Imagine Me

Rate this book
Shane’s her brother’s best friend and thirteen years older than her. Juliana knows his desire to be the loner and to never settle down.

But none of that stops her from showing up at his hotel room late one night.

Months later, she imagines every scenario for when she runs into Shane again. However, she never imagined him brushing off their scorching night together. She never imagined him calling her a ‘little girl’ who can’t handle a man.

His words ignite a fire in Juliana. If she has to date every single guy in Cincinnati, she’ll prove that she is more than capable of “handling” a man. Except Juliana and Shane can’t stay away from each other, so they set up some rules; only sex, and no telling her brother.

It doesn’t take long for the sex to turn into feelings, and Juliana can feel his icy exterior melting. Is he willing to risk his best friend for a chance at love?

For Juliana, that might be too good to imagine.

An as*hole hero vs a doormat heroine: Perrrrfect combination.

One humiliates, the other allows it to happen… in the name of lust and love!

Pffft! Such a frustrating story.

***********************************************

Characters:

Shane is a very annoying character, an as*hole & douche-bag, who pushes away the heroine, Juliana, all the time because he is 13 years older than her and she is his best friend’s sister.

Fine!?

No not fine because in between his pushing, he also gives in to her and has sex with her countless times!

Such a man of his word!

***********************************************

The title of the book should be "Beg Me" instead of Imagine Me!

Other suggestions:

Beg me till the end of the world
Beg me, you little stupid girl
Let me humiliate you
Let me use you
I am an as*hole, ha ha!
How stupid you can be in the name of love!?

%90 of the book, she practically begs him to be with her by throwing herself at him.

She goes into his hotel room and seduces him… 9 months pass and no words from him!

Then, she pretends to be dating with other men to make him jealous but our dear writer humiliates her in each case for Shane to see her pathetic attempts in dating.

***********************************************

Shane keeps calling Juliana a child or a little girl. He says her brother is very important for him and he cannot continue doing this.

description

I wanted to yell:

“Why in the hell did you let it happen if he was so important to you? As*hole!”

Many conversations like the one below doesn't teach her to stay away from him, she still insists that he has walls that she needs to crack!

“No, Mini MacCabe.” His tone was condescending, as if he were speaking to a child, and it was the first hit to my confidence. “I work with your brother and just because you caught me off guard that night, doesn’t mean I’ll make the same mistake again.”
Mistake? Mistake? The word rolled over me, crushing my lungs under the weight of what it meant. I was a mistake?
“You’re cute, and you’re a good f*ck, but I’m much too old for you. Find some little boy your own age to play with.”
And with that, he left me alone in the hallway.

***********************************************

Juliana cannot stand being without Shane and after a few unsuccessful attempts of dating other men to make him jealous, she tries other ways to get his attention and each time she degrades herself to lower and lower levels.

She texts him messages, sending her pictures in sexy lingerie and then she goes to his house wearing lingerie only under her coat.

“You want to play with me, little girl? You want me to teach you what it feels like to be f*cked by a man, unlike those boys who don’t know what to do?”
“Yes, sir. Teach me.”

She begs him to be with her, saying her brother didn't need to know and the as*hole accepts it in the end and they begin to have their secret affair.

Still, he pulls himself from time to time, feeling scared that it would grow to be more than something he can handle. She lets him use her weakness towards him and accepts him to her bed each time he comes back.

She does anything and everything to keep him. Even she says she loves him whereas he answers her by saying that it was just f*cking between them.

“Juliana, don’t be naive and make this into something it’s not. Jack has become my family, and I am not willing to risk that on something as flimsy as a love proclamation. It’s not worth it.”

***********************************************

There was a bit of groveling by him in the last %10 of the book after her brother Jack learnt about them but nothing could save the book at that point for me!

Conclusion: Waste of my time and the reason of the increased level of my stress hormones!

P.S. Was I supposed to feel sorry for his lonely childhood in foster care and be happy that she relentlessly tried to melt his icy heart and teach him to love?? Well, I must be heartless because I didn't!

