I’ll state again what I stated in my review of Stag because the darkness continues and it’s a lot.
Overall, my experience wasn’t as enjoyable with this book as it was with the previous but not because on content. Well, yes, content LOL but not the story! The problem is that for a good chunk of this story, especially at the beginning, the events are a recap of what we’ve already read in Stag, just in Effie & Mayhem’s point of view. That’s not a new concept and it’s also not a bad way to write a story at all, but this was just tedious for me. I felt like I had just read what was happening and it just sullied my overall like of this story overall.
Another huge struggle I had with this story was Mayhem. His actions and his words did not mesh at all. He told us a lot of things, but his actions did not speak, and I struggled a lot because Effie … man that chic deserved the moon and beyond and he just *sigh* I’ve never had this problem with a Brooke character before and I really don’t understand a majority of the choices she made for his character. It was very unappealing which made it really hard for me to root for him. *shrug* On the flip side of this, Effie didn’t always do the best she could, in my opinion, to understand the world that Mayhem lived in so if I’m being completely honest, it was really hard for me to root for them as a couple. I didn’t finish this story thinking they’d go till death do us part.
Anywho, these are my thoughts and as #twitchy as they seem, I’m still looking forward to a lot more from the Fury Vipers in the future.
Trust every single warning you read about triggers because they are there. I’d hate for a story to get negative reviews because a reader may not have known this or that about the plot. So, I’m screaming it now, HEED THE WARNINGS!

I am sad to say that I was so disappointed by this story. The beginning half could have been trimmed down so much more as it was basically a recap of book 1 from Mayhem and Effie's POV. However so many of the scenes and info were the same, so it just felt overly repetitive.
My second (and probably biggest) pet peeve with this story was fucking Benjamin, aka Mayhem. I have to say that he is the fucking worst MC hero I've ever read in regards to his attitude towards Effie, the woman he supposedly "loves" and "would do anything for". He just repeatedly pushes her away and truly doesn't seem to give a fuck about her happiness or safety, while claiming to be "possessive and protective" over her, which is just so opposite of typical MC heroes.
The best part of this story is hands down Octavia and Effie, especially their friendship. They were so supportive of each other and true support systems, and I just loved their relationship. Octavia is a complete badass, and I am so excited for her to put Digger in his place in their story next ♡

I didn't care for this story as much as the first one. I really struggled with the hero in this story, but still glad I read it as an integral part of the series and overarching storyline. Will definitely be reading the next book!

Mayhem and Effie

This was a tough book all the way around because Mayhem drove me crazy in a way but he thought he was doing what was right by Effie. After her close call he was bound and determined to keep her safe. Everyone knows life in the MC is dangerous. I felt for Effie for everything she has gone through and the way it feels like Mayhem is always breaking her heart.
This is a series I’m definitely going to keep following because I love this author’s writing style and I can’t wait for the next book to come out.

Overall I enjoyed it though it wasn’t my favorite couple dynamic. Tons of drama, heartache, betrayal, groveling, and much more. Very excited for the next brother’s story too. Does not start off where Stag ends. We get some backstory for the two of them the past 3 years first. It’s about half of the book. I was getting very annoyed with him like just tell her you hadn’t slept with another woman and make her yours. Men 🙄. It was a little repetitive in their relationship since their back and forth is the same every time and it took 3 years but was still good. I didn’t really like Effie very much though as an MC old lady during parts. Like yeah he treated her like crap but she also wasn’t understanding of him and the club at all. It was a very roller coaster ride for me of who’s side I was on 😂.

Mayhem by Brooke Summers is the second book in the Fury Vipers MC series and it revolves around childhood sweethearts Mayhem and Effie. I am a fan of MC novels, especially combined with second chance romance but though I still enjoyed reading Mayhem, there were many moments I wanted to kick him or shake him till he stops being a complete idiot to Effie. I realize that most of the decisions he makes are about protecting his girl but sometimes it seems as if the club takes precedence and Mayhem can’t comprehend the effects of his actions on Effie. Overall, it is a good, dark MC romance and it should be read to have the complete picture and sense of the Fury Vipers.

I loved Mayhem in the first book, in this one, not as much, why? Well, he kept going back on his word, and honestly? Effie was way more forgiving than I would have been. He claims he loves her, but then doesn't show her when she needs him, and continuously holds her at arm's length, yes, we know his reasoning, but they are simply not good enough.

I originally thought Effie was weak too but I really admired her inner strength and backbone in the end.
The differences between the two clubs is highlighted again, but even more so, by the facts that were reinforced in a slightly different way from book one but also revealing more snippets that filled in tiny missing puzzle pieces. A very clever writing method by this author.
With a truckload of drama and action, this book was never dull, the fast-paced storyline was exciting and entertaining. I am already looking forward to reading book three, Digger.

