Well, it's a book on birds in VA. I like to drink my whiskey, smoke cigars and watch the "Sparrow Mafia" devour all the seed at my feeder...on occasion, a different feathered friend shows up and it's nice to have a handy source to figure out who it is.

Out of the bird guides that I've attempted to use, this has been easiest for me as a very bad birder :D

Tell Santa that you are getting into "birding" and Santa will leave you tons of goodies under the tree and in your stocking including this cute little book. In between putting things in and pulling things out of the oven for Christmas dinner I have been reading this book and watching my bird feeder. This book covers the most common 140 birds seen in Virginia (apparently they have a book for each state)and is the perfect place for this beginning birder to start identifying the birds that are found in my backyard. Perfect gift - Santa did well this year.

This a nice book for all ages. I bought it at the local bird boutique due to the owner's recommendation. The book is divided up into sections based on the bird's predominant color. Very good for those little ones that are interested in birding. My children are able to use this book with ease as they identify the birds in our garden.

I love this book because it focuses only on the most common birds in Virginia, which helped make it very easy for me to identify the ones we see all the time in our very own backyard. The photos are also very good and each page for the particular bird has a description of the male, female, juvenile, nesting habits and other interesting information.
