Revisit some of the best adventures of Captain Picard in this extra-long collection! Featuring stories from across multiple Star Trek comic publishers, this issue is perfect for any fan wanting to learn more about the celebrated Starfleet officer.
Yikes, the editors of this need some time in the agony booth!
The choices here are beyond baffling to say the least. Every single issue in this “best of” fails to tell a complete story! They literally just slapped together three first issues from recent series and one first (terrible) issue from the very first ongoing TNG series.
No way, no how, could any reader conclude these comics to be the “best of Picard.” What a joke!
Since I couldn’t give zero stars, let’s say that lonely one star is for this: reminding people that the criminally underrated Doctor Pulaski exists! (Dr. who, the editors may wonder… and why is readership down, they wonder…)
I didn't read the fine print on this book before buying it. I figured it would be a smartly curated collection of key comic book stories featuring Picard. Instead it felt more like a brochure for other longer stories and thus you don't necessarily get Picard at his best but instead the beginning of several stories. The stories they took from are quite good if you read the full thing. But just reading the first issues together don't really make a lot of sense.
This was part of a Humble Bundle, so I didn't pay full price for it. If I did, I would've been upset, because I've already read all the stories collected here. Not only that, but they are first issues for the DC TNG series and multiple IDW series, with varying quality. Definitely does not live up to the title "Best of Captain Picard," but people probably wouldn't have jumped to buy "Samplers of Series Featuring Captain Picard."
Good color artwork. Four comics introducing four series. All dealing with the next generation crew. I think the mirror universe is the best? Picard with muscle! L
