I couldn’t but this down, as I finished each short stories and poem my heart swells thinking how all of you came together to help others in need who are being persecuted in their own country for just being. I connected with Helia in duethis with her insecurities but not letting them no longer hold her back. In case of rain I understood all to well growing up on a working farm & people look at you funny because your time was taken by the weather & chores. This Anthology has something for everyone. Thank you! I’m proud to be 2nd generation American Ukrainian 🇺🇦 My grandparents came to America in the 1900, I heard stories from my father that his parents told seeing family & friends being shot for having salt & flour…..and here we are once again

This review is for Her One True Wish by Heather Scarlett.

This is a prequel for " Snowed in for a Second Chance". It's a sweet story on the beginning of Sarah and Griffin's romance and love. It's a short story, is well written, moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.

This review is for the book And He Did
Élodie Garroway has written a fast-read book. This is the story of Thea and Grayson. Thea has a crush on Grayson when growing up. He never seemed to see her other than Chase's little sister. She decided to get over him when he went to college and started to bring girls home on his breaks. She has not seen him since she opened her fight club Bash and Brawl. Thea is at her desk working on the books when her friends Hannah and Gracie come in and tell her that they are going out. Thea tries to get out of it but she is told it wasn't going to happen. They go to La Cerise, her brother Chase's club. Thea knows that they will have to have drinks and dance before they go up to the V.I.P lounge. She looks up at the V.I.P. and sees Grayson. She wonders what he is doing back in town. Things are going well until a guy won't take no for an answer from Thea. She is ready to take care of the guy when someone else does it. She looks up and sees Grayson. "What? I could have handled myself. I am a grown woman, Grayson and I can take care of myself." He gets into her personal space and said, "Upstairs now, Bash." Thea narrows her eyes at him spitefully, "Make me." "Gladly." Before she knew what was happening, she is thrown over his shoulder and he is heading upstairs. He passed the V.I.P. and walked down the hallway to a locked office. “I thought you didn’t work here anymore,” she ground out, slapping him. “Let me down you, oaf.” “Chase’s accountant’s wife just had a baby, I’m helping out with the books. What was that out there?” “Excuse me? That was me trying to have a good time. She tells him that one drink was not enough to deal with his attitude. Thea starts to get off the desk but Grayson steps in between her legs and asked, "Why didn't you take care of that guy when he first got in your face?" I taught you better than that. “Because, if I recall correctly, you don’t want to see me on the news for assault,” Thea fired back. She tells him that she could've knocked the kid out but it would not look good on the news. She tells him that his is going to be worse. ‘CFO of Abbott Industries caught in a wild club brawl’, news at ten.” She asked, "Why do you care, you are never around. He tells her that he is always around. "Maybe for Chase, sometimes an odd phone call but you are never here!” Thea thumped her chest, the unsaid ‘with me’ ringing loud and clear in the silence. "Why must you fight me at every turn?" Grayson asked. Because that is the only way I can get you to pay attention to me, Thea said. Grayson grabbed her and kissed her. After the kiss, he said, "If you are playing with me -. he groaned. I'm not playing with you.
Will Thea and Grayson get together for good?

Stand For Ukraine is a multi-author Charity Anthology with proceeds going to Save the Children in hopes of providing Ukrainian children with food, warmth, shelter and psychological support in these times of devastation and destruction. So many wonderful and generous authors have come together from across the globe to provide stories filled with hope, heart and understanding, inspired by the events of February 2022. If for no other reason, this anthology and your support and caring for a nation ravage by the greed of one nation and its disregard for the suffering of the afflicted. There is definitely something here for everyone, but please buy the anthology and discover the beauty within for yourself.

This anthology shows how wonderful the indie author community is, how caring and supportive in times of need. I honestly couldn’t believe how many authors had contributed to this collection of short stories. Each one is different yet filled with a clear message.

Susan Horsnell’s story, Never Lost, is one that is very poignant and has left a lasting impression on me. The main character, Kandice, is such a strong woman yet even the strongest of us can get fed up and feel weakened by outside influences, aka government agencies, that make it difficult to really help those in need. I felt her pain so much, although, as with the other stories, this is a very short one it packs a huge punch where you feel the emotions so clearly through the power of this author’s words.

