Going Going Gone

A rockstar at rock-bottom,
a notorious party girl,
and a Chevy C10.
What happens when two stars collide?

I'm Harlow Saint James, and I was moving way too fast.

At nineteen, I was nothing more than a trashy socialite and notorious party girl who wasn't ready for her party to end.

Until one night, I interrupted the lead guitarist of House of Sparrows on his smoke break. It'd all started with a double shot of tequila in West Hollywood and ended somewhere off Ocean Avenue on the longest night of my life. Though, it didn't take the entire night to discover Linc Hendrix was more messed up than I was.

The two of us together could be a match made in toxic hell or a chance to slow down with the one.

Either way, years from now, they'll print my story in some gossip column with the tagline: "What Happened to Harlow James?"

The answer is simple. It always is.

A rockstar happened.

And this is the night it all began ...

"I'm thinking of a very bad idea"
"Ideas can't be bad until after the fact"

Read this because of that damn quote from Hala's review. She knows it works wonder and I fell for it too.

Novellas are a hard commercial sell and it's not like it's easy to write them. Sometimes, I love to read novellas. But then... they're novellas — they're short. It does not hit the highs and lows that a full-flavoured novel can give you. So, imagine my surprise when I find myself whizzing while reading this!

Although this book potentially comprised with insta-lust, which admittely is not my favourite, this prequel sounds promising for the book that is to come. I'm looking forward to indulge myself with Harlow and Linc! (cries in 2023).

Also, there's something trivial of this book that I like and want to point out — which is the dedication. I don't know about you but honestly, going through author's dedication is probably one of my favourite things to do while reading books. So when I saw Fiorina dedicated this to herself, I'd say GO KWEEN. Take that credit for the masterpiece you write!

this is a prequel to a full length novel that's going to be coming out in 2023

🎸 hero is a rockstar
🎸 heroine is a child actress & socialite
🎸 probably a third of this novella is smut
🎸 heroine has a lot of fucking issues, like drugs
🎸 heroine may also have a stalker (?) which, I'm lowkey a sucker for

the hero calls asleep while giving the heroine oral so she kinda just-

She stole my truck.
She cleaned my apartment, blasted I Just Had Sex, and stole my fucking truck.

5 stars!
She was a savage who’d just given me a taste of a thrill, then ripped it away.

I don’t even know what to say besides I NEED more! I don’t know how I am supposed to wait. Nicole’s writing is always magic and it’s no surprise that she killed it with this novella!

Novella’s can be difficult for me to read, but the way Nicole wrote the beginnings of Harlow and Linc was perfect. It’s basically an insta-lust romance but you can feel that there is already so much more between them after only a very short amount of time together. I love the dynamic between the rockstar and the party girl. It’s like their opposites but not at the same time, and they totally get one another. I was craving the angst this short little story was bringing.

Not only was this short story hot, but it was also hilarious. I know I already said it, but Nicole literally never ceases to amaze me. The words she writes are always so beautiful, her scenes are always delicate but filled with passion, her writing is the epitome of pure talent. This book ended perfectly without their being a cliffhanger, yet it makes you ache for more!

For ~ What If by Nicole Fiorina and Going Going Gone

"And if you lost your heart somewhere along the way, all you have to do is retrace your steps.”

Linc and Harlow. Ty and Kate.
I've so much to say but I'm also still speechless and honestly that says more than my words could. Yes, I love it ineffably, no, I can't quite put it into words.
But can we take a moment to appreciate how music was SUCH a central element. That bold unrestrained passion was thrumming just under the surface and god it trembled over from the pages.

...but at this hour, we were lawless lovers chasing the night.

LA and NYC's unapologetic, exquisite beauty was written so good I got wanderlust.
Nicole's writing's incredible. Alluring and just innately captivating.
Kate and Ty's story had me captivated right from the start. One night, 12 hours to get ahold of the elusive beat and a lost love for a bustling city. Kate and Ty have got New York to explore, to discover the elusive beat and embrace grief, even though it hurts. That ending holy wow.

“Love is a crazy woman, Ty. A crazy woman that has claws to scratch you whenever she wants..."

