Doused to Death #4
Eau De Death
Nati is living her dream in the City of Love. She’s a blossoming leader in the perfumery world, her boyfriend Owen is by her side and even her dog Sal is feeling the love.
But things take a turn at her birthday party. She’s celebrating her fortieth on a river cruise down the Seine when one of the guests, who also happens to be a big name in perfumery, drowns. If that wasn't bad enough Nati's ex-husband of all people is the top suspect.
Will Nati find the real killer so she can properly enjoy her time in the spotlight, or worse yet, will she discover that her ex-husband is not only a cheater, but also a murderer?

Another wonderful mystery from Langley Gray! I love the "Doused to Death" series! This is book 4 on the series and can be read as a standalone.
Nati Butler is back and this time she's in Paris. Nati and her boyfriend, Owen are in Paris for a perfume creators awards show. It also happens to be Natis 40th birthday. Her birthday will be celebrated on a romantic river cruise. Unfortunately her birthday celebration is interrupted when there is a death on the cruise. A renowned perfume creator is found dead in the water, apparently thrown overboard. Natis ex-husband is on the cruise( (youll have to read the book as to why he is there) and as he was seen fighting with the deceased, he's an immediate suspect. Nati of course, is on the case, along with her boyfriend Owen and her little dog, Sal. Can Nati solve this case before she has to leave Paris?
The things I like the most about these books are the characters. I love the dynamic between Nati and Owen. I am really rooting for them to get married, and it was hinted this book that kids might be in the cards too! Nati is gaining more and more success with her perfume career, and you can really tell the author does her research in that department. The chapters are short, which I love and the pacing is perfect. This book can be read in one afternoon. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series. I received this book free from Booksirens for an honest review.

I've been lucky to have been able to read all parts of this series as an ARC as I am a big fan of it! So Thanks Booksirens and Langley Gray for allowing me to read this one as well!
I can be very short, I loved this part!! I've read it in two evenings, but if I had read in the day, I would have eaten it up in one day. This time Nati goes to Paris, together with boyfriend Owen and dog Sal, for a perfume creators awards show. At the same time it's Nati 40th birthday and Owen has special things planned, one of them a boat ride on the Seine with close friends. The boat ride ends badly when they find a guest is missing and found dead in the water. Nati's Ex Husband is also on the cruise with his girlfriend and comes under the suspicion of killing the guest, a renowned perfume creator, as he was flirting with his girlfriend. On Nati the job to clear her ex husbands name and find the real killer.
I pretty quickly figured out the killer, but that was okay as this book is just filled with action, mystery and not forgetting the fantastically written and lovable characters. Especially Sal!! You can read this book stand alone, but honestly, the whole series is great, the books are a quick read, so just read the whole series!!! Highly recommended!

Eau De Death is Book 4 in the Doused to Death Series by one of my favorite authors, Langley Gray. Nati, Owen and Sal are in Paris where Nati is taking part in a perfume panel. In the city of love, the last thing that Nati wants is for her cheating ex-husband, Garret, and his girlfriend that he left her for, Aniston, to show up in Paris too. Nati must have bad luck because they are here too! I believe Eau De Death might be my favorite book in the series. Nati is turning 40 and she is having a fabulous birthday party on a boat. When a murder happens at her party and Garret is arrested, Nati jumps in to catch the kilker. There is plenty of action, mystery, great characters, and romance. Eau De Death is the perfect way to spend the afternoon reading. I received an arc for free and am leaving my review voluntarily.

After reading ‘not so innoscent’ last month I thought a cosy mystery break was in order. I enjoyed it so much and wanted to stay on the high a little bit longer. Fastforward a week and I come across this one, and out went my restraint. Eau the death was again a superfun quick cosy mystery with all the right vibes. The characters are fun, recognizable and intriguing and some details from the previous story are picked up again without making it so deep you HAVE to have read the others in this series. I’m seriously in love with the personal growth of our main characters in this series and love finding out who the bad guy is together with them!

A Murderer on the Loose . . .
There is so much going on in this story line that the reader will need a score card! Even the dogs get into the action! Nati is in Paris for a perfume competition. She is accompanied by her boyfriend, Owen, and her dog, Sal.
Owen arranges to celebrate Nati’s birthday on a river cruise when one of the guests, Jean Marc Bernard, also involved in perfumes and one of the judges, ends up overboard and drowns. Nati's ex-husband Garret, who is there with his girlfriend Aniston, is arrested. Is he really a murderer? Nati is ready to search for the real murderer and clear his name. Will things settle down so she and Owen can enjoy their trip? The twists and turns will keep your head spinning!

