A night in a shared hotel changes everything…

Nothing is as unexpected as the way I can’t stop watching Crew Fox in his grey sweatpants. This is all kinds of complicated, and probably wrong considering how long I’ve known him, but I can’t deny the way he captures my attention when he walks into a room. So I do what every person who has no self control and a simultaneous need to burn down their life would… I give into the desire.

A kiss in the rain–a secret tearing us both apart–still I can’t stay away. Crew makes me feel things I’ve never felt before. Something has to give. I either need to forget these blooming feelings or kiss my relationship with my son goodbye. There’s no way he’d understand how I feel about his best friend when I’ve no idea what’s happening. All I know is that suddenly I’ve become more than just sweatpant-sexual. I’m suddenly Crew-sexual.

Sweatpant Sexual is a Best Friends Dad, Age Gap romance. If you like supportive friends and family, a Bi-sexual bear, age gap angst and lots of slow burny feels, this is the book for you!
TW for past neglectful borderline abusive homelife, homophobic absentee mother of a secondary character.

Crew is the first book in the Murphy Contracting series by Jamie Luther. This book is about Crew and Rogan. Rogan is not only Crew's boss but also his best friends dad.

I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.

Thoroughly enjoyed! I read an advanced copy of this book and am leaving my review voluntarily.

Loved this story of best friend father to lovers! Rogan and Crew’s relationship evolved naturally and it was sweet, funny, and hot. Highly recommend pre-ordering or reading it on KU when it releases.

Found this author on IG and when I saw Age Gap plus Best Friend’s Father/Son’s Best Friend, I wanted to read it immediately.

This one has spoilers because I don’t know how to write it without them. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This is super slow burn with a lot of world building and character development that I enjoyed. It didn’t feel like it dragged down the pacing and I liked getting to know Rogan (43) and Crew (27). They also spent a lot of time together so it wasn’t merely a physical attraction between them.

There is a lot of push/pull as they both fight their attraction: Crew initially thinking Rogan could never be interested, then Rogan worried about Ace’s reaction.

There’s a LOT of drinking. The three friends getting completely drunk on weekends is a regular occurrence and felt problematic. Though it’s a topic I’m pretty sensitive to so YMMV.

The biggest problem I had was Rogan’s son, Ace. I understood and somewhat sympathized with his nature/pain/immaturity - but it was too “much” for me. Especially his response to Rogan & Crew’s relationship. Not the initial shock/hurt - but taking over a year to even speak to his father & best friend diminished the epilogue for me.

I know it probably doesn’t sound like it, but I did enjoy 90% of this book. I plan to read more of Luther’s writing. Maybe even Ace’s book to see if he’s redeemed.

This was a new author for me with this book to read. A okay start to the book as Crew has been lusting over Ace’s dad for ages, now he gets to work for him. Crew was applying for a job Murphy Contracting, Rogan is the Dad of his best friend.
Fast forward 7 years.
Crew, 27 years, is moving into a shared house with Ace, right next door to Rogan. This part of the book was rough to understand but the further I read it got a lot better understanding what was happening in the storyline.
Rogan, 43, was single and ran his own Construction company.
The book is a best friend’s father, and a boss and employee theme which makes their romance a little forbidden. I loved the scenes that followed with the work trip which starts everything for the couple. Emotions are high in this as there’s baggage on both character sides.
Crew had a bad childhood and is estranged from his father but they might get a second chance.
I loved the feelings between them as they fight what they obviously both want, but too afraid to make the move. Yeah there’s a doggy pinching sexy toys and leaving them around, much to the disgust of Ace.
We all know keeping secrets always comes out at some stage and this one was a huge bang.
An HEA ending for these guys and I’m guessing who the next couple will be in the series by the sounds coming from a bedroom😉🔥

There's something about grey sweatpants

This is such a fun new read! I adored Crew as soon as we met him. And his boss (and best friend's father) Rogan is too good to be true.

Going along for the journey as Crew and Rogan navigate their growing attraction to each other while avoiding Crew's best friend (and Rogan's son) Ace is a wild ride. Add in Crew's overeager Husky pup, a bevy of found family, and strained parental relationships and you have the basics for a great book.

This is a wonderful example of one of my favorite tropes! Crew and Rogan are drawn together and the fact that Rogan is his boss AND his best friend’s dad makes no difference- it’s got longing, love and a beautifully built relationship (oh, and lots of heat!) Love this book so much!

What do you do when you fall in lust with your best friend’s dad? Well, you let it fester until it grows into love and explodes in your face. That’s what Crew does, anyway. Crew spent so log pining for Rogan. He just needed the tiniest crack in Rogan’s armor to get through. That happens during a work trip. Then we spend a whole lot of time watching Rogan angst out over how it can’t happen. *sigh* I hate that he had such valid points about it.

Rogan puts his son first and foremost. It’s never a question. But he can’t seem to justify taking a chance on his own happiness even though Ace is an adult. There were several times I wanted to shake Rogan and make his see what was right in front of him. Crew was just waiting for him. One of my absolute favorite aspects of Crew was his ability to call Rogan on his crap. I loved that he didn’t pull any punches with Rogan’s waffling.

