This is a story for those who's been knocked down and got back up again. The debut memoir from Elena Delhagen, Until the Bones Shine chronicles one woman's tale of love, loss, hope, and home. Delhagen recounts the fear and isolation of her childhood and the healing journey that takes her halfway around the world. In the deaths of loved ones, in the tatters of a broken marriage, and in the loneliness of a faraway land, this book reminds readers of the importance of looking for the light when life seems darkest.
I read this moving book in one sitting, but I didn’t want it to end! Until The Bones Shine is a deeply personal journey from the wilderness, through the fire and to the water. As you read Elena’s words, you begin to identify your own story’s wilderness, fire and water experiences. Pure, courageous vulnerability–like Elena is sharing her story with only you. We all can find hope in her message, that despite the wilderness and fire, eventually we all will wander back home.
I read this in one sitting, Elena‘s heartfelt truth that she pours out so beautifully in this book is just gripping. I felt less alone as I read this hearing common struggles that we have shared in the faith. If I could give 10 stars, I would.
This story is how Elena never lost her faith even with all the trauma of her home life growing up, a marriage that failed and the difficulties of adopting her daughter. Her faith carried her threw the goid and the bad. Such an amazing woman and story.