If there’s one thing that Fiona Cole masters then it’s writing scorching hot sex scenes. There’s plenty of them in Imagine Me and the chemistry between Julianna and Shane is insane. I was introduced to them in Deny Me and Shame Me Not but Imagine Me can easily be read as a standalone.

Shane was definitely frustrating the hell out of me with his hot/cold behavior and I was waiting for him to man the f**k up. He did in the sweetest and swoon worthy way. He’s definitely an experienced man who’s had his share of women including Julianna, who can’t forget about their one night together or his delicious and skilled mouth. She’s a funny, quirky and strong woman who won’t let her parents or her brother Jack decide her future. In their eyes she’s the baby in the family and she just wants to prove them wrong.
Julianna and Shane were so much fun. Their chemistry was undeniable and incredible hot. Both wanted something out of their arrangement and Julianna was brave enough to voice it whereas Shane was had his reasons for pulling away.

The secondary characters were super. Julianna’s brother Jack and their friends added some humor to the story. So did her roommate Jolene. They’re more than just friends they’re each other’s family. Imagine Me made me laugh, swoon and hot as hell. Fiona Cole didn’t disappoint.

5 "I need a Shane" Stars!!!!

I had the pleasure of reading my first Fiona Cole book earlier this year and I've been forever hooked! She's become a one-click author for me. And Imagine Me is just another delectable read. It's tantalizing and oh-so-very scrumptious. A sassy heroine and a come hither hero. Ugh, I abso-freakin-lutely LOVED this book! The storyline flowed flawlessly. Fiona knocked it out of the park.

Juliana was a heroine I couldn't get enough of. She took matters into her own hands and I loved her for it! She didn't care what others thought. If she wanted something, get out of her way because she was going to make it happen.

Shane, Shane, Shane. Maybe if I keep repeating his name he'll come true. No? A girl can dream, can't she? Fuuuuu** I just, I'm at a loss for words when it comes to Shane. Gosh, he was such a man and that dirty mouth of his was off the charts HOT, HOT, HOT. *sigh* he made me so damn giddy.

Shane and Juliana were a force to be reckoned with. Their chemistry was undeniable. Those two created fireworks that burned so freaking brightly. I couldn't get enough of them. They were two characters that just put a smile on my face.

Fiona, girrrrrl go on with your bad self. I cannot, I repeat, I cannot get enough of your writing. You've become one of my favorite authors that I desperately am on pins and needles awaiting your next book release. And I'll patiently wait, but until then I'll just re-read your other books until that time comes.

No one writes sex scenes like Fiona Cole. No. One.

Julianna may be my favorite Fiona heroine. She's young, but tough as nails, especially since everyone who is supposed to help her tries to put her into a box of helplessness. You feel every ounce of her frustration and applaud her kick ass determination. She holds her own with Shane, the hot as hell over a decade older cop who knows all the right dirty words and moves to make her a puddle.

He doesn't make it easy, he's as infuriating as he is sex on a stick with the ways he tries to keep her at arms length, but he ended up winning me over. Fiona's writing is awesome and keeps getting better and better, I can't wait to see what she has in store next!

What to say what to say...

Oh I know! Let’s start with the fact that Fiona Cole doesn’t know how to write a bad book. It’s been proven with her backlist of 3, that’s right only 3, novels and it’s been proven all over again with Imagine Me. This author only has 4 novels under her name and she has become a forever one click author for me because she never disappoints! Like... EVER!

Imagine me was everything I thought it would be and more. The thing about Fiona’s books, is you go in, get a few chapters read, and you’ll have this BIG ASS cheesy smile on your face that refuses to lose its strength. Knowing that, FEELING that, you’re unprepared for just how in depth your feelings will be tested by the depths and layers presented in this book. Imagine Me falls into this category tremendously.

What I’m trying to get at here is this is a classic Fiona Cole book that shouldn’t be taken lightly no matter how funny it is. Most of her books are like that.

Imagine Me is a funny, yet sassy, sexy and steamy, yet very mature read. It’s got everything. Laughs, cries, ups and downs, sexy times, SWOON WORTHY TIMES, and a message that screams independence. I loved everything about this book from the story line, to the characters I could sympathize with wholeheartedly. This author can seriously do no wrong.

