The Lux Academy breeds destruction and hatred. Now, I will breed its end.
My pack was disseminated by Academy magistrates. Almost everyone was murdered and the children taken to be molded into fierce enemies of the wildlings .
The shifter packs and witch covens want revenge, and they don’t care if they bring pain and destruction to the innocent. But we can’t let our foes turn us into monsters.
There is a better way, and along with my triad—three faithful, strong, and sexy allies—I mean to find it. So we infiltrate their city and try to undermine them from within. Except, the Academy’s deceit and cruelty run deeper than we ever could have imagined.
If I’m to destroy them, I will have to make choices that might always haunt me, if I manage to escape with my life. And as every moment in Lux City becomes increasingly more dangerous for me and my friend, the choices become impossible.
I fear the end is near, and that I won’t live to complete the bond my fated mate craves.
If you enjoy Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, Patricia Briggs, Ilona Andrews, Kelly St. Claire, Shannon Mayer, Linsey Hall or anything paranormal romance, you will love this series.

OMG, I can't say enough. I read this in one sitting. I could not put it down. Sheela (Jazmin) is in the fight of her life. She wants to take down the Academy, but others just want to go in and take it down no matter what happens to the innocent. Can Sheela get her triad, sister and Bethel to help her? Can she survive if she does do it her way? Now I hope there is a spin off so I can find out more on Bethel and Novuk. I received a free copy for my honest review.
OMG what a conclusion! This has been an incredible series as we have followed Sheela and her triad as they try to take down the academy. Sheela is such a great character and has come such a long way in her story and grown so much and takes her position as leader of the group to complete their mission. Exciting, fast paced, action packed, more secrets are revealed, more twists and turns are thrown in, this has been one hell of a ride but the ending did it justice. I loved the characters, loved the storyline and this Is a trilogy I would definitely recommend and hope to maybe see a spin off or two??
This entire series has been a stair of three steps, the first book on the highest and now this one landing on the lowest. The entire story was just so underwhelming, lacking in depth and just overall very unbelievable. So much so that all of this bled onto the previous two books and made the whole series peppered with inconsistencies and plot … well, if not holes then problems.
Let’s start with the biggest issue considering it made the whole reason for the conflict seem like a huge plot hole; the oh so “powerful” magistrates that for years had managed to steal children and murder the supernatural, almost killing them off. It is mind boggling to me how they managed this now after having finished this book. Five shifters and one witch (sometimes not even that) succeeded in killing them all along with all the cities soldiers in a handful of days . How exactly did these eight power-vacuuming and magical magistrates and their accompanying soldiers steal and kill entire villages of magical beings for years when they couldn’t even handle six teenagers? Hell one of their magical bolts directly to the chest didn’t even kill, so how exactly was all of this possible? One could of course argue it was due to the triad thing and Jaz/Sheela’s out of this world powers, however at that point more than half of the magistrates an a crapton of soldiers had already been killed. Also, the whole half shifting and firebeast in itself was a huge bitter pill to swallow.
You mean to tell me that with no previous practice/hard work or struggle Sheela could half shift (which the book even mentioned only the most composed and experienced could do) within like ten minutes, and not only that but also learn how to pick locks? Then without rhyme or reason she out of all the shifters in the world could summon this inner firebeast. I don’t know about you but that is a plain old Mary Sue staring me in the face if I ever seen one. The book had ample opportunities throughout the book, hell the whole series, to actually set this up in a natural way to make sure that all this power was hard earned and from a character with flaws and depth and not from the snap of the fingers from a paper cutout of a character. There is no payoff if there is no setup to begin with. There is only a forced plot, a Mary Sue and her accessories called friends.
The one thing I can actually complement the story for its it hard tries in trying to build a sister and friend bond with the girls. Too bad it came at the cost of constantly parking the guys somewhere. Seriously, the guys might as well have not been a part of this mission since all the work and interactions were between the girls while the guys where just waiting somewhere or scouting. It made it extra unbelievable when the story tried to convince me that romances were developing between them all. I believe a romance between the girls before I believe on forming with the boys the way it was written. Especially with the whole Maki cheating past. Everyone is just way to forgiving of it, like he just accidentally stepped on someone’s foot rather than sleep with someone else. If that is what he did. The book actually never specifies nor does he give an explanation as to why he cheated if he knew Ila was “the one” for him. Excuse me, but kinda hard to see a reason for forgiveness when you don’t even know why it happen and what you are forgiving exactly.
