Ava It’s the last stop on my latest book tour: the sleepy town of Sycamore Mountain. Every stop has been the same, with fans asking me when the next book is coming out and if my lead character will ever find love. But how do you write about love when you’ve never experienced it? Then I meet Holden, the burly mountain man who’s providing security. When we get stuck in his cabin, Holden keeps me safe, calming my fears about a deranged fan. Holden doesn’t talk much, but he loves dirty books, and when he reads them out loud to me, I melt right off the page.
Holden I’ve been obsessed with Ava Greyson ever since I discovered her books with the strong, wild heroines. When she comes to the Sycamore Mountain Annual Book Festival, I’m first in line to volunteer. When an obsessed fan goes too far, I get the chance to be her hero. I take Ava up the mountain to keep her safe. But once I’ve got her in my cabin, I’ll do whatever it takes to keep her there. She must never find out what I’ve done to protect her…
The MAN OF THE MONTH CLUB is a steamy small-town collection featuring a new hottie (or two!) every month. In 2022, escape to Sycamore Mountain, North Carolina and celebrate ALL the holidays with your favorite group of romance authors and their delicious mountain men. Can’t wait to see you there!
His Big Book Stack is a shy girl and mountain man, forced proximity steamy romance. Featuring an over protective and obsessed alpha male and an innocent curvy girl.
Ava is an author who doesn't know how to write about love. She gets death threats from a stalker so her publicist hires a security guard- Holden, the town recluse. At a book festival she faints but Holden catches her. He's had a crush on her for over a year after reading one of her books.
Holden takes her to his property to show her some of his woodwork. They find out they're trapped on the mountain he lives on because of the heat, so she's forced to stay with him... but are they really trapped there?
Due to some lies Holden told, they separate for six months. Love is a strong thing though. They eventually get back together!
I can relate to Ava. She's a nerdy woman who is very awkward around men. Holden is an alpha male who is obsessed with Ava. He also enjoys reading erotica! ;) I thoroughly enjoyed reading this and I will definitely read more from this author! Five shining stars!
"I have my man, my writing, and my family. It’s more than this shy author could have ever dreamed of."
virgin heroine instalove forced proximity no cheating no OM/OW drama separation for 6 months HEA and epilogue 5 years later!.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This wasn’t terrible. I would’ve loved it far more if their first sex scene wasnt ruined with with an ugly gross layer of latex between them. Another reviewer bright this up, but it bears repeating, what the fuck is a mountain man recluse doing with a box of condoms at the ready?
I liked the story, I liked the characters, I really loved that the heroine was an older virgin, too. I loved that she waited for the right one and didn’t just give any random dude a ride in her body that showed an interest.
I also adored the hero. I loved how he did what he needed to do to get a chance with her and when she was in danger and he has the opportunity to protect her, he didn’t hesitate.
Besides the first sex scene, subsequent ones didn’t have nasty condom use so it wasn’t a total loss. Still, the first scene is always the most important, it’s the crescendo to the buildup and then it just fizzled and fell flat, like throwing water on a fire.
I also didn’t like that there was no mention if both were faithful and celibate in the 6 month separation. I feel like that should’ve been answered. I want to believe that they were.
Safety unknown. Hero is supposedly a mountain loner and celibate, but inexplicably has a box of condoms lying around to place as a barrier between himself from the heroine and keep them separated. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to the hero. Uncertain if faithful during separation. No others, no abuse. HEA with epilogue and kids years layer.
Why would a recluse who hides out in his mountain cabin have condoms on hand in his bedroom? He didn't know the heroine would be at his place, so it's not as if he bought a brand new box in the hopes he could use them with her. So, that inconsistency needs to be addressed. It also makes me question, despite him supposedly falling in love with her a year ago when he saw her picture on the back of her book, whether he's been celibate since. The stash condoms leading credence to my disbelief.
Holden is a recluse that lives in a mountain cabin on Sycamore Mountain. He saw one day a book with Ava's picture on it and fell head over heels for her. A year later he finally gets the chance to meet her. Instlaove, sweet, steamy, romantic and safe with action and a bit of drama(no OP drama😉) with a sweet HEA 😍😍😍😍
The fmc made this difficult to enjoy and pretty much killed the story. She was a bratty common Karen with a chip on her shoulder. The story attempts to make it seem like her shit attitude is because she's an introvert, but it's really just a flimsy excuse for why she's such a witch. The lording over Holden and sense of entitlement she held was hilarious. I mean the fmc just expected him to chauffeur her ass (he was a volunteer and not getting paid), then he houses her and feeds her and gives her reign over his home so she can write – only for this hoe to use him to slake her lust. The kicker though was her why she was interested to begin with, since she has 0 sexual experience/ romantic experience shes struggling to write last book and uses him to write scenes in the story. That's when I was done with the story. There's definitely more bs and pandering that goes on in the story, but you'll have to read it to experience that first hand.