2.5 stars. I did not really enjoy this book. This is Juliana and Shane's story. Juliana hooks up with Shane, her brother's best friend, at her brother's wedding. After the wedding, she moves to Cincinnati, where her brother lives, to get away from her parents and try to be independent. Shane also lives in Cincinnati. He is a police detective and Juliana is a forensic science master's degree student who gets assigned to the police department lab as an intern. She wants to spend more time with Shane and constantly pursues him. But he thinks Juliana is too young and he calls her little girl. He is not interested in a relationship and also doesn't want to hurt his friendship with Juliana's brother. Finally, she wears Shane down and they begin a no-strings sexual relationship. Juliana wants more and she falls for Shane, but when she tells him, he runs scared. That breaks her heart, but Shane does finally come around in the end, admitting he loves her too.

Shane was an ok character, but I didn't really like Juliana. She annoyed me a good bit. She tries to come off as strong and independent, but she forgets to pay her bills and doesn't know what to do when her car breaks down. She's 25 and a master's degree student. She shouldn't be so helpless. Also, she was constantly throwing herself at Shane and being turned down. The first time they hooked up after her brother's wedding, before this book begins, Juliana showed up naked in Shane's hotel room. Back in Cincannati, in this book, she continuously throws herself at him and he continuously turns her down. She even shows up at his door naked wearing only a coat. She still lusts after him even though he treats her like dirt. Then, once she wore him down, he decides to start sleeping with her and he treats her like a sex toy. No talking, no relationship, just sex. She builds it up to be this big thing, but Shane comes off as not that interested. I thought Juliana needed to read the book "He's not that into you". He acts hateful and pushes her away most of the book, while she chases him. They both seemed immature and annoying.

The story and the writing quality is not bad, but the overdramatic characters and manufactured drama ruined the book for me. I was disappointed because of all of the positive buzz this book has gotten on Goodreads.

I loved this sexy romance from Fiona Cole! She has a way of making you fall in love with her characters. Even if they are jerks! I think it's because they are so believable. It could also have to do with the fact that she is a gifted writer who writes outside the box and makes you feel everything that her characters feel.

Shane. My god this man. He pissed me off so bad, but I LOVED him. A LOT. I loved his cocky attitude and the things he would say to Julianna had my jaw dropping. And my panties too. The push and pull between these two was so infuratingly delicious I didn't know if I was coming or going...mostly coming. And when they finally collided. Man. Oh. Man. It was insane. This guy can dirty talk so good. SO. GOOD. I felt so engulfed in their passion I never wanted this book to end.

What I loved about this story was that it wasn't just about the sexy times. Trust me. I laughed, I cried, I smiled my face off. Also, I may have died a few times. I also adored the secondary characters and the banter was epic. Fiona is one of my favourite authors after having read her previous release, Shame Me Not. I can never get enough of her words and cannot wait to read more from her. If you love a brother's best friend romance, with an age gap, a dirty talking alpha asshole, with lots of sexy times and feels, then you need to read Imagine Me!

4-4.5 stars!! I'm such a sucker for older heroes/older brother's best friend tropes, which is why I couldn't resist this! It's my first Fiona Cole book too, and it definitely won't be my last. The MCs had incredible chemistry (*fans self*) and the angst was delicious. Highly recommend this book!

Another fantastic story from this author - she's quickly becoming a favourite of mine.

Shane is definitely the alpha assehole character we love and there were times I wanted to punch him in the junk. BUT .... he's definitely got his reasons/history for the way he is. Plus he's seriously HOT so I had to forgive him.

Juliana was a really interesting character, book smart and life experience poor. She is finding her way and really started to stand on her own in this story. I loved her relationship with her brother and her BFF. Genuine and realistic - they really added to the depth of the story.

Now it's a Fiona Cole book so you know the chemistry is BEYOND HOT & the sex scenes require a special friend or BOB afterwards. Wowsa!!!

Definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a sexy, smart read.

I received an ARC of this book.

WOW! WOW! WOW!

