I may be relinquished, but I am resigned. I will see the Ravens destroyed. Istanbul harbors the ancient clutch of vampires known as the Ravens, but the city has a thousand shadows and a million secrets. What I find there will be far more than I bargained for, and nothing I could have imagined. Some legends don’t want to be told.
The city pulses with duality, echoing my own. Stuck between worlds, belonging to neither the supernatural nor the human realms, my destiny dances on a sword’s edge… Caleb, the last slayer, makes no secret that he wants me in his life, but I know Tobias needs me more. And when we finally ferret out the nest of the infamous Vlad Tepeş, I will need them both more than ever.
But will they be ready to stand beside me when the truth is revealed?
I have mixed feelings about this book. It was mostly great, but then the ending kind of took some of my happiness away. Especially because the author announced a pause in the series and I am not ready, I need more of the story, some intermediate closure. All that aside, Geri is still amazing, Amy is incredibly funny character, Caleb is even more sweet and charming, Tobias is wonderfully grumpy and Cody is still a jerk. The characters are well developed and the world is expanding. After graduation, the group goes to Istanbul and most of the story plays out there. The sights and sounds and the atmosphere were perfectly conveyed in vivid details. There is an amazing scene where Geri stands up for herself and her feeling and causes a complete commotion, nearly burns some bridges, and it was the best scene in the whole series. Geri was magnificent. It was the best thing she did and I wish she did it sooner. Books only make sense if read in order. The reading order is: Requited Hood (Red Hood #0.5) available for subscribers to the author's newsletter on the author's website, Reluctant Hood (Red Hood #1), Relinquished Hood (Red Hood #2), and Ravening Hood (Red Hood #3).
Very few authors make my list who I *have* to get the next book from. Kendrai Meeks is one of them.
Ravening Hood, the 3rd book in the Red Hood Chronicles, finds us in the heart of conflict between wolves, hoods, vampires, and slayers--supernatural enemies forced to work together to prevent mass chaos from unfolding. Geri, Tobias, and Caleb are hunting Vlad and the Ravens across the globe, with less assistance than they'd like, all the while trying to figure out the nature of themselves and how they and their relationships fit into life. Add in the ancient history and legends in the city of Istanbul and you have the making for an amazing, fast read that sometimes makes you forget that the worlds don't actually clash in real life. (Side note: this is the second author whose work makes we want to visit Turkey. It's been added to my bucket list.)
In addition to the clash of worlds, you have Geri's hilarious roommate Amy, who you want to be your BFF and have drinks with while drooling over the next cute guy to walk in the room. She makes the best "token huey" and really adds a fun layer to this book and the series overall. I'm so glad she had such a big role in this book.
The ending of the book had me wondering where the heck the rest of my copy was, because SURELY it didn't just end like that?!? I canNOT wait for the next installment of the Red Hood Chronicles. This has been a really interesting twist on the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale. It's a fast read and Kendrai Meeks is wonderful at making me forget the world for awhile. I had a hard time putting this book down.
This was probably my favorite of the series so far. It would have even had a five star rating if it wasn't for the unresolved plot and cliffhanger ending. We learn more about hoods, slayers, werewolves, and vampires for this universe. It helps answers many of the lapses from the earlier books in the series. I'm hooked and looking forward to the next book. Unfortunately it may be awhile since this book just came out not that long ago. This is not a standalone so I recommend reading the other books in the series first.
The more I read of this series, the more I love it. I can’t wait for the next one in the series. Great story and character development. Devoured in a day!
OMG. This was a crazy book. I knew they loved each other but did he forest scene really happen or was it really a dream. Is she his beta? Did she really burn up and how did she come back. Did her burning to ash bring back her hood powers. Is Tobias dead? I have so many questions.

I became invested in this series from the first sentence of book one. Each time I knew another book was coming, I waited anxiously for it to land on my kindle. It was the same with this one, except I didn't want it to be the end. As much as I desperately needed to know the ending, I wanted the journey to continue. To say this finale lives up to all my expectations would be an understatement. It goes above and beyond anything I could have wished for. I still don't want it to be over, but damn, this series is fantastic!
Geri and Tobias have been skirting around each other for two solid books. Will serious danger get these two together? We shall see... In this book we finally get answers about what exactly Geri is. What that means for her future, only time will tell, but it definitely leaves you wanting more. I quite enjoyed the characters who were new to the storyline, and ones who made their presence more known. Great quick read!
I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion. Another 5 star review for Kendrai Meeks and her exciting and sensational Red Hood Chronicles.
I can not get enough of this series. As an avid Urban fantasy and Paranormal romance reader this series is right up my alley, but with a twist. I have read fairy tale remakes, but this is the only red riding hood one that I have ever come across and I am HOOKED! I love Geri's snarky, take no prisoner attitude. The connection she has with her friends is perfection, Like they are their very own pack. This book takes you on a bit of an adventure around the world and describes everything in wonderful detail, as if you are walking the secret passageways underneath the city of Istanbul yourself. This story has action, and surprises, heat and twinges of romance (#TeamTobiasForever!!) that are becoming more and more profound. There are secrets within secrets as the story continues to unfold and buy the end of this book I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat both praising and cursing Kendrai that it had come to an end and I have to not so patiently wait for the next book!!
