Good story

Enjoyable tale, best enjoyed if you read the entire series. Interesting combination of Neolithic fantasy/adventure and Sci Fi.
Closing main plot with interesting side twist that pull together nicely st the finish. I did get a little weary of the "Ross/Rachel" romance vehicle between the two protagonists... More of those words could be shifted elsewhere to deepen other components.. But, I enjoyed this series quite a bit.

I enjoyed reading this fantasy series. When I first heard of it, it was compared to Jean Auel’s Earth’s Children series, which I disagree with. The only similarity is in that they are both set in prehistoric times. This was a really well written fantasy series whereas Auel’s series is more of a historical fiction based on extensive anthropological research.

I have really enjoyed this series and I was excited to get to read this final installment to the series. It was well written with a compelling storyline and well developed characters that really rounded off the series and gave me everything that I have wanted from the series and much more, I laughed, I whooped and I cried. I kind of feel like the book could have been stretched into a 4th and a 5th book but thats me being selfish and wanting more so the series didn't end.
I loved it.

I struggled in parts with this book. After 4 (including Juaan’s POV) books building up to this epic final chapter, i expected a smoothly woven end in the same vein as the others. Unfortunately I found this book at once both drawn out and rushed, particularly towards the end (the sky lord scenes, the volcanic springs love scene and the ten minute return from the mountain of the gods when it took four days one death and the loss of an arm to get there were quite strange). Very satisfied with the end of Eldrax however Juaan’s ending was rage inducing, that entire redemption arc and it’s not saving Nyriaanna that gets him.

Got through it anyway

Yikes... Didn't leave room for a breath, too much, confusing, not well put together for the reader. Entire series jumped from prehistoric to space alien sci-fi, then left you with a sad bad ending. Overrated.

22nd of September was my spot on LoveBooksTours blog tour for The Last Kamaali by Lori Holmes. Because of the Queen’s funeral my reading schedule suffered and I’m still playing catch-up, I apologise that my review is late. I read this fantasy novel as an ebook for this tour. I’m glad that I took part on this blog tour as I liked this novel. I don’t usually read fantasy novels, I tend to read more thrillers and crime novels but fantasy as a genre makes a nice change to the more serious fiction. It is lovely to pick up a novel where the location is a world filled with magic and wonder. This fantasy novel was set in a magical realm filled with danger, battles, and cold and harsh winter, but there was also mother’s love and love in this world. Survival seemed to be a battle, and I liked the strength the main character possessed. It is great to read a novel where the main character is a strong and fierce female character.
I really liked reading this fantastical and magical fantasy novel. I think readers who like reading novels of this genre will enjoy it as well. I also liked the author’s writing style, character development and finding out more about the main characters as the story unfolded. I’m giving this fantasy novel 4 stars as I liked it.

3.5⭐️ I enjoyed this series a lot more than I thought I would (never read a series in this timeline before) but I’m so conflicted about this last book. Several punches were pulled but fell flat and one was forced on us for no reason. SPOILER — to watch Nyri and Juaan fight for each other for three books just to end with a poison dart (from a character who by all means should have stayed dead) was SO irritating. Yeah, it was also heartbreaking and Nyri passing her anguish on was a rattling moment but it was still so annoying. Maybe if Juaan’s death had happened under different circumstances I could reconcile with it more but it felt like it was done for shock value. I see how it might be an attempt to emulate his Reeba and his father’s story but ultimately it didn’t feel the same and didn’t work for me. Regardless of all that, I enjoyed the side characters becoming more and more important. Galahir quickly became my favorite and his story unfolding and ending as chief was glorious. While I’m still a little disappointed by the ending I do recommend this series as a whole. It was an epic journey. Very refreshing. Something unique in a world of copy paste fantasies.

I really wanted to love this book. I was so excited to finally see how this wonderdul, beautiful story came to an end. Unfortunately, after several books focusing on pre-historic hunter-gatherer societies with metaphysical elements, the sudden introduction of what amounts to the author's imagining of lizard illuminati overlords was really jarring and threw me off for the entire book. The timeline of the last half of the book is really off with travel being long or short, depending on plot convenience. The same can be said for language barriers. There at times, as is consistent with the rest of the series, and then suddenly, totally dropped. The whole story design felt very rushed and not nearly as thought out at the previous books in this series and judging by the amount of typos, the editors rushed this publishing as well.

Wow! Quite an adventure.

This story leaves me with so many emotions. It may take a day or two to process them. This final book in the series began with a surprising twist, which was woven throughout the story. It really made me think. It was a little confusing and distracting, however, it has given me much to think about. I am also left with such a sense of sadness as a beloved and integral character leaves the story. My heart snapped at that point. I love this story. There is so much to think about and ponder upon. It would really be good to find a group of people to discuss the interesting ideas birthed from this tale. I recommend this series without hesitation.

