Each night, from the moment the moon rises, I watch. Stalking the edge of the woods, I gaze longingly as she wanders the lonely halls and rooms of the golden castle, the same dark curse that has trapped her there confining me to life inside this monstrous body.
The forces arrayed against us, keeping us apart, are strong, but my will is stronger. The mere sight of her is the balm to the rage inside my twisted body, even knowing I can never touch her.
But I know I must find a way.
Will the magic we create together be enough? Will it break the dark curse and allow us the life I so desperately want to give her?
Or will the forces of evil prevail, tearing us apart again, this time forever?
Since I was a little girl, I’ve made up stories. I would lay in my bed at night and before I knew what a trope was, I would make up these trope filled stories. Boy sees girl, boys falls for girl, boy saves girl….happily ever after. As I got older, the stories turned steamier and more intricate, but the basics never changed.
Now, my books are still full of romance but the naughty bits are naughtier, my hero’s are obsessed alpha types and my heroines are quirky, real women who come in all shapes and sizes.
So, sit back, banish the real world and get lost in some over the top romance with a heaping helping of hot. xoxoxo
Which begs the question, is it just me or there's a resurgence of monsters/orc romance lately? If so, yes. Give me the diversity. Hell, I even saw a flamingo shifter book a few days ago. Keep that coming.
Anyway, this novella is super quick to get by. It's about a pair of star crossed lovers, who was cursed by their best friend. One cannot survive in the dark and another perish in the light. So, they were physically separated and only got to see glimpses of each other before the sun comes down.
It was actually a nice book. Spicy as hell. Another effect of the curse is that the hero is fully transformed to an orc, rather than having a small resemblance to it originally. Hence, the size comparison really took a huge role (pun intended) here.
So yeah, you wanna a quick orc romance read? This might be it.
Loved this one! It was scorching hot, but also had sweet and felt like a fairytale almost—a very smutty fairytale. I also liked the Orc aspect of the hero, even tho his Orc nature taking over his human side is due to a curse.
Double virgins. No others, no cheating or abuse. HEA with epilogue
My first Orc book. Hmm, I get the size kink but I am not sure about the rough, unbecoming Dom personality. But the h, Calliope seems to like Rian's bed manners.
A rather okay written book with an interesting fairytale premise. They are cursed by envious enemies: she always has to stay within the castle in light lest she freezes to death while he transforms into the orc-like from his ancestors blood and has to remain in darkness outside the castle lest he burns to death. Luckily they find a loophole place and consummate their lust, thereby . The story had a certain magical ambience that was well done, but there were some passages that needed editing as their meaning eluded me. The spice was hot enough, and I learned one or two interesting features of Orcs 😅.
P.S. That cover is just sumptuous, I love it!

Gilded Cage is Dani Wyatt's take on high fantasy and erotic romance and it was incredibly steamy, angsty, and romantic. Calliope and Rian met and fell in love with each other but outside forces wanted to keep them apart. As a result, a curse was placed on them—forcing them to forever be separate and apart. I really enjoyed this aspect of the book because it adds further tension and drama to their relationship as they pine for each other. Like most of Dani Wyatt's books, the sex and chemistry between Calliope and Rian simply burned up the pages. I don't typically read interspecies relationships but I thought this was done incredibly well because I didn't mind the fact that Rian was part orc most of the time because of the curse. It made for some incredibly sexy scenes, especially when they were finally reunited.
“You are greedy for me, dirty songbird. It only makes me love you more, the way you want me as I want you.”
In the end, I simply adored this book because it was short, sweet, and dirty. Rian absolutely loves Calliope and if you're into stories where the hero is completely obsessed with his heroine, I highly recommend this book and the author's other stories because you will not be disappointed. I loved how there was also a "Beauty and the Beast" vibe to this story because Rian is cursed and forced to assume the appearance of an orc. In addition, the threat of war between Calliope and Rian's kingdoms was always present. The curse simply exacerbated it. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this book to those who love the love at first sight and 'enemies' to lovers tropes with a hero and heroine who were simply fated to be with each other.

Wow I loved this story so so much 😍😍😍 Rian and Calliope are both royals that fell head over heels in love and we're fated mates too. But jealousy, betrayal, political interests and hunger for more power, broke them apart. Now a year later they are finally able to bypass the curse and get together. But the enemies are lurking and scheming in the shadows. An awesome PNR with sweet characters an interesting world building with a HEA and a hot alpha male/orc 🥵🥵 Instalove, steamy, romantic and totally safe( freaking fated mates☺️- their one and only... Heck yes🥰🥰) with a great HEA😍😍😍
Calliope and Rian were phenomenal together. This story was so interesting and fun to read. Both under a curse but fated to get together. Plenty of fantasy, plenty of heat and such a good HEA. Loved this one!