This was another great read by Fiona Cole. She has sealed the deal as a one-click author for me with this sassy, sexy tale of Shane, Juliana’s brother’s older best friend who shouldn’t fall for the young, feisty and unforgettable younger sister. You don’t mess with the younger sister, especially when you’re a closed off loner like Shane who never intends to marry and have a family. But Juliana is nothing if not persistent and knows what she wants…

The chemistry between Shane and Juliana is explosive and jumps off the pages. You can’t help but be in the moment when Juliana and Shane spend time together, feeling every emotion that they do. You will find yourself falling in love with both of them. Juliana’s need for independence and drive to make something out of her life is something I admire about her character. She doesn’t want to fall in line with what her family expects of her. Shane is…well, at times he truly is an ass. He’s older, set in his ways and doesn’t want to acknowledge that Juliana is quickly becoming important to him. You learn why he’s so closed off, but the more you get to know him the more you realize what a swoon-worthy guy he really is. He does care, he does look out for the people he considers family.

I loved the development of their relationship. They complimented each other so well and the banter and laughs they shared were pure bliss. You can’t help but smile while reading their story. I can’t lie, there will be tears. Shane shows a side of himself that you will ooooo and ahhhhh over. Yes, you’ll laugh, you’ll cry and hope beyond all odds that Shane and Juliana find their way to one another. The secondary characters are a big plus in this story too. You’ll quickly find yourself wanting to be part of “the gang.”

It’s hard to believe this is only Fiona’s 4th book. Her writing is flawless, captivating and all around enjoyable. Bottom line, I love their story and read it in one day because I could not put it down. If you’re looking for a new author that will have you smiling and wanting more, check out Fiona Cole.

I can’t remember the last time I hated a hero this much. There was not one redeeming thing about Shane and there really was no plot?? The main conflict throughout the whole book is that Shane is Juliana’s brother’s best friend and she’s younger than him. He constantly refers to this 25 YEAR OLD WOMAN, as a “little girl” 🤮 and she was the definition of a doormat. Only reason I didn’t dnf this is because I listened to it on audio.

Imagine Me by Fiona Cole was such a pleasure to read. If you enjoy a "best friend's little sister" rom com then you will love this quick read.

I love a story with strong sexual tension between characters, Shane and Juliana had plenty of it. While Shane was the typical man appearing cold and distant, Juliana was a breath of fresh air. I loved her outlook on getting what she wanted not letting her own insecurities get in her way.

The best part of reading this book was getting lost in the world that Fiona Cole creates. Every rollercoaster emotion, heartbreak and sweetness that she writes just wraps you up and takes you on a journey. You felt the frustration even as you laughed yourself silly over Juliana's dating history!

This was a perfect read for just something fun, quirky and sexy! Can't wait for more!

Imagine Me is why I read modern romance. Strong female characters with gusto and still humbled by insecurities are my jam. Hot, alpha, super sexy heroes who screw up over and over and refuse to believe their worth fill my heart with joy.

Fiona Cole is a phenomenal writer. Her words pull you into every moment, every emotion, and every frustrating road block like you are living the moments. Shane and Juliana are beautifully written and their journey is exhausting and perfect.

Sometimes love hits you when you least expect it but when you're lucky enough to be loved like you deserve, the reward is worth it. Shane and Juliana are that kind of love.

After finishing Deny Me and seeing a small glimpse of Juliana’s and Shane, I was anxious to see more of their relationship and where they were heading. I knew going in that Fiona was going to be taking me on a pretty wild ride considering our hero was 13 years older than Juliana. I was excited to see how the age difference would play out and how it would come into play. She definitely did not disappoint, and I was absolutely hooked from the very first page.

Juliana moved to Cincinnati to get away from her stifling parents. Being the youngest in the family, they’ve always tried to protect Juliana and would love nothing more than to see her as a society wife, hanging on the arm of a Southern gentleman. Juliana, however, craves independence and is looking to prove to everyone that she’s no longer a little girl and can take care of herself. And the first person to whom she wishes to prove that she is no longer a child is Shane. The one man who insists on calling her “a little girl.”

