This book may have begun with the promise of an interesting story, but that promise was broken not long after the first few chapters. The book is not in any way a romance. It is silly, and the silliness turns into brutality, perhaps to remind us that bikers are rough and tough. There are also a several mistakes that should have been caught be an editor or proofreader.

There is the merest whiff of a story, but it is slathered in badly written sex scenes. Rather than plot, we have sex. Rather than narrative, we have moans and groans. Rather than solid characters, we have f***-buddies.

This is a story of an older man who hooks up with a twenty-one-year-old on her twenty-first birthday. It has elements of creepiness in the initial meetup. Both main characters, Coop and Kelsey (kind of a Coop-ette), are cut from the same cardboard. Their relationship begins with sex in a filthy bathroom; this isn’t what I want to read with regard to dirty sex, but that’s what we’re given. Sex between strangers in a dirt-ridden bathroom in a bar. Without a condom. How many times has our intrepid hero performed this act, unwrapped? Same question for our questionable heroine. Where is the romance in sloppy, drunken sex with a stranger? Nothing quite as sexy as an STD. The fire in Kelsey’s veins? That’s the beginning of her well-earned STD.

The storyline, such as it is, is unoriginal. It appears to be a bunch of rehashed, tired tropes (age-gap lust, poor little rich girl with big bad biker, lots of contrived misunderstandings, antagonistic MCs fight the hero’s MC, etc.) stitched together to provide a framework for lots and lots and lots of sex scenes. If you are looking for a “horny book” that doesn’t let plot or character development, get in the way of sex, then this is the book for you. If you want a book with a plot and some three-dimensional characters, then seek elsewhere.

The way this writer portrays brutal sexual abuse is sickening. One of her characters is made to suffer horribly from sexual assaults (yes, multiple). It is an unhealthy treatment of the subject matter. It is handled with indifference, as if there is no horror in the violence. The victim does not get over the experience, yet it is treated unsympathetically. If the writer waves a magic wand over such ugliness, it doesn’t go away, regardless of what the writer wants us to believe.

There are mistakes, inconsistencies and confusions peppered throughout the book. For instance:
 The Prologue has a subtitle, “COOP ~ 2 YEARS LATER.” Later than what? Apparently, the prologue takes place 2 years in the future(?) If so, then this little lust-romp was a roll in the hay for both main characters, because the hero is on the road again, a happy nomad, wandering from MC to MC.
 “Posters and sh** about the town’s prison history is plastered on storefronts and billboards….” The subject of the sentence is the compound, “posters and sh**,” which requires a plural verb. It should read, “Posters and sh** about the town’s prison history ARE plastered….”
 Shots and babes? They make life worth livin’.” The quotation marks are from the book; I did not add any although I am quoting from the book. This two-sentence observation begins without quotation marks, appearing to be part of the narrative. But the second sentence ends with quotation marks, implying someone is talking. I’ve absolutely no idea what the writer wanted to convey; it stopped me in the middle of reading and popped me out of the book.
 “All right. Can you recommend a shop that’s fast and reasonably priced? I tell him about my problem. More quotation mark issues: the quotation marks are from the book; I did not add or remove any. The problem again is figuring out where the dialog ends and narration begins. Most likely, a set of quotation marks should appear after “problem,” but I’m not sure.
 “I remove my ponytail and slide it onto my head with a grunt.” Really? The speaker is wearing a fake ponytail that she removes(?) Then she slides the ponytail she just removed to the top of her head? Interesting move.
 “She looks right where the small pizza shack sits….” Animate objects (a person, an animal) sit. Inanimate objects (books, plates, shacks) set. This should read, “She looks right where the small pizza shack SETS….”
 “I turn to face her, hands on my hips and a sly smile on my face.” This is not in error, per se, but when writing in first person point of view, descriptors need to be used carefully. In this case, the narrator is talking about deliberately smiling in a sly way; it’s conniving and a bit deceitful, setting the readers up for a bit of premeditated manipulation by the narrator. But that isn’t what happens. The slyness does not contribute to the scene.
 “I look up at the sky and spot one or two lights sparking above, but not enough to provide me with any comfort.” When lights spark, they are perhaps burning out, or may have a short in them. In what way would an electrical discharge provide comfort? Since there is not enough sparking, we can infer that some amount of sparking will comfort the narrator. Seems like a strange concept, though.
 “Ace and I both stare at Shades in surprise, though we shouldn’t have been.” Shouldn’t have been…what? Staring? The verb, “stare,” is present tense; the verb “should [not] have been” is broken down like this: “should” is conditional; “not” is negative; “have been” is past tense. So, we have one sentence with both present (“stare”) and past (“have been”) tense verbs. While “should” is conditional, we are not given any clues to what part of the sentence is uncertain: should they not have been staring? Should they not have been surprised? We don’t know. It is an awkward sentence that confuses more than it explains.
 “I’m only twenty-one, for fu**s sake.” The word, “fu**,” is possessive, so should be written like this: “I’m only twenty-one, for fu**’s sake.” Please note I am using asterisks in place of letters because the vulgarity, while acceptable enough in adult company, is unacceptable with youngsters and I have no idea the ages of people reading these reviews. Just like the books…who knows?
 “Gunfire sounds throughout the warehouse, but my main goal, my total focus, on getting Kelsey to safety.” We’re missing a verb in the second clause, “…but my main goal, my total focus, on getting Kelsey to safety.” I think the writer means, “…my total focus, IS on getting Kelsey to safety.”
 “She lets out a content sigh….” The word, “content,” is a noun and I think the writer meant the adjective, “contented,” to indicate a satisfied or happy sigh. It should read, “She lets out a contented sigh….”
 In one scene, Kelsey and Coop are meeting up again. Kelsey asks Coop, “Club business?” to which Coop responds, “Always.” She then asks, “Everything good?” and they continue discussing why she is inappropriately asking about club business. Later in this same conversation, Kelsey asks (again), “How are things with your club?” and he answers her. It is redundant and an unlikely conversation topic which has already been argued. It seems that the writer changed the order of topics in this conversation but left some previous description behind. Just guessing….

