I love Yun standing his ground! It’s admirable that he sticks to his morals even if he has to stand up to his loved ones. I love how he is now Min-su’s assistant! They are a good duo and it’s going to be interesting to see how they try to treat this illness.
Hak is such a wonder to see on the battlefield. He is such a key player and his presence really determines the outcome. I love to see him get recognition for his talent. I feel so bad for Geun-tae because he loves to fight. This is really going to negatively impact the army’s spirits.
I hate how the dragons are going to have short lives. The panels where Yona is seeing them in their coffins was heartbreaking. I don’t want my family to be teared apart!
The fact that the Advisor wants Yona to command the army in case Su-won is unable to is a huge step. It shows how his close circle is realizing that Yona can be beneficial and could be a good leader for the kingdom.

WHAT WAS THAT ENDING?!
Seriously, was that a foreshadowing what's to come?! And what was with Zeno saying what he did in a conversation with Su-won?! If that was a legit foreshadowing, I will be so heartbroken and angry! Definitely not going to try and jump to conclusions, but that was the ONE thing I NEVER want to happen for this series. (Plus I NEVERRRR want to see Sinha in a panel like that *ever* again.)
Outside of that very alarming moment, I really enjoyed this volume! I never know where I stand with this series because its so up and down (which isn't a bad thing), but I feel I'm always bracing myself to not like what's happening next to the characters because I love the characters too much. LOL! Seeing Yun and Hak together was absolutely wonderful though! I hope THAT is a GOOD foreshadowing to the next volume! ;P
I really like this new character Meinyan! I think she is absolutely stunning and enjoy seeing her fierceness and determination. It was hard seeing her "fall" to the crimson sickness and have such high and strong hopes that maybe Yun can find a cure? Everything seems too despair-ish and need something to hope for in regards to everyone so I'm going to hold onto it. LOL!
And also that one scene with the Earth Tribe! :o :o :o What in the world?!?! There are just certain characters that cannot be touched and deeply hoping this series ends on a happy note. I know I keep coming back to that, but dang it, I got attached to these characters and want happiness for them! Its extremely rare NOT to have a happy ending for the main cast of characters, so even if the series doesn't stick with traditional shojo beats, PLEASE stick with the happy ending of shojo, Kusanagi!

This series continues to be a favorite. Every volume moves the plot forward perfectly and I feel like I’m always left waiting on edge for the next one.

*bites nails nervously* Oh boy this upcoming battle is already making me nervous and fear for everyone’s lives and nothing has even happened yet! 😬
While still separate for the most part, I was really happy the Happy Hungry Bunch did get a brief moment together, and oh my goodness do these characters make me laugh and snort with the things they say and do despite the direness surrounding them. I just love these dorks so much. 🥰😍🥰😍 And they better all survive…
South Kai’s emperor creeps me out. Seriously, the man is a creepy, evil, psychopath and I’ve only met him once. 😬 Dude doesn’t know how to give good vibes or first impressions. 👀
And everything else going on and being woven throughout this story has me so nervous and having NO IDEA where this story is going or how it’s all going to end. All I know for sure is don’t mess with Hak. Like, seriously, just don’t.
So excited yet anxious and nervous for the next volume to release!

I never tire of the Yona formula: new character enters the story, is kind of villainous, but then eventually starts to be swayed by Yona and the Dragons as we learn more about the character and start to like them. I LOVE THIS SERIES SO MUCH.

“Maybe I shouldn’t be trying to protect someone who’s killed others. I’m sure none of them wanted to die, and I hate violence. This might cause problems for a lot of people, and I don’t know what’s right. So I’m sorry but I’m studying medicine at this castle. I came here because I wanted to heal people. That’s all that matters to me.”
One character we haven't gotten a lot of focus on is Yoon, so it was nice seeing him take more center stage this time around. His philosophy in the story is so refreshing and brave, a bravery to uphold his different views that it makes for an interesting change of pace.
Mei-nyan is a character that I'm starting to find intriguing in her own right, especially as it seems that she is quite intertwined with this Val character.
Getting to see more of Kai, of Chagol, and how things are on the other side of the coin is interesting. Generally, when we have gotten to see some of the enemy it has signaled that there is something to be rescued from them and I can't wait to see what. Plus, the inklings that the story might be more connected to the neighboring kingdom make everything a little more complicated.
Because we can never rest for long the bigger-than-life setting is back and I'm not ready for another full-blown conflict to take place so soon. These poor characters need some time to rest.
“Excluding mine, your disease is like that of the dragons. It condemns the afflicted to die young. There is a price to be paid for a human possessing blood that transcends humanity. Regardless of whether the next dragon wants it, the toll will be exacted.”

