Addie James's attempts to help out in Aunt Kate's tea shop are about to backfire bigtime, and Addie's new magic won’t be enough to get her out of a murder charge.
Somewhat settled in the idyllic mountain town of Stargaze, former scientist Addie James still isn’t sure what she’s going to do with her life—or her newly discovered magical talent for reading tea leaves. In the meantime, she’s helping out at her Aunt Kate’s shop, Wild Rose Teas and Apothecary.
But after buying an herbal remedy Addie made, the mayor's wife turns up dead. Addie is the prime suspect!
Now she must beat the clock and use her newfound magic to find the true killer before she'll be forced to sit trial for murder. But there’s one big problem: things like tea leaf readings don’t exactly provide the type of evidence the authorities are interested in. It’s going to take more than magic to keep Addie from a life sentence.
If you love fun mysteries with a dash of magic, spine tingles, and small-town romance, The Tea Shop Witch Series by Thora Bluestone is for you! Brew a cup of your favorite tea and come along to the mountain town of Stargaze . . .
This is book two in the tea shop witch series and they are so much fun 🤩 as I’ve said before the writing is not anything incredible but I always have such a good time with these books and sometimes that’s all that matters. Filled with magical woo such as tea readings, aura readings and astral travel, zombies and murder mystery. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters more and seeing their friendships blossom. Perfect as a pallet cleanser between more heavy reads or if you’re looking for a very easy going fun cozy magical mystery then this is perfect. 3.5 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Not a bad book The writing was competent. The characters are mostly interesting. That being said, the author really needs to talk to some police investigators about how they actually operate. In a case like the one in this book there are some obvious things that the cops didn't do, like immediately search the store and apartment for fentanyl. The store was clearly not licensed to sell opiates, and there is the immediate question of how Addie could have obtained the drug. Also, given that they found the tincture bottle, even if it was broken, tests should have shown that there was none of the drug in it. The medical examiner should also have been able to find some of the fentanyl tablets undigested in the victim's stomach, given how quickly she died of the effects. Not to mention the fact that they would have searched both the victim's purse, and the husband's bag, at the crime scene. Still, I see promise in these stories, and I hope the author only gets better in her future books.
Addie is just getting comfortable in her new life. Working at her aunt's tea shop, living upstairs in her aunt's cozy apartment, mixing up tinctures for her customers... When she mixes up a refill for the mayor's wife, who later dies at dinner, she second guesses herself if she made a mistake. The police think she did. Or maybe she murdered the mayor's wife deliberately over a bad health review of her aunt's store. Soon, Addie is arrested for murder, and it will take her aunt and friends everything they have to clear her name, and find the real killer! With a little help from tea leaves and aura reading, they hope to find the killer before the killer finds them. Read this second cozy mystery in this fun series to find out who done it. I highly recommend this series!
While helping out her aunt at the tea shop, Addie James is asked to make an elixir for the mayor's wife. When the woman dies, spectacularly, in public after consuming the concoction, Addie is held responsible and arrested. Addie knows she didn't commit murder, so who did? Time to read the tea leaves!
Though paranormal mysteries aren't my usual read, I've somehow managed to read two in a row - and both were set in Oregon!
While still a cosy, Peppermint and Potions is slightly more gritty than average and gives the envelope a bit of a nudge. There's a lot to like in its pages: friendship, romance, the supernatural. This is the first book of the series I've read, but I suspect there will be more hijinks to come, leading to a thrilling good time.
This is the second book in this series, and I loved it as much as the first one. Poor Addie is really in trouble when she’s arrested for the mayor’s wife’s murder. I absolutely adore Addie, Kate, Chelsea, Bennett, and Trey. They are such fun characters, and this was a fun book. I love how Addie is really starting to accept magic, and I really hope we get to see her explore her abilities in the next book which I’m eagerly anticipating. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I wish I had read the first book in this series. In my opinion this is a good stand alone story. I gladly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a great heartfelt cozy mystery. Filled with twists and turns that can keep you guessing until the final reveal. I do wonder how Lucky was able to bring Bennett back to save Chelsea and Addie. I look forward to Addies future adventures, and hope that a "cure" for Kate's unfortunate condition can be found.
Good book. Would have given it a five rating, but that zombie stuff has got to go. It is absolutely disgusting. These books are well written with great storylines and plots. The characters are charming and great. What destroys these books for me is that zombie crap. They have nothing to do with witches or craftsmanship. The author needs to find a way to either kill off the aunt or have her go through some great transformation that brings her back to life. Eating brains is absolutely sick stuff. Because of this, I can't recommend the book. Too bad.
This is a cozy mystery and a relaxing book to read. I really looked forward to continuing to read it, despite a simple plot. Normally, I am not into fantasy stories of witches and zombies but this is comforting - really. A good ending is expected. I wish to enjoy more of Ms.Blustone's writing.
I like to recommend this to my class, but the mention of lgbt is a barrier. Period.
I should preface this by saying that I haven't read book one in this series.
This was a cute little cozy mystery about a woman coming into her own magic being accused of murder. It wasn't demanding, it was quite fun and easy to read. However, I probably wouldn't bother seeking out other books in the series as it didn't quite grab me.
A wonderfully creative mystery with lots of twists and turns including the wrong victims killed. The combination of traditional detective methods and alternative less conventional methods with a sceptic with "gifts" thrown in
An OK read, slow build with interesting characters and an intriguing storyline, unfortunately to me it was a little to slow and some of the scenes seemed forced written to fit the situation rather than progressing the story. Give it a read see what you think, Baz.
I enjoyed reading this book. It is light-hearted and interesting. The cast of characters is entertaining. This novel has everything - romance, mystery, and paranormal. The paranormal aspect is unusual in my reading experience.
I did not read the first one in this series. Fortunately, the references to it made it easy to understand this story. The characters were interesting and the situations very different from the usual witch cozy mystery. I will read more in this series.
A little slow to start, and descriptions were a small amount over the the top, but finally got down to a terrific end of story very tense. Was waiting for Lucky to turn into a shifter ha! ha! But he and Bennet did save the day.
Angst, tears and cell time just cannot hold down the fun cozy times to be had in this book. Near death, no problem, it all comes to a good ending with optimism and go and a little bit of magic here and there. A clean, light read.
This series is just an absolute delight. Addy & Chelsea (not to mention lucky) and near perfect characters. The tea shop is the best atmosphere. The mysteries are the perfect mix of cozy and tense. Most cozy mysteries are so slow and boring for me but this one has my heart.
I enjoyed this book. The storyline moves right along. The characters are wonderfully fun. Life can be difficult for everyone but it all turns out great
Not sure what it was but Addie, the lead character, just irritated me. Maybe it was that she was 'a former scientist' but didn't attempt to use any of her knowledge in the story
This was the second book of this paranormal series. This one was better than the first one. It has good characters, and an unusual paranormal subject matter in deeper depth.
Again we find our Stargaze family in a sticky situation. I'm obsessed with this cozy who dun'it series. Mystery, Murder and Magic- what more could we ask for?!
