Destiny Born #2

Destiny Bound

Rate this book
It was supposed to be a straightforward task. Travel to Castle South, meet the prince who I am intended to marry, and become the future queen of the South.

Where did I end up instead? Attacked, bleeding, and led through my own kingdom by a Hunter of Shadowers. The man of fire that burns me with a simple look.

I thought I knew what my life should be. The sacrifices I needed to make for my kingdom and all of Terra Mor.

But here I am, in a place that even the bravest souls don’t dare to visit, being told that nothing, not even my identity, is what I thought it was.

Where do I go from here?

Fantastical world building, wolf shifters, faeries, vampires, dragons, and fated mates! Abigail Grant creates adventures of fantasy, epic romance and all things paranormal. Enemies to lovers readers delight!

This is a great urban/fantasy read that’s fast paced, has incredible world building and draws you in immediately. A well written exciting adventure as we follow Fin and Rhen on their journey in this fae/shifter romance! Addictive, entertaining and gripping, once I picked this up I just could not put it down. Now to wait patiently for the next book!

This is book two of the Destiny Born series and the main characters are Rhen, Princess Rhenara Landras of The North and Fin (Hatcher), a Hunter reborn in fire and ash. Rhen is a wolf shifter and oldest daughter of the King of the North. She has already been promised in marriage to the King of the South’s only son, in a pact to unite the North and South. The North is a frozen landscape of cold, ice and snow, whilst the South is hot heat, dry deserts and fire. After she was attacked by the very man sent to escort her south and saved by Fin, they have ended up in a place called Landless where they meet a seer, who is also the leader of the numerous factions all living in peace together there. The seer had a vision of the arrival of Fin and Rhen and links to an ancient prophecy of the Woman of Two Bloods. Rhen must marry before her birthday which is in a few days and if the seer’s vision is correct, then she will gain powers over fire or ice, or both! Much like Fin has powers over fire as a Hunter and his rebirth. Hunters don’t marry ever, but Fin offers to marry her to make this vision come true. Rhen was due to marry a perfect stranger anyway and at least she feels she knows Fin and he has saved her live a couple of times already!
Chief Azelea arranges their wedding ceremony in the fae tradition and they form an instant bond and a permanent sign of this is formed on their chests. Rhen’s new status as the Woman of Two Bloods, leaves her being called different names by the islanders of Landless, from The Woman, Shadow Queen, to Shadow Mother. The thought is that she is going to be the person to unite dark and light, the dark of the Shadowers and the light she brings to the dark, able to dispatch the Shadowers for good. But that may not be her actual role with the Shadowers, with her new skills. After the wedding she was able to send a letter to her family in the North, but the reply gave worrying news of her twin brother and sister travelling to see her in the South, not knowing of the attempted assassination of Rhen. They could be in danger and Rhen needs to find them and make sure they don’t come to any harm, but will soon run into the dragon shifter ambassador to the South, who tried to kill her the first time around! Azelea sends some of the Landless to help protect her on her journey and while she and Fin visit the Market, they separate for the evening. Fin and Rhen camp in the forest, but danger finds her there! Someone she knows well enters the scene just in time to help and has questions for Fin and what he is to Rhen, in a cliffhanger ending. Each part of this series is a short story, with another part of the tale expanded upon and more action coming forth. We learn more about Fin and his role as a Hunter, as well as the Shadowers and the danger they bring. I look forward to seeing what comes next for Rhen and Fin. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Rhen and Finn are now on the island called Landless where a Chieftain Seer has predicted that Rhen must marry before her 21st birthday in order to gain new powers and fulfill her prophecy of unifying the different realms of Terra-Mor. Finn is only too eager to propose himself.
The couple conquers the affection of the Landless population.
The author masterfully spins a sequel to the first book of this endearing series. She uses her gift to virtually transport as well as guides the reader through new love experience shyness, the sheer joy of being encouraged and loved by an entire village, the fear and overwhelming anxiety of experiencing new powers. The adventure, battles, love, and laughter at the teasing of the main characters make the book a 5 Stars rated page-turner. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This is a great urban/fantasy read with a fast pace, incredible world building and it pulls you in right away and doesn't let go. It continues the adventure of Fin and Rhen who are in Landless. I won't reveal more, otherwise the fun will be gone. It was funny and cute and entertaining to watch as they both fight their feelings.

I received this ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

woah… 🤯

Rhen was not prepared to have her mind blown. She’s learning how sheltered she was and how much she really didn’t know. She also didn’t know how much cruelty- and awesome- could surround her. Her eyes are now open and she’s learning. She’s trying. Fin is also kinda just chasing after her while trying to deal with so much change that he thinks is impossible. Azalea is fantastic! I love her. Coru is hilarious!!! And the journey continues!!

Fin and Rhen are in Landless and meeting the people there and getting close to each other. Things happen and off they are again on an adventure. It was funny and cute and entertaining to watch as they both fight their feelings and try to figure out if Rhen really is really the one. Lots of fun scenes and characters to enjoy and a cool surprise at the end.

I really enjoyed this story! I also give this one a 3.8 star review! I love that it doesn’t feel like it’s a separate entity from book 1; the flow is really good. It is a really sweet sequel to the crazy adventure and mischief happening in book 1!

I’m super excited to see how Rhen’s journey continues heading into the south, and what happens between her and Fin.

I didn’t want to put this book down although it felt a bit strange that two people care so much for each other, marry and just steal looks at each other? Saying that, I can’t wait for the next book so I can continue their journey with them. I received this book as an ARC and give this review freely.

Same excellent writing as in book one. The author continues to weave a spellbinding tale. The pacing is fast. Can hardly turn the pages quickly enough. Loads of twists in this tale.
