Ambiguous

Love is for other people, not for me.

At least that’s what I believed, until I met him.

Julian Hill.

The most famous rock star on the planet. A music god with untidy hair and the voice of an angel.

I’ll never be anything but out, and he has very good reasons to stay in the closet.

After all, every move he makes is dissected, critiqued, and posted on social media, so he just wants a little privacy.

I understand that. Truly.

But no one makes me feel the way he does, and I’m pretty sure he has feelings for me as well.

Which is inconvenient since his record label hired me to sue him.

I should’ve sorted things out before I kissed him.

Oops.

Ambiguous is a forbidden mm rock star romance about a fashion-forward singer who hates labels of all kinds (except for clothing), a dapper attorney who already has a (fake) boyfriend for a very good reason, and the possibility of love saving the day.

Ambiguous is book one in the IOU series by Leslie McAdam. I’ve read a couple of Leslie’s books now and have come to realize that her books are a place I can go for the kind of love story that leaves me feeling so fulfilled, with my heart feeling so happy. These characters fall in love and even though outside forces are against them, they lean on each other for strength and find a way. And what an adorable meet cute. It was the perfect start to this wonderful romance.

Julian (Jules) Hill is one of the most successful rock stars on earth. He has a gorgeous voice that doesn’t fit any one genre. Julian lives to the beat of his own drummer so to speak. He dresses how he wants, always making people wonder about how he identifies. As much as Jules has accepted his life in the public eye, he feels like his sexual preferences are one place that is private. He doesn’t actually date at all. And then he met Sam. And everything changed.

Sam Stone is a lawyer. He is also the grandson of a prominent politician. He is a bit buttoned up, loving his suits, pocket squares and bow ties. Sam is out and proud. He also doesn’t believe in love.

“Sam Stone has officially become the most darling human being I’ve ever met.”

Sam and Jules might seem complete opposites. But honestly, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Both are completely dedicated to their families. And both are getting used because of it. In different ways. Both are honest, kind and trustworthy. Of course love always sneaks up on you when you least expect it. Or are you really ever prepared to be bowled over by the one you will soon be seeing as a part of your future? These two tried to do everything right. But still, outside forces were against them and they are forced to fight for each other. Which is one of my very favorite things. I LOVE when the conflict isn’t with each other causing a third act break up. But that the conflict comes from outside sources causing them to band together and hold tight.

This was such a wonderful book. I adored these two but I think I loved Sam the most! And his best friend, Emily! She made me smile so big. I’ve been wanting to start this series for awhile and am so glad I FINALLY did. I can’t wait to read book two, Studious.

I feel a little bit gaslit by the cover of this book. I feel a little bit hoodwinked and I definitely expected this to be a lot spicier than it was, given the front cover.
When I saw this book advertised on Amazon I added it straight to cart because the cover is so HOT and after reading the blurb I thought to myself ‘I’m going to love this’

Unfortunately, this has barely any spice in it and is probably on the same wavelength as something like red white and royal blue with a ~touch~ more spice I guess. One or two ass licks more xx

Let me set the scene for you. Julian, a hot sexy very sweet very loving rockstar who meets Sam, a very cute very professional lawyer. They have an awkward interaction that leads to some interest in one another and baddabing baddaboom we have a love story ready to take shape.

Ultimately, this is a basic AF Harry Styles fanfiction - but that’s not to say I didn’t thoroughly enjoy myself with this book.

This book surprisingly has a lot more depth to it than I thought I’d be getting. I really really enjoyed the plot. I loved the pacing right up until about 90% where I feel the pacing went out the window. The conflict turned up to 100 and then it was all wrapped up in a bow within 40 or 50 pages. I would’ve loved to have seen this part fleshed out way more because it was a little too ~sunshine and rainbows~ for the first 90% of the book for me, however the amount of depth in this book was really surprising.
For example there’s a lot of chat surrounding queer political issues. There’s a lot of politics in this book but not in a way that is flippant or overdramatised like it is in other books. This book kept it real.

I also really loved the depth that we spoke about when it came to Julian‘s ambiguous sexuality and the dangers of this in the music industry. It made me think of Harry Styles or Benson Boone and the way that they lean into and profit off of queer individuals, queer style, queer sounds and queer culture but never actually come out and address their sexuality properly. There’s a very important conversation in the book around not having to tell people how you identify but also pointing out that if you are going to be someone in the public eye who profits of queer culture you have a duty to come out and express and admit to who you are and who you love because not doing so is actually more harmful. It also speaks to those who fought for our rights and the fact that not owning who you are is a disservice to those who lost their lives fighting for us.