Congratulations to all of these authors and their marvellous stories.

And He Did by Elodie Garroway is a short story that took me about ten minutes to read. It starts with a flashback from 2007, as Thea and her friends are fighting after insulting each other's mothers, and some older boys are holding them back, including Grayson that Thea has a crush on. Fifteen years later, Thea owns a gym that is a bit of a fight club, popular with MMA fighters and people who need self defense courses. The girls are no longer fighting with each other, they go dancing instead. When Thea meets Grayson again sparks fly. In short flash fiction such as this, there are bound to be unanswered questions but the author manages to create an entire storyline. It is part of a charity anthology for Ukraine.

Heather Scarlett's Her One True wish is a sweet five minute read starring Sarah who is a seventeen-year-old who takes care of her brother basically single handed. Her friend is going to college and he promises to come back for her. The story provides a happy for now ending but it is an excerpt from a longer book.

I have not read the other stories but good cause and all that. I received a free copy of this story via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have read 4 short stories in this so far and it's absolutely amazing.
I read Fate by Sloane Nicole. Its a prequel to Antoinette's Fall which will make you want to read the next book.
I read Time To Grind by Skye Turner that is a prequel to Mason which hasn't been released yet and it was amazing. I can't wait for Mason.
I read The Flower by Skye Turner. It's a cute story that encourages you not to give up on your dreams.
I read Smoke and Mirrors which is a little extra story for Jude and Lexi in Alluring Turmoil (Bayou Stix series). It was great going back to one of my favorite series. Making me want to read it all over again.
Can't wait to read more stories from different authors

Sweet Sorrow - A Poem by Simone Leigh – 5***
I have never read this author's work prior to this poem. This Anthology is one that is close to my heart as my heritage is Ukrainian. This author captures the feelings of so many Ukrainians who refuse to lie down and surrender, whose hearts and souls refuse to separate from their heritage, from their culture, from their land.

Her One True Wish – by Heather Scarlett 4***
Sweet Introduction to a bigger story . ..
Her One True Wish is the prologue to Snowed in for a Second Chance. Here you meet Sarah and Griffin and see what started their relationship. It is sweet and leaves the reader wanting to read on to see their journey together.

This review is for Casualties of War.

This story was hair-raising and so incredible! My pulse was through the roof while I read, but the emotions that were artistically crammed into this small story really hit me in the chest. Anthologies are no joke for an author because you have limited space to make an impact and yet Casualties of War delivered. With all the pain in the world right now it’s important to keep it human. To hold onto our humanity. Stories like these remind us of the human condition.

Oddly enough, I went into this book a little blind about what each story was going to be about and I was blown away by the depth!

Five very well-deserved stars. I want more from this author and look forward to reading the rest of the anthology!

"Stand for Ukraine: A Charity Anthology from the New Romance Cafe" (Romance Cafe Collection Book 13) by a fantastic group of 120+ authors. I'm a fan of a few authors in this collection already and I'm looking forward to reading all the stories from the authors that are new to me. This is a great collection of short stories to benefit Save the Children's efforts in Ukraine.

"Smoke & Mirrors" (An Alluring Turmoil/Bayou Stix Short Story) by Skye Turner was a great, quick read. I loved this short story about Jude and Lexi. Highly recommend it to all fans of romance, rockstars, second chances, and series.

