Valkyrie 101:
Valkyrie 101 is an interesting and original storyline. This author has created an amazing world filled with intriguing characters and a story that pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat. Ylva wants to become a Valkyrie and she gets her chance once she's enrolled at the Afterlife Academy. This paranormal story is filled with drama, mystery, action, rivalries, suspense, new friendships and so much more. I can't wait to read the next book to find out what happens next.
Valkyrie 102:
In Valkyrie 102 Ylva's journey continues as she finds out more about herself and what her life will be like as a Valkyrie. This paranormal story is filled with drama, action, mystery, suspense, secrets, twists and turns and so much more. This author has created an amazing world filled with intriguing characters and a story that pulled me in and had me flipping through the pages to find out what would happen next. I can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Valkyrie 103:
Ylva's journey continues and she's as determined as ever to figure out about herself. This author has created an amazing paranormal world filled with drama, mystery, action, suspense and twists that kept me turning the pages. Even though we got some questions answered this book ends in a cliffhanger and now I anxiously await the next book in this series.
Valkyrie 104:
Ylva's journey continues in The War of Souls. This book picks up where the last book left off and as always with this author once I start reading one of her books I don't stop until the last page. The author has created a magical paranormal world filled with mystery, action, suspense, intrigue and twists that pulled me into the story anxious to find out what would happen next. This book ends in a cliffhanger leaving me wanting the next book asap.

Overall 3.5 stars!!!
I love reading books set in academies, especially when they are books that have fantasy, so I was very excited to read this series. I have never read anything with valkyries before so this boxset was interesting to say the least.
I confess that when I started reading the first book in the boxset I wasn't feeling very involved, mainly because the main character (Ylva) in the first books treats those who are different in a very prejudiced way. But the more I read, the more involved I became until I found myself involved in a way that I couldn't stop reading. The romance is very cute, Kyoko is a very endearing character and the interactions of the two are quite heart melting. I was also quite surprised by how the character who is supposed to be the queen bee of the valkyries (Flavia) is quite nice to the protagonist.
We also have a dust bunny and dust wolves, which makes the story even more enjoyable.
It is possible to see throughout the books an evolution of the protagonist, although in the last book she still has some prejudiced attitudes towards some characters, namely a girl who is also studying with her to be a valkyrie, but unlike the others she is not a wind child, but an elf. Also the evolution of the protagonist with her powers is visible.
In between, a murder happens, of which the author has yet to be unravelled.
I think my favorite book was the 3rd, and the one I liked least was the 1st.
The 4th book ends on a cliffhanger, so I am very curious to know what will happen next!

World-building: The Afterlife Academy is a fascinating concept, a place where paranormals learn to guide souls to the afterlife. The descriptions of this world are vivid and imaginative, bringing the academy and its surroundings to life.

Magic: The magic system is well-defined and intriguing, with different types of magic users and abilities. Ylva's rare Shadow Walker abilities add an extra layer of complexity and excitement to the story.

Lineage: Ylva's lineage plays a significant role in the story, adding depth to her character and her journey. The connections to Norse mythology and the Valkyries are well-integrated and add a sense of history and tradition to the world.

Species: The variety of species in the Afterlife Academy is impressive, from dusk wolves ( I adore them, and the dialogues) to other paranormals, each with their own unique characteristics and abilities. This diversity adds to the richness of the world and creates interesting dynamics between the characters. Beyond the more common paranormals, the glimpses of other species are truly captivating. The dragons, ancient and majestic, exude an aura of power and wisdom, their presence adding a touch of mythical grandeur to the world. The wood elves, with their connection to nature and ethereal beauty, bring a sense of grace and tranquility. These glimpses into the diverse species inhabiting this world truly enhance the overall reading experience.

Relationships: The relationships between the characters are complex and well-developed. Ylva's friendships, rivalries, and romantic interests are all compelling and add emotional depth to the story. The slow-burn f/f romance is particularly well-done, with a believable and engaging dynamic between Ylva and her love interest.