I loved Juliana. She was fierce, and independent, and didn’t put up with Shane’s crap. She called him out on his actions, and was not afraid to give her opinion. She strived so hard to prove her independence, and I loved every single minute of it. She was smart, funny, and a big science nerd. I bonded with her over her love of quirky t shirts and funny coffee mugs.

And Shane. Oh Shane. Shane was one of the hottest male leads I have read in a very, very long time. He was so amazingly alpha I may have squealed in delight. And his bedroom moves were freaking fantastic. There was one point when I’m pretty sure my mouth was hanging open and I was fanning myself with my iPad. I’ve said it before, and I will say it again. Fiona Cole is an absolute genius when it comes to writing sex scenes. I read a lot of romance and hers are definitely my favorite!

This is an older brother's best friend/younger sister love story. I think I've read Fiona Cole before but she's not one of my go to authors because there are so many. After I read this story I'm trying to figure out why the heck not?!

YES to all of the following:

Hot sex
Detailed sex
Dirty, alpha H
Strong, nobody's pushover h

I loved that FC wrote a strong h. Maybe Juliana is still trying to figure out her life (career, away from a close family) but she's not a fool and more than holds her own. Watching her with Shane was great, sad, and sexy sometimes all at the same time. I actually liked her a lot and sometimes authors don't give us enough of that.

Shane, this man..... He is everything and more you want in a romance H. He's broody, alpha, sexy (!!!), and has some inner demons. Every time he told Juliana "it wasn't worth it" I wanted to kick him in his amazing a##. Watching him hurt Juliana, intentionally or not, pissed me off yet you get to see what makes him tick based on his childhood and his abandonment issues. Watching him fight the pull of Juliana you just wanted him to freaking give in to it but where would the story be then?

The best part of this story for me was when he groveled to get Juliana back. And he groveled beautifully. He made me laugh and made me want to push Juliana headlong back to him because of his words. This is where FC shined in this part of their relationship development. She showed Shane's weaknesses and let Juliana be a strong h unafraid to fight for herself.

Really enjoyed this story and these two MCs. Now I need to go find more FC books to download.

Well, go ahead and surprise me then Fiona Cole!

Previously to having started reading this book, I was in a major book funk. Like you wouldn’t believe. So there was I searching for something good at the same time praying that what I chose was, in fact, good when this little baby crossed my path.

And now, having finished it, I AM SHOOK.

Juliana is trying to prove to everybody and their mama that she is an independent woman. Growing up in an overprotective family wasn’t easy, so she decided to move out of her parents’ house and move into a new city to pursue more out of her career. Shane was not one of the reasons why she decided to move. Her one-night stand (who also happened to be her older brother’s best friend - you heard that noise? THAT’S ME SQUEALING) had nothing to do with it. Or so she liked to think so.

Now, at first, I was sort of apprehensive about Juliana and Shane’s chemistry. Their story had already kind of started on a previous book and until they started having some serious dialogues I just couldn't really feel the sparks the author was so obviously trying to transmit to her readers

Ok, so you’re probably wondering why, if I liked this so much, didn’t I give a higher rating, right? Well, not everything was fun and roses. Juliana’s childishness was way too much for me sometimes. And Shane’s assholeness was already pissing me the fuck out right around chapter eight .

I'm just going to patiently wait for Jolene's book (Juliana's best friend). I feel like she will be one heck of a heroine!

"Let me just say, this book is SMOKING HOT!
Fiona Cole hasn't let me down with her ability to suck me completely into her books! After reading Deny Me, I was an instant fan of hers, but now that I've read Imagine Me she has become an automatic one-click author for me.
Imagine me is a story of Shane and Juliana. He is quite a bit older then her and also her brother's best friend. They are both stubborn and not ready to commit to any type of relationship, until they spend one incredible night with just the two of them wondering around Cinci. Shane is such an asshole, but you can't help but love him.
I loved the depth of both of these characters and the authors ability to make it feel as if you truly know them.

Loved this!! Fiona can do no wrong.

