Christianity is a soul and spirit issue. The writer of Hebrews stated clearly that, “…the word of God is alive and powerful… cutting between soul and spirit… it exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.” In his letter to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul reminded us that, “A person’s selfish desires are set against the Spirit, and the Spirit is set against one’s selfish desires. They are opposed to each other…” Being conformed to the image of Christ requires a process of breaking us from our independent control issues and teaching us to rely on the guidance of our Father through His indwelling Spirit — the only one who always knows what is best for us.