Rogan and Crew were a delight together. Both floundering slightly with these big feelings they didn’t know what to do with. Once they actually work some things out, Rogan just doted on Crew and I loved it.

Ace, Rogan’s son, came off as highly unlikable in the end of this book. Even his apology wasn’t very believable to me. He only appeared sorry because he was doing something shady himself and didn’t want to get caught. (Won’t leave spoilers, but, really?) I am hoping that Ace has one heck of a redemption arc in his book because he’s going to need it.

This really was a wonderful book overall and I adored Rogan and Crew’s love. I’m very interested to see where this series goes.

*I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Story: 3.5 Stars

Crew (27) has a big ol' crush on his best friend's dad that's only deepened in the seven years he's worked for the older man. Rogan (43), meanwhile, is seeing the much younger man he's known nearly a decade with fresh eyes but deems his employee and son's best friend off-limits despite his growing desire.

There's an enjoyable build-up of heated gazes, quiet pining, and genuine feelings between the two men until they can't deny their attraction any longer. I also appreciated how supportive Rogan is of his son Ace in general.

[Some spoilers ahead...] While Rogan's fears about pursing a relationship are understandable, after a while his hot/cold mixed signals and ongoing avoidance of talking things out started leaving a sour taste given how vulnerable Crew repeatedly made himself.

The big reconciliation with Ace also felt too neat and rushed to be completely satisfying. I'm anticipating an Ace/Hux/Wade book in this series, which I'm guessing will be a redemption story for Ace since he needs one at this point.

Despite the relationship angst, though, this didn't feel like an overly angsty read. There's a fair amount of lighthearted humor mixed in, several strong secondary characters, and one playful, excessively hairy, butt plug stealing dog that had me chuckling. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)

I really liked Crew and Rogan, both as individual characters and as a couple. Poor Crew, after having a massive crush on his best friend's dad, he then starts to develop serious feelings towards him, it doesn't help that the attraction he feels isn't one-sided.

I liked that Rogan considered his son Ace's feelings about how a relationship with Crew might make him feel, but at the same time, Ace is an adult now and surely Rogan can start to put his own happiness first.

The sexual tension between Crew and Rogan created a strong pull between them, as well as being Ace's dad, Rogan is also his boss, (way to complicate things). As much as they fight it, you know there is going to come a time where they give in to the pull and then things really heat up. It's a sexually frustrated journey for these two to get together, but the waiting and pining was worth it.

Ace has his own issues with his and Crew's other best friend Hux and because of this his mood is up and down, (doesn't he know open communication is the only way to go). I am guessing that we will get to see Ace work out his own frustrations in book #2 and I'm looking forward to seeing where Jamie Luther takes us if the end of this book is an example of how things are going to go down.

Rogan and Crew made a really sweet couple and I look forward to seeing how they are going down the track in future books (they'd have to remain side characters surely).

I was really torn on the rating to give this book. It had parts that I really loved and other parts that left me disappointed.

SPOILERS BELOW

There is a part really close to the beginning where Crew is having a dream where he is watching Rogan have sex through their m windows. It is not made clear in the beginning that it is a dream and it made me so uncomfortable. It just came off as so creepy. I was hoping it was a dream but if it wasn’t a dream then I wouldn’t have kept reading the story. (I don’t hate Voyeurism and think it can work in a story, but only when it’s need established that everyone is okay with it)

The actual relationship between Crew and Rogan was so sweet and I really enjoyed everything about it. The story kind of ends at a weird spot, and it almost felt like the book was unfinished.

I liked Wade & Hux a lot. Both were great friends, but ACE was AWFUL. I understand he’s getting therapy now but that doesn’t erase all the completely horrible things he said. The next book seems like it will be a Wade/Hux/Ace book but I dislike Ace so much I will not be reading their book.

Crew by Jamie Luther is a slow-burn, age-gap romance that turns forbidden tension into emotional revelation. It’s not just about attraction it’s about rediscovery, self-acceptance, and the terrifying beauty of wanting something you know you shouldn’t.

Luther writes with an honesty that burns quietly but deeply. The chemistry between Crew and the narrator is electric yet tender, built on years of unspoken connection and the weight of everything unsaid. What begins as a moment of impulsive passion a kiss in the rain, a night that changes everything unravels into a story about desire colliding with responsibility, and the cost of giving in to truth.

What makes Crew stand out is its refusal to reduce love to fantasy. It shows the real ache of boundaries crossed, the guilt and yearning that coexist when love arrives at the wrong time or perhaps exactly when it’s needed. With its bi representation, heartfelt secondary characters, and raw emotional stakes, Crew is a stunning exploration of vulnerability and second chances that fans of Daddy Crush or Fault Lines will devour.

It’s not just a romance. It’s a reckoning one that lingers long after the last page.

I received an advance reader copy and I am leaving my honest review.