It’s practically impossible to write a book without a few mistakes left in, but when the mistakes grow, they distract and pull the reader out of the book.

I rated this book 2-stars and came close to rating it 1-star. The ending is terrible; it is most definitely not an HEA. There is also a deliberate cliffhanger. It appears as if the writer will tell us more only if we buy another book. I won’t. It feels like blackmail and I do not care enough about the characters to follow their sex-capades. I missed the X-Ray feature, too; it was unavailable. Again, this is a book about sex. It is not a romance. It uses an MC as a backdrop and the inherent roughness as an excuse to rough up the characters. IMHO, this book is not worth the reading time.

This is a hard review to write as I have mixed emotions about this book. There are parts of this story that are extremely hard to read from an emotional standpoint and may be extremely triggering for some. COOP has scenes of violence, both lethal and sexual, which I found difficult on a personal level. It’s the lack of a trigger warning that I struggled with giving this only 3 stars. But overall the character and storyline development are strong and engaging. You’re drawn into Coop’s and Kelsey’s lives from the start. Their chemistry jumps off the pages, and it doesn’t take long to see through Coop’s strong, tough exterior with his immediate attraction to and steadily growing feelings for Kelsey. Kelsey has a lot of fire and sass that motivates her independent nature and ultimately her interest in and feelings for Coop. It’s the strength of their relationship that drives you through the harsher parts of their story. I really did like this story. It’s well written, complex, and compelling. Just be forewarned that if you are sensitive to SA scenes you may, at the very least, need to skip those pages.

I'm torn with this one. I enjoyed the story but not so much all the graphic details. I ended up skimming bits as I found them gross to read.
Coop and Kelsey had a great story line though, he's a bad boy, she's a rich college student. They hooked up at her 21st while she was letting her hair down. Was it a good idea to get involved with the MC who are always full of crime and at war. She soon found out why he tried to push her away.
Plenty of action packed danger, loving and violence.

