I “discovered” Timothy McGowen through his Arcane Knight books (now 2 books in the series - and, as per my separate review, total fun). Those were so good that I had to try others so I turned to his Last Born of Ki'darth series. The bad news here is that they’re dangerously addictive leading to binge reading and loss of sleep. The good news is that they’re a total blast and, even better, the series is complete (though there is room for a sequel that I hope is in the works). I loved watching the lead here, Nick, develop in powers, maturity and as a truly neat person, all in the context of an extremely exciting and well written story arc that has been a total joy ride. As a bonus, the mysterious creator entity Mah’kus, who had an even more mysterious - so far - role in the Arcane Knight books, also appears here thus very loosely tying the series, so who knows maybe there will be a crossover some day. As for this series, and each of its books, they’re all deserving of a 5 star rating in my opinion - and all highly recommended.

Book 1? Gold. Book 2? Even better. Book 3? Disappointed

Setting aside the multiple spelling and grammar errors I felt the story was short. Not in the common you start reading and can't put it down type but the "I'm already 40% done with the book? But nothing happened" that gives a sense of dread. It was like the author didn't know where to go from there so they kinda just messed around until 98% of the book was done so the final battle could take place. I unfortunately predicted every event that happened in this book before it happened. A very sad ending to the series. I think I liked this story more when it was just up in the air after book 2. I knew it was going to be hard after he went back from God to mortal but it's like he reverted to a teenager I'm-indestructible attitude and nearly dies multiple times as a result.

Great Reading

This story of a guy reborn on a high tech with magic world. It was a very interesting entertaining fast paced action packed story that I really enjoyed reading.

Just keeps getting stronger

I seem to have missed something in the last book, but I read it awhile ago. I loved what the emperor was. The battles were awesome too.
