Wyoming. Unsurpassed wilderness soon to become a battleground. A lone warrior has harnessed the raw, natural power of one of the greatest predators of all time. And the land to which he has kinship, will no longer tolerate its desolation and decimation. War has been declared, and a zoological superweapon has been unleashed.
As ranchers begin to lose their cattle, their lands, and their lives, a small community reaches out to the only person who can help; Thomas Walker, a former hunter turned conservationist. And he will soon discover that the creature is more familiar to him than he ever thought possible.
Drawn back to his past, and a man with a score to settle, Thomas faces a fight on every front. But he’s not alone. His wife and daughter insist on accompanying him to the lands he belonged to before he belonged to them.
In the thrilling next adventure in the “Beast” series, the carnage and adventure come to the American west, and prove that it still belongs to the wild. A modern-day chiller that will have you on the edge of your seat and not to be missed.
In all seriousness though, I do think taking the adventure to the United States brings something new to the series. Our relationship with the animals and people at the heart of the series has also evolved towards something very new.
Okay, Shadow Beast, Daughters of Darkness, and Phantom Beast have got to be without question 3 of the best books I have ever read. And at 68 and believe me, I have read a lot of book. That is saying something plus I normally hate series but Luke Phillips knows how to finish one book. So that you can't wait for the next one. Not leave you hanging in the middle of the story you are reading and just making you upset. And determined to never to read another boom by that author again. Luke Phillips is Awesome and I hope he continues with this story line. I can't wait to see what happens next. With these big cats. And Thomas, Catherine, their sweet little redded toddler, that the big cat seem to love. Hope he hurry ups and gives us the next one. I am on pins and needles here. Never been watching an author so close. So excited!!!
This 'sequel' to his first novel (Shadow Beast) reunited us with Walker, now married to Catherine and with a young daughter, as they put the Cannich Beast episode behind them, and try to make their retailing project gain traction with the wary locals.
But soon they are off to the US to help Jesse, son of his Hunter friend killed by the Beast, with a new adversary.
This takes the story in a rather different direction, and the ending is somewhat unexpected, expanding the method Phillips has created here into 'Jurassic Park' territory. It's a rollicking good read, and I'm looking forward to his next book.
This is my third time with Thomas and Catherine. I think this is my favorite because more of their characters have been developed. The addition of new characters and explanation of the events that have taken place puts things in perspective. I really like this series and the way the story is told. These books have heart, science, mystery, and a the right amount of scare. Looking forward to the next one. Thank you for a great read. We'll done.
Like Shadow Beast, Phantom Beast tells the story of another, genetically modified sabre tooth cat loosed in the modern world, but with a twist. This time the story takes place in Wyoming/Colorado in lieu of the Scottish Highlands. Its fast paced, gory and filled with twists you won't see coming. Highly recommended!
The third book in the installment dosent let you down, the storyline is still exiting and thrilling, caracthers great and "monsters" more real than most in this genre, look forward to the next
This is an excellent series and really makes you think about the ramifications of dna splicing and cloning. It’s possible for someone with evil ideas to create true monsters if so inclined and that alone makes this a true horror story.
I have read all 3 of this series and I am impressed! A storyline and characters that you can really sink your teeth in, pun notwithstanding. I can't wait to see what happens next!
great finishing to the three book saga. fills in a lot of questions and details from the first two. introducing and ends the real monsters in this story. not nice to mess with mother nature
This is e Very good book.I recommend it to anyone who likes a good Cryptids story all of his books are great .thank you for Writing them Mr.Phillips...