I’m going to start off by saying that Fiona is an AMAZING writer. She is definitely one of my new favorite authors this year and I know I will end up buying anything she releases in the future. Her writing is flawless and every book I have read by her just sucks you in and you won’t want to stop reading.

Ever since I met Shane and Juliana in the previous books, I’ve been craving their story. When I found out we were getting one I was super excited because of course we have the age gap between them, plus its a brothers-best friend story. Two of my favorite tropes. Once I started I couldn’t stop reading. Juliana is such a strong and independent woman and you can’t help but admire and maybe even relate to a little in what she goes through to prove her independence and strength. She also shows vulnerability and it makes her even more human, because while one can be strong and independent, there’s always a weaker side. Fiona portrayed this really well with Juliana. As for Shane, it was interesting to see how he realty with his feelings as the book went on. He was such a quite and broody character and seeing his personality and actions throughout the story develop was good. There was also several funny moments, especially with the previous characters and all the stuff some walked into. This story was intense, emotional, funny and overall just plain good. Fiona is an amazing writer and I am so excited for anything she’ll release next!

4 Stars!

Fiona Cole is a new author to me and this is my first read of her, and let me tell you, I was hooked from the jump. It had just about everything I love in a hot read. I'm also a total sucker for the "falling for your older brother's best friend" trope.

Juliana & Shane are a 5 star couple in my book.
*He's broody, a bit of an a**hole, a total alpha, and just the right amount of damaged.
*She's super smart, independent, determined to make it on her own even though she comes from a life of privilege, and not afraid to go after what she wants.
*Their chemistry is seriously hot and I was totally invested in them.

It's has the good kind of frustration, an addictive taboo romance, and the steamy scenes are hot AF.

It dropped a little because the story was just a little over the top for me at times. I also would have loved a little more of an epilogue. But at the end of the day I totally loved this and will be following this author going forward. Cheers.

Juliana and Shane have some HOT chemistry! Both of them won't be able to stop the inevitable for long. I loved imagine me it was so cute and fun, and super intense! The Shane was an asshole at times and I wanted to shake him so he could wake up but eventually he did. Juliana was sweet and kind and never backed down when Shane pushed her away and I loved that!!! The story had a fantastic conclusion!

My lord.. where do I get a Shane for my private use?!

I had fallen in love with Fiona Cole's writing in Shame Me Not.. and Imagine Me is quite different, but just as great. I was so lucky to beta read this story, and I absolutely loved Shane and Juliana.

Juliana is a strong, independent woman, who has had to fight against her southern, conservative familiar background constantly in order to establish herself as more than a mans's armpiece.
Shane is of the strong, tall, brooding type.. the kind that isn't interested in relationships. Certainly not any with his best friend's 10+year younger sister.

Their problems go far beyond the fighting for or against family, the forbidden-ness of the connection via the brother/best friend, and much more into how we live our lives, and who we let have a say in the running of it. It's about opening up despite past losses and heartbreak, about standing ground for what you believe in, and what you want.
And underneath a damn hot love story with a swoon-worthy hero, and an admireable heroine.

I cannot wait to go back and read some other character's stories.. or see them again in the future.
Hot, sexy, swoony, sweet, and more than I expected.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH!!!!

This is the first book I read of Fiona Cole, and I can already tell you that this will NOT be my last. Imagine Me was amazing!! I started it and finished it so fast that I think I even cried, I didn’t want it to end. This story had it all!! It had love, sexiness, drama, and swooning. The characters were amazing; everything about this book was amazing.

Juliana and Shane were the best book couple I have read in a while, their chemistry, their issues, their love, everything was just perfect. When I started this book I didn’t know what to expect, when I finished it I wanted more. I still want more of Shane and Juliana.

This book is about taking a chance, it’s about not being scared, and it’s about always fighting for what you want in life. Shane isn’t the easiest guy, I wanted to jump in the book and slap him many times. Juliana for me was amazing, she loves what she loves and she never gives up. Juliana is this character that needs love, she needs to be treated like a queen, Shane is the right guy for her. What starts off as something casual turns into something hard to leave.

This is a MUST READ!!!! Amazing book by Fiona Cole.