To be honest the writing and how the entire plot was set up just came off as sort of childish and naive with TSTL characters (leaving bodies while sneaking that anyone can stumble upon, cartoonish villains one step away from curling mustaches while laughing, shutting a door without realizing that if they can open and shut it, then so can the ones they are shutting out). There was just a lack of consistency and depth throughout with a plan that doesn’t exist even tough they say they have one (they’re just winging it all the time and yet with no backup plans to the missing first plan), having a second potion after the first one was taken without explanation why they have one more, and the wildings inconsistency in knowledge (they knew what superheroes were somehow but not sandwiches) and that’s just to name a few. I could go on hours with weird names for things or persons, how forced interactions are or how the boys do not have any personality whatsoever. Either way, the writing could only hit surface level which created lackluster if barely even there romances, paper cutouts of characters and a Mary Sue protagonist.
Ingrid Seymour wraps up Sheela's story with Cry of the Damned, the third book in the Wild Packs series. It was an exciting read with Sheela fighting for her people's lives, fighting to get justice for the lives destroyed, and fighting to stop the corruption the Academy has perpetuated for generations.
Sheela has come a long way since the beginning of the series. She has learned the life she was meant to have was stolen from her, her past ruined and her future unsure but in the present, it's her mission to stop the Academy from destroying any more lives of the supernaturals. Somehow Sheela becomes the leader of this little rogue group consisting of her sister Ila, the witch Bethal, and her triad, Kell, Machi*, and Novak, leading them on a mission that will change their lives one way or another.
The story was interesting, Sheela has stepped into the role of leader easily, coming up with plans and making adjustments, and finding much-needed allies. Things flowed pretty smoothly, tying all the strings together in a way that made perfect sense. More of the Academy's dirt was revealed and the more I learn the more disgusted I feel at the Academy's behavior. It was interesting seeing the city of Lux itself, the non-Academy people, and what they think of the goings-on in their little city. I also loved the magic in this book, there wasn't much of it but new things were revealed.
Cry of the Wild was a great read and a good addition to the Sunderverse. Not only did Sheela finally find a place that felt like home (it's with the people she cares about) but she became a complete badass, I love her story and am so glad that she got her happy ending.
This book is packed with adventure. There are so many twists and turns in the story. And we all Knew Sheela was special however, you have no idea when it comes to her power! Kall finally makes his feelings known to her. I have no idea why it takes Sheela so long to decide what she feels. I felt bad for Kall. I think because Sheela never had relations with a guy played a major role here. The academy took that from her. They brainwashed her. The academy took so much from the packs & covens. They finally get what they deserve. And the help they receive is from some unlikely sources. I think you will fall in love with the people that help them end their people's suffering. These unlikely heroes risk everything to save the children. Then when Sheela can't figure out what to do with the kids that don't want to go back with them their new friends find the solution. They also provide everything they will need for their journey home. My hope is that Ingrid does a spin-off of this series and focuses on Bethel and Ila. I would love to see what happens to the pack after they get back to their homelands.
This was a good trilogy I enjoyed the differences in the story and it wasn't your same old fated mates romance. I would love to see a Novella for each of the boys esp Novak bit sad about him and Bereyl at the end 😩
With the remaining packs all wanting to go to war with Lux Academy, Sheela is determined to only bring down the Academy and not all the other innocents both inside and outside. She sneaks into the city with her Tetrad, sister and Berel and together they unravel their plan to bring down the Academy once and for all. Sheela witnesses first hand more of the academys lies but in them they find some allies who also see through the academys betrayal. Bringing them down once and for all won't be easy and once they do they then have to convince the thousand other children still under control from the magic that everything they've ever know is a lie not all will chose to believe Sheela but those who already have doubts will help everyone understand.... Not everyone will get their HEA but at least those who have suffered at the hands of the academy will finally get the justice they weren't granted in life. Recommend Reading 📚
This series is great if you want a fast paced quick read. Each book sits under 200 or so pages and follows Jaz/Sheela as she comes face to face with the vile truth of the academy who took her in as an orphan and their nefarious ways.
I enjoyed the plot and the pace, and the writing style made it easy to read without putting down.
I was a little confused in the first book. The Academy made it feel like maybe it was YA but after the fated mates were revealed it made it feel more NA, it mentions Sheela is 19 in book three but she also makes it seem like 18 is so young in that book, it made me think maybe she was college age up until her age was mentioned. Some clarity beforehand would have been good, but I read this while sick so maybe I missed it (didn’t process it being mentioned earlier).
