Basil Atkins' once normal way of life gets upturned in what feels like a second. Not only does she discover that one of her fathers is descended from a lineage of werewolves, which she learns while the world is ending, she and her parents are forced to try to make a new life despite the fact that humanity is crumbling all over the globe.
Then, just when she believes she's finally getting a handle on this New World Order, two brothers show up. Brothers who are Weres themselves. Brothers who she finds herself beginning to develop feelings for.
But she's human. Regardless of how she feels, there's no way she can truly make a life with either Justin or Vincent. Unless there's something about her that she still doesn't know...
I’ve always been a writer. My Pop-Pop was always my biggest fan and encouraged my love of reading. From my first stories about talking wolves to my first published novels with witches and lost love. Crafting an enchanting and riveting tale is nothing new to me.
As a black woman, I strive to put us on the forefront of romance novels. To put us in fantastical and daring situations that carve heroines everyone loves to read about.
Other than being a writer, I fancy myself quite the poet.
When I’m not doing anything that has to do with writing; I enjoy watching my favorite YouTubers, playing video games and sleeping.
Didn’t finish. Could not get into the writing style. This author has another book I trudged myself through that I eventually couldn’t finish either. I think I might just stay away from her books.
This was a very busy story. So much happens but I really like the writing style with the interchanging POVs. Justin and Vincent where amazing but Basil wasn’t the type of fmc I like. She’s not the kind that I hate but she was so annoying it almost felt like the author did it intentionally. There are some shifts and jumps that are a little weird but i understand the need since the story takes place over a year or so time wise. This is one of those read’s where it’s just good I didn’t love it but it was a really solid read.
First time reading from this author and I like the storyline. The brothers are definitely total opposites but I love how the heroine brings balance to the group. Great read
Just discovered this author and so happy I did! Paranormal, apocalyptic, shifter romance with the protagonists being people of color?! Sign me up. Well written, a few typos but nothing to distract from the story. Definitely going to look for more books from Ms. Cox.
Super glad to read this smexy fantasy with POC being the main characters! Loved the post apocalyptic world building!! Great flow, drama, shifter, super hot smexy times🔥 because it was a 2 for one. (MFM) Great read and I look forward to more in this series. I need to know more by Auntie!!
I loved this book. It was a nice love story with just the right amount of drama/action. I'm so glad it ended the way that it did. However, I would like to read more from this author and about these characters.
Just love this book I could not put it down when I tell you that it 4 am and just got done. You will fall in love with this character and want more get the book he won’t be disappointed
Okay, I love this storyline! I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Tierra was extremely creative and very erotic. I hate that I’ve read the whole book already! Look forward to more from this desire driven author.
Plenty of action and good characters. I was glad when Basil went back to look for Vincent, she felt in her heart that he wasn't dead. I loved the fact that she had twins, it meant both of her mates had a child of their own.
The first 30% of the book I was wondering if I would be able to finish it. Zombie apocalypse? Meh. Lycans? Better. Having the book open on Basil's fathers? Confusing. From there, it's a jumble of information and the primary character hasn't made an appearance which made the book feel less interesting and more like a chore to get through. Then when the men rescue Basil and continue on, the detail around that take up too much time I felt into Vincent and Justin come into the picture. From there, the book begins to pick up and could've overcome the slow beginning because it was an engaging read at that point. Watching as Basil started to come into her own, seeing how her Lycan genes were beginning to change her, and learning more about Lycans made me sit up and pay attention. Add in some action and knowledge drops strategically then suddenly the book is going well. I enjoyed reading about how the brothers overcame their minor hostilities and how the three of them, Basil, Vincent, and Justin bonded together as they traveled to a place of relative safety to join her aunt and pack. Hopefully.
The thing that held this book back I felt was the lack of details in parts of the book where they were needed and adding too many details where they weren't needed. At one point, Basil, after having been bitten, is in the process of her first shift as a Lycan over the next several weeks and is told that her heat is also coming. A time when male Lycans would fight over her and could scent for miles, only for the time to go past and it not be slowed and pinpointed, same with the love scenes. Contrast that with the amount of time spent on the details of her fathers' journey to rescue Basil who was trapped by zombies somewhere.
In any case, the back portion is good and I'm glad I hung in there with the book.
This was a good read about wolf dynamics in a zombie world. Eric and Cecil as my two dads were perfect ex military parents. The issues of brothers, Justin and Vincent were believable as siblings struggling with who felt loved by their mother and two dads. It played a big part in how each brother acted the way they did. For me the hard story was Basil. Yes her dad's spoiled her and treated her like a child sometimes. But they also taught her survival skills and power girl thoughts. Yet through out the book she would do things that made no sense. They said she was head strong but others had to save her, even suffering the consequences of her actions. She acted more like a teenager than an adult.
Strong, interesting start and middle. It was a page-turner until it wasn't. I enjoyed the romantic tension and different personalities of the men. The two fathers were great characters as well.
The middlish / end was full of conveniently poor and irrational decisions. Also, the heroine did not have enough personality to be desired so hotly by these men. I'm sorry - especially with more options that present themselves. She was pretty, which is even one of her nicknames from one the men, but quite bland overall and immature. I took a long break from this and honestly just skimmed the last half to find out what happened.
In this book survival is paramount. Surviving zombies, zombie weres, double crossing humans, and disloyal shifters is a constant struggle in this book for the heroine and her family. Move swiftly, stay safe, Gun cocked, eyes alert and ears peeled for possible danger. Trust no one. The heroine and her family have to make it to the families meetup location. But they face major opposition along the way. Somehow during all of this she gains 2 more protectors who have the potential to be more.
Yes there was some mistakes going towards the end but they was so small that I did have to stop, I could keep reading an still understand the story. I want more of this family. This was a great story that can be a series because I want to know about the Cougar shifters and her other aunt that is staying with a family of tiger shifters. That sounds like it will be fun. I look forward for more books from Ms. Cox in the future. Again happy read.😉
It was a good book, not the shifter romance I'm used too. There was adventure, turmoil and romance. A nice mix. There was sex scenes but for once I'm glad it wasn't so heavily focused in yhe book. A great balance it was, I wasn't hanging off the edge of my seat. There wasn't that much excitement but there was enough wonder and anticipation to keep it interesting. I recommend 🙌🏾
Apocalypse and shifters, some of my favorites in one. Overall I like the book but wish it was executed better. It was confusing at times to understand who was talking or what was happening. The pacing was weird - things were either happening slow, fast, or months just skipped by. Looking forward to seeing how the author grows throughout her career
What happened to Vincent. If I'm being honest Basil annoyed me a lot. But she kept me on the edge of my seat at times. They did not pay Tanya and Stacia back... They let them off light!! I was pissed about that! Felix was the only one who got what he deserved!! I enjoyed the book though... Lol too much snow for me but good book!
Story follows Basil a normal girl that finds out nothing she knew is normal, did I mention the world has been thrust into a zombie infested apocalypse. While she tries to navigate new normal she meets Justin and Vincent their Tall, hot and Werewolves. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️
DNF at 51%. i wanted to like this so i kept at it for longer than i should have. i can’t get into this writing style. it’s just too much work to stay invested in the story. it also feels like it’s too long? idk, i’m just not a fan.
Fantastic story and so close to the craziness happening in our world now. Loved everything about it. Well written and beautifully done, especially how everyone came together in times of stress and most especially at the end.
