The Gladiator: Burn The Empire, Book #1

Raise your sword or lose everything.

Our fire station got a call for fireworks and I knew we could handle it. But, when the pyromaniac old lady opened a portal into a magical, ancient empire, there’s one problem.

I got sucked in too.

Now, I’m trapped at a gladiator’s school. This isn’t anything firefighter training prepared me for. Monsters rip entrails on the sand, high society generals love watching us crack open skulls, and there’s all those togas I can’t unravel fast enough when I get a stolen moment with one of my ladies.

But this world better get ready. If I can’t find my way home, I’ll make my own empire. And you know what they say.

This world isn’t big enough for the two of them….

[The Gladiator is an action-adventure isekai romance with swearing, adult situations, violence, and unconventional relationships. Written in American English, the main character has more than one love interest.]

Great Story; Good Writing

A fun and engaging story with good world and character building. Also love that it's written as a true harem.
There are some issues with misused homophones and leftover errors from editing. The worst issues aren't terrible. There are some plot inconsistencies such as when the character Blood drinker threw his helmet at the beginning of a fight scene, then had it wobble on his head from an impact later in the same fight. Also, the author occasionally switches tenses in action sequences from present to past. I'm personally not a fan of how the writing devolves to almost stream of consciousness during high stress situations, but this seems to be a stylistic choice of the author.

Great Book!

Phenomenal character building, relationships and tension. The only detractors are lacking worldbuilding (don't really know anything about the world or even the empire they are in, is slavery standard or only in this empire? Where do they even plan on escaping to?) and at the end giving alcohol to a pregnant woman. The natives might not know about the adverse effects, but as the mc came from modern earth, he should know better.

This is more like it

I love the realism woven into this fantasy tale. No accepting the situation as an act of god, no hero complex, no journey to save the world from some epic level evil. A regular guy tossed in an irregular world and his battle for freedom and to return home. Can't wait for book 2.

Very fun read

An overall excellently written book with a likable MC who isn’t overpowered. No magic, no special skills, just hard work and a lot of luck. Definitely interested to see the next book or novella in I series.