I'm not going to lie, I went back & forth about how I wanted to rate this story as I was very conflicted at the end of the day. However, Brooke Summers' writing style never fails to keep me engaged so despite the fact that I had major issues with Benjamin, aka Mayhem, I still read it in one sitting so here we are. See, Mayhem & Effie like seriously in love from a very young age, but like all of us at a young age, many mistakes were made which I could get past but when he keeps making the same d*mn mistake over & over again, well let's just say I wanted her brother to seriously harm him since I couldn't do it myself. His push & pull with I love her & won't stay away but I can't be with her got tired like you wouldn't believe, and I know the heart wants what the heart wants, but she needed to make him pay a lot longer in my eyes. The final nail in his coffin for me was brutal, and I was over him but again, the heart wants what the heart wants so it's a shame that we need that heart to live isn't it?! LOL! Effie's pain was so palpable that I was felt it deeply & am STILL upset with him, but that's the beauty of this author, I forgot it's a romance made up of fictitious characters because it felt so real to me so I stuck with the perfect rating & HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This was a hard one for me. I am normally a five star on all Brooke's books. We have Benji and Effie as the main HH and I really struggled with Benji. They have been in love since their teens, but he kept turning his back on her and choosing the club over her, to protect her. Effe was not my favorite Heroine. In the beginning she was a little to weak for Heroine but in the end she showed her strength. It didn't start where Stag ended and half the book was the back story. There was great Character development and side characters. Can not wait for Diggers book! This book had alot of drama and action with twists, revenge, and love. The story was fast paced. Brooke writing is phenomenal, I just had a hard time with these Characters. Give it a chance because her series never disappoint and can't wait for the next one!

First heed the trigger warnings. They are there for a reason. I loved and hated Mayhem at the same time. So many times I wanted to hit him over the head and sometimes he was such a sweetheart. Most definitely an alpha protector of Effie. Effie was one strong strong woman. What all she went through was hell on earth but with a lot of inner strength she prevailed. Loved Octavia she was a fierce protector of her friends and she wouldn't let anyone get by with hurting them. I loved that regardless of how many times Benji left Effie or let her down she never stopped loving or taking him back until she couldn't take it anymore and left him for good. Did he redeem himself, lets just say I love happy endings. Phenomenal story and as always with this author I loved the side characters. They definitely play a major roll in these stories. Highly recommend this book.

What Effie went through was just horrific! These Viper women have been through so much and they are so strong! I was so happy that even though Mayhem let her down, Effie had her ride or die, Octavia. I loved Tavia so much!
The book's timetable is before, during, and after Stag so if you've read it great but if not (you need to!) you'll get the highlights so you won't be lost. Of course there's a nugget of what comes next and let me just say it was explosive! I can't wait!

When Effie is shot from a drive by Mayhem is born and Benji gets it in his head that he needs to leave her alone to protect her but he can't, each time he tries to go to her Jaws tells him to leave her alone. Years of this and Effie has had enough, she loves him but each time he shows up then leaves, breaks her that little but more.
If you've read Stag then you know a little behind the scenes, this story enhances it and we see the struggle both Mayhem and Effie have to deal with as well as a heck of a lot more. Couldn’t put this amazing story down and I can't wait for Diggers story.

Wow where so I start? Mayhem is just what his name says. Though through pure stupidity & manipulation he hurts the woman who is his heart. He evokes so many emotions as i read, from cursing him to rooting for him. Efi is just a woman so broken but yet so so strong. Her battle breaks my heart..their journey made me sad & smile as they work towards their HEA. Throw together the drama of club, betrayal & revenge, its a damn good read!.

Over and over he used the words but his actions didn't prove them true. There is danger, a very dark story with so much pain that parts were hard to read. To be honest I didn't believe she would continue to react the way she did. Luckily even with all the pain and suffering as promised, they find their way...but will it be together? Will they both live to find a future?
The characters from the club were loyal, the ole ladies supportive, as long as dark MC books are your thing this is for you.

Effie and Mayhem are back and forth. He just can't seem to stop messing up and she let him come back way longer than I would have. He wanted her but pushed her away, but would not let her go. He really needed to get his head out of his butt and grow a pair. He is a prospect about to be patched in but was on the fence on letting her go or make her his completely. Anyway although it was not my favorite I still enjoyed reading it.

This was yet another page turning read from this talented author and yet again I was transfixed from cover to cover, unable to look away once I started.
There was a lot of growth done in this book, but does it happen before it's too late?
Or is it too little too late either literally or figuratively?
This book will have you madly turning pages while on the edge of your seat, packed full of suspense, so as always with this author, I definitely recommend.

This book had me so angry at Mayhem for a long time. But it had me keep reading to know what will happen. I couldn't put book down once started.
I liked Effie and Mayhem together in the end. But they had to go through a lot. We learn what happens between them. Mayhem has a lot to make up for.
I won't give anything away.