I really loved this point and it made me think a lot more about the way I feel about people similar to Julian in real life.

The rest was cutesy and I loved almost every moment, 4 stars!

P.S sorry if this review is cooked, I’m half asleep already.

In the same way that we don't get along with everyone we meet, I think this author and I just don't click. The first M/M book I read from her was Undone, where one of my favorite characters from the entire Vino & Veritas series was reduced to a biphobic cornflake. I decided to give this book a shot because the blurb was interesting and the cover was gorgeous and most everyone deserves a second chance, but unfortunately Julian and Sam's story didn't work for me and here's why:

Spoilers Ahead

The fake relationship between Sam and Kurt for political posturing was gross and I didn't understand why anyone would find it ethically acceptable to lie to the public for votes, no matter how good the cause or how important the election. Sam wanted so badly to advocate for his community and help right the political wrongs and injustices spreading across the country, but his grandfather came across as just another career politician manipulating his way to a win by saying all the right things while exploiting his grandson's sexuality. This part of the plot wasn't as simple to me as a grandson helping his grandfather change the world, it was a dishonest political ploy that nobody in Sam's family should have been okay with. I hated that it was being sold to me as a necessity for the greater good.

I also didn't care for the amount of pressure everyone put on Julian to disclose his sexuality publicly. Don't get me wrong, I am all about representation and applaud celebrities who use their clout and status to shine light on marginalized communities. However, I don't agree with making someone feel guilty for wanting to keep something for themselves, especially something so personal. We all know that being a celebrity often comes at the cost of privacy, but I don't believe they should lose their right to it. I loved how Julian handled things, but I wished he'd made the decision to do so on his own.

Between these two issues and the whole ethical dilemma built into the fact that Sam represented the company threatening to sue Julian for breach of contract, it seemed like there was a lot stacked against the two men. In the end, though, it was all resolved in a way that made me feel like everything had been blown way out of proportion. I was glad it all worked out and was genuinely happy for both Sam and Julian because I liked them both as characters. I just didn't connect with their story.

I’m really sorry but I can’t give more stars to this book. I liked the cover and the blurb announced great things but there weren’t any. Boring things yes, a lot of them. The writing is simplistic and basic , it felt written by a teenager- not bad but not too good either. The MCs were soooo so flat and boring , my God, I almost fell asleep. They talked and acted like teenagers and adding that the heat level was pretty low (or unimaginative) one might think it’s a NA , if not YA book. It seems like the author took all the dramatic issues and tropes from all MM books and wrote exactly the opposite (in quite a preaching voice I might add) till all that was left was a snoozing story about rainbow farting unicorns . If the guys had been 18 years old I would have bought the story but a lawyer and a huge rockstar acting like blushing teens was hard to digest. I wish I could tell you what the book was about but honestly..it wasn’t about anything . 🤷🏻‍♀️

I swear to god I hate my life. This is third book I’ve read that is 2 stars. The premise was intriguing. But it fell flat. I hated all of the lying that happened. I just couldn’t connect to the characters. There were some sweet moments but eh. It was just okay.

Cute rock star romance which didn't feel too out there

Writing a rock star romance takes a deft hand because if they're too famous, it becomes hard to believe they'd meet and fall for a random person.

Here, Leslie keeps things interesting and more realistic by having the other party be a lawyer who represents the record label.

I really liked Sam, he's kinda repressed but really just a little bit bruised by a previous boyfriend and also his family's expectations.

I didn't really care for the side plot involving his fake boyfriend, his grandfather's political campaign, and the pressure they put on Sam to go along with their wishes.

Still, it worked as a tension driver.

Overall, this was a pretty sweet and nicely slow burn romance as they got to know each other without the extra complications of sex.

When they did start getting it on, it was a great mix of steamy and emotional that cemented the attraction between them both.

I was lucky enough to get an early read of this book. I'm in a bit of a book hangover now...so a few thoughts.

The overarching questions here are...what do we owe to the people around us? To the world? To ourselves? And what is the hierarchy of life?

Julian. He lives as he chooses - dress, attitude, etc. He's cognizant of his fans, and where he is because of them. He feels he owes his time - but not himself. Not his sexuality. He's not wrong, but everything comes with a cost. When you don't show the world who you are, you're not truly showing yourself.