*****100% TRIGGER WARNING!!!!*****

I read the reviews before reading this book and was hesitant. Hesitant because it was mentioned repeatedly that this book has triggers and should have a warning ahead of time about the graphic depictions of rape. With that being said I started reading very SLOWLY for me with a pit in my stomach hoping it wasn't graphic & told in a respectful way. Sadly I have to say it most definitely wasn't!! I can't attest to how graphic as I stopped reading those chapters until Kelsey was rescued. As a women I can not, nor do I choose to read anything graphically depicted about physical and sexual abuse! Do I realize sadly that we as women are preyed upon and demeaned, abused and have taken from us that which is not freely given? Yes, but I do not want to read about it in detail or at all!. The topic of rape does not ever need to be graphically depicted because we can already imagine how horrific that would be. If you took away that section this book imo would have been a solid 3 maybe even 4 star read. However if reading a book makes me feel ill, iky, nausea and P!$$3d off then its not a book that deserves my high rating.
So in closing this was a decent MC read with good characters as well as scum of the earth depicted characters. I understand that reading MC books there is violence, sex scenes(all consensual) and questionable rights and wrongs, legal and illegal activities however rape scenes are a hard limit and pass for me!
You may ask why I'm solely basing my review on that topic in this book? I would say because no one needs to read about a women being demeaned, degraded, Abused, her free will taken from her as well as having her body used by many without her consent!!! Abuse is not a topic I will ever be ok reading and I will listen to the reviews from now on! I like to read reviews but I also like to form my own opinions and I guess I was hoping they were wrong....BIG MISTAKE on my part! ✌ light and love to all but especially to anyone who has been a victim of rape, mental or physical abuse!🙏

*Spoilers* I really liked this book, until the end. I do not remember if there are trigger warnings but please pay attention to them if there are. The chemistry between Coop and Kelsey is good and I liked them both of characters. Plenty of steamy scenes between them but their interactions outside the bedroom were a little flat as they seemed more like friends with benefits than anything else. But things take a decidedly darker turn and that part I could have done without. Reading about her attack and the details of it was horrific and did not add anything to the book or their story. I am sorry the author included it.

Not sure why

This was amazing and I was loving it until 92% in when BAM you just get an awful brutal turn that wasn't warned in a trigger and there should have been one. There's no resolution and just more questions......

Really good in parts, terrible in others. Should have a huge warning though that there’s a brutal scene in.

I’ll put a spoiler below, I will say there’s a scene that is brutal. Bizarrely it was quite well written about afterwards. I say bizarrely because I’m parts it was truly awful.

Kelsey meets Coop in a bar and has wild sex with him in a toilet. Bit gross, but okay. Coop is a nomad who has joined up with the Reckless Souls Mc. When they first meet, I wasn’t sure which one I disliked the most. As Kelsey talks about sex in a gross way, and acts like she’s desperate for any man. Coop is just after a one night stand, and when she turns up with her car the next day at the Mc’s garage, he thinks she’s stalking him, and is horrid to her. Kelsey comes across as desperate and forgives him because he’s so amazing at sex. What should have been a one night turns into love as they start seeing each other, but only for sex. So I’m not really sure how they fell in love.

While they’re running round having sex everywhere, the Mc are at war with another club. The danger escalates really fast, especially for poor Kelsey.

While I enjoyed this book in parts, there were loads of mistakes, errors in the plot, and the sex scenes are just silly. One minute she’s got her panties on, the next he’s staring at her naked. Where did they go? Then they’re laying in bed, having sex, then he carries her to bed. So poorly written in places. One thing that drove me crazy, is the anal sex. No preparation, no anal plug to get her used to it, just straight banging away at her. Wtf? The other sex thing that annoyed me, is right from the beginning, he doesn’t wear a condom! Doesn’t ask if she’s on the pill, no talk about whether he’s clean, she’s clean. Does this author not worry about sexually transmitted diseases?

***************SPOILERS AHEAD********************

Kelsey is brutally raped by loads of men. And I mean brutally! It’s awful. I’m not sure that if I read that warning, I would have still read it. Afterwards she has ‘telephone’ counselling. That’s not enough. She needs intensive therapy. Don’t know what her dad thought about it, as he’s not mentioned afterwards.

I think that this is one of the best books of KB WINTERS that I have read!! You won't be disappointed!! 💙💙💙

Reckless Souls MC California is where Coop finds his footing and decides to stay for a while. Coop is a mechanic and SSA for the Reckless Souls. He and a few of his MC brothers decide to go to a local bar one night where he ends up hooking up with Kelsey in the bathroom stall!!

Kelsey and her friend Ruby go out for Me lady's 21st birthday and wind up at a MC bar where she hooks up with Coop!! Kelsey and Coop end up having the best time in their life having hooked up in the women's bathroom stall!!

