If you are a reader who thrives for conflict and action, then this is not the book for you. BUT...if you are the type to pine over a tender sweet love story that makes your teeth ache and your heart clench, then this is the book for you!
'When you know' is an encapsulating and organic contemporary love story between two very different individuals. From completely different warps of life, Josie and Brody come together and overcome adversities and social stigmatism's, to create a relationship full of affection and all things beautiful.
The character development and relationship building is completely organic and realistic. This is not one of your average princess stories where everything is bliss. This is a real life, contemporary read that draws you in.
Admittedly, I did struggle with the first few chapters or so, as it was rather over-descriptive. However, those concerns were completely abolished by the third or fourth chapter where I got swept up in a well written, tender and natural love story that had me keening for more.
Overall, it was a fantastic read that flowed well and had me encapsulated from start to finish, leaving me feeling warm and bubbly inside. There were not many 'oh no!' moments. However, it was lovely to read something that was so organic and relatable. Something that isn't full of negativity, slander or affairs. Something that was simply normal, beautiful and completely heart warming.

When You Know is a second-chance romance that brings together two unlikely people. Melissa Smith has given depth to her characters in a steamy romance that shows love between friends, family, and lovers.

Brody has everything, Josie is working on proving herself. The two come together in what can only be called love at first sight.
This book was so sweet with Josie and Brody's love story. It's a slow paced, swee romance that warms your heart and makes you believe in love at first sight. Josie is strongly independent and remains that way the entire time, which I loved.
The book didn't have much conflict or drama to make the story interesting. The love story is great and we get a satisfying ending, but there was no spark to keep my attention. If the author added a small amount of drama, it would have made this book 5 stars easily.

When a nervous, naive young girl runs into her high-school crush years later, she's more than leery at his interest in her. But Brody is growing up and out of his party way, and the good girl Josie is just the type to make him change his ways.
When You Know is a sweet story of two people coming into adulthood and finding love. It reads like your sitting with your best friends listening to their life's story. It's feels comfortable and relaxed. An easy read to enjoy, especially in this pandemic-filled, chaos-inflicted world.
The only thing I didn't care for was the two person point of view, but that's just my personal preference.
Overall, a sweet, heart-warming read.

Sweet Story
This is such a sweet love story! Josie and Brody are so adorable together. This book is more about them getting to know each other and getting over their initial reservations. And dealing with Brody's friends. The next book has more from the lawyer side of Brody's life. This story is such a dream come true. A second chance romance with plenty of steamy scenes and lots of sweet relaxing scenes as well.

Such a sweet read with some spice thrown in for good measure! I enjoyed reading this contemporary romance! Brody and Josie were such wonderful characters and I enjoyed seeing their relationship develop. Definitely recommend this one!!

What you see, is not necessarily what you get. In this book, the author encourages to reader to dig deep and not just look at the superficial. A lot of people are affected by their past. Until you really get to know someone, you only see what they let you see. But a person is more than what’s outside and it takes time, patience and understanding to find the real person.

This is an amazing read that had me hooked from the moment that I started to read it. It moves along at a relaxing pace making for an easy and enjoyable read. The characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them. The story will grab you and keep you reading till the end and then you are needing more. This book needs to be read, no doubt about it.

A great debut novel by Melissa. The characters draw you, some to love and some to despise. It's a beautiful love story with a twist.

This story is full of humor, tears, and love. I truly enjoyed getting to know Josie and Brody through When You Know and I can't wait to continue their story in When You Fight.

This is a really sweet story. Josie had a major crush on Brody in high school, but he didn't even know she existed. Years later, he sets his sight on her, not realizing that she liked him all along. It's a bumpy beginning, but as they get to know each other, things fall into place. Brody stops being a player and treats Josie like a queen. Josie stops trying to prove her independence and allows someone in to care for her. Simple story with lots of heart. 💚

I loved this book. The romance between Josie and Brody is so sweet. She had a crush on him in High School but he never noticed her. Years later they meet again and he is fascinated by her but she's not sure she's ready for a felt with him. I adored this couple and the story of how the come together. I love how strong and independent Josie is. I also love Brody and how he needs to change his party ways to be with her.
I highly recommend this book. It' s perfect when you need a a heartwarming romance.

This is a great book. The idea of don't judge a book by its cover really comes to fruition here. The characters are great and are very much about love at fist sight.... second sight :)

Brody and Josie aren’t strangers, but Brody never noticed Josie in high school. Their paths cross later in life and Brody is smitten. Josie always had a crush on Brody so it wasn’t a stretch for her to fall for him. He treats like the queen she is and they fall madly in love!

Love Unexpected
Melissa Smith’s first book in her ‘Laws of Love’ series is simply an amazing love story. This story is full of emotion, romance and steamy sex. Brody and Josie, the main characters, have that ‘boy sees girl and is fascinated by her’ start to their relationship. Even though they went to school together, Brody doesn’t remember Josie. Josie on the other hand definitely remembers Brody because she had a crush on him. This story tells of two people changing for the better and growing stronger together. Love is never smooth sailing and this story tells of their trials and triumphs. Loved it from start to finish and it was hard to put down. Highly recommended and definitely a MUST read!

I loved this story, I struggled to put it down as I was totally engrossed! Great characters you can identify with and a fab storyline that really draws you in, I can’t wait to read the next book!

I'm going to rate this 5 stars, and it will be worth that after a few more edits. This story was so sweet and heartwarming to write. If you're looking for a read that's simple, not overly suspenseful or active, just a sweet love story to pull your heartstrings, this is the book for you.