What does he owe his brother, for what he has that his brother was denied? He's not responsible for the life they had - but if he can atone for that, should he? And again...what will it cost to do that? Everything costs.

Sam. He's out of the closet...but if you have to be the "good" kind of gay, and color inside the lines, are you truly out? What do you owe your family for accepting you - do you owe them to be the "right" kind of person for their image? To me, that's not acceptance. What happens when you get the job you want - and discover it's not what you wanted at all?

On paper, these two should not work. They're both paying a cost for not being true to themselves. And the strait-laced lawyer and bohemian musician should not click. But they do. And in this, they both begin to see the other, and the cost of being something other than what you should truly be.

I wasn't sure this would work out. But it did...and it's a very good thing. Go forth, and read this one.

This was so good I really liked it. I love a good rock star romance.
But I found the random celebrity references so cringey. “Oh my Gaga” “thank Rihanna” “for Taylor swifts sake” too cringe for me 😬😬😬

4 Stars

I’ll preface this review by saying, I recently found myself on the One Direction and Harry Styles side of tiktok and I’ve become quite obsessed, especially with Harry, he’s just absolutely adorable and his voice is so beautiful. When I read the blurb for this book Harry immediately came to mind and I couldn’t request the ARC fast enough. Once I opened the book and began reading, I really came to suspect that this might be Harry fanfic or at least heavily inspired by him. When I got to the end of the story and looked at the acknowledgments, my suspicion that the book was inspired by Harry, was confirmed by the author. Julian isn’t Harry, but you can clearly see the similarities between the two of them. Okay, I’ll stop rambling about Harry and start my review now. lol

First, this book probably had one of the best meet-cutes I’ve ever read, OMG, it was so great! I really loved both Jules and Sam and they were super adorable together. They were both sweet, likable guys and although they are somewhat opposites, it felt like they were really meant for one another. Unfortunately, there are obstacles standing in their way that, at times, I wasn’t sure they’d be able to overcome.

Because of those obstacles, this was an extremely slow-burn romance, but the sexual tension between Jules and Sam was thick enough to cut with a knife. They had amazing chemistry and once they finally acted on their feelings, they were explosive together.

I also really loved Julian’s Manager, Loren, and Sam’s bestie, Emily. They were both great support systems for Jules and Sam. As for their families, well I could take them or leave them, especially Jules’ brother, Colin.

This was a well-written and well-paced story that was really enjoyable to read and I’d definitely have no issues recommending you pick it up!

Let’s be honest: this is the kind of cover that makes you want to read the book, isn’t it? But I’ve been fooled more than once, so recently I have become a little more careful not too just fall for a pretty cover.
I had read only one book by this author prior to this one and I enjoyed it well enough to give this one a try. And I’m glad I did. I already knew I clicked with the writing, though I have to admit I was a little afraid it would be too insta love for me. It was close, but I could handle this one 😅

Julian is one of the most famous rockstars in the world (the author states that Harry Styles inspired her to write Julians character) and Sam is a lawyer who is hired by the record company to make sure Julian finishes his new, long overdue album. Their first meeting was just the sweetest, and so were they.
I loved reading about their developing relationship. Sam, however, is very committed to his political family and therefore has obligations that can’t involve a relationship with the world’s most famous rockstar.

I loved how Julian didn’t want to confirm to certain standards and expectations. I loved his speech about how the way he liked to dress had nothing to do with his sexuality. I loved how he made Sam open up to him and vice versa. They were really good together!

This is a low angst, sweet story, but it doesn’t mean it’s sweetness galore and pure fluff. Things happen, and I really enjoyed where the author took this story, with quite some great LGBTQ+ representations. It’s also mentioning recent harmful developments happening in certain US states, of which I thought added some extra weight into this story.

I kindly received an ARC and this is my honest, unbiased review

What an absolute stunner of a book.

I read romance books because I love love. I love everything about love. The first meeting, the falling in love, the realisation that they’ve found their person. I don’t give a flying fuck if it’s a man and a woman or a woman and a woman or a man and a man. I love love. Ambiguous hit my love button (wait, that sounds a bit saucy but I care not)!

Julian Hill is a great character. In my head I could see him gyrating across the stage with the audience eating out of his hand. He’s vibrant and exciting wearing his pearls and silk, he’s breathtaking. He doesn’t need a label because he’s just Jules. Perfectly beautiful Jules. I’m more than a little bit in love with him. I’m enamoured.