The Stand for Ukraine anthology is filled with a collection of stories inspired by the horrific events of February 2022, by a number of different authors. Stories full of hope and understanding for what the Ukrainian people are going through, with the proceeds going to Save the Children. There are tons of authors listed in this anthology, all giving their stories and poetry to help support Ukraine and especially the children. More authors than I have ever seen listed for a charity anthology, all drawn by the events happening in Europe!
The story I received and which I am reviewing is Her One True Wish by Heather Scarlett, part of the Stand for Ukraine anthology.
The book is a prologue to their novel, Snowed in for a Second Chance and features the main characters Sarah and Griffin, who meet as teenagers and shows a sweet moment from their past. It is set in a trailer park in Wildwood Falls, Montana, in 2011. Sarah is responsible for her younger brother, with a drug addict mother who has disappeared with her latest fling, leaving her trying to finish high school and also working to pay the bills and buy food. They live in a trailer which their grandmother has paid for, but doesn’t live close enough to help out any further. Griffin is her best friend and they spend a lot of time together, either at the trailer, or at his family’s home. He will be going off to college when they finish high school, but she will still have at least three more years before her brother is old enough to look after himself. They will be separated when this happens and Griffin wants to ensure that he makes his feelings plain to her and he sets out what he wants for them together. The story itself is extremely short and is just a taster of what is to come. There are difficult circumstances for the seventeen year old and a bit of romance at the end between the two best friends.
A book full of hope and stories to inspire, all for a wonderful cause that most of the world is trying to support. Millions have lost their homes and been displaced, losing everything. All any of the rest of us can do, is give any support we can, in any way we can. For those who love to read, this is just an easy way to donate and show that you care!
I received a copy of the short story Her One True Wish from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

I got to know of this anthology - 'Stand For Ukraine: A Charity Anthology from The New Romance Cafe (Romance Café Collection Book 13)'- thanks to author @aartivraman.

I read her story ' 'When Suraj Met Sia' in this anthology and loved it. Sia is so feisty while Suraj is getting over something. They are total strangers until they are thrown together in Rajasthan, India. Aarti's descriptions of Rajasthan coupled with the engaging dialogue and repartee made this an enjoyable read that had me smiling right through. It was definitely a feel-good read.

Her poem 'Sunflowers' is inspired by a video that went viral. It is hopeful and sends out positivity.

Now, that I have found this anthology on Kindle Unlimited, I look forward to reading the rest of the stories, too.

I would urge you to pick up a copy if you can since 100% of the proceeds of this anthology will go to 'Save the Children', a not-for-profit organization committed to providing education, physical, and mental support to the children of Ukraine.

While I haven't had the chance to read all of these stories, the ones I have read have been amazing. RJ Gray wrote an amazing story called Birthing Hope and I was floored by how much she packed into a very short story. I hope that one day, she will write a full story for her characters. Another one I enjoyed was Remy Reigns story, Hungry Eyes. Another story that I hope will get more added to it in the future. All of the stories I've read have been so beautiful and to be written in such a short time was great! I hope that everyone has bought this book and that you will enjoy the stories as much as I have!

The Stand for Ukraine anthology shows in amazing fashion what is possible when like-minded people come together. I'm still reading this fabulous collection of romance reads. I'll update this review as I keep on reading. Thus far, it's been a total treat.

#Duetthis by Eva Moore
Simply amazing. Evocative and fluid, Moore brings dance to life in times of lockdowns and isolation. A very beautiful and enchanting story about love across the distance that melts barriers and brings perfection with it.

In Case of Rain by Sharon A. Mitchell
Oh, this one was so cute! Gave me the warm and fuzzies.

Blame it on the Taco by Tasha Blythe
Favourite so far. Made me laugh! So hard. And a wonderful enemies-to-lovers short. Usually those don't work so well as a short story, but Blythe nailed this one. Sheer perfection.

Reunion Rendezvous by Cassie Simon
Sweet. This is such a charming story.

Time After Time by Kimberly Halstead
Sweet story, but definitely needs a thorough edit. This was like reading a rough draft.

Shut Up and Kiss Me by Lissa Lynn Thomas
So deeply emotional. Very well written and with a solid ending.

Snared: The Club Series by April D. Berry
An acceptable story, but didn't really do anything for me. The story was solid, but doesn't really have anything to make it stand out.

Love & Music by Maria Macdonald
This one felt like it should have done it for me, but for some reason, it didn't. There was something missing for me from this one, which is a sweet story about the protagonist finding her way during the illness of the most important person in her life, her grandfather.

Love Choice by Bria James
Short and sweet. A lovely story about new beginnings and that we have the power to choose what we leave behind and what we wish to work towards.

Friend Zone by Anna Volkin
Now this is how you write the friends-to-lovers trope. I'm still gobsmacked by how short and satisfying this story is! Brilliant work. Will definitely keep an eye on this author! 💕

Queen of Hearts by J.P. Uvalle
This one fell flat for me. It's too rushed and the segue from the drama to the love-making got my hackles up and raised a whole bunch of red flags.

