As you read, you'll find bits and pieces of fiction and fact, of her heart and her mind, and maybe even bits and pieces of yourself. Growing Pains deals primarily with all the different kinds of pain that come with growing up, from heartbreak to losing family members, as well as the personal struggle Tegan has faced with chronic pain. Her writing is complemented in this book with beautiful and original illustrations by Sonia Dearling.

The case-bound hardback includes a bonus poem and an experimental short story, as well as illustrated endpapers and a foiling detail on the front cover.