Mayhem needs to keep Effie safe but in order to do that he needs to leave the Benji side of him locked away
Effie loves Benji but is seeing more of the Mayhem part of him and its causing problems between them.
The life of the Mc isn't easy and testing times are ahead.
A lovely series with great characters and I'm looking forward to reading more about them.

Effiemia and Mayhem have a difficult past, but they never stop loving one another. Mayhem works hard to make better choices and win Effie's trust back. Lots of danger and suspense. I was riveted to the end.

This is the second book in the Fury Vipers MC series and whilst technically you could read it as a stand-alone I wouldn’t recommend it. Rather read Stag first as this will help make sense of the whole MC dynamic and backstory. Also heed the trigger warnings they are there for a reason.
Wow well I have been counting down the days to this book and on the whole it didn’t disappoint. Brooke Summers excels at writing a thoroughly engrossing story that you can get lost in. And boy did I get lost in it…who needs sleep. I won’t lie I did struggle with the book initially, I’d say a good portion (nearly half the book) was basically a flashback of the previous three years from Mayhem and Effie’s point of view. Whilst I’m all for backstory I do feel this could have been condensed and the storyline moved forward.
This story delves into the history of Benjamin (Mayhem) and Effimia (Effi/Mia) and takes place before and after Stag. This is a story of young love but also of missed opportunities and malign influences trying took keep the young lovers apart.
It’s clear that Mayhem and Effie love each other and the chemistry between them is off the charts but that alone can’t keep a healthy relationship together for long. Both have had really messed up childhoods and when Benji tries to extricate himself from a street gang Effie is the one who ends up hurt. Mayhem is born when Benji gets his revenge on the gang. To keep Effie safe Mayhem steps back but he can never ever let go.
I really felt for Effie, all she wanted was to come first even just one time with her Benjamin but no he joined an MC and his brothers are his priority. Leaving her to deal with the mess of her own family, dealing with her grief and having to pull herself up from the lowest point in her life.
At times their relationship seemed quite toxic, it’s fair to say whilst Mayhem is all about protecting the people he loves Effie gets the raw end of the deal. Every.Single. Time. Even when she’s taken by their enemies ultimately it’s up to Effie to save herself as Mayhem doesn’t even realise she’s missing. What Effie went through was horrific but I loved she always had her girl Octavia (Tavi) who always had her back and vice versa.
I really wanted to give Mayhem a whack on the head, he lets other people mess with his head and try to put distance between him and Effie. All because Effie found something out she shouldn’t have.
All in all this was a fast paced, engrossing story, whilst she had her troubles I loved how strong Effie was. While it’s clear she never stopped loving her Benji Effie struggled with being second place where Mayhem was concerned and had the strength to say enough is enough. The realisation that he was both Benji and Mayhem to those he was close to in the MC was heartbreaking for Effie. She could justify his behaviour as she classed him as two different characters but to know he gave both sides of himself to his brothers and Kinsley was a devastating revelation.
How does Mayhem come back from this, he put his trust in the wrong person and let them come between him and Effie. There is a depth to all of the characters, Mayhem is a very flawed individual who tries his best but boy does he make mistakes. The back and forth between him and Effie can be difficult but relationships are messy and I love how true to life this is.
There are revelations about family as well as more of Jaws secrets are coming to light and you see how this can affect all of the characters and impact on the MC. Ultimately despite a shaky start I loved his book and can’t wait for Digger and Tavi’s story, it’s going to be a long few months.

