting twists in this one my raining night the heroine shows up to the hero’s home with an injury and cannot remember who she is. Now if that is not bad enough someone else shows up and causes a bit of stir. Who is the heroine? Is her showing up to his home a good thing or? I liked how the story developed it was an enjoyable read. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.

who am I?

A story that started with a girl who could not remember her name. What a strange beginning that was followed by even stranger happenings. Laird Finn was a kind gentleman. Lainey was a beautiful young woman. Many ups and downs in this relationship kept me reading. I would have liked an extended epilogue so I knew what happened in their future.

Wonderful

What a great story this is! I throughly enjoyed it and I enjoyed more of Emma and Ben. Wonderful characters in this story as well. Lainey and Finn both needed each other to grow and forgive in the events of the story. I hope that there's more in store for Emma and Ben and Lainey and Finn to share in each other's lives. Great job on this story and series.

This was truly a sweet story. Two people unsure of their worthiness and even more unsure of heart.

There proves to no shortage of uncertainty when it comes to knowing another person's heart. When a young beautiful woman shows up on the doorstep of a wealthy Scottish Laird, all manner of mischief and misconceptions arise, but the final result is wonderful. Enjoy!

This little Scottish drama has its ups and downs. Overall, I found it to be an interesting read. Definitely along the lines of regency Cinderella story - just that Cinderella was never from a wealthy family. There is no background as to why her aunt was able to teach her to be a lady - one of the holes in the story.

so clever and a great read

I love the setting, the way the author slowly opens the characters to each other, and how clever the plot it. This was such a great read I couldn’t put it down! I highly recommend and can’t wait to read more of Ms Wells’ books!

Sweet Romance

This book was such a sweet twist on the marriage of convenience trope. I loved how the author spent time developing the characters before AND after the marriage. Very great book with excellent background characters!

idk if I’ve read too many regency romances back to back but this just didn’t hit for me
the timing felt off and even though I should’ve felt anticipation surrounding the main female characters situation…I didn’t
but like I said it could just be my fault so if your looking for a very short and fluffy book (that has some mentions of physical intimacy between married characters but is otherwise mostly clean) this is for you