Linc and Lo, god they're magnetic.
They're layered, intriguingly complex and the chemistry's fire. The spontaneity and fun really shines through yet there's something almost...sad about it. Like the loveliest of dreams but it may or may not be out of reach. The uncertainty is the sad bit. Let's just say the anticipation is right about tangible for the full length books.

His beliefs were bold and strong and out in the open. One day, I thought, I wanted someone to believe in me like that.

no words, just a forever nicole fiorina stan✋🏼✋🏼

This short story was SO PROMISING! Just a small glimpse of another of Nicole Fiorina's books coming up next year, but it was enough to leave me thirsty for more! Nicole just has this way with words and her writing, captivating you with her characters and story from the very first page. I loved what she gave us from Harlow and Linc, and I can already tell I'm going to love this romance (please give us more soon!!) The ending was so cue and satisfying, and I can't wait to see how their story will follow! Once again, obsessed with everything Nicole does and writes. A M A Z I N G

I need the full story like... yesterday?? Literally counting the days left for her to bless us with Harlow and Linc!

OMFG!!! Going Going Gone, a prequel to City of Angels that's coming in 2023, was everything I could have asked for when it comes to a novella that has less than 100 pages. This book just made me realize that it doesn't matter how long or short Nicole's stories are, her writing is freaking magic. It gets to me every time and in ways I can't even explain.

"...if our world was considered a galaxy, we were lightyears apart."

I'm usually not the biggest fan of novellas because it's really hard to get attached to characters when everything goes by so quickly. But oh boy, I'm more than freaking attached when it comes to Linc and Lo. She really brought those two to life even though we only saw a glimpse of their broken souls, how crazy is that?!

"I liked that despite how out of touch he was, I was still able to touch him."

The rock star and the party girl. Such a powerful connection. Their one night together was so intense, sensual and fleeting. So much happened but at the same time not enough because when it comes to them I just want more and more and more. I'm glad this was just the beginning because I'm now addicted.

"And you will always be something that was going, going, gone."

I can’t get enough of Harlow and Lincoln! I just need more!! I can’t wait for them to get another book!
This is a short spicy novella that follows party girl/former actress Harlow as she spends the night rockstar Lincoln
I’m obsessed with these two together their chemistry just radiates off the pages and the banter between them is hilarious! (Condom scene… IYKYK 😂 one of the funniest scenes I’ve read!)
I say it all the time and I’ll never stop how Nicole writes just leaves me in awe every single time, her writing is honestly like poetry it just flows so beautifully the way she brings a character, characters feelings and even moments to life is nothing short of incredible! You feel everything she writes and she does it perfectly with this book!

What do you do when one of your favorite authors suddenly publishes a surprising prequel to her new book?
Yes, you leave everything you've to do, you don't even think about what you have to do anymore, you just read the book in one sitting 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is a short story and a prequel to City of Angels, a full-length standalone set in California and coming in 2023.
I don't know how I can wait so long after this story 😣

"Harlow" Lo's and Linc's story started with a epic one-of-a-kind one-nighter.
A rock star meets a famous party girl and the overload of emotions that follow are overwhelming.

If that was just the beginning of their story, then I can't imagine how their whole book will be like.
They are both broken souls that hide behind their false public appearance.
But OMG! they are so amazing together.
I love it and can't wait to read their book 🥰❤🥰

A rockstar, a party girl, and one night. Harlow and Linc were so wonderfully damaged and complex. You a feel the connection between them, they are drawn to each other. Their chemistry is off the charts.

I loved Harlow. She was a child actor who was made to be the villain in the industry. She became a party girl and enjoys the high. Linc is in a band, living in the shadow of his brother. He is talented in his own right.

This story is addictive. The characters are captivating. I love them and I am dying for more of them.

If you’re looking for a rockstar romance check this one out.

I LOVED this little snippet story we got of Linc and Lo!! their story hooked me in immediately. I’m also in love with the setting taking place in LA bc I’m from here so I can really feel like I’m right there with the characters. we get really good character set up for both Linc and Lo, the exciting beginning collision of their relationship and hints of more.

even tho we only got a short peek into Linc and Lo’s story, I know I’m already obsessed and NEED more. I seriously can’t wait for the full length novel to come!!

“And you will always be something that was going, going, gone.”

