I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of the book tour hosted by Lovebookstours.
Hacked! is a fantastic book for anyone who loves logic or puzzles in general. This book contains over seventy different code braking puzzles including; Barcodes, blueprints, number plates, pixels, motherboard, time, keys, fingerprints, QR codes, and much much more. I've not had time to do the whole book, but I've given a few of them a go, and some are much harder than you think. I'm definitely going to continue on through these puzzles. See if you're a hacker in the making and give this book a go!
If you like puzzles, cyphers and codes that are designed to get the grey matter really working, then this book is definitely for you. It’s filled with over 70 different puzzles to crack, and all with varying degrees of difficulty. I consider myself to be a relatively smart person, but some of these puzzles have got me completely stumped! At least they have for now, I’m not ready to give up all together yet, so I’ll be going back to them to keep trying, but I think it’s safe to say that I don’t think I’ll be becoming a hacker anytime soon, lol. Why don’t you give it a go? See if you can outsmart your friends or family? You will have great fun. This is a great puzzle book that is definitely enjoyable and I’m happy to recommend it. My thanks to the author and to LoveBooksTours for gifting me this book. I am leaving this review of my own volition.
This is an easy book to pick up and dive into as and when. The puzzles are fun and I like that there's a bit of story behind them too.
I appreciate the different mix of puzzles as it gets your brain working from different angles. It also means if you didn't enjoy that style then you can just move on to the next one.
I haven't found a puzzle that's stumped me yet... but this isn't my first rodeo.
My family loves doing puzzles of any kind and I actually have a couple of Gareth's other books on my shelf (The Perfect Crime and The Ordnance Survey Great British Treasure Hunt).
Overall, a fun and entertaining puzzle book that's bound to blow the cobwebs out of your brain.
*I received a complimentary copy of the book from LoveBooksTours and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Hacked! doesn’t require any real-world knowledge or technology. There are no trick questions and you just need a pencil. You don’t need to complete a puzzle before attempting another, so you can pick and choose which ones you fancy having a go at.
Quite a few puzzles were right up my street - I find number puzzles easier than the visual/shape puzzles. With 100 different puzzles, there are plenty to choose from. I love that the answers are at the back of the book, which is great for hints and checking your answers.
The format is great, it’s all very clear. There are a mixture of one page and double page spread puzzles. I can’t fault this puzzle book!
Hours of entertainment in this book. One hundred number and logic puzzles - plenty to get the brain cells working. I’m a lapsed member of MENSA and I adore puzzles like this, particularly logic puzzles. It’s a long time since I’ve done any and this book reminded me just how entertaining it can be to arm yourself with a cup of tea and a collection of puzzles to give the brain a workout. Use it or lose it is a very real thing. A couple of puzzles a day is enough to retain some sharpness of thought and to improve memory function. Loved it. Highly recommended.
I’ve done one of these puzzle books before by Dr Moore and really enjoyed it, certainly gets the brain cells going! The puzzles start off quite easy and lull you in, as the book progresses they get harder and harder. I thought I had quite a good puzzle mind but these books showed me I’m not as good as I thought.
I really enjoyed this one, I got a bit stuck towards the end - even had hubby helping with anagrams! I have a few more puzzles to do in this book and look forward to getting stuck in to more and really getting those little grey cells working out.