Then there’s Sam Stone. Intelligent and charming. He is an advocate of gay rights and oh boy does he fall hard for Julian. The falling in love is swoony.

Julian and Sam together are perfection in a book couple.

I know Julian resembles Harry Styles but do me a favour and check out Shawn Mendes in pearls instead and thank me later for the visual. Damn, he’s just perfect.

Loved loved loved it!

I can’t wait until you get to meet Jules and Sam!!

About a year ago, my friend Cory Stierley (who has taken most of my cover photos) sent me a link to the Harry Styles “Falling” video, because he thought I’d like it.

I now blame him for this whole book (Cory, not Harry).

Basically, I’d never listened to him before (Harry, not Cory, although Cory can sing), but I thought the video was gorgeous, with a soaking wet Harry playing the piano while wearing a ruffled shirt.

After I saw it, I took a shower and had one of those moments where the entire story came to me like a creative download from the universe.

I wrote the initial outline to this book dripping wet and wearing a towel.

(That’s probably TMI.)

So, is this book Harry Styles fanfic? IDK. He certainly started it, and my thanks to some YouTubers out there who compiled videos of him … but I think Jules is his own person. I know one of my early readers who prefers other singers thought Jules was kind of a Shawn Mendes type. I just shrug. He's a rock star. Up to you to decide.

When I requested a copy, I didn't know that one of the main characters was inspired by a real person. I mention that because I don't read fanfic, especially if it's inspired by a real person and not a fictional character. I tried once to read some inspired by the characters of a book, and it just reaffirmed what I already knew: it's not for me. But, especially when it's about someone out there, something about reading a story like that feels weird to me. I have nothing against people who write it or people who read it, but it's not my thing and doesn't appeal to me.

That being said, I struggled really hard to finish this. I felt awfully uncomfortable for a big chunk of the book, especially in the beginning, when we were getting to know the characters, and it was very clear who the inspiration for Julian was.

I liked their meeting scene, where Sam was extremely clumsy and fell all over himself, trying not to embarrass himself but managing to do just that in the end. And I liked how it was kept as a running joke between them.

I didn't like the big drama-boom near the end, where everything exploded suddenly in the span of a few pages. This, combined with the fact that the resolution came pretty effortlessly, made the whole thing seem unnecessary and pointless.

The story, in general, was okay, but it did feel too long. It was divided into too many short chapters, so maybe that played a part in that feeling. Also, I often got confused about who was narrating as the characters' "voices" were very similar, and the POV changed fairly quickly because of the short chapters. So it was challenging to keep track of who was talking and even more difficult to distinguish them.

I think I would have enjoyed this a lot more if both MCs were originals. As it was, I struggled so much trying to forget one of them wasn't that it took most of my enjoyment right out of the story.

I would have given more if the PR trope was not there. I do not vibe with that kind of stuff. Not to mention, the heat was not there at all. The chemistry was fine, but it was not lived up to the very end. I love Jules. He was a strong character with a strong, vibrant, and unique personality for a queer book but maybe the book was too long and short at the same time for all that unnecessary and external drama.

DNF at 61%. sorry but I didn't enjoy this one at all.
First, what is it with the Insta love??? how can you seriously fell for a guy after meeting him once? it looks so superficial to me. yes, he looks nice and acts cute but you do not know someone 5 seconds and act like he is the one.
I didn't like Julian. he didn't feel real and I kept imagining him as a male Barbie doll. always so nice, smiling, friendly to everyone, this can't be a real person.
Sam? he was just boring, nothing more.
The synopsis wasn't even accurate. I was thinking Sam will want Julian out but he wasn't really out himself, he was faking it just in another way. I could have skimped till the end but with zero attachment to both characters there is no reason to.

It was a good book, but I feel like the author missed the opportunity to make it a great one. It had all the right ingredients.

The characters were quite compelling. Between the openly gay lawyer with a big heart who wants to fight for a good cause, and the androgynous rockstar who refuses to conform to labels and is forging his own path, the potential for a good romance was there. Add to that the way they helped each other to overcome their hang-ups–Julian’s reluctance to become a frontman for LGBTQ+ people, and Sam’s desire to please his family of politicians–and the book becomes a little more than just romance. I’m here for that.

But the whole political plot deserved to be more developped. As it is, it was mostly an excuse to stick Sam with a fake boyfriend and to create a conflict between him and Julian. There were mixed feelings between him and his parents on one hand, and his grandfather on the other, that needed some closure. Here, everything was resolved off page and there was no confrontation. It frustrated me.