The Little Things by Jenny Fenshaw
Short, sweet and with all the fuzzies. It's clean, which was a nice change and the tempo is totally different from the other stories so far. It's relaxed and nostalgic and gentle. Really enjoyable little snapshot from the life of a happily married couple.

When Suraj met Sia by Aarti V. Raman
Enjoyable story and a lovely lesson packed into it. I also really liked the change of scenery with the Indian setting. It's nice to have more diversity in anthologies of this type.

Relationship Reboot by Liz Martinson
I think the short story form doesn't do this story justice. If it were a novella with more time to get to know the characters and their backstory, it would have been brilliant. As it is, it's really rushed.

Strawberry Wine by Tracy Broemmer
The start to what could be a promising novel. Feels incomplete and totally didn't do it for me.

Glued to You by Jennifer M. Miller
Hilarious! And a great lesson on following instructions for the use of cosmetics. Better go on the date with less than perfect makeup than end up in hospital, is all I'm saying…

Her One True Wish by Heather Scarlett
A teaser for the author's main series. This one has a great set up. And the kiss? Oh, the kiss!

Lucky Number Seven by Karigan Hale
Intense insta-love. An enjoyable whirlwind with some well-placed tension and still totally clean. Really quite amazing. 😁

Country Tango by Renee Dahlia
More mature story and pleasantly surprising for it. Friends-to-lovers with the lovely backdrop of Australia and horses. I enjoyed this one a lot. Will be checking out the author's other works.

One Last Wish by Jo Seysener
Very different from the rest and also much maturer. The story is narrated in first person from the perspective of a military wife alone with her pregnancy and birth of her baby. There's a lovely surprise at the end. A well rounded story that I think could be expanded into a pretty great novella.

Loved by Them by Kristie Leigh
This is a sweet little interlude within the author's HEA from the preceding book. It's a cute story, but not really anything special.

ACED by M.A. Lee
A predictable enemies-to-lovers, which I think could be amazing if the characters are given. A little more time to grow on each other. As a novella, I think this could be a truly amazing story.

Zero Regrets by Andi Bale
A sweet snippet of the author's main couple's HEA as well as a very interesting "how they met" for a new couple. A fun read.

Time to Grind by Skye Turner
Prequel teasers like this one usually fall flat for me, but this one is actually good. It's hinting at a friends-to-lovers for the main story and sounds interesting enough.

Smoke and Mirrors by Skye Turner
Another prequel teaser. Not that great.

My Secret Patient by Pandora Snow
This is an interesting setup and one of the steamier stories so far in this collection. The age-gap dilemma is pretty well brought into play. Unfortunately, the resolution was a bit quick for my tastes. I think this short story could be expanded into a really, really good novella.

Her Escape by T. Wells Brown

Unexpected. Tantalizing. Predictable enough, so the shortness didn't detract from the story, and yet with enough of an unexpected twist that it was enjoyable. And definitely intriguing enough, with good enough characters for me to really want to read what's next for these characters.

Fight Like Hell by Tina Glasneck
A teaser about a couple fighting in a Dark Elf apocalypse. I wouldn't really classify it as romance. Didn't have any of the elements that make a story fit that genre. It's a good intro for dystopian fiction and/or action, possibly thriller.

The First Letter by Amanda Cuff
Very intense. Very short. And very intriguing. But it's not a teaser. This seems to be it. I've searched the author's page but these characters don't seem to feature in any of her other published works. Very sad, as it was an incredibly masterful hook.

A Charmed Life by Dakota Star
A bit rushed. I think a longer word count would do this story justice. Right now, there's little scope for soul searching, description and giving the experience the page time it deserves. It relies heavily on telling for this reason. If fleshed out, it could be really good.

A Fae's Promise by Rosie Wylie-Owen
Unexpected urban portal fantasy with fae. I really loved the tension in this one and am intrigued by the world-building to find out more. Less romance though, which was the only thing really lacking. It didn't give me any of the feels.