Langley Gray traveled around the world and was lucky enough to marry her own leading man. Three kids and a house in the suburbs later, she decided to add some adventure back into #thatminivanlife by pursuing her dream of writing fiction. She draws on her degree in psychology to shape (read: torture) her characters and is a ghostwriter for cozy mysteries and children's books on the side.
“I wondered how this delicate dance would end.”
Nati, Owen, and Sal are in Paris for the biggest perfume convention in the world. Nati is excited to reconnect with her friends from perfumery school and see Fleur and baby Corbin. Nati is also celebrating a milestone birthday in the most romantic city. Everything is going better than expected- until it isn’t. Now Nati and her unlikely band of friends have to figure out what happened before it’s too late.
This was such a sweet installation in this series! I am loving the development of Owen and Nati’s relationship, especially after this book!
It was great getting to revisit some precious characters while meeting some new ones. There’s a major plot twist early in the book that made my jaw drop! But I loved where that led the storyline.
I appreciated how this book focused less on Nati as a perfume genius and more on Nati, the woman. She has some beautiful moments with herself, where she truly realizes what she wants for herself and her future.
I loved Owen’s enthusiasm for Utopian Park. He turns into such a fangirl, and it is adorable. I love how Owen isn’t afraid to be who he is in every situation. He had some fantastic scenes in this book; Paris worked its magic on him.
The pace was quick, but there was the perfect mix of humor, drama, sass, and of course, romance. The balance never swayed one direction too long, and the plot carried the same heartwarming charm we have grown to love with this series.
Sal is his usual self in Paris until he meets Boo. Possibly this cutest side story ever. Pup romance, queue my heart exploding!
I love the growth Nati has gone through. She is such a different character from the first book. I love that she has found herself and has reclaimed her life. She is living her dream and loving every moment. She is such a brilliant character, and I cannot wait to see what happens next.

A fun cozy mystery that you must read in one sitting because you just can't put it down! Nati, her boyfriend, Owen and her dog Sal are in Paris for a perfume competition, where she is also invited to speak about her success and to celebrate her 40th birthday. Owen arranged for a dinner birthday river cruise with her friends which much to her chagrin included her cheating ex-husband, Garrett and his new wife. But it also included the famous perfumer, Jean Marc,a womanizer, who was to also judge the competition. At the same time, Owen's most favorite band is doing a reunion tour and they just happen to be in Paris and are invited to her party as well. What fun it's going to be. Nati also can get together with her Parisian friend, Fleur and her new baby and her new puppy, a french bull dog, Boo as well as her other Parisian friends, Henri, Cora and Delphine. But what is wrong with Delphine? But what could have been a most enjoyable time turned into a murder as Jean Marc went overboard and drowned. But who could have killed him? When Nati's ex-husband is arrested for the murder, she knows she has to investigate. We are treated to lots of possible suspects, red-herrings,twists and turns subterfuge, take over plots and a second murder. This is not how Nati intended to spend her birthday in France. With Owen supporting her she goes about her investigation. But, is she going to survive the killer who already killed to people? Who could it be? I love this series and the characters are written very well. We also get a little side theme between Nati's dog Sal and his new love interest, Fleur's dog, Boo. So cute and so funny. And will Owen finally propose to Nati? I received and ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Review: Such a great book! This is the 4th in the series, but each book can be read as a standalone. This was based in Paris and I felt that Gray did a great job at capturing the Parisian lifestyle! This is not the first time that I have heard that Parisian partners sometimes have a mister or mistress that their spouse knows about. I loved that even though Nati was in another country, she was still able to collect clues and solve the murder! And best yet, Sal was able to come with her! He is one of my favorite characters because, as you may guess, I LOVE dogs! This was a cute little thriller and I recommend reading the series if you have not yet!

I was excited to receive another instalment of Langley Gray's "Doused to Death" series. We find Nati Butler, perfumer extraordinaire, her boyfriend Owen and of course Sal the bulldog in Paris, both for a perfume show and competition and for Nati's 40th birthday celebration. While the book ties to previous stories and characters, you could enjoy it as a standalone, but please give yourself a treat and read the first three in the series if you haven't already. You won't regret.
Of course, wherever Nati goes, there has to be a murder lurking the shadows, and "Eau De Death" doesn't fail us. Plenty of twists and turns leave you wanting more as each chapter finishes, and I don't think many of us would have guessed the ending.
This is a delightful book, easy to read and characters who become your friends. I can't wait for book 5 in this wonderful series.
Thank you to BookSirens for a complimentary digital copy which I have voluntarily reviewed.