Not too eventful of a volume, sorta. But the gang is splitting up a bit!
RECAP: Nyan (idr her name lol) is on the run on the palace grounds, she collapses and Run takes care of her, Hak is tasked with hunting her down, Suwon asks if Zeno wants to be king, Hak and Fun set out to get senju herb, Yona jumps down a building to say bye to Hak, Geuntae is injured and Hak comes to save the day. Kai emperor tasks a general with retrieving Nyan.
Oh and there was a half naked Hak on one of the end pages and I screenshot it and it's going to be my lock screen.

This series will always my one of my all-time favorites. Every part of the storyline, characters, world-building, suffering, pain, love, and growth is combined with a perfectionist's hand. I love Hak, Yona, the four dragons, Sowoon... I just love all of them, I never changed my mind.
The best thing about this story, even though I have a break for MONTHS, whenever I return it, I always feel how effective this story becoming. I don't know if I'm gonna cry at the next pages of the story, but it's worth to shot guys. YOU HAVE TO READ THIS.

This volume slows the pace of the plot a lot, but it's only to prepare us for what's coming : the war. The slower pace allows the reader to learn more about what's preparing in South Kai or Soowon's illness (both things that make me worry a LOT). The HHB is preparing, each in their own way, and helping around.
I really love Hak. I feel like we never go into depth about how cool his character is. I wish we had more of a backstory or information about him. The more I see him, the more I think that his powers are simply not human. It's clear, especially in the last chapter, that he's of a different breed. I have no idea if the author plans to have this explained or not all.
I wonder how Soowon's illness will evolve. Everytime I think it can be cured, some piece of dialogue proves me otherwise, and I'm just terrified he's not going to make it. His character is way too interesting, and I just want to know more. Especially with the Coup Crew being forced by the illness to trust Yona more and more, I really want to know what will happen next (especially with the way Yona was set aside for these few chapters).
Last thing I want to add: I love Zeno. Let him have the peace he so desperately craves at the end.

(Mostly) Rough Summary:
Hak is (was) in prison. Su Won is still dying. So is Emperor Chagol’s concubine Meinyan, who is related to Su Won by blood and is thus also afflicted with the Crimson Sickness. Yun has become an assistant physician for Su Won and is trying to find a way to cure the sickness. Meinyan tried to pursuade Hak to escape prison with her and he refused because he didn’t want to cause Yona any trouble. He ended up getting released anyway because they wanted him to capture Meinyan after she escaped because she knows the emperor’s secret. Turns out Yun had found her and was taking care of her. Possible ship? Anyway, Yona breaks out of the palace to see everyone, and when Yun and Hak leave the palace to look for Senju herbs she asks Hak to take care of Yun, seeing as he also found out about the emperor’s secret and is in more danger than ever. Hak was saddened that because of the situation he could not share any form of affection with Yona, such as telling her he missed her. This is dispelled when Yona tells him not to lower his head when he is talking to her. He is shocked (in a good way) but little does he know it’s because she wants to see his face (can’t blame her). I fangirled super hard over this cute moment but sadly it’s the only one we get in this book. Moving on, there was a surprise attack from emperor Chagol’s army onto the Earth tribe, and to protect a child General Geun Tae takes three arrows to the back and is severly injured. He may never be able to fight again (SOB). Because he is such a great asset to Kouka, his lack of presence will give them a great disadvantage in the battlefield. This is terrible considering the current situation with Su Won’s health as well. Su Won is looking for a successor and asks Zeno if he is interested. Zeno says he is definitely not. He recommends Yona but Su Won says he never considered her (wth). Also, Su Won doubts that Hak would agree to go with Yun to get medicine for him, but he is told Hak easily agreed. Of course, since Hak actually cares about that dumb piece of trash. That insult just ruined my rough summary but I will continue anyway. Yona is asked by advisor Keishuk that should something happen to Su Won, he wants her to lead the army (finally someone that understands Yona’s worth even though I hate the advisor).
That was the rough summary, and will be helpful when the next volume comes out and I can’t remember anything. Now let’s move on to what I thought about this volume:
OF COURSE IT WAS GREAT!!! First of all, I was internally dying when Hak was working out in prison, refusing to escape even when his jail cell is opened because he didn’t want to stir up trouble. BUT HIM WORKING OUT SPECIALLY WAS HILARIOUS. AND HE DID OVER 6,500 PUSH UPS WITH NO BREAKS. THAT IS INHUMANE AND ABSOLUTELY COMICAL AMIDST SUCH A CRITICAL ARC IN THE SERIES. I will now stop with the fangirling. Yona continues to be admirable, and she is a rare case of a shoujo manga where I absolutely adore the heroine. Yona of the Dawn is still considered a shoujo manga, after all. Anyway, I LOVE YONA. AND I LOVE HAK. AND THEY NEED MORE MOMENTS TOGETHER AHHHHHHHH.
Y’all, am I the only one who is in love with Yun? Please tell me I’m not the only one. If he’s gonna worry about me as much as he did over Meinyan then I’ll DROP DEAD RIGHT NOW. Actually, I need to be alive so he can treat me. I ALSO WANT SPECIAL TREATMENT FROM HIM! Girl doesn’t know how lucky she is…
Jaeha did not deserve to get smacked and accused of startling Yona when she only screamed because of her bad dream… LEAVE THIS MANS ALONE. Kija is hilarious, but LAY OFF OF JAEHA MY BOY!
And Shinha and Ao continue to be adorable… gosh I love everything about this series, and if general Guen Tae doesn’t get help I will cry my eyes out. I also want Meinyan to be cured because she is funny, and I’m glad she’s not one of those stereotypical flies who cling onto the male lead when they meet them. Rather, I think she has potential with Yun… although it will probably not happen, but it would be a great ship!
If you have not read this series, please give it a shot even if you’re not into manga. Otherwise, continue to miss out 🤷♀️