Ooooh-wei! Some serious book hangover here

This series is exciting at every turn. I was intrigued at the survival techniques that each tribe or people used. I loved the KI element - at one with all nature; living in the trees. The characters, of course, drove the stories - Heroic, flawed, redeemable, loving, courageous… so relatable and such wonderful characters. My heart is still reeling from the finale of book 4; although every one of the books were equally compelling. So much so that my sleep was filled with the different characters.

The Ancestors Saga

I loved the entire series, but I will admit that the very ending could have been different for the lead male and his future with Nyrianna. The series kept me captivated and involved. Very well put together series and story (saga).

Trying to decide if I want to read the Raknari series, which is Juuan’s backstory since it involves Eldrax whom I truly detest, but I do admit he is a great protagonist in The Ancestors Saga; therefore, I most likely will read the backstory.

Wow

I just don't know what to say. My heart is so involved in this one. Mostly happy but much sadness as well. This whole series is just one big rollercoaster. The heartache is real. Life is messy and the cruelty of mankind is truly on display but the goodness beauty and resilience of mankind is there as well.

I would recommend this read to anyone. It does get a little slow in the middle but not too bad. I would love to get into more detail but I don't want to ruin it.

WOWED
Fabulous fourth book in an incredible series! Thank you Lori Holmes for creating such an intriguing, mesmerizing, engaging set of stories!! I will be waiting for the next tale … not ready to let go of the complex character Juaan.
I highly recommend reading these books … you’ll fall in love with ‘another world’ … but then again, is it really … or could these tales be hints of our very own evolution/creation!?!

Great ending

Nyri and Juaan, along with the rest of their small group, have been separated. Things are moving fast as the sky god returns. Not the goid ones, but mister evil himself. This ending is very painful as there is death, destruction, pain and torture. But there is also love and hope for the future. Juaan fought for humanity and won, only to be struck by another foe.

This was a good series. The ending was sad and painful. But....
Read on my friends.

Can't rave enough about this whole book series! The characters have lived rent free in my head, even when the books weren't in my hands.
Lori Holmes is amazing, the constant twists to the tale, just mind blowing and the end... she ripped my heart out, stomped on it, fucked it right up and didn't put it back in.
Now i feel nothing but anguish and desperately want to find my way back to that amazing world, this book hit hard.

Deep sadness and confusion at 3:00 a.m.

How could you, after everything, have killed off juan at the end of the story? I wish id never read it...how dissapointing!
I dont even have the desire now to read the last book in the series
Thanks for ruining the story. No more for me.
Theres something quiet twisted about this whole evil Gods thing anyway. I just feel bad now. Poor neri, poor juan.
My money was wasted.

Wrapped up perfectly

Juaan and Nyri continue their struggles in this last book of the series. There’s also more of the backstory of the gods, Enlil, Enki and Ninmah. The Eagle clan and the Thals make more of an appearance in this book also. But really, the loose ends from the story are tied together perfectly. I have binge read these four books and this was really one of my favorite series lately.

Very heavy on the fantasy aspect of the story compared to the others in this series. But, even though I don't usually like fantasy stories, this one was quite riveting right to the very end! Just a great series that filled the void left when Jean Auel left us. Lori Holmes is definitely an author I will follow!

The entire series was well written! The only thing that I had trouble wrapping my head around was the explanation of the Gods. Which wasn't a bad thing. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed Nyri and Juuan's journey, the other characters and the stories of the other clans.
This was a great story of what could have been our ancestors and would highly recommend it.

A thrilling ride in a fantasy with a sprinkle based on pre historical findings

I enjoyed the series (4 books) very much. The main characters are well developed and the twists and turns of the story, keeps you turning the pages. The end of the last book saved it (in my opinion) from being too far off ...( The Gods, etc.,). But it's a fantasy.

Epic battle!

This was truly an awesome finale. The battle scenes were huge, bloody, massive, surprising and I really hated the ending. I know there isn’t always the happy ever after but man, I sure did hate to see that one die. So many surprises in this one…I look forward to reading Juan’s story when it comes out.

Great series

I really enjoyed this series.. Caught up in the lives of the characters. Laughter, tears, joy and sorrow. Word of caution as there are some sex scenes described in the books the most explicit in the last one. Can easily skip past if you don't want to read it. I would still recommend this series.

what an epic end.

I couldn’t stop reading. Absolutely amazing. Niri I have wept for you. The travels and hardships pain my heart. A world where gods are bitter beasts and their creations have to fight back or die. I will miss this world and am heartened to see other books from it to explore.

The Last Kamaali

The series finale lived up to expectations and now I’m hoping the birth of a new series to continue the saga of the remaining ancestors. So many questions remain about what happens next.

Enthralling and captivating

The more you know of the cultures, the clearer the contrasts and struggles between the cultures become. The mix of ancient myth, history and fantasy and science fiction, gives so much reality to the characters and the society created here.

Great book as the main characters nyri and juaan must join the different clans to fight against the giants sent by the gods. This is the 4th book in the ancestor series and ties things off nicely at the end.
