Jasmine Anderson, the firstborn grandchild of Billionaire Joseph Anderson, is determined to make it on her own. She never minded living under the protective umbrella of her family as a child, and even through college it wasn't so bad, but when she decided that her life was meant to serve her community and country in the FBI she knew it was time to cut the protective stings which were going to make some people very upset, including good-ole-gramps.
Fresh out of the Academy, and ready to take down any criminal who gets in her way, Jasmine doesn't fully understand how much these criminals will fight back. When multiple men begin shooting at her, she begins to understand the incredible difficulty her career choice will be to her new independence and those who love her. The men and women of the underground world are devious and willing to do just about anything not to be caught, especially by those in the hairs of the FBI.
Even when Jasmine isn’t in danger, the past protections she was trying to escape from come to interfere in her first-ever operation and almost get one of her best friends riddled with holes from Jasmine’s FBI team. Will she ever be allowed to do the job she feels she was born to do without the Anderson’s fingers finding their way into every aspect of her life?
Join Jasmine Anderson, her FBI partner, Hunter Sparks, one of Jasmine’s best friends, Ember Lennox, and doctor Mora Perez on a brand-new series of underground crime, overt deception, drug addiction, insidious abuse, murderous villains, amazing partners and friends, and the type of sexual chemistry only Miami can bring.

Ok, so this was totally unexpected and I’m trying to wrap my head around it. Definitely not the “typical” Anderson story so I believe those are a thing of the past. So we have 4 players, 3 plots that are probably ultimately connected, and the potential for 0 romance. How do I feel about this? I’m honestly not sure. I like the story, am confused because there is an overall lack of “love” in the book, and wondering if the future books will be all character inclusive. Jazzy was always going to need something different but I wasn’t expecting what I just read. I’m loving Mora and Ember and I have hopes that Hunter will break free of his man-child thought patterns…unless that’s normal (not a guy so I don’t know). Do I hate it…no. Do I love it…not right now but I’m mulling it over. Am I along for the ride…absolutely! Now that I finished the book I can definitely appreciate breaking the “Anderson mold” and writing a book that remains true to the Anne/Henley collaboration (please keep this trend). I think I have adjusted my expectations for the future books appropriately and I am looking forward to the next book!
Loved this book, especially the banter and kick ass characters. The only thing I didn't like was all the "self" conversations between real conversations. I'd still give it a good A!
This has been on my Kindle list for awhile and I'm sooo glad I finally got around to starting this series. I see big things happening for Jazzy's FBI career and that Ember is right along in the thick of it. So glad the Special Ops guys are in on the action, how could they not? I'm always disappointed though at what little mention is made to Jasmine's parents. Her dad is the eldest Anderson son for goodness sakes. I know the man has to be busy but it always seems like Jaz was raised by the Ops guys. Just an observation. Loved this story and knew I would and excuse me while I get on with #2!
well.. If you loved the Anderson and the Special Ops Series. You are going to love what Melody Anne and John Henley are creating here. Book one.. Has a fantastic plot, with cameos from Brackish, Smoke and Green and the clan of Anderson. Little Jasmine Anderson is not so little anymore. She's out to prove she can be the best FBI Special Agent. Uprooted from Seattle to Miami and on her own. This Series will be a hit and you will be begin for more. Well done
Melody Anne is one of my favorite authors and the books she has been adding to the Andersons with John Henley are insightful, exciting and great reading. I can't wait for the next installment.
Please please continue more adventures with Jasmine and her friends. Could not put the book down. Needed to find out what was coming next. so many questions that need answered. Ahhh I don't like puzzles left unsolved. I enjoyed this story so much. Smoke getting the wrath of Jasmine was priceless. The celebration of Jasmine's kicking butt was insane! I was on the edge of my seat with worry! So many good things I enjoyed about the story but so many questions I need answered. I hope I don't have to wait a year for those answers. Love love the direction you went with this story but need more answers!