I received a digital ARC of this book. I love this series by Langley and as soon as I found out the ARC was available I immediately went and signed up! If you haven’t read the previous books in this series you can still enjoy this book, but I highly suggest you read all the other books as well. Not only will it provide you the background of all the characters, but you will see the progression in Nati and Owen’s relationship. This book did not disappoint! I read it from start to finish in one sitting. I could not put it down. Once again, Nati finds herself close to a murder, and can’t help herself in wanting to solve it. You will be trying to solve it right along with her and Owen. Will you figure out who did it before she does? I can’t wait fir the next book in the series!

This is book four in the Doused to Death series. We return with characters from the other books and continue in their stories. Again, our beloved main character Nati is drawn into a mystery. The twists and unexpected turns keep you reading and turning the pages. The world building is detailed and imaginative. It pulled me in from beginning to end and held my attention. This book has strong, well-developed characters, an interesting story line full of suspense, danger, action, mystery, unexpected twists, and passion. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

There's a big stink at a perfume convention and it isn't any of the scents in the competition. It's the stink of murder. Gosh, but there are more twists, turns, and misdirects that you can imagine. Will you guess whodunit? There are lots of possibilities in this fast-paced, easy reading mystery. I'm not one to give a lot of 5-star reviews, but I think this one deserves accolades for humor, romance, and suspense.

I received an ARC of this book that is a 4th in a series, and am voluntarily leaving a review. I haven’t read the others in the series, so I can say with confidence that this works as a stand alone novel. Nati and her boyfriend are in Paris for perfume industry awards and plan a celebration of her 40th birthday while they are there. I found the parts about the perfume wold very interesting. When someone is killed on the birthday boat ride Nati’s ex husband is a suspect. The mystery kept me guessing. I enjoyed this and will look for the others in the series.

This book takes Nati and Sal (and Owen, who is finally her boyfriend!) to... Paris. I loved that they took Sal with them, and I loved that they are all set to celebrate Nati's fortieth (proving it's never too late to find love or start a new career) birthday on the Seine in a boat.
Where Nati is, murder happens... and Nati rises to the ocassion this time to figure out if her cheater ex is capable of murder!!!

Nati, boyfriend Owen and her dog Sal are in Paris for a convention and she is a speaker as well as a contributor to a contest. During her birthday river cruise, an arrogant perfume judge is sent overboard and drowns. The characters are fun, determined and there are multiple mysteries to contend with. The storyline has entertaining situations, great dialogue and vivid locales. The group gets you hooked right away and does not let go until the end, which pulled it al together nicely. Loved the tension and hijinks.

I admit it - I have been on a mystery binge lately. Besides finishing off the last of the Agatha Christie books that I have not yet read, I have also found several other series and authors that I have not tried. The Doused with Death series is one of those; they are contemporary cozy mysteries that feature perfumer Nati Butler. It seems that along with being a perfume "nose," Nati also has a nose for mystery.
This time she has travelled to Paris along with her boyfriend Owen and her bulldog Sal. Readers will feel that they are also in the City of Love with iconic sights like the Eiffel Tower, the scent and taste of fresh pain au chocolat, and all the other details that make up the sense of location. Besides attending a perfumery convention and catching up with friends from the Grasse Institute, Nati is also celebrating her fortieth birthday with a dinner cruise along the Seine. It sounds like a wonderful romantic getaway combined with the chance to make more connections in the perfume world.
Mystery intrudes on this working vacation when a guest on the cruise winds up dead in the river. Nati plunges into investigative mode, chatting with her friends and new acquaintances to try and unravel the circumstances of the suspicious death. There are so many different motives possible it seems Nati and the Surete may never be able to narrow down whether Jean Marc was killed because of romantic jealousy, professional competition, or some other motive.
Pages will be turning quickly as readers try to puzzle out whodunit, as well as worrying about Nati's safety during her sleuthing, whether Owen will pop the question while they are in Paris, and whether faithful Sal will find his doggie crush on French bulldog Boo requited. (Awww, puppy dog romance in Paris!) Although this book is part of a series, it can be read alone - although the rest of the series will be probably be added to the TBR pile as soon as this story ends.