Afterwards there is danger lurking around the bar. Coop gets Kelsey and Ruby out of the bar since there are bar fights breaking out. I won't spoil the rest of the book but you can bet that you will continue to enjoy the rest of this book!!

There is mayhem, action packed, lots of 🔥🔥🔥 HOT SEXY TIMES, emotional pain, physical pain, retribution and revenge!!

I love this author and have been reading her books for many years. I must admit I was a bit shocked by this read in that I found parts very hard to read and I’m not used to that from this author. I think the book itself, mif you take away those difficult parts is very good - as expected. This is the first book in a new series titled - Reckless Souls. This story is about Coop and Kelsey and you are not only drawn but rooting for them from the beginning. Coop has lived a nomad life forever but now finally had a place to stay. He's a mechanic and the SSA for the Reckless Souls so when he and his brothers decide to go out to a bar one night he has no idea how things will change in his life. He meets Kelsey at this bar where she is with her friend, Ruby celebrating her birthday. They are instantly attracted and end up making out at the bar in the bathroom stall. This was supposed to be it but this is the beginning. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Coop has lived as a nomad for a few years, his father keeps asking him to come back to the Reckless Bastards MC in Mayhem Nevada. Back there is he hardly more than Lasso's kid, this keeps him out of his shadow. He is hanging out with the Angel Harbor chapter when he meets Kelsey. She does not seem to want more than a good time and what a good time it was. They run into each other again when her car is towed to the shop the MC owns. Coop who never goes back for seconds finds himself hooking with Kelsey again.

Coop knows she is too good for him but cannot stay away from Kelsey. Feelings are starting to get involved even though no one talks about it. A rival club realizing she maybe bargaining chip abducts her in order for force Coop's hand. Can he save her?

The two have such chemistry and this book is hot but there are parts that maybe to dark for some.. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the 1st book in the Reckless Souls MC featuring Coop and Kelsey's SIZZLING HOT story!! The Reckless Souls MC California chapter is where Coop finally finds his way and his place so he decides that he's going to stay a little while. He's a mechanic and the SSA for the Reckless Souls so when he and his brothers decide to go out to a bar one night he has no idea how things will change in his life. Kelsey and Ruby go out celebrating her birthday and they wind up in an MC bar where she meets Coop. Their chemistry is so explosive that they hook-up in the bathroom stall and it was just supposed to be a birthday quickie a present to herself but it's so much more. I don't want to say anymore and ruin it for anyone else with spoilers. You really need to read this SIZZLING HOT story to see what happens. I would recommend reading this book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This spin-off of the Reckless Bastards series, follows Coop, who’s father officer of the Reckless Bastards MC. Coop has chosen the life of a nomad, going where he’s needed as an enforcer, and is currently taking a break in Angel Harbor, CA where his friend Ace is the president of the Reckless Souls MC. On her 21st birthday Kelsey is out celebrating when she hooks up with Coop for what both think is a one night stand. But it's the start of more and when some enemies of Coop find out what she means to hi, they kidnap her and brutalize her. I loved how the nomad steps up for the women he loves and she for him. This book is full of sizzle, steam, action, drama, twits, brutality, and more. This exciting new series is available on Kindle Unlimited to read for free with your subscription to Kindle Unlimited and is a great read.

Wow

Ok here we go. I did really like this book, there's just a few things that stopped me from loving it. One, there was no time stamp, what I thought had been the same day turned out to be the next day or even days. Two, not sure why her parents are in here. If it was her mom, then why was she there? Why did her sister try to cover for her? What about her dad? Did he even notice she was gone for sixteen days? Three, as the book went on there seemed to be more typos. Last but not least, why the repeating of names? Seemed like every time they talked or even around each other it was, "Coop" "Kelsey" "Coop" "Kelsey". Was it to help the writer remember or the characters? I know it's a little thing but it bugged me & asked for my opinion. Other than that I really liked that she fought him after he tried pushing her away. Would still recommend & warn the end is very triggering. Will read the next only to see Hector gets his. On to the next!

Let me get the serious part out of the way. A great story with emotionall scenes that may caused triggers, if you have experienced sexual abuse.
Once I begin reading the book I have such a hard time putting it down until the last word. I find MC stories entertaining, and this one has all the complexities of that kind of life. The story is well written and the characters do not disappoint, even the ones that ruthlessly bring heartbreak to others and bring tears to my eyes. All in all, the story is gritty, but with beautiful parts. There is great chemistry between Kelsey and Coop and I love how their relationship developed. I am happy that Kelsey had the support she needed and is recovering well after her ordeal. She and Coop has their happy ending.

