The Holiday Adventure Club #2

St. Patrick's Day on St. Bart's

Rate this book
Valentine’s Day in Venice was a success, but will St. Patrick’s Day on St. Bart’s be even more of an adventure? Lucy Landish hopes so! She’s got a troop of travelers joining her for the second Holiday Adventure Club trip, and they’re trying to get over heartbreak, find new love, and have the vacation of a lifetime.

With Nick Epperson, one of her handsome, available, next-door work neighbors along for the ride, Lucy is ready to show her guests a great time in the French West Indies. But things are complicated between her and Nick; there’s clearly chemistry, but they’ve both got history that they’re keeping to themselves.

Joining Lucy on St. Bart’s is a saucy woman of a certain age who desperately wants to find love again (but maybe not for all the right reasons), and a young firefighter nursing a broken heart. Before the trip is over, one of them will rediscover what true love means, one will be disappointed when it comes to matters of the heart, and someone will—unexpectedly—wake up married!

But when it’s all said and done, will everyone return from St. Bart’s with their hearts in one piece?

Lucy has an Adventure Travel business where she takes groups of travelers to different destinations in the world for holiday-themed adventures. The first installment saw them going to Venice for Valentine's Day and now they went to St. Bart's for St. Patrick's Day.

Lucy takes a group to St Barts where some find love, some find scandal, some find heartache, and they all attend a yacht regatta. It‘s very tropical in theme and made me want to travel to a beautiful vacation destination. I loved the mix of characters that joined Lucy for this trip! The trip wasn't without drama, which I loved.

These are easy, breezy reads. No stress at all.

The only way I would have enjoyed this fun, breezy rom-com story more was if I was in St Barts with a tasty umbrella drink!

I really enjoyed this book. The premise of each book following a tour set in a different location on a different holiday still works well. I was really pleased that Nick did join Lucy on the trip because I really liked him and preferred him to the more "mysterious" Dev in the potential love triangle that the series set up, possibly because he was the more completely written of the two men. I liked the story lines around Finn and Elise and the way they played out was really interesting. I was a little confused about the whole "oh, you must be photographed in my wedding dress" storyline--it just wasn't believable and that annoyed me (no designer is going to allow a complete stranger to model the centerpiece of her year's collection in an impromptu runway show on a yacht and then allow her to continue to wear it for the entire night, drinking to the point that she passes out and wakes up the next morning still wearing that gown).

While I like the idea of a tour group that's very loosely organized so that people can do things on their own or join an organized activity, I wasn't exactly comfortable with Lucy as the owner and tour guide. She seems really unavailable to her clients, spending an unusual amount of time wandering off on her own (with Nick) and not spending any significant amount of time confirming details of excursions, following up with clients to make sure they're doing ok and have no issues. Having organized events myself, I find her approach to her business unbelievable--she's there to be on vacation as much as her clients are. I also find she's pretty irresponsible with her drinking (again, she needs to be available to handle any issues or emergencies that might come up and drinking as much as she does on a daily basis doesn't allow her to do that).

Nevertheless, these concerns aside, I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading more!

The second one in the Holiday Adventures Club. This time we jetted off to the luxurious St Barts with all its glamour, extremely wealthy people and their massive yachts etc.

Another really enjoyable book. You can easily feel like you’ve escaped to the place while reading these books.

Can’t wait for book 3 - there’s 11 in the series so it could get costly 😊

messy

I liked this story of relationships and how they can be messy. I mean it hit a little to close to home for Lucy and I believe she needed it. These people go on vacation to leave their worries behind but then find more problems. Lucy ends up getting therapy along with everyone Lee.

For those of you of a certain age, imagine if The Love Boat was real, except it was a travel club instead of a cruise. This story has a tropical, wealthy background, and a zany cast of characters that reflect many pop culture icons of the ‘80s and ‘90s. Stephanie Taylor always increases my desire to travel with her writing too. Come along for a fun time!

Interesting characters and a romance between baby boomers make this a fun read with a great setting that will hopefully lead to more.

A great, fun read. My favorite kind of sit on the beach (or in the backyard) books. Loving the new characters and their adventures...looking forward to the next one!
