The Curse of Crooked Elbow: A funny detective book for kids aged 9-13

Rate this book
The Curse of Crooked Elbow is the first miserable misadventure in the Armitage Hump detective series for children aged 9-13. Funny, yes. Thrilling, definitely. Ridiculous, quite possibly. Enjoyable, undoubtedly.

Molly Coddle needs a story for her school newspaper. Wretched recluse Armitage Hump is the most famous private … no, private famous detective on the planet. When the two collide it results in a breathtakingly bonkers adventure that neither could ever have predicted.

Constance Snoot has been cursed. For the rest of her days she will wander the streets of Crooked Elbow in her sleep, damaging and destroying all that she comes across. As a last resort, she turns to Armitage and begs him for help. Armitage, against his better judgement, takes the case … and then takes Molly with him to solve it!

From mysterious fortune tellers to flying stilettos, secret basements to bone-crushing wrecking balls, nothing is ever quite how it appears and nobody can be trusted. Determined to get to the bottom of things, Armitage and Molly put their lives on the line as they try to uncover the truth. The truth, however, is closer than it seems.

And the enemy is even closer than that!

A page-turning, rip-snorting ride of a book enjoyed by 1000 ... no, 10,000 ... wait, 100,000 ... oh, I don't know ... lots and lots of readers. Buy now. Read today. Or tomorrow. Or whenever you feel like it.

If you want a silly, funny, ridiculous read to make you laugh and relax, this is a good pick. I’m sure it is meant for a younger audience but I feel many of the jokes would be above their little heads. I enjoyed the chuckle.