I recommend this series regularly and I every single person that has taken the plunge has loved it and followed suit. I can't recommend it enough!
i realized that there's no character (personally for me) in this book that i REALLY love. everyone has some characteristic where i want to root for them and then another characteristic that i think is so annoying. i think geri is an interesting character-- her background/heritage, relationships, etc. and it's clear that she will do anything for those she really cares about... but i also get the sense that she has that 'special' syndrome where everyone likes her for some odd reason (her rebelliousness?). and i get it, she is the mc but i'm also just like whY?? i'm glad that geri finally speaks what's on her mind to her ex though it gets her in 'trouble' but at the end of the day, he really did her dirty and girl just has a broken heart. not surprised at what's revealed at the end but it's a killer cliff hanger
This was going to be another 4 star until the ending…that brought me up to 5 stars. I always thought with Geri’s abilities and instincts with the wolves that maybe there was some reason why that had to do with “the betrayer” and I’m so glad we get to hear what it is. Also! Geri and Tobias love each other! I think something happened during that dream…I think they’re mated now. And then a cliffhanger and she’s going to go trying to carry out her plans when her mate is suffering/ in danger? Crazy! He said to her he’s always been drawn to her and they have a connection but he was still mated when he first met Geri so I’m curious if we’ll find out about that. And Geri still needs to take her rites! Oh and what was the deal with her taking the solar flare and controlling it? So many questions! I’m immediately starting book 4.

So, back to 3 stars. Despite the language evolving marvelously and the characters gaining a lot more depth. Only Geri seems to get more stupid with each book, which is a problem for a protagonist. But seriously, there are several things said or happening while the story develops, and she ‘ignores’ them all, doesn’t even wonder about it, isn’t connecting any dots. Which is absolutely unbelievable, I mean hello, she’s a college graduate in biology and has been trained as a spy and to take over the house of red. For her to not get all those things she doesn’t get - it’s almost an offense to the reader. Still. The world remains interesting and the plot in itself hooks you up. I just wish she would fix Geri ...
Such an awesome storyteller in her own right, Kendrai, creates a world that any may enter and enjoy. Geri is a heroine that has been long in the making and is a story worth waiting for. Please bring more of her to surface as well as the rest of her kin. Kendrai makes her characters very life like and likable. I like the way she bends a story or stories we know into a jazzy version of the original and still keep it her own. My favorite urban paranormal authors include Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter,Kevin Hearne and now Kendrai Meeks. Thank you for allowing us a glimpse into your world of story telling.
I was really lucky to get an arc of this third book in the red hood chronicles. I found these books are just getting better. This book especially made my heart jump more times than I can count and I found myself laughing at some of the really clever comic moments. I really couldn’t put it down and found myself picking it up and loosing track of time. A great read if your looking for something different. Amazing!
Geri was a great character with more action and suspense as she continues to grow. More about her background is revealed. Seeing more about the werewolves and vampires as well as the hoods made this a great story and I loved all of these books. Such a refreshing take on the fairy tale that had the pages turning and kept me reading until the end. Loved it!
Travels to Istanbul make for quite an interesting experience. More than the Ravens are discovered. Truths are realized and exploited, all of which have unintended consequences. Geri's relationship status definitely falls into the category of "it's complicated" .
The third book in the series is even better than the first two. Geri’s journey continues into Europe, as we enjoy the journey we learn more about Hoods, wolves, Slayers and Vampires. Can’t wait for the last book.
Loved the whole thing , can't wait for the next one!!! The dynamic between the mother and daughter so volatile yet for reasons not explained yet no love is lost. What we hate it others is just manifested as the trait we most hate on ourselves.
Hoods, Slayers, werewolves and vampires. Mix them all together and you get the twists and turns you don't see coming. This series is a must read. I can't wait for the next one.
Wow. So much happened in this book. Big plot twist. I love Tobias. The plot twist is making me go back and rethink a lot that has happened between him and her… dang. I love this book. Can’t wait to read the next 💕
Just keeps getting more and more interesting. Tobias and Caleb, wish she could love both. The history and information in this story is so interesting and adds to the book. Think I just learnt some history and had a great time reading it in this book 4.2 stars
Amazing! Need more! The build is killing me in a good way. When Geri learns of her heritage, my skin chilled. The anticipation will have you begging for the next book, the possibilities....
Am enjoying his series. Its an interesting take on the Red Riding Hood tale. Characters are enjoyable and seem to evolve as well--a necessity for me. .
Honestly? I loved it! Geri's best friend, Amy, is worth it alone, but the whole story is really well done. I loved the twist. Can't wait for the next one.