Julian’s backstory also had a lot of potential, between his jealous brother, and what he had to do to become a superstar, but again it was reduced to a few scenes to move the romance forward and create some conflict–that was hastily resolved in one paragraph.

Their relationship was adorable though. The fumbling meeting, the enthusiastic support, the creative juice… They were made for each other for sure. Maybe it was a bit too perfect. All their struggles came from the outside, while their relationship couldn’t have been better. They barely argued. It was cute and sweet, but let’s face it, they were adults with a whole past behind them, it shouldn’t have been that easy.

The gallery of side characters looked more like a bunch of stereotypes and narrative functions, but they worked. I especially loved the homophobic boss–not the character himself, but his role in the story–and of course the non-binary manager. Kurt, the fake boyfriend but real friend, was also interesting, though his role was limited.

A missed opportunity but an enjoyable romance anyway.

Quickie

- Series: IOU #1 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #MM romance #forbidden romance #rockstar #lawyer
- Triggers: slight homophobia
- Main couple: Sam Stone & Julian Hill
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 4/5
- + I loved all the political aspects
- – maybe a bit too sweet to my taste, like it’s all rainbow and sunshine

🎧🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧🎧

OVERALL REVIEW & RATING: 3 STARS

It took me longer than it normally does to listen to Ambiguous and it’s partly because of the narrators and partly due to the story. Since I listened to this story I’ll explain about the narration first.

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 3 STARS

Jules: Narrated by Hamish Long
Sam: Narrated Kirt Graves

Julian’s accent was very thick for me and because of that, I had to stop and go back way too many times to make sure I got all the details of what he was narrating because I didn’t want to miss anything key to the story. Every time I did that, the flow and immersive experience I normally feel while I listen to a story was abruptly paused and it just took a lot of the enjoyment out of my listening experience. On that same note, every time I had to do that, I was yanked out of the flow of the storyline and on that same point, I felt like I was reading (listening) for reading and not experiencing the story. Put that all together and frankly my entire listening experience was tedious.

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 3 STARS

There are a whole lot of circumstances surrounding this story other than the romance journey between Jules & Sam but none of them accomplished much of anything except throw shade over the romance. Even better phrasing might be that a lot of plot points or circumstances outside of the romance were weaved into the narrative but not fleshed out enough to even make sense on why they were there and what their purpose was. I am not a fan of any plot points in a romance fiction story that do not directly impact the romance journey itself. Those plot points come across as drama for drama to me and immediately make me #twitchy Don’t even get me started on the dramatics that began to drop like bang snaps when there was barely 10% of the book left! #TWITCHY *blink* And I’m not trying to say that these plot points were unrealistic, but just because something could happen to someone does not mean you have to make it part of the story …

I really liked Sam and Jules as characters, and I enjoyed their growth but everything else outside of that put a damper on my experience with this story. Ambiguous released over five months ago so I don’t feel it is necessary for me to go any further and nit-pick this or that about it because there are already plenty of reviews out there that should be able to give you a good perspective on the story.

So, obvs this is not one of my fave Leslie McAdam stories to date, but I’m just one reader with one perspective and I have ready plenty of stories by Leslie that worked for me spectacularly so *shrug* Do with that information what you will :)

This was mesmerizing and every bit delicious. There wasn’t a dull moment to be had.

A slow-burn rock and roll romance, of a lawyer who’s supposed to keep the rockstar in line, while also serving the whims of his very political family. But they discover risking it all may be the best path to success.

I loved these two together, they’re sweet and sexy, and I loved how they brought out the best in each other, both pushing the other out of their boxes. They never really doubted what they had, using it to make them strong.

This is a well-moving book that keeps you intrigued and entertained from beginning to end.

Rock Star troupe!! I wish there was more stories in this troupe!! Ambiguous is the first in the IOU series. I fell in love with Julian and Sam!! Their story hooked me; I couldn’t put it down. Their chemistry was fire! Sam is out, Julian is not. Being a rock star you have to show the world a different you. They were so opposite, but they worked perfectly!! Overall, absolutely fantastic!!! The story was really well written and kept me engaged, the pacing flowed smoothly, highly recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
Edited to add I listened to the audio narration by Hamish Long and Kirt Graves. Fantastic job!! Each voice was clear and distinct! Well done.

This is the kind of book where I'm shouting, YES! over and over for all the monumental moments.