Wonderful!! This was a nice quick, short read. I really enjoyed this book!
Holden and Ava met when he volunteers to help with her book signing. Ava is an author and is in Sycamore Mountain as her last stop. When Ava catches Holden out of the corner of her eye while she's talking on stage she thinks he's her stalker. Ava faints and he catches her, he then carries her to a chair so that he can sit with her. When she wakes up she wants to know who he is, he tells her he's her security guard which she didn't know about. Ava still has Q&A's to get through but Holden tells her they should go back to her hotel room. Ava wants to see Sycamore Mountain and visit the chocolate factory but a lot of places have closed because of the heat. After Ava signs the last book, Holden takes her and shows her around town. Ava asks him where it's cooler and he tells her up in the mountain, so she tells him to take her there. Holden lets her know he has a cabin on Sycamore Mountain and he does work working there, so she tells him she wants to see what he does. After they get to his home and he shows her around, he tells her that the road is closed. Ava is stranded with Holden. He tells her he has a spare bedroom for, they have supper and head to bed. The next day when Ava wakes Holden makes them breakfast. Ava tries to write but nothing is coming to her. When she gets tired of trying to write she looks out his windows and notices the stream on one side of his property. She goes to explore and discovers Holden in the stream, then she realizes he's naked. He tells her to join him but she doesn't have her swim suit. He tells her thats alright, she finally decides to join him but makes him turn around. Ava joins him and the water is cool and cools her down. Holden swims towards her, and soon realizes he wants more with her. They start kissing and soon he pleasures her. Ava jumps out and hurries inside to begin writing again. Holden goes inside and is quiet around her always making her coffee. Soon it's night out and Ava doesn't realize Holden is sitting across from her reading, the words just flew off the pages. Ava is embarrassed to tell him she's never experienced love before. Holden makes the something to eat, then he tells her he can help her with her writing. Holden shows her is book case and all the books he has including hers. Holden starts reading to her hoping it'll help her write what she needs to next. While Ava sits and listens to Holden read to her she gets turned on so much she leans up and pulls him free, she begins to pleasure him. After he comes he carries her off to his bed and pleasures her. They make love and fall asleep together. The next morning Holden makes breakfast, then Ava continues with her writing, he head outside to work on his wood working. Holden puts a call into a friend to find out who is stalking Ava, when his friend calls him back he asks him if they want him to send someone to scare the guy. Holden tells them to send someone but not to hard him. Ava find out from her publisher that they found her stalker he turned himself in, the guy was beaten up and had a few fingers missing. When Ava comes to find Holden in his workshop she tells him about her stalker, he wants to claim her. Holden takes Ava and he's a little rough with her but finds out she likes it. The next day a guy comes up the road and Ava wonders how he got there she assumed the road was still closes, so she asks him. The guy tells her he's been making deliveries all week. After the guy leaves Ava asks Holden if he lied to her he tells her he did. Holden tells her he knew she belonged to him from the first time he seen her on the back of her first book. Ava wants to know if there is anything else he's lied about to her. So Holden tells her he's the one that sent someone after her stalker. Ava tells Holden she wants to leave, so he takes her back down the mountain and back to the inn. Six months later, Holden goes to buy her next book in town. When he opens it he finds out she dedication the book to him. Ava comes walking in as he's reading the dedication, she asks him if he's going to buy a copy. Holden ask her if that dedication is for him, she tells him it is. Ava tells him she spend the last six months thinking about him and what he did. She came to realize he loves her and wanted to protect her. Holden ask her if she's staying and she tells him she is, with him. Ava tells him he can't lie to her anymore, she doesn't want secrets between them. Holden promises her they'll be no more secrets. Five years later, Ava's been writing a different kind of book the last few years. She's putting the finishing touches on her latest, it's a sex scene. They've been married for five years and have two kids. When Ava is done writing her final scene she goes to find Holden in his workshop. When Ava has a certain look in her eyes Holden knows she's finished with her book. Ava has a family, her writing, it's more than she could ever asks for.