Jamie has the basis of a good fun series Murphy conntracting in hand. I had to grin, ooh and aah throughout this read, which has a age-gap, which I enjoy reading, and best friend his father theme

Most of the characters in the book work at the inclusive construction company. Crew, Ace and Huxley work on the same roofing team and share a house
In this book Crew gets the hots and later on feelings for Ace his father, Rogan, who also happens to be his boss.

After some to and fro and spending time just talking they grow closer and after one steamy night they decide to tell Ace about their situation. However he finds out sooner and does not react well and doesn't want Crew in their house anymore.
However all that does is let Crew and Rogan build their relationship.
They find their hfn, together with a sex toys loving husky Lupin, I know huskies are clever, but this one has a single minded interest in fetching them and left me wondering how many can one person have 😉

With an opening in mending the relationship with Ace. Who seems to have his own secrets about his partner or partners? I am looking forward to more books in the series.

Love best friend's dad stories and this one did not disappoint. Crew has been in lust with Rogan for a while but Rogan is not only his best friend's dad but also his boss. Rogan on the other hand, has just began to see Crew in a different way.
This story is a slow burn due to all the obstacles the MCs have to face. Their internal and external struggles are not resolved quickly or easily but given the importance they deserve. However it's not dragged out either. The author does a great job of finding a balance. Rogan and Crew are sweet together, and very hot when they get together!! They take the time to really get to know each other and fall in love. Now I gotta say I did not like Ace (Rogan's son). He came across as a selfish no good friend or son. I really hope he redeems himself cause he's on my hate list as of now. So I really need the next book to know if it's a redemption story (another fave of mine)

I loved this story. Crew and Rogan’s story of seeing each other in a new way was sweet and hot at the same time. Crew has had a crush on his best friend’s Dad for years, but all of a sudden, Rogan is realizing that Crew is a man in his own right and seeing him with brand new eyes. Can their love overcome obstacles such as Rogans Son/Crew’s best friend, the obvious age split not to mention that Rogan is Crew’s boss? Bet on Love! I don’t know if I would classify it as angst, but I honestly liked how the author didn’t take the easy way out with the conflicts in this relationship. She wrote the characters honestly as the emotional push pull of wanting/loving someone doesn’t always have an easy road. So many wonderful things in this story even when it broke your heart at the same time. Can’t wait for more from the men in this found family to find their HEA…so many possibilities!

This is the first book in this series and I loved it. Rogan is Crew's best friend's father and boss. His attraction to Crew literally comes out of nowhere. Meanwhile Crew has had feelings for Rogan forever. It's clear to see their attraction from the get-go, but they fight it to keep the peace with Rogan's son and because they work together. The more time passes, the harder it becomes to fight their feelings, until everything comes out. I enjoyed the pacing of this book. I loved Crew and Rogan and thought that they were great for each other. Th only thing that threw me off was the ending of the book. It jumped a couple of months, but it was kind of convoluted for me. Other than that, this was a good start to a new series and I can't wait to see what happens next.

The story hooked me! Loved Crew and Rogan, so much fun reading them!! I love a good age gap, boss/employee, son’s best friend story! The author did a fantastic job with the story they had to tell us! The characters were complex and complicated, sweet and steamy and much pining! Overall, a fantastic read! The story was really well written, the pacing flowed so well that the story wouldn’t let me go, highly recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My review is solely based on my thoughts and opinions.

I love the best friend's father trope and here, it includes the expected age gap and the added complication of boss employee. As if these weren't enough things for Crew and Rogan to have on their plate there is the worry they have about the reaction of Rogan's son. Lots of emotional ups and downs for these two, a nice amount of angst and well developed supporting characters make this a great start to this new series.

This was a nice story even if most of the book had the characters angsting over each other. I hate to say that the friend between the three didn't feel all that solid from the very beginning and the idea of hurting Rogan's son seemed to be the biggest issue. I just wish we would have gotten to see more of these two together. I look forward to the next book and already have an idea of who the characters may be.

Good read

This is really a good book. Even when you know the fallout is coming, I couldn’t stop reading. These guys are not perfect but their flaws make them even more likable. Crew and Rogan earn their HEA, even if Ace can be a little s$@!. But the great thing is people can learn from their mistakes and move on. Watching our two MCs figure out what is really worth fighting for was worth a read.

So much pining! Crew and Rogan were really sweet together. I loved how everything developed naturally. Their relationship was a little complicated especially when certain people got involved but hopefully that continues to be on the mend into the series. A sweet and steamy best friends father story.

Sex toy stealing loveable dog!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are complex and real. They are not perfect. Except for Lupin the sex toy stealing husky. He is perfect.

Crew can't figure out why his best friends dad who he has known for years is suddenly so dam sexy. He wants him. But he knows he can't have him. Or can he?

Ohhhh you will WORK for these two in the best way possible. Complicated is too simple of a word, but I love the HEA and hope to see more from this series. I love Crew and Rogan together and separately and to see them come together is quite… explosive.