Non c'è mai un attimo di pace in questo manga: i preparativi per la guerra con il Kai meridionale sono sì pronti, le tribù sono compatte, ma i problemi di salute del re rappresentano una fonte di preoccupazione. A cui si aggiunge un'altra notizia sconvolgente: l'agguato al generale Geuntae, ferito in maniera gravissima. È vivo solo grazie al tempestivo intervento di Hak, arrivato lì insieme a Yun per cercare un'erba che potrebbe aiutare (o forse no) Suwon. Un'azione ben pianificata da parte del nemico, con l'obiettivo di gettare nello sconforto la tribù della Terra, fortemente legata al suo generale. E così, la campagna militare di Koka parte già male. E per evitare ulteriori momenti di panico, Yona dovrà accompagnare Suwon in battaglia (se le cose dovessero mettersi male, sarà chiamata anche a guidare l'esercito in prima persona).
Due parole anche su Mei-nyan, un personaggio abbastanza interessante: una donna che ha un passato nell'esercito, che, mossa dal tentativo di raggiungere Kuto e i quattro draghi, seduto il gran capo del Kai meridionale per diventarne la concubina prediletta. Una donna sempre mossa dal desiderio di trovare una cura per la malattia scarlatta. Ma purtroppo la soluzione sembra molto lontana. Se non altro, ora può contare sul buon cuore di Yun, di Yona e del resto della banda. Certo, il suo big boss la rivuole indietro, anche se non si sa bene cosa vuole farne una volta riportata a casa...
Con mia somma sorpresa, il mio recupero di Yona sta andando alla grande. Non sono molto brava a rispettare i miei buoni propositi, ma questa volta mi ci sono messa d'impegno. Non so perché mi sono fermata per tre anni, sta di fatto che mi sono ritrovata con 19 volumi da recuperare. Fortunatamente, la serie è sempre rimasta molto piacevole. Anzi, direi che è diventata anche più interessante, si aggiungono sempre più dettagli. I personaggi sono ben sfaccettati: lo stesso Suwon, che io personalmente non sopporto, è una figura molto intrigante, non è concepito per essere il classico villain da quattro soldi (tanto più che in questi ultimi volumi, ho scoperto qualcosa di più sulla sua storia e sulle sue motivazioni). Bene, il mese prossimo mi leggerò gli ultimi cinque volumi che mi rimangono, così mi rimetterò in pari. Sperando di non bloccarmi di nuovo...

Oh boy, this took an interesting turn on two different counts. I had been expecting some switch when it came to the generals, though not exactly this. I wonder where Kusanagi will lead us.
As for the second bit, ever since Soo-won started talking more to Zeno, I knew that something would result from that, but again, not exactly this. Very interesting conversation they had, especially in light of recent events and considering the very premise of this manga.
I wonder if Yona's dream will play any role in the future. And if so, to what extent.
Lastly, loved that bonus chapter. So adorable!
