Everyone in the world knows that Demon Lord Hua Che was cruel and vicious. A single disagreement could cause him to slaughter someone’s entire family.
What raised everyone’s hackles even more was how he had kidnapped the Immortal Lord Chu Binghuan, before shamelessly forcing him to become his Daoist companion!
Everyone cursed him, calling him shameless and disgusting, but he completely disregarded them. Hua Che only gently and cautiously tried currying favor with his crush, his white moonlight.
However, even until death, the only things he managed to obtain from Chu Binghuan were the words “shameless”, “we’re irreconcilable enemies”—these kinds of hurtful phrases.
Luckily, after he was reborn, Hua Che finally understood: stolen melons were not sweet. During such a nice era, wasn’t strolling with a cat or teasing a dog also fun?
First, he had to go to Chu Binghuan’s family to break their arranged marriage.
However, the lofty Chu Binghuan, who was originally devoted to cultivating and always disdained his wooing, suddenly had a huge personality change. No matter where Hua Che went, he would follow, and it was impossible to lose him!
Hua Che borrowed a certain person’s words and said, “Shameless!”
Chu Binghuan: “You and I have long had an engagement, and we’ve even slept in the same bed. This is a matter of course.”
Hua Che continued borrowing someone’s words: “We are irreconcilable enemies who cannot live under the same sky!”
Chu Binghuan: “Then the two of us should travel beyond the sky, becoming the perfect immortal couple.”
The story reminds me of mo dao zu shi ( Grandmaster of the Demonic cultivation). The characteristics and relationship dynamics between the main couple is very similar. Also how the mc was misunderstood in the past live . But the story also has its unique plot points. It is a short story with only 61 chapters but there are not any plot holes considering it spans through two lives of mc in the cultivation world. Overall a decent read with well designed characters even the villains have proper motivation for their actions. I feel it would be nice to explore the lives of the supporting castes as well. Overall a 4 star read . One minus star because of elements of misogyny. so a 3 star read
Lots of angst. Rebirth novel, lots of misunderstandings. There is a bit of plot convenience to make the story make sense, but it's not too bad. The relationship hass a lot of pining and it takes a long while, but both are very devoted to each other. A bit of exploration into the found family trope, and how meeting the right people can change your life.
Good novel, would recommend if you like rebirth and angst and unravelling of misunderstandings.
(TW: mentions of SA, quite a bit of death. These are all I remember right now, there might be others.)
I was going back and forth about giving this a 2 or a 3 so maybe more of a 2.5 but it was really a slog to finish. It was just kind of lacking? It wasn't romantic enough or funny enough or angsty enough but it also wasn't bad, it just wasn't particularly good.
Summary: Hua Che is the lord of the demonic cultivators and he kidnaps the ML but then ends up dying. Hua Che gets reborn and decides that this time he's not going to pursue the ML even though their grandmothers had made a promise to have them get married. Hua Che decides to break off the engagement and live a little life except the ML (who he doesn't know was also reborn) keeps sticking to him and insisting they are still engaged.
I read the available translation and MTL-ed the rest., That was an enjoyable read - no excess fat in the story, and I liked how the MC kept his core principles in the first life and second life, despite his life experiences. I was also pretty happy with how concisely it dealt with the villains - there wasn't any case where the villain kept coming back/reviving etc. Every question around the plot was also solved satisfactorily, and I can't recall if there were any loose thread. I gave the story full rating because, as far as stories went, it delivered what it needed within the chapters it had. My only complaint was that I'd love to see more of the MC & ML's romance after the ending, but that's not enough to take off a star. Also, the MC was shou - I wasn't expecting that.
after a long time suffering from a reading slump i picked up this book. I do not regret choosing this. What a wonderful story. i hope chu binghuan and hua che spend the rest of their immortal lives loving and pining over each other.