Despite the fact I hate Sycamore trees, they’re so invasive and destructive, someone saw fit to start a series in this fictional place of Sycamore Mountain. Whatever, this particular story in this multi-author series is quite cute albeit short. It takes place over a scant week, with a six month gap and five year epilogue. I have to wonder if this author wasn’t mocking the place name with her chestnut-haired heroine from Maple Springs writing about Daffodil Valley whilst living on Sycamore Mountain. I mean, come on. If all that wasn’t tongue in cheek, I’d never admit it.
The hero, Holden, is a woodworker who makes a bunch of stuff from off cuts and travels down to town weekly for groceries and books. He’s an avid reader who evidently is just fine without female company of any sort. But this former MC member, and caveman at least has A/C. And he’s been waiting for Ava ever since falling for her author photo. Conveniently, Sycamore Mountain is known for a huge annual book festival.
Ava is a best selling (TEN BOOK SERIES) crime author who is a virgin at age 29. It’s kind of mean to present her as somehow less than enough because of her sexual life choices. Not everyone has sex at 16, do they? Ava is described as a “frumpy” almost 30 year old. But whatever, women can be vicious - even to our fictional characters, evidently. But Ava takes her laptop everywhere, and for that she gets my respect.
They meet in a heatwave and Ava discovers sex finally. I had to laugh when she thinks: “I suddenly realize I’ve spent the week with this man, but how well do I really know him?” Too late now, sweetheart.
“…mine and Holden’s antics…” — my “It’s more than this shy author could have ever dreamed of.” - omg
I took a star off for ending the book with a preposition. That’s just lazy.
Other than a few eye rolls, this was a cute and short read, well written, with some hot sex.
Ava is in town for a book review and signing. Everyone is on high alert as she has had a stalker. While doing her review of her book, she notices a man standing in the corner of the room. Then without warning he is by her side as she's hot, exhausted. He gets her a water and promises to take care of her. Ava is told Holden will be her body guard while she's in town. Demanding Holden take her to the chocolate factory. He tells her its closed because of the heat wave they are having. She doesn't believe him so he drives by there so she can see the closed sign. Holden is more then thrilled to have volunteered to help when he heard his favorite Author was coming to town. Holden drives up the mountain towards his cabin. Ava notices all his books and the book case that was hand made by Holden. Holden tells her they have to stay at the cabin as the roads buckled from the heat and he's not sure when they will be fixed. Ava gets this idea, that she will ask Holden to help her with her sex scenes to make her character in her book to the next level. While staying there she proceeds to tell him about her stalker. Not liking what he hears he calls a friend who finds out who it is and where the guy lives. Holden friends go to out the fear in this guy that he will never stall again to anyone. Ava finds out he lied about the roads being closed and then she was upset when she found out he had something to do with the stalker guy. Holden also told her he was her biggest fan. Upset she left but Holden was able to get her back to him. They made a great team. She was a great author with him by her side.

This story is short and sweet with lots of heat! At face value, I loved it! It was a fast read and I just couldn't put it down! I find that there are few novellas that are successfully at character development and be more than just a couple having a quickie. This one was well rounded.
But once I got into my head a little, and started to think about the story-line, I found I had a small problem with Holden being a bit of a stalker type. He fell in love with Ava from looking at her picture on the back of a book sleeve. Then he read her books and fell further in love. When she came to town for a book convention, he made sure that he got bodyguard duty. And when she asks to see his place, he lies to her about the only road up/down the mountain being closed for repairs, just to keep her there. The only thing he didn't do was tie her up and starve her. Otherwise, it would have been a stalker/kidnapping situation. And during this time, Holden initiates a chain of events that result in Ava's stalker (one she was concerned about) coming into some bad luck.
I guess, just because he was good looking, he can't possibly be a bad guy? It's a think line.
Like I said, my first impression was positive. It wasn't until I had to start thinking about writing my review that I started to think a little deeper about the story. But, this is fiction after all! So I can accept it. I am still recommending this book even though I don't totally agree with the trope, but because I think it is well written!

I’d do it, again. Awesome book. Holden has been in love with her since he first saw Ava on the back of one of her books. When he has the chance to protect her at a book signing he volunteers immediately. He finds out why she needs security and takes steps to find the person. Ava is stuck at his cabin because the high heat has damaged the roads, or so he tells her. During their week together she starts to fall in love with Holden. Her writing is going great thanks to her experiences with him. When she finds out that the guy responsible for the threats on her life has been caught she is glad she’s safe. Although, Ava has concerns about the condition that the guy was in. When she learns that Holden lied about the roads to get her to stay with him she is angry with him. Then she hears he had a part in what happened to her stalker and she doesn’t want anything to do with him. He takes her back to town and she walks out of his life. Is this the end for a love that barely started? Stop by the bookstore and pick up the newest release.

This was fine for a romantic novella. This is an insta-love story, so don’t expect any deep or meaningful plot/relationship. It’s mostly just supposed to be a sweet and quick read. Also, just an FYI that Ava is a virgin at nearly 30, and she’s extremely naive and shy in the bedroom, so if you don’t like blushing virgins then you probably won’t like Ava.
That being said, I loved the premise of the story and the fact that Ava was a crime author rather than a romance writer (it feels so cliche).
What I didn’t care for was the resolution. I don’t mind Holden but he is pretty stalker-ish, which is ironic considering Ava is hiding from one. Given the context, Holden should have done more to redeem himself, or just not be so stalker-y in the first place.
Overall, it’s a decent read if you want a quick taste of romance. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am reviewing it voluntarily.
Ava (FMC): virgin, close to 30, introverted and shy, crime author Holden: protective, woodworker, lives in remote cabin in North Carolina, enjoys reading
Things to note: forced proximity, bodyguard, skinny dipping, stalker, mention of dismemberment,
Finding the biggest inspiration when you are not looking
His Big Book Stack: A Man of the Month Club Novella by Sadie King is part of the multi-author Sycamore Mountain series. This story is about Ava Greyson, a writer who is on a book tour for her latest book in a very successful series, and Holden, a secret fan of Ava's who has been hired as security for the book festival. I really loved this story as it is a swirl of emotion, suspense, romance, secrets, some danger and a dash of the unexpected. I also loved the characters as Holden was so much fun, especially when he owned his love of romance books. Ava is struggling to write the last book in her very successful book series but she knows she needs to. Luckily for her she is about to get the biggest inspiration of her lifetime.....and it will last forever.
I want to start off by saying that this novella has become one of my favorite reads this year. The whole concept of the MMC being a book lover and reader of romance is something that I found absolutely appealing as this a trope that is not normally seen. I would like to thank the author for writing this as Holden's love of books did not go to waste especially in the steamier portions of this novella. All I'm saying is the scene from chapter 11 where we learn more about the MMC's book taste has me in a chokehold. The FMC Ava was also a great character who even when facing such an attraction was able to stand by what she believes.

Ava is a writer who is trying to write a story is has not knowledge about - love. While on a book tour, she is also faced with a stalker who has been threatening her.
Holden lives up on the mountain and loves to read. When the need for help at the Book event, he had no problem volunteering, but when his favorite author was about to back out, he stepped up to be security.
Holden does what he can to keep Ava safe, even if it means lying to her until he can figure out who is stalking her. Together Ava finds the missing pieces of her story as things heat up with Holden.
Fast steamy read with the perfect amount of suspense and passion as Holden and Ava navigate through what is needed.