💛Prince Calliope-
👹King Rian-
💚PLOT-
#️⃣So, a long long looong time ago. Orcs used to be a thing in this world.
#️⃣There were two kingdom. The north Kingdom. the South Kingdom. The ancestors of the people and King of south were used to be Orcs, but now they were humans. The Orcs also sometimes mated with the humans. Anyways, both the Kingdoms had some sort of tension going on between them.
#️⃣The king of North , hs father, decided to call a truce between both kingdoms.
#️⃣After the truce had been established on the border of both the kingdoms, On the way to his home, the king of south came under the spell of a witch , which led to his death.
#️⃣After that the King's sister and nephew(the H) were summoned and the nephew was crowned the new King Of south.
#️⃣And few short days later, the hs father died of an ailment as weell, and his advisor, Zacharias, was crowned the new King Of North.
#️⃣And a marriage was arranged between the new king of South (the H) and Calliope, which were the same age btw.
#️⃣When they both met for the first time, it was love at first sight.
#️⃣Unbeknownst to the h , the hs best friend, Odette(a witch) decided to cast a spell on both the H and the h.
#️⃣The spell led to such a miserable change that it turned the H into an orc, just like his ancestors. The H was to permanently remain in the dark, if by any chance he was to go out into the sunlight, he would die.
#️⃣And the h? The h remained human, but she wasn't supposed to go in the dark, she wasn't supposed to feel a little bit of cold. She could not go out into the night. She could not sit in a darkened room. Could not touch the soil barefoot. If she were to do any of those things, she wud die.
#️⃣The h and the H became opposite. They couldn't see each other, couldn't be near each other, the H looked ugly like an Orc. If they were to touch each other, they wud die.
#️⃣The marriage was cancelled, and the the people of North built the h a golden castle which was never dark from the inside, there were candles burning in every part of that castle the h went to.
#️⃣The H started living in a dark dark forest , where not even a flicker of light reached.
#️⃣They were both heart-broken over this.
#️⃣the people of both kingdoms searched for cure everywhere, tried to break the spell, but couldn't succeed.
#️⃣A few years later, the King of strongest beings on the planet, he elves, decided to marry the h in exchange for forever protecting the people of North.
#️⃣The h reluctantly agreed to do so , for the love of her kingdom.
#️⃣What's interesting is........ one day an advisor of the H told him that they had found an underground tunnel 1000 years old that led to the hs castle.
#️⃣When one day the h was in the underground wine cellar, the wall exploded and the H and h hugged.
#️⃣They realized that the wine cellar was the only room where the spell didn't work.
#️⃣And they had sex there for the first time.
#️⃣That's all i'll say here. God, this review is long i just realized that.
#️⃣Anyway, not giving away what happens in the end.
#️⃣Did the spell break? Did she marry the elf king?
🛑🛑SAFETY ISSUES-🛑🛑
🌈Virgin h.
🌈Hero a virgin too.
🌈No sex scene with OP.
🌈OW drama? Yes.
🌈OM drama? yes , the King elf wants the h for himself. He died in the end btw.
🌈The smut- The sex scenes were cavemanish, you know because, the H was a sort of monster and the h was still a human. So , smut gets a 100 out of 50😝.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Dani Wyatt's smut NEVER disappoints.
🌈The plot gets a solid 5 star.
🌈Epilogue-Married with 2 kids. And another one on the way. HEA.
Calliope and Rian fall hopelessly in love at first sight and after a week, Rian is planning to claim her hand in marriage. But they are betrayed by a friend and both cursed by the witch. Calliope can only live in the light, and Rian can only live in the dark.
How will they ever overcome this curse to be together?
Gilded Cage had elements of Romeo and Juliet (love at first sight at a party, once warring families), as well as Swan Lake (cursed by night, and Odette anyone?), but all with a paranormal/fantasy twist. Plus a lot of sex and sexual references.
The plot was fairly thin as it was mostly an erotica novella, but it was an enjoyable, quick read.
I went into this one blind as usual, but I was not expecting orc loving! Did not know it was going to be monster erotica. And I’m not mad about it.
“I lose my view of the one thing in this darkness of my life that gives my heart the courage to beat on, believing someday I will touch her again and feel the light on my skin. Many of my kind have lost the instinct to find a primal, fated mate, but mine devoured me in an instant.”
Gilded Cage is novella length and lacked the time required to become invested in developing and connecting with the characters. The storyline was actually quite good, but felt rushed. If you like reading about orcs and elves, kingdoms at war, characters cursed by witches and fated mates with a healthy appetite for each other this may be for you. Unfortunately I was left disappointed.
This was a great book. While it was short, Ms. Dani was able to pack a whole lot into and didn't leave you hanging. The connection and chemistry between Calliope and Rian was amazing and add in the insane heat/steam and unwavering love, drama, twists and turns and this was a great book. I just wish that this book was longer but I did not want it to end. I can't wait to see what Ms. Dani has in store for us next. I would recommend this book and Ms. Dani as a fantastic author.

I thought this was such a cute read! A fairytale likeness with Orcs!? I’m all for it! Rian was so sweet and romantic and I loved how he pines and just loves Calliope. They’re so sweet together. This books was a bit different than Dani’s other stuff but all her usual possessive, obsessive and OTT hero characteristics are still the heart of this story. Well done! ♥️
The book blurb lays out the plot of this star-crossed lovers, very steamy, fairy tale romance. The writing is excellent and my heart broke for Calliope and Rian, but their love for each other was so deep and so true that even a curse could not keep them apart. It's a super hot read and a great love story. 4.5 stars.

Dani Wyatt always brings the heat and Gilded Cage is no exception. Rian and Calliope are lovers who have been separated by a curse. Gilded Cage brings the heat, drama, sexual tension, and fantasy. I loved Rian and Calliope together. Nicely done!
This was not for me. Like I do enjoy spicy books but I need a build up to it and depth to a relationship for it not to be boring/meaningless. Those chili pepper scenes were meaningless to me. I just was confused more than entertained with this book.
This intense read about curses and fate. Only one will win out in the end. Two souls one heart. A Love that transcends time and space. Night and day come go and come again, but never without love.
I really enjoyed Calliope and Rian's story! Rian was so possessive and protective and I loved his Orc genes. They were so cute and I loved the epilogue.
Intense love story between Calliope and Rian that showed that real love is very powerful and can overcome anything. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
