Needed a proofreading pass and a bit redundant at times, but it achieved what it intended to do: giving authors an inside look at a successful KS campaign formula.

Great info for beginners

I knew absolutely nothing about Kickstarter, but between this book and their podcast, I learned a lot. I have several weeks before launch and I’m nervous but excited to see how the hard work is going to pay off. I’m grateful for these authors for giving me such a specific guide to the platform.

Really solid book. Will have to come back to this after I've run my first Kickstarter, but this was incredibly helpful as I make plans for doing so over this next year.

One of the authors I do assistant work for is planning a Kickstarter campaign and so I decided to pick up this book as I knew hardly anything about kickstarter in general and almost nothing about how it works for books specifically. This book really helped me get a better idea of what kickstarter is, how it works and how authors can utilize it for selling their books.

This book helped me get familiar with a lot of terms around kickstarter and get a grip on all the ins and outs of the platform. There is a lot of tips and information about how to plan a campaign, how early to start and in what order to do everything. There is information about reward tiers, writing your sales copy, how to market your kickstarter and what to do after your kickstarter. As well as how to budget your campaign and how to fulfill orders afterwards. There are lots of tips from the authors that they learned running their own campaigns and it clear the authors have a lot of experience with kickstarter. It touches upon a lot of topics surrounding kickstarter and I learned a lot about this book.

Some of the most helpful chapters were the early ones for me that addressed why an author might want to do a kickstarter and to get into the mindset of why this works for authors and how this platform differs from selling your book on other places. I made a lot of notes and found this book contained a lot of helpful information. I enjoyed learning more about kickstarter and I finished this book feeling like I knew a lot more than when I started.

There were a few chapters later on that I felt didn't add as much value to me and some of the way the authors approached their newsletter didn't fit with my preferred way of handling this. There also was a chapter where they copied their messages to the backers, which I didn't find as useful as the authors just discussed in their own words already how the campaign had gone. This is mostly my personal preference and the rest of the book was very informative.

To summarize: I hardly knew anything about kickstarter and how to use the platform for selling books when I picked this book up. I thought this book was a very informative read and gives a lot of information and details about kickstarter and how to use it to sell books. All aspects of the process of running a campaign are addressed and I finished this book feeling a lot more knowledgeable about the topic and having a much better understanding of how kickstarter works for books specifically. There were a few chapters toward the end that I personally found less useful, but those chapters might be more helpful for others. I can definitely recommend this book to authors looking for know more about kickstarter and figure out whether this is something they want to give a try.

A great book about how authors can use Kickstarters to sell their books, and how they can offer exclusive rewards to their fans and readers through Kickstarter. It's a great way to bring a conference to your fans without having to travel. Lots of great ideas and tips for how to use Kickstarter for books.

Fantastic book. I took copious note, but I'll still need to go back through and review sections as I set up my first Kickstarter. It has so much details and insights into how to make a successful campaign.

An easy to follow HOW-TO book on a path these authors clearly already wandered down, fell off, picked themselves up, ran to the finish line and won the medal. Transparent and convincing to this reader.

As advertised, this book is a thorough step-by-step process for setting up and running a successful Kickstarter campaign for books. They left nothing out. They are also very encouraging throughout, and I finished this book confident and excited to build my own Kickstarter campaign.

I knew zilch about this topic, so every part of the book was helpful to me. Pretty complex but seems worth doing to reach a new audience.

This was a very interesting book, but it wasn't nearly as helpful as I'd hoped it would be.

Great resource!

I enjoyed this book and it's helpful for learning to do Kickstarter. I do wish they'd given more examples. Like when they were talking about nightmares and fantasies, I would have loved to have seen an example of this in a campaign. And that was true for MANY of the sections--they felt a bit abstract and I REALLY wanted to see how they worked in a real campaign (yes, they linked to campaigns and resources, but I just wanted to see it on the page). There was also this weird middle chapter with all their messages they'd included at a certain point in the campaign. It was like an example (but of just one thing) on crack. I would have loved little examples for many concepts instead of a massive example for one. But overall toms of great advice from start to finish for Kickstarter.

Okay, I was dubious. I've bought so many books meant to help with marketing and jumpstarting a book that I wasn't really sure if I wanted to spend the money.

BUT IT WORKED!

I followed the steps, and while my first campaign wasn't a big money-maker, it was funded successfully enough that I'm trying again with a different book.