I have to say that I think this was a very good book and I enjoyed it and laughed so much because I did read it from the very beginning to the very end and enjoyed the storyline that was so well written in my opinion. I thought the character built up was top notch great and it made the whole story move along so it makes sense to the reader. A little far far-fetched but nevertheless an enjoyable read.
The perfume nose theme is still a main part of this cozy mystery series, as is the devotion of some fans for a legendary band on their comeback tour.
The American perfume maker her boyfriend and dog are in Paris to celebrate her 40th birthday and attend a prestigious perfume conference/event when a celebrated in the world of perfume 'nose' is murdered….this is the theme of this mystery.
There are a lot of clichés of Paris and Parisians (French) which are from an American point of view (as I am French I found this simplistic) but still a nice entertaining story.
This is a second book in a series and it can be read as a standalone, bit some of the back story is part of this book abd helps understand some of the dynamics.

This Is book 4 in the Doused to Death series, but it is a stand alone story and can be read without reading the previous 3 books (although it’s helpful to see the journey Nati has been on and learn about the perfume industry). This time our heroine, Nati, who is finding success as a creator of perfume scents, is in Paris with her boyfriend Owen so she can attend and speak at a perfumers’ convention. She’s also entered her latest scent in a contest. While there she celebrates her birthday on a river cruise (arranged by Owen) and of course, there is a death on the cruise. Her ex-husband and his girlfriend happen to be there (read the book for that story) and he is a suspect in the death. Nati, Owen, her dog Sal and friends in Paris all work together to solve not just the death but also several other mysteries going on. I’ll say no more about the plot.
As with the previous books, the pace is brisk and the writing pulls the reader in (even though it is in 1st person past tense with Nati as the narrator, not my preferred voice). My only complaint about the writing (and I see this more and more in books and newspaper articles) is the use of he/she/I (subjective) when it should be him/her/me (objective). For example, writers these days tend to write such things as “between he and I” when it should be “between him and me.” It seems that the lack of diagramming sentences in grade school has led to a degradation of proper English. But I digress – it’s my pet peeve and it may not bother other readers. There is humor in the interactions and of course romantic tension – but no sex and no bad language for those who prefer not to read books with same. There’s a cute side plot with Sal and another dog Boo and a blossoming romance between the dogs that provides warmth and humor. Who doesn’t like subplots about dogs, right? Ms. Gray has thrown in a few red herrings but also enough clues that you may have a pretty good idea of whodunit before all is revealed (I did). The reader will enjoy the story enough that it will be a pleasure to keep reading to see if you’re correct.
This book is less technical than previous ones, so we don’t get Nati’s process for developing a new scent. If you’re interested in details like that about the perfume industry, please read at least the first book in the series. By this 4th book, Ms. Gray probably assumes you know as much as you want to know about that technical side of perfumery and she focuses more on the story and the characters.
Eau Du Death is a quick and enjoyable read with several mysteries to solve and shenanigans galore. The perfume industry is a wonderful setting for a cozy mystery series, given the somewhat cutthroat nature of the business (indeed, of any fashion business). I look forward to reading more about Nati, her dog Sal, and her boyfriend Owen.

ITA

Accompanied by her inseparable dog, Sal, and her boyfriend, Owen, Nati flies to Paris to participate in the prestigious “Best Perfume” conference as a finalist. Meanwhile, Owen takes the opportunity to follow his favorite band, Utopian Park, on tour. The band has recently returned to prominence.
During their stay, on the evening of Nati's birthday, a boat party is organized with a mix of guests, including band members, old friends, new friends, and even Nati's ex-husband. But by the end of the evening, something goes wrong: someone is missing. The captain announces that someone fell into the water and was rescued by another boat but unfortunately did not survive.
As always, Sal reveals a key detail: he has the victim's pocket handkerchief in his mouth. Who did it? And why? Nati finds herself investigating, especially when she discovers that the main suspect is her ex-husband.
As in the previous volume, the story is an enjoyable read. Alternating between improvised detective work, humorous moments, and a touch of intrigue, the story never disappoints. The only weak point? The ending, which is saved only because, despite being set in Paris, it avoids the most predictable cliché.
One final, provocative question: Can you really pay for dinner for two with €100 in Paris?