Julian Hill and Sam Stone are both beautiful people inside and out. Both men stood on morals of who they are, what they stand for and are proud of the men they portrayed in society. While Julian is an international rock star, Sam is more locally known within the community as the face of his grandfather's political campaign supporting LGBTQ rights. While they each live a different life under the spotlight, I adored how they supported one another and brought out each others strengths and were there to lift up the other during their weaknesses.

Jules always come across as ambiguous, never stating what box he fit in, wearing whatever he desires regardless of gender conformity, and continually states his sexuality is a private matter. I LOVE him so much. I've said this very thing for years. I've personally never understood what someone's orientation has to do with their job performance, or ability to help, or basically anything outside the bedroom. Julian is firm in this belief and never wavers, but his speech as to why is absolutely glorious.

When Sam first meets Jules it's an adorkable meet cute, but begins their intense chemistry and work related friendship that turns into much more.

Sam Stone has always lived his life outside of the closet, a firm believer in standing up for LGBTQ rights and being the face for his grandfather's campaign of those rights. Sam is organized, dislikes clutter and labels everything. Meeting and having feelings for Julian shouldn't make sense, especially someone who lives their life without labels, but these two connect in a beautiful way and their story is magical.

Jules and Sam light up the pages from the heated time spent together before the clothes come off, to stolen kisses, to finally hitting the sheets. They are sweetly cute in getting to know one another before steaming it up and I loved every moment.

Ambiguous hit all the sweet spots, with the right amount of tension to make me bite my nails until everything worked out. Leslie McAdam knows how to build the tension while writing a wonderful plot.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

I really enjoyed this book - it very cleverly pairs two people who really shouldn't work, or play, together for all manner of reasons, but chemistry and passion never pay attention to such things. Thank goodness, as we get a really engaging, fun, twisty tale.

The flamboyant rockstar who dresses just as he chooses, but refuses to talk about his sexual preferences - and when questioned at a dinner, he makes the most fabulous point about the irrelevance and double standard of asking him, when he would not have made the same assumptions about a woman. Great comeback! He does not expect to change his single status, or the protection of his privacy, yet meeting Sam throws that all out of the window. Add in the fact that he is suddenly writing songs again, and Sam is definitely the important new centre to his life.

Sam, poster boy with fake boyfriend, for his Grandfather's political role and future ambitions, has been turned off love thanks to a user first boyfriend. However, even he finds that Julian is taking space in his mind and enjoying any excuse to spend time with him.

The complications are real, and the drama is not intense, but enough to give one a pause. I completely bought into the two of them being fully invested in making this work and they stay true to their natures throughout. Fun book, with some great cameo roles too.

I do really adore a touch of the forbidden and the blurb of Ambiguous caught my attention immediately. Leslie McAdam is a new author to me and I am always keen to expand the pool of talent available.

Even from the first few chapters, I could tell the blurb made light (ambiguous?) of how much this book would make me feel. Ambiguous is a thoroughly character driven story with two deeply misunderstood men who are complex and don’t easily trust.

The undeniable chemistry and heartfelt passion between Sam and Julian (Jules) is breathtaking. There’s a delicious “wait until they can act,” which heightens the reader’s emotions and makes each page turn itself as we become desperate for the inevitable explosion to come.

The added drama and suspense of Julian’s celebrity status and the men having to hide their budding relationship makes for exactly the right amount of tension. While the side characters (sassy and mean) make for a colourful addition to round out a well-crafted world.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story of a world-famous musician and wished I could have listened to the songs described in Ambiguous. Leslie McAdam writes an engaging place in the start of this IOU series, where readers will enjoy spending a few hours with passionate men while they fall completely in love.

Aww this one was just so sweet, I enjoyed it a lot.

Brief summary
Julian is a famous rock star and Sam is a lawyer. They meet for work and even though they probably shouldn’t, they fall in love.

I really enjoyed this one. It was super sweet and I really loved the romance in this one. It was so sweet to see how it all developed and the easy way in which they got together. I loved how this one was slow burn and how they slow learn to know each other before they fell in love, that just really worked for me. I liked how they were ready to fight for each other through it all, that just really worked for me.

Side note, but the fact that the author of this book mentioned that Julian is inspired by Harry Styles really sold this book for me. I just really loved that.

My only thing is that i’m not a fan of the forcing the main character to come out because you think it would be good for him even if he doesn’t want to trope and there was a lot of that in this one and it just wasn’t my favourite thing in the world. I just think that that character should have been able to make his own choice on the matter without the constant peer pressure.

I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion
