It was supposed to be a delivery run… How did it turn into a prison break?
All Mercy had to do was deliver her cargo and go. Now she’s got a bunch of irate aliens on her tail and a hot-as-Helios escaped prisoner in her cargo bay who insists she is his. She’s too old for this crap, and she keeps telling herself she’s too old for him, too. But his arguments and his… assets are very convincing.
If they’re going to survive this intergalactic crisis, she’s going to need a plan… and her hot, horned, and handsome alien passenger is going to need some clothes.
**Buckle up. This sci-fi romance contains an alien with fur, fangs, horns, and a very possessive attitude when it comes to the woman he’s claimed for his own.
Susan lives out on the Canadian west coast surrounded by open water, dear family and good friends. She’s jumped out of perfectly good airplanes on purpose and accidentally swum with sharks on the Great Barrier Reef. If the world ends, she plans to survive as the spunky, comedic sidekick to the heroes of the new world, because she’s too damned short and out of shape to make it on her own for long.
Writing is her joy, her escape from reality and the only way she knows of to quiet the nagging harridan of a muse the universe assigned to her.

If the next word out of your mouth is ‘mine,’ I will have to stab you on principle.
I really liked Mercy. Rage was very stereotypical but I enjoyed his loyalty to his brothers. This was a good introduction but as always, with every novela, I needed more. The markings once the couple got it on we’re cool. Something new for sure. Both got marks which I really liked. But again, not much information was given in the short 70+ pages.
I want to see what else happens but at the same time I kind of don’t care so I think I’m stopping here. This book was free on kindle at the time I downloaded it so that’s good. This was a good short story about aliens that are lab made and tortured. They’re suppose to be slave warriors except they don’t listen to their captors. Gasp!!
I did enjoy the story but it was nothing new. And Fury and the whole New Species series does the same thing and is 15 books strong. If you want a very sad tortured new species just wanting to live read these!!! They are so good. The problem with reading this series is that it ruined me for anything else. So this story was just bleh to me. It was still very good and if the books were on KU I’d definitely continue reading the series. But since they’re not I’ll stop here.
A fun, action packed short alien romance. I actually really liked the mfc for once! The characters all around are good, though I just wanted a bit more story. Thankfully it is a series! 4.5 ⭐
These are my honest thoughts, I love the plot of this story. Rage is an alien captive who is set to be terminated and Mercy is a human woman who transports material in space. DID YOU HEAR THAT??? SHE TRANSPORTS MATERIAL IN SPACE!! SHE ISN'T KIDNAPPED FOR SEX SLAVERY. You all have no idea how happy this makes me, the sci-fi romance genre is inundated with sex slavery plot lines that when I finally find one that isn't I get so excited.
So plot, we have an alien man who is set to be killed who makes one last attempt at breaking free and winds up getting help from Mercy. As the story progresses there is more information revealed about where Rage comes from and how him and his 'brothers' wound up in this prison being experimented on. He wants to make sure he saves his brothers and does what he can with the help of Mercy who has some connections with bigger names.
Now I won't lie I wish this was longer just so it could have expanded the plot line in depth even more, it is so intriguing. I want to know everything and I wanted the nitty and gritty details that where skimmed over, like when Mercy and Rage where making their plans to help the other Fa'rels. It is skipped over so a 2nd sex scene could be included, which frankly I didn't want, I wanted the story. I have a lot of questions about how the next few books are going to work plot wise due to how this one ended, so I will pick up the next one.
Now the romance, it was terrible. It was just another insta-lust story line where they immediately fall for each other and start banging just because they can't seem to control their unhinged horny feelings for each other. There is no exploration into building their relationship and making it feel believable. They of course exchanged the 'I love you's" after two weeks, because that totally makes me believe it even more. It was also very frustrating that both Mercy and Rage could only seem to think of the other in sexual ways, it just added fuel to the insta-lust that was going on. Separately they were intriguing, MErcy was a tough girl with an attitude who liked her solitude and Rage was a ball of anger who wanted company, I wish they had been explored more separately. The length of this really does work against the overall enjoyment which is why I'm giving it 3 stars.