A trip to Paris to speak at a prestigious conference, recognizing her hard work and success, a special birthday cruise and catching up with friends from school Nati is on the trip of her dreams with Owen and beloved dog Sal along for the ride. However even the romance and mystique of Paris cannot compete with the awful when at the top of the Eiffel Tower non other than her ex husband and the woman he cheated with appear. Top that off with Owen unthinkingly inviting them to her birthday bash. Nati doesn’t let that get her down and enjoys her birthday first as a sightseer then in her special cruise. All good things except at the end of the night a special guest is missing and is found by another boat murdered. When her ex is arrested for murder Nati reluctantly agrees to help find the truth.
Firstly if my boyfriend invited my cheating ex on my 40th birthday dinner cruise I’d be epically ticked off and rightly so I think. Your birthday in my opinion is the day you have the right to be selfish and all about you and therefore should be spent with people who love and cherish you not cheating exes. Maybe that makes me petty but at least I’m upfront about it. Secondly the French are way too laid back about all this morally ambiguous behavior. Maybe it’s a cultural thing but I think cheating is wrong. Thirdly Owen and his fanboying is a bit much. On the one hand I totally get it we all have that group from our youth that resonates deeply even into adulthood. That reminds us of good times and has all the wonderful nostalgia of youth. On the other hand one of the guys is his close friend which you’d think would knock him out of his stupor a bit, but if not they’ve spent quite a bit of time together in this book and the previous so you’d think that would get him to think and act like an adult and not have ridiculous behavior and mental lapses.
As for the story now that I’ve gotten my emotional opinions out of the way, it’s an excellent mystery. Limited suspect pool, shady behavior, a floating crime scene make for a wonderful puzzle for Nati to investigate. Let’s not forget the backdrop of Paris romantic, full of history and an enchanting place murder notwithstanding. Lots of murkiness but in the end there’s many happy endings. All in all a delightful addition to the series even if some of the character reactions ring a bit false. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I’m running out of superlatives for Langley!
Nati returns with her trusty dog Sal. Nati gets invited to the perfume awards in Paris, in which her, Owen and Sal are super excited for. While in Paris, it’s Nati’s birthday so Owen plans a day of surprises including a river cruise with some of Nati’s most loved ones. However, there are a few unexpected guests, Garret, Nati’s cheating ex, his new girlfriend and renown perfume expert Jean Marc. When Jean Marc is found dead, the few guests of Nati’s birthday celebrations find themselves as the main suspects. Nati and Sal set about doing what they do best in trying to solve the crime.
I love Langley’s style of writing in the way that I never know who the killer is, Langley leaves me guessing until the very end. Another thing Langley does exceptionally is the way in which she portrays Nati and Owen’s relationships. I find myself hoping Nati finds the killer, while also hoping Owen hurries up and proposes. The Doused to Death series is a short, fun, series investigating a new murder each book, while continuing to develop the characters stories. I already cannot wait to read the next instalment of Langley and Owen’s relationship.
The only reason it does not get 5 stars for me, is because I wish they were longer!

This is book 4 in the series and finds Nati, Owen and Sal in Paris for a perfumery competition which also coincides with a concert by Owen's favourite band. While there, she bumps into her ex along with his girlfriend and then later her ex is accused of murder when one the guests on her birthday cruise is found dead. Of course, Nati finds herself getting involved to figure out what really happened.
This was a really enjoyable read and a very easy to read and nearly unputdownable book. I read it in a day. I enjoy the characters of Nati and Owen and the situations they find themselves in. There are several suspicious characters here so there's quite a bit to decipher and when a 2nd murder occurs, things get even more troubling.
I look forward to reading more of this series as it's a welcome distraction from the more gory and gritty books that I normally read.

Book 4 in Gray's Doused to Death Cozy Mystery Book series. Another fun, murderous adventure to add to this series. Each book in this series can be a stand alone but as with any series I appreciate reading in order when I can. Our main character is Nati who is a perfumer and in this read she and her boyfriend are in Paris and celebrating her 40th birthday on a river cruise. Celebrations are halted when a renowned perfumer is found dead in the river. Can Nati, Owen and her lil dog Sal solve the case before they leave the city of love?!? Well written fun as always - I adore these characters and the storyline is captivating from start to finish!

This book can be read within the series or as a standalone, but who wouldn’t want to find out what happens in the other ones?
The characters and plot were easy to follow and believable, but not so easy that you had the murder figured out right away. It was a great setting for a novel about a murder within the perfume industry.
Again, Sal stole the spotlight! I love that the author makes the dog and other minor characters so realistic and not just part of the background.

Eau De Death is the fourth book in the Doused to Death mystery series written by Langley Gray. The characters are fun, recognizable and intriguing and some details from the previous story are picked up again without making it so deep you HAVE to have read the others in this series. There is plenty of action, mystery, great characters, and romance. Another wonderful mystery from Langley Gray! I love the "Doused to Death" series! I recommend them all!! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