Sunflower of Hope by A McCarty
Has promise, but didn't do it for me at all. For some reason I shifted into skimming mode. I guess it must be something to do with the narrative style. Just not my thing.

The Queen's Secret by A.R. Bell
An interesting short historical romance set in a rather unusual time period and setting. Moldova in the 17th century is quite off my radar. Definitely perked my interest in the era and politics with Turkey.

Time… Was and Is and Shall Never be by Liz Martinson
So short and very unexpected. This tiny story blew me away. It's incredibly powerful, but also very sad.

Stuffed by Tanya Nellestein
Very short and rather silly story about a failure in the kitchen. It was a fun read though.

Last Dance by Suki McMinn
A nostalgic and heart wrenching story about the emotional toll of WWII. I really enjoyed this one. It's very deep and beautifully written.

Hungry Eyes by Remy Reigns
Best friend's brother trope done really well and with a shocker of a twist at the end. Great story.

Quilt Shop Quizzlers - On Pins and Needles by Cass K.
A very short, cosy mystery about a pair of missing knitting needles. There's no real romance in this one, just a grumpy neighbor with a grudge.

Foundling by N.J. Ember
Flash fiction and a little stream of consciousness. Interesting concept, but too short to form a proper opinion of the author's style.

Stand for Ukraine anthology is a jam-packed anthology full with multi-genre stories & poems with over 100 authors. All proceeds go to benefiting the children of Ukraine.

Overall, I give this anthology a 🌟🌟🌟🌟💫/5

There were so many stories, I did pick a few to add to this review.

One Last Wish by By Sofia Aves writing as Jo Seysener

🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

This was such a short, but very sweet story. In those few pages, I was literally about to cry. You felt the anxiety of her husband doing a tour and also the sweet relief of the main character when he comes home. Beautiful job!

Time To Grind (Sk8er Series Bonus Prequel Short Story) By Skye Turner

"Being in love with your best friend is bullsh*t."

🌟🌟🌟🌟💫/5

This is my first introduction to Sky Turner. She brings us a prequel of her upcoming book in the Sk8er series and I was hooked from the very beginning. I ship it soooo much. I quite enjoy the friends to lovers trope. I feel that in this upcoming book, there's going to be a lot of push and pull between Tana and Mason and I am so here for it! Definitely, putting this series on my TBR.

One A.M. by By Chele MacCabe

🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

Another new author to me and in only 6 pages, this was spicy and super sweet. I'm seriously wanting more!

Fate By Skye Turner writing as Sloane Nicole

🌟🌟🌟🌟/5

I'm from Louisiana (the New Orleans area). so, naturally, I'm very iffy about reading stories that are located there (don't know why, but I am lol). So when I read this prequel, I was going in with an open mind. It completely sucks you right in. The imagery, the connection between the two characters. These future books are definitely going to be so good!

Yay! Another friends to lovers. This one was a bit more emotional, you can just feel the love between these two. Loved it!

OMFG!!! This was amazing. Maybe I have a dark sense of humor, but I was imagining this all go down and it was glorious.

So, although it's not uncommon, you don't see many reverse age gaps often vs normal Older man/younger woman age gaps. This one, right here, was a breath of fresh air and man, was it steamy (and literally nothing happened) and deliciously forbidden. Not only that, C.A Rene is one one of my many favorite authors. I reeeally hope that there's a continuation of this story!

This was a tough one. I've personally never gone through this, but you felt the pain & sadness the narrator was going through.

A great collection of short heart warming stories. One of the stories within it was 'One Last Wish' by Sofia Aves - Lana's partner Derek has been deployed, and she is pregnant, will he make it home in time for the birth? I loved the feelings this quick story gives and how complete it felt. Another story is '#Duetthis' by Eva Moore - where two people with a passion for dancing connect, via technology, and they don't let anyone's ideas and labels kill their love of dance. I loved this uplifting romance, Helia's bravery to take the initial step and Andriy's initiative to do demos and short lessons to inspire others in the trying times people were going through. There are plenty of other gems to enjoy and warm your heart (with this big collection).

I received a free copy of this book via Sofia's Cowboy Romance Lovers and am voluntarily leaving a review.