Wow well I have been counting down the days to this book and on the whole it didn’t disappoint. Brooke Summers excels at writing a thoroughly engrossing story that you can get lost in. And boy did I get lost in it…who needs sleep. I won’t lie I did struggle with the book initially, I’d say a good portion (nearly half the book) was basically a flashback of the previous three years from Mayhem and Effie’s point of view. Whilst I’m all for backstory I do feel this could have been condensed and the storyline moved forward.
This story delves into the history of Benjamin (Mayhem) and Effimia (Effi/Mia) and takes place before and after Stag. This is a story of young love but also of missed opportunities and malign influences trying took keep the young lovers apart.
It’s clear that Mayhem and Effie love each other and the chemistry between them is off the charts but that alone can’t keep a healthy relationship together for long. Both have had really messed up childhoods and when Benji tries to extricate himself from a street gang Effie is the one who ends up hurt. Mayhem is born when Benji gets his revenge on the gang. To keep Effie safe Mayhem steps back but he can never ever let go.
I really felt for Effie, all she wanted was to come first even just one time with her Benjamin but no he joined an MC and his brothers are his priority. Leaving her to deal with the mess of her own family, dealing with her grief and having to pull herself up from the lowest point in her life.
At times their relationship seemed quite toxic, it’s fair to say whilst Mayhem is all about protecting the people he loves Effie gets the raw end of the deal. Every.Single. Time. Even when she’s taken by their enemies ultimately it’s up to Effie to save herself as Mayhem doesn’t even realise she’s missing. What Effie went through was horrific but I loved she always had her girl Octavia (Tavi) who always had her back and vice versa.
I really wanted to give Mayhem a whack on the head, he lets other people mess with his head and try to put distance between him and Effie. All because Effie found something out she shouldn’t have.
All in all this was a fast paced, engrossing story, whilst she had her troubles I loved how strong Effie was. While it’s clear she never stopped loving her Benji Effie struggled with being second place where Mayhem was concerned and had the strength to say enough is enough. The realisation that he was both Benji and Mayhem to those he was close to in the MC was heartbreaking for Effie. She could justify his behaviour as she classed him as two different characters but to know he gave both sides of himself to his brothers and Kinsley was a devastating revelation.
How does Mayhem come back from this, he put his trust in the wrong person and let them come between him and Effie. I mean i was so angry at him I laid the book down Had to calm my shot nerves for a good while and then come back to it. I swear you would think I am Effie and the one who was just wronged and had to deal with how Mayhem is acting. But isn't that what good reading is all about? I don't really need to get into the story because there is a lot that goes on and I'm afraid I might type out a spoiler not meaning to. The main thing I thought of was how much I wanted to strangle the man. But there is growth and things will seem different to you but man he was one character that really just made all the emotions come out of me for some reason!! The book overall is really really good. I am so glad that I read it. I am loving this series so far and can not wait to get my greedy little hands on the next one.

Holy crap! Summers had me going with this one. I'd have to put down the book, take a deep breath, then start reading again. It has been a long time since an Author had me reacting that way. I really, really, really loved this book, and I recommend to all readers.

Tout le long de ce roman, on suit leur histoire, leur drame, de mois en mois, de semaines en semaines. Ils s'aiment mais la vie vous amène à changer. Mayhem intègre le MC et il devient de moins en moins présent pour elle, le club passe avant elle, des jours et des semaines sans nouvelles. Etre la femme d'un MC n'est pas de tout repos. Elle sait qu'elle mérite mieux, elle a beau mettre de la distance entre eux, rien n'y fait. Elle l'aime mais il faut qu'il change, qu'il prouve qu'elle passe avant tout.
Or, entre la taupe, les guerres entre bikers, les histoires de vengeance, sa vie n'est pas de tout repos. Et il ne pourra pas la protéger éternellement.
Eff peut compter sur sa meilleure amie Tavia. Elle connait le monde des MC, elle connait le gout du sang, elle a perdu sa mère, mais elle pensait qu'elle représentait plus que ça pour Benji. This is the second book in the Fury Vipers MC series. Mayhem (Benji) has known his girlfriend Effiemia since he was 10 & she was eight. The story starts when they are 22 & 20, and it’s a heck of a start. The story takes place three years later, and the first part of the book, building to the present day, moved slowly for me. The on & off relationship of Effie & May, who are moving into young adulthood following a major traumatic event felt drawn out—I had trouble connecting to both of the characters, they were so disconnected & lost. Finally, the story comes to the present and I feel that connection build. The plot was intense & engaging, I love the twists & betrayal. I want to know why didn’t they know about each other’s pasts, given they’d grown up together. The story in the present saved the book for me, despite the slow start.

Okay, so the first thing I want to say is HEED THE TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE YOU READ THIS. This book is extremely dark, and certain people may take offense or be triggered by the content in this book. Second of all, while I loved the first book in this series, this one didn’t sit as well with me. It wasn’t because of the dark content, more because I found it hard to relate to/root for Mayhem himself. I just felt like he made promise after promise to Effie but didn’t actually follow through, and therefore, she had a right to be upset with him. I also didn’t like Effie all that much, I thought she was a bit of a wallflower type. All in all, I rate this a solid 3.5 stars.

Mayhem is book two in the Viper M.C Series and this story focuses on Effie and Benji a.k.a Mayhem and focuses on their struggles of bring young and in love with the dark side of being involved with a motorcycle club and how it puts the ones you love in direct danger of rival clubs when Effie is severely injured it causes chaos and Benji pulls away from his relationship but not his love without realising the impact its causing his girl.
Ef is an incredibly strong and resilient character especially when she needs to be! It sometimes feels like she's just surviving because of Benji and his commitment to his biker family I'm so glad she has her best friend Tavia she has a huge impact on both characters and their relationship and definitely makes Benji realise what he's losing! But will it be too late?
A dark, powerful storyline with lots of blood, death and heartache I really enjoyed it and it kept me captivated.
I'm loving Brooke Summers books definitely one of my favourite authors.
