This book by senior IAS officer of Kerala - M Sivasankar is an autobiography where in he describes the hurdles he had faced in connection with the controversial gold smuggling case that rocked the state.
This is a part biography by M Sivasankar who was the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Kerala Mr. Pinnarayi Vijayan. In this book he talks about the no. of cases the investigation agencies- Enforcement Directorate, Customs and the NIA- charged Sivasankaran, the type of charges and accusations they made, the interrogation day happenings and his arrest. The main highlight of this book is about the speculations, accusations and interrogations carried out by the different media/news channels in Kerala (to include the new media too) and the time/term he spent inside the Borstal School and the Kakkanad Prison. Although the prime accusation against Sivasankar was in the gold smuggling case along with the prime accused Swapna Suresh, other corruption issues in cases like the E-mobility, life mission etc. were also included. The book does not dwell into any aspect of any of the cases in detail or his relations with Swapna Suresh (except for the fact that she was a good friend & cheated, she presented him an iPhone, his name was mentioned as a reference in her CV and that he suggested a Chartered Accountant for her childs financial security plans) Or the previous (and current) government or the Chief Minister. His possibility to read around 168+ books during the 90+ days tenure he spent in prison and custody and the pain due to his severe back issues is also mentioned. A bit of a drag but in 176 pages its a quick read