Overall, "Quest of the Valkyrie" is a fantastic series that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. The combination of a well-built world, interesting magic system, diverse characters, and intricate relationships makes it a must-read for fans of urban fantasy.

Arizona come with her delicate, page-tuner writing and we can see her love of animals in this book too. I learned love her books. When I start reading one of her books, I can't stop. I have to control myself or my eyes will complain. :D
Here she tell us the story of Ylva, a wind child with a dream to become a Valkyrie of valhala and wants serve Odin.
She is going to academy and there are more different species (with different cultures) learning how become a afterlife server.
But the life in academy isn't easy. And Ylva will suffer bullying, false accusations and more. She discover something about her, and it brings a lot of danger to her and for those are near her.
I really recommend, this book for all who loves a good story. :)

This is a collection of the first four books in the series which gives you a solid start on the series. The stories feature an interesting blend of elements with urban fantasy as a base. They are well written and the author blends the various elements into a fast paced story that kept me engaged and turning pages. The plots tend to have lots of twists and turns which keep you guessing and the action fresh. I think the best part to me, however, is that the characters continue to grow and develop, so we don't get just a repeat of events from previous stories. They certainly make new mistakes, but that too is part of learning. With four books in the collection, you get roughly half of the overall series in one convenient package. Overall, a highly enjoyable read.

Highly recommended.

The reader is asked to join Ylva on her quest to become a Valkyrie. She gets her chance when she is enrolled in the Afterlife Academy. She is also learning how to take care of her new dusk wolf. Finding that she is a Shadow Walker, the danger increases exponentially. Is there anyone she can trust? Or are they all out to steal her magic in whatever way they can?

And there will be cliffhangers, which don’t hurt as much when the first 4 of the books are bundled together for you. These should keep the reader busy with all of the action and suspense. Enjoy!

This was an interesting and compelling story, fast paced with some intriguing concepts and so many twists and turns I nearly got whiplash!
Ylva is an interesting character but I didn't like her to start off with but I started to understand her more as the story developed but I still didn't feel very connected to her. Discovered didn't stop me enjoying the 4 books and I will definitely read more of this series.

This was an interesting and compelling story, a real page tuner, fast paced with some intriguing concepts and lots of twists and turns.
Ylva is an interesting character who goes to the academy and gets to know more different species (with different cultures) and learn how to become a server of the afterlife. That brings a lot of danger to her and for those are near her.
I really enjoyed these four books and I will definitely read more of this series.

This was a fun, interesting set of books with drama, suspense, fun characters, and all the angst of any HS craziness. Only difference is that we are dealing with the supernatural world and everyone who thinks they know where they belong, yet there are some who believe they are to go another way.
So much going on and of course...cliffhanger! Ugh! LOL
Overall a very good set of 4 books that continues on the next sets of books. Good fun! On to the next! #HappyReading 💖

We have a lot of drama. We have action, suspense, and of course some twist along the way. Ylva who wats to be a Valkyrie and gets her chance at Afterlife Academy. Follow the characters in the book as you sit hoping for the best for Ylva. Can she find people to trust, or will they all take from her. So follow her journey as she discovers new people and herself. Oh, yes there is a cliffhanger at the end of all the books. Now we wait for the next book.

Took me a little while to get through this. I loved it though. The characters are likable, and story is great. I love the dust bunny, he sounds amazing, I want one. Flavia sounds like the kind of leader I would want....or want to be. This is a great book or 4 books, can't wait to see what happens next.

One of Tape's better series -- I read this set straight through in one sitting -- can't wait to read the second set! Tape's creativity and ability to write magical/paranormal worlds filled with mystery/suspense/intrigue and likeable characters who develop naturally over the series.

Fast pace with sudden turns

I read the series here in two days. Really enjoyed it. I like the characters and relatable teenage angst. I gotta finish the series!