This prequel was everything I needed to pull me out of a book slump and to get me absolutely HYPED for City of Angels coming in 2023! As always, Nicole delivered on the poetic writing and yes, the SPICE. Who doesn’t love a dreamy rockstar and a lost party girl?! This book was less than 100 pages but somehow had me completely locked into the story and left me wanting more. Linc and Lo have a fiery connection that I cannot wait to see unfold more in their full length story.

Favorite quotes:
“A musician, a party girl, and a weak ass blunt,” Linc laughed, “I don’t know, it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.”

“I liked that despite how out of touch he was, I was still able to touch him.”

This novella is a prequel to a book (City of Angels) that will be released in 2023.

Told through dual pov, we get the story of Harlow James and Lincoln Hendrix.
Harlow found stardom early as a child, has commitment issues, a drug addiction, and is mixed Creole.
Lincoln is part of a well known 5 member rock band, is tatted with a pierced lip, and has a chevy c10.

Going Going Gone is set in Los Angeles and spans a duration of less than 1 day.
It's a quick read, short and to the point, and sets up the next book really well.

- rock star with no social media
- title appears in the book
- hints to there being a potential stalker
- spice
- coconut oil
- safe sex

TW: heavy use of drugs and alcohol

QUOTES:

"We both bleed red, but we stain the world in different shades."

"If I constantly felt like I had to prove something to everyone, I'd lose a sense of identity."

"This abrupt connection between us was a hundred proof, stronger than the alcohol I'd consumed."

"Looks like both rides failed me in less than six hours."

"I'm kidding, Lo. I know your name. I've always known your fucking name."

"I liked that despite how out of touch he was, I was still able to touch him. I also liked that he made me feel like I was the only person in his orbit when I was with him without it being suffocating."

"And you will always be something that was going, going, gone."

“𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙮 𝙪𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙡 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙚.
𝘼𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙄 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙡𝙤𝙨𝙩.”

I LOVED this so much! Short stories and novellas usually aren’t my favorites because I can’t get attached to the characters as much as I like… but DAMN. I should’ve know since it’s Nicole (I mean DUH, everything she writes is magic) but AHHHHH. I love Linc and Lo so much already!

“𝘼𝙣𝙙 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙗𝙚 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙜𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙜𝙤𝙣𝙚.”

This was hot and spicy, had that rock n roll all-consuming feel, and I seriously can’t wait for their full story!
Within less than 100 pages, you get a small glimpse into who both of them are, and how broken they are.
And if you know me, you know I love a broken and broody love interest 😉

Some writers have the uncanny ability to pen the most beautiful, romantic stories, that are equal parts messy, and so damn addicting, it’s impossible to stop reading them! I already know Nicole is going to serve with this story and I also know I’m going to love it if this prequel’s any indication and I also think I’ll cry but that’s the best part about anything Nicole writes. It’s a masterpiece but one that’ll make you cry.

“Good morning, killer.”

Well Linc & Lo were so much fun! Hot, crazy, Hollywood nights. A quick read for anyone who needs a boost of adrenaline mixed in with some sex, drugs, and rock n roll.

“You said it yourself,” I sighed, “It was always a disaster waiting to happen.” Linc grinned and cocked his head. “And you will always be something that was going, going, gone.”

Okay I’ll be honest: short stories throw me off because I often struggle to get attached to the characters in such a short amount of pages— even if said characters are literally on fire, like Lo and Linc.

I’m still definitely intrigued and I really like Nicole and her writing so we’ll see what the coming book as a whole has in store!!

“She was a savage who’d given me a taste of a thrill, then ripped it all away.”

This short story came at the perfect time to rid me of my reading slump.
From the very first page I was pulled into this LA music scene, sweating and dancing while I watched the sexy rock band while they lose themselves to the crowd.

A perfect appetizer to what’s to come for Linc & Lo’s journey, and I have a feeling it will be messy.

What I loved:
🤍 city music scene
🤍 hate-chemistry but the kind that comes from hating yourself
🤍a one night stand with the bad boy guitarist
🤍moody and deep writing that had me highlighting constantly
🤍a couple I will be shipping so hard

It’s cold out, so dive into these pages where you can put the roll down the windows in a truck down Hollywood blvd and lose yourself.

Rating:
Story- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Characters- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steam- the slogan “drugs, sex and rock and roll” fits perfectly
