This Fine Crew #3

Seed in the Sky

Rate this book
The Interstellar Initiative didn’t have an easy start. Tensions between species complicated even the simplest tasks, not to mention the perils created by an unstable extra-dimensional entity named Wallace.

Then, just as the alliance figures out how to work together effectively, Humanity’s first interstellar sins come back to haunt them. What first appears to be an extra star in Earth’s night sky is—something else—and it’s ready to rain destruction on the planet if the Initiative doesn’t figure out how to communicate or counter it.

The best hope of saving humanity may once again rest in the hands of four cadets and the starship Endeavor.

Awesome sci fi adventure

The worldbuilding and characters are as fantastic in Seed as they have been in the other books. The alien points of view are believable and well-written. I admit I cried at more than one scene; the found family is heartwarming. This Fine Crew illustrates the best of science fiction without a high body count and massive destruction. I read the series in KU but will buy it to reread.

SEED IN THE SKY is complex and thought provoking.  I loved books 1 and 2 of the THIS FINE CREW series, adore all the characters and thoroughly enjoyed the first and last parts of book 3.  I didn’t like the whole time travel schtick and felt like it bogged down the book.  Lidstrom’s time travel sections felt like placeholders, and there seemed to be very little action or plot development.  Nevertheless, the ending tied up all the loose strings beautifully and the last chapters rock!