I was hoping for a little more from the triad. The magic system was great, as was the world building but there was no strong bond between Sheela and Maki or Sheela and Novuk and I wished there was to drive home the strength of the team. Other than that, this was a great story.
What an epic ending to an amazing and fast paced saga. It had some really horrible imagery about human hatred and fear but such beautiful buffers when it came to love and acceptance. I loved it! And quite some twists and turns too, and the resolution was totally satisfying, well, almost, I would have loved Dresna to apologise, but that doesn't happen with nasty people, in books and especially not in real life lol! It's a short and sweet series, highly recommend this for witch and shifter lovers!
The author has out done herself again with another phenomenal and unique book! Sheela and her group of ragtag werewolves and witches was trying to fix the Lux Academy, as they were kidnapping young children and then brain washing them to forget what they were. There were magistrate's with lots of magic and Sheela knew what was happening at the Academy with the kids, sadly as the magistrate's tried killing her at one time. This series is great reading!
Jaz and her triad return to Lux City with a plan. But will it work is the name of the story. So many bad guys involved here that add to all the action, danger, mayhem, and outright craziness. But that is what makes this series so much fun and this one is just as good as the others. Glued to the end to see what the heroes will discover this time and how it will fit with everything else they know. Will Jaz and her triad be successful kept me reading to the end.
Total win for this conclusion to a great trilogy. Sheela and her small team of shifters and a witch are fighting to take down the academy while trying to protect as many people as possible. Fast paced, and beautifully crafted, I read this in a single sitting compulsively turning the pages. Excellent trilogy, with a wonderful conclusion.
Exciting conclusion to this series filled with suspense and so many other emotions! Sheila and the grand attempt to infiltrate the Academy to get the children back, and in doing so risk their lives and find out so much more about this academy! Meanwhile, Sheila must make a decision about Kall that could change the rest of her life.
I liked this series, it's a fun idea having a total reveal of everything the main character thought to be true being the total opposite, set around a mix of magical characters.
It's really emotional in places and I liked that there was some balanced not over the top romance.
A good easy read book that was a nice break inbetween reading some epic fantasies.
This book was definitely the conclusion we needed for this awesome series. The confidence that sheela gains overtime is incredible and the bond she has with her sister and her mate are so heartwarming. Sheela is a badass. I loved seeing how many allies she had that were ready to help her. All in all, a great book as always by the amazing Ingrid Seymour !
FINALLY!!!! I’m so so happy!!!! I’m not sure if everyone got their happy ending- hint hint please give us that side note for Novuk and Bethel- but a lot of others got a happy ending. It wasn’t without tears and blood and stress but it was beautiful!! I’m so happy how this trilogy turned out!! Fantastic job!!!
There's got to be either a spinoff in the works or a novella for it to end with so many questions left unanswered. The only closure offered surrounded around the academy and Kall and Jaz/Sheela's budding relationship. What about the other families and the aftermath of the academy falling? Other than that, it was ok.
Absolutely Epic!! I love this fantastic series it's such a good read.. I love this whole series of books to be honest, I definitely recommend it as a must read.. so full of magic and supernaturals and heroes, heroines that will have you hooked from the beginning to the end!! ❤️
You will not be able to put down. We learn more about Lux city and the lengths the enemies will go to to win. Now everyone is mad and wants justice for all the wrongs. You will love Lux and her men in this book.
Absolutely beautiful end. There could have been not a better ending for the Academy. I just wish Kall and Sheela got a little more screentime in the end of the book. And Bethel needs her HEA. Hopefully in her own series?
Great series followed each book perfectly. Loved it, maybe spin offs are in the future. Wild packs are not wild, they just want to walk to their own drummer.
That was a very action packed last book of the series. It had so much to it and the story flowed so nicely. I love the way Sheela and Kall's relationship grows naturally.
A fantastic conclusion of series. This was such a great series I was completely invested in the characters journies. I didnt want to see it end but the author did not disappoint. A must read series
Wow, what an awesome story. Sheela is one strong woman. Intriguing ending to a fantastic series. Will they be able to take down the Triad and stay safe. This was binge reading for me.
This trilogy was amazing! From the first, Howl of the Refected, to the 2nd Blood of the Fallen, to this Cry of the Damned, I could not put it down. Very rare when I purchase each book of a series immediately one after the other. Highly recommend this series!!