Not her usual romance but we'll see where the next book goes. The story is pretty good and follows 4 characters. I love the Anderson and have to continue to read to see where life takes Jaz.
Oh wow Melody and John. What a fantastic book. I love how the special Ops guys are here for Jazz when she needs them. I look forward to more in this series.
Read The Andersons Special Ops books first to really understand about Jasmine and Get special friends. But if you read this book as a stand-alone we have four new characters and a few old friends. This is not just romance but a decent story line too. Yes things get exaggerated, but there is fun and humour too. I really enjoyed this read and look forward to seeing how things pan out. Nice one Melody Ann and John Henley.
This story intrigued me because of the previous characters that I have come to love. I still don't know how I feel about four characters at once having their stories told simultaneously. The concept is different for me. This is why I rated this 3.5 stars. I will still purchase the next two stories, because I want to see where the series will go. I love the Anderson's and the whole military gang. Jasmine was who I was following.
I was so excited to get Jasmine’s story. Loved how fierce she is and gets into the F.B.I. Loved getting updates from prior characters. The story ends in a cliffhanger and it’s not really a romance. I’m hoping Jasmine and Hunter become an item in the next book. I can’t wait for it.
A story starting with the eldest Anderson grandchild. Jasmine is now an FBI agent, out to protect, prove herself as an agent. She and her friends are going to make their mark, Hunter another agent is realizing she is a force to be reckoned with. This story is exciting, intense, full of adventure, and people with secrets. I cannot wait for the next book to be out.
Being the first book in this series make it a good read and make it so you want to go to the next book in this series. The main characters in this book were a little to over the top to be believable (for this poor girl😁 reader) but I am still eager to read the next book in this series!
Okay, I've got "one too many questions". Will Jazzie and Hunter crack the case, find each other, work with the special ops guys, what story will Ember write, who is Mark?...and how does Mora and Mrs. Santos make a difference in this convoluted tale. I can't wait to find out!
This is the 1st book in the series and it didn’t disappoint. It’s a page turner, I couldn’t put it down and I read it in one sitting. The characters and the plot was very well written. My favorite family is back, the Anderson’s, little Jasmine is grown up and is a FBI agent. This story is an introduction to her life as well as the people she interacts with. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
Can’t wait to get more on all the characters we’ve met so far I enjoy all the older characters still being involved and interfering. I’m looking forward to the next book.
I was so excited to read Jazzy's book, and it did not disappoint!!! Has enough action and laughs, I am looking forward to seeing how this series unfolds!!!
This was fun, thrilling and exciting. Jasmine is now FBI, trying to be independent from her family, making new friends and has back up, whether she wants it or not, from her Spec Ops buddies.
I like a good intelligent mystery, and this story had all of the qualities to fit that bill. I especially enjoy sassy smart women who own their badassery. I will be back for round two for sure.
So far so good, something different and new storyline that I haven't read before. I like the suspenseful mystery of the characters and seeing where my vision take me when I imagine the scenarios.
One Too Many is book 1 in the Truth In Lies Series by Melody Anne and John Henley and is Jasmine Anderson’s story. Jasmine is the granddaughter of the famous Joseph Anderson series by Melody Anne. Moving away from her overprotective family, Jasmine joins the FBI and is stationed in Florida and is loving her life. Her partner is, Hunter Sparks and they seem to hit it off pretty well at work. Jasmine’s friend from Seattle moves to Florida after she suspects someone bad is after her, but that another story. Jasmine and Hunter along with the FBI team go after some bad guys and there are still a lot of questions to be answered and mysteries to be solved.
While I really enjoyed this story and as it is a cliffhanger, I anxiously await the next book to find out more of Jasmine and Hunter’s adventures with the FBI. The book is well written, the plot is good and flows well, has great characters and some fun and laughter. There is no romance in this story and I missed that within this book. I’m not sure if Jasmine gets a HEA at some point or if all the books in this series will be more mystery/crime related. With that all said it is a good read which I enjoyed and will definitely look for book 2.