This was a fun, short read. I liked 'His Big Book Stack' because the author was able capture my imagination with describing Ava, Holden & the surrounding area in detail. Ava is a visiting author & Holden is a mountain man who volunteered to be her security due to death threats received. Their relationship develops quick & fast with lots of steamy moments but will that lead to a HEA if Ava ever discovers what Holden has done to protect her. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Ava is an author on her last book tour. Since Holden read one of her books, he has been a big fan and volunteers to provide her security at the Sycamore Mountain Annual Book Festival. He invites her to his cabin on the mountain to see some woodworking he has done. It is also an excellent location to keep her safe. But then he tells her that the excessive heat has damaged the roads and she has to stay with him. It gave them a chance to get to know each other and they are beginning to fall in love. But when she finds out he lied to her about the roads, she left him. Will she come back? Or is she truly not willing to be with someone who cannot be honest with her?
Ava is a writer. She is in town for a book festival. Recently she has gotten death threats. Holden is a mountain recluse. He does his wood work and reads books. When he learns that Ava needs a bodyguard he volunteers his services. He whisk her away to the mountains for her protection. Ava is attracted to Holden but thinks he could never be interested in someone like her. Holden is determined to make Ava his. Holden is also determined to protect Ava at all cost. He keeps secrets from her and when the truth comes out will it ruin them? Holden is a hot alpha male. Ava is a nerdy, curvy shy bookworm. Can these two find true love are are lies and secrets too much to pursue a relationship.
He'd burn the world down for her. - Holden and Ava are two peas in a pod in a lot of ways. He loves to read and she's an author. He helps her develop her writing skills, tutoring her body in the ways of love. When he finds out she has a stalker, he handles it, hands down (pun intended). When she finds out he tricked her to keep her with him on his mountain, she turns away from him. Will he be able to get her back?
A steamy shorty with two introverts finding love. We meet up with Violet (Small Town Sisters) again who is suddenly a "winker". Sean has done her a world of good. The AI narrator was a'ight.
Ava, the female lead, has been receiving death threats. Holden, the male lead, has volunteered to be her security in light of this because he’s been a long term fan and is looking forward to spending time with her…
This short story is dual POV, well written, and a cute sexy summer read. I enjoyed seeing Ava expand her horizons and try new things. I appreciated that she took physical time away from Holden to process details he had initially omitted. An engaging, cute and sexy read.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Apparently my new kick is stalker books lol. This is a good one because Holden has more of an obsession than being a stalker. Ava is a writer and when she needs a bodyguard for a books signing Holden knows it’s his chance to make her his he just has to get rid of her real stalker. A quick and easy read. A great storyline and lovable characters. I really enjoyed the book. I would definitely recommend this book.

Ava is on her last book tour and this stop is in Sycamore mountain. All her fans are looking for a happy ending for her main character, how does one write about something they have never experienced?
Holden has been obsessed about Ava since he first picked up one of her books last year. He volunteered for guard duty when he found out she would be in town. He takes her to his cabin on the mountain. But he may have told her a little white lie, she would be okay with that right?.
I received an Advance Readers Copy of this book with no obligation to write a review.
Ava is an author of steamy romance books and is on her final book tour. Holden volunteers to be her bodyguard while she's in Sycamore Mountain and things take a steamy turn. This is a sweet, quick read with likable characters, drama, romance, and a lie. You definitely need to read this one to find out if they get their happily ever after. His Big Book Stack is part of the multi-author Sycamore Mountain series and I look forward to reading the rest of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
This was Holden & Ava’s story. Ava: It’s the last stop on my latest book tour: the sleepy town of Sycamore Mountain. He likes big books and he did tell a lie...Ava (h) is on a book signing tour and has been receiving threats from a stalker. Holden (H) has been hired as her security while she's visiting Sycamore Mountain and he couldn’t be happier since he's secretly been crushing on her since he saw her picture on one of her books a few years earlier. Ava and Holden head up to his mountain home and fates, or is it Holden, conspire to get her to stay a while. Hot and steamy action in this quickie read!
Holden and Ava weren't your typical couple but I loved their chemistry! Holden fell for Ava when he saw her picture on the back of one of her books. He then became her security guard so he could protect her from her stalker. I loved how protective he was with her and their chemistry was off the charts. That twist though.. WOW! I loved this one. Great read!.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Ava is receiving death threats so in steps Holden. He takes her up to his cabin where she finds his book collection. Time spent together while the road is fixed has them falling in love but Ava leaves when she finds out how far Holden goes to protect her. The old adage of letting go the one you love to fly free and they will return holds true for Ava and Holden.
This was a great forced proximity romance. I have been reading Sadie King’s books for a while now and I usually like the sweetness of them but this time she threw in a bit of darkness and I loved it. Holden was a true obsessive alpha and maybe he went a bit too far but luckily it got him Ava. The two had great chemistry and I so enjoyed reading their story.

I loved the blurb for this one. I think Holden was adorable but Ava was a tough nut to crack. For being the type of author she was, I felt like she was rude to Holden, who seemed like a marshmallow for her. I think the story got a big dark at times and went a way Holden didn't even seem to expect. Overall, it was enjoyable with a good HEA.

A sweet romance that can be read in an afternoon. Ava is an author who comes to town for a book festival. Holden is a fan of hers who volunteers to act as her bodyguard after she gets death threats. A romance develops as they are forced to spend time together. But eventually secrets are discovered, and Ava has to decide if love is enough. Really good development of characters in this story.