A fast paced, hot and steamy read! A very interesting start to a new series. Definitely lots of questions about where they come from and how they ended up in a lab used as experiments? How are the ones that are on the planet going to meet their mates?
This book is a mind blowing adventure full of action, danger and little green men. The characters are fantastic! I love the way Mercy kind of just rolled with the experience, and Rage was gentle for all his power and anger, and I absolutely love the android and the purpose he served. The story is fast-paced and a wonderful setup for a phenomenal new series. I am really looking forward to reading about the rest of the clan and the journey to find out where they belong.
Oh, Rage! What a great little story to start off what looks to be a really good series. This one has it all. Alien on alien abduction, mature female lead who is smart and courageous, hot beast like alien with ridges, intrigue, evil aliens, experimentation, and attempted murder! Highly recommended short novel!
This was fine. Because it was so short, I definitely think it should have spent more time on the story rather than the bulk of it being about our main characters sexcapades but oh well, it was decent enough without.
The world building was actually kinda interesting but there wasn’t literally zero time for romance. All that happened was “wow female, you are mine” and then fucking??? Like uhhh do you wanna learn her last name?
I hate books where women are made weak by lust. That’s not why I gave this book only two stars.
I thought the magically appearing mate marks and insta-love were ridiculous. That is not why I gave this book only two stars.
This is a dub-con novel. I dislike the almost-rape, but that is also not why I gave it only two stars.
I gave it a poor rating because the world building was scant, the characters were two dimensional rip-offs from other stories, and yes, I understand that this is kind of a prequel novella… but the plot needed a lot of development. Not even the spicy bits were well done.
Mercy finds herself harboring a fugitive that shouldn't exist on one of her supply delivery runs. Not only is the huge alien causing her tons of trouble but he also wants her which adds a few more fun complications.
This was ok, I didn't love it. Rage and Mercy just kind of fell flat for me. Also, does one need an entire collection of vibrators? I found that very odd, it was probably supposed to be more silly, but still...in a short book strange things stand out more. I think this one just wasn't really for me.
Really short novella that doesn't waste time and gets right to the spicy parts, but the intimate scenes quickly lost their spice and became less detailed and interesting.
As this book opens Rage a fa’rel has once again tried to escape. He's thrown into isolation beaten and in pain but won't give the guards the satisfaction of seeing that. An Android named Bysshe was an ally of sorts and he was trusted by Rage and his brothers. When Bysshe shows up a bit later, he informs Rage he is scheduled for termination. It seems the verexi, the race that created the fa’rel are tired of his antics. However, Bysshe has a plan and tells Rage to be ready.
The verexi are not physically powerful, so they created the fa’rel in their labs to be their army. Unfortunately, the fa’rel aren't very obliging when it comes to blindly taking orders. Rage has three brothers also imprisoned here, he goal has always been to escape and free them. Now it seems his time has run out.
Captain Mercy Johnson has a contract to deliver cargo to this moon, she couldn't call it a planet, and considers it a visual of what hell would look like. When she lands, she's met by Bysshe and oversees the delivery. He also informs her that her contract may soon be over although he doesn't know how soon. He does make her another offer, one that would end her contract now, but the payment would make it very worth her while to take on this cargo.
When her cargo arrives, she understands why the payment was so generous. This is a prison break. She needs to get out of here and fast. Her 'cargo' is injured on his way to the ship and after a brief message telling him to hold on, Mercy takes off.
Once they are out of immediate danger, Mercy confronts the alien she willingly brought aboard her ship. That encounter doesn't go quite how she expects and is quite a page melter as she discovers the true nature of her passenger.
It's a good thing Mercy has knowledge of how things work with the Galatic Legion although humans aren't part of it. Her strategy is genius.
Rage and Mercy sizzle off the pages and hopefully the odds will be in their favor as they work to free Rage's family.
Marked for Rage is the prequel novella for the Crashed and Claimed series. Mercy is just doing her routine drop offs when she receives an unexpected offer for new cargo. She’s shocked to find that cargo is an escaped prisoner with horns and no clothes, and she feels the connection to him immediately. But with Rage’s brethren still planet-side, can they free his people and still have a shot at a future together?
This book was super fun! I love all of the worlds that Ms. Hayes creates, and this is one that looks like will have lots of adventure, passion, and of course, love! Rage and Mercy are no exception, and I loved they had this instant chemistry that just would not be denied! Mercy was determined, and that really worked to Rage’s benefit when she wanted to help him free his people. I also liked that she was brave and bold and adventurous. Rage was kind of fun because he wasn’t used to being around much of anything besides his cell and his captors, but he was just as passionate, just as determined, and I loved that he could be very focused, especially on Mercy. They had that instalove, but it doesn’t quite seem like their adventure is over yet. This book did leave quite a few questions that I can’t wait to dig into the first full length book to maybe find out some more! It was good, fun, fast paced, and I’m looking forward to what comes next!
While this was very, very short story. It was full of action and smexy times. The characters and world were done as well as the length of book afforded. Not sure why this is not included in the author's series listing of books, but truly should be since it sets the stage for the book "Marked for Mayhem", series book 1 in listing. Maybe it is the pricing of this book in relation to the next in the series. I pondered the price increase for a dismal 25 additional pages so unfortunately, I am not going to continue with this series due to this. I my mind not very cost effective. I do think this book in the series well worth your time and $$.
Wow! Rage has many different meanings in this outer space suspense drama! Mostly, Rage is a living breathing male that can’t be controlled by a race of creatures with a plan to keep modifying genetically until they create exactly what they want! When a random delivery goes wrong and the pilot ends up involved in an escape everything changes!! Short but full of action ..suspense…danger…and lots of intense sizzling action! Left me wanting to read more about the Verexi and Rage! This is my honest opinion!!
Holy cow!! This book rocked me from beginning to end. Rage and his fearless human female pilot made quite the team. She delivered supplies to a godforsaken planet only to be solicited by a very intelligent bot to receive a very mysterious package unknown at the the time it was her fated mated mated. I tell you it got hot and heavy. Nope no spoilers. On to the next chapter.
3.5 stars but rounded up to 4 . I have been having this book on my Kindle for a while and decided to go ahead and read it. This is a quick, easy novella. This is book one in the crashed and claimed series. - I enjoyed the read, but I wish we got the full story of Mercy and Rage life, but maybe that is coming in another book. - The narrator did a good job telling the story.
On a planet with little atmosphere and inhospitable to the beings who run the research facility on it are cells with Alpha males of another species who have never been free. Being imprisoned for their entire lives made them want freedom more than most. They were all strong hardy males of a species not seen in this universe. Only one ship was ever allowed to land there to deliver supplies and the prisoners didn't know about it. Good Adult Read.
This is a prequel, not a finished novel. Captive lab-grown soldiers, evil aliens, independent older female heroins and spaceship crashes aren't new tropes, but Susan Hayes has a rather unique spin that makes me think this could be good reading. I'm persuaded; sign me up for the series.
Rage is an experiment from an illegal lab that is scheduled to die but with the help of an android he is smuggled out of his prison and onto pilot Mercy's ship to escape. Unexpectedly Mercy is Rage's mate but these two have more than mating to deal with, Rage's brothers are still stuck in the lab. This definitely an action packed read.
A prison full of abused and experimented upon males with an Android secretly supporting them against very powerful aliens is decommissioned since their creations rebelled. Rage is assisted by Bysshe (the android) to access Mercy's cargo ship and escape. Sexual escapades ensue and mating occurs.
Mercy and Rage’s story is the beginning of an intriguing new series by Susan Hayes. Mercy is an interstellar merchandise delivery person. Rage is an "experiment" gone wrong. Can they find a way to work together to save Rage's clan before their "creators" destroy them?