Coop and Kelsey😍

Coop is the first book in a new series Reckless Souls MC by KB Winters and it gets off to a great start when Coop meets Kelsey at the bar one night, when she goes out for her 21st birthday🥳 They hook up and go their separate ways when a competing MC that is BAD news shows up. Not thinking much of it, Kelsey goes home with her friend Ruby and Kelsey’s car breaks down….😢

To ensure no spoilers just be aware there are some explicit non consensual scenes but they did not detract from the story in my opinion, just made Coop and his MC brothers more bloodthirsty for revenge😳 That said I do have two questions I feel are unanswered and they pertain to Kelsey’s car and Ruby….?

Other than that I’m intrigued by this new series and I can’t wait for the next one🤩 I received an advanced copy via Booksprout and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. First I would like to say that there are some strong triggers of abuse in the story. I wish this was mentioned in the blurb. If you can handle those parts of the story, Coop and Kelsey are a great couple. Coop has settled with the RSMC California chapter. He meets Kelsey at a bar and they do not deny the instant attraction they feel. They meet again and Coop wants something he never had before. One night turns into more and feelings start to grow between them. Their story takes a turn into a darker area when she is taken. Coop has vengeance to deal out because she is his woman. Their story is intense and emotional. I was drawn in and it had me needing to know how it would all work out. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Coop has chosen to have a nomad live for a while. However, he settles in with the Reckless Souls MC and starts working as a mechanic. One night Coop and some other MC members go to a local bar. Its there he meets Kelsey. Kelsey is out with friends celebrating her birthday when she meet Coop and sparks fly between them. Its not long before the are together in a bathroom stall. Coop tries to stay away from her but they run into each again when Kelsey's car breaks down and is taken to the shop he works at. Will something more come from their instant connection? Or will Coop push her away so she isn't in any danger from his lifestyle?

This is a great story that will draw you in from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Hot, Dark, Gritty MC Romance!!!

Please heed the trigger warnings. If you can’t read about SA, then you should take a pass on this but don’t go forward reading it then penalizing the author when you have been warned!

This is a great start to this MC world!!! I haven’t read anything by this author prior to this book and now this author is a one click author for me. I loved Coop and Kelsey. I loved how they met, how their relationship progressed and how he supported her about the extreme trauma she endured. Most of all, the steamy scenes were top notch!!!

The whole world was developed in this first book of the series. We are introduced to many interested characters that I can’t wait to read more about. This is going to be one of those series that I mark release dates in my calendar and pre-order the books for!!!

not what I expected

I vacillated on how to rate this one. It takes A LOT for me to take a star off.
Coop and Kelsey’s story starts out phenomenally. They begin as an amazing couple who meet & start off with fireworks. The continuation of the Reckless MC world started with such promise. I read all of the OG stories and was excited to move to the 2nd gen.
Please head any and all trigger warnings. I’ve read books that have contained S.A. before as I am a big fan of MC books. I even like some of the darker MC writers and series. However, I had to walk away from this book and skip/skim over a large section. This might be the most graphic SA I’ve read and that is saying something. I don’t think it lent to the story and was just too much for me. I’ll continue with the series and will read reviews before heading in.

First time reading this author. I honestly really started out loving the chemistry between the MCs.The story line was fast paced and fun. Girl who comes from a rich family that doesn’t see the world through rose colored glasses. Little bit of an age gap between the two MCs and the MMC is a biker who is considered a nomad. He travels helping other clubs fix problems. When they meet instant sparks.

I bounced between 3 and 4 stars! I settled on 4 bc the author kind of gives a trigger warning at the beginning. KIND OF! I don’t have a problem with triggering now saying that this book needs some TW!! There is gore, murder, but the worst is the rape scene that goes on forever!! And it’s graphic! I’ve read do rape scenes this one I skipped a lot! If you have a trigger don’t read this. I’m sorry for writing this! But I feel people need to know. It was brutal!

This is another great read from this author there is actually a prequel to this latest series as well

KB always writes books that flow well and have you engaged This one seems a little darker and more explicit that her normal writing so some may not like that Maybe a warning is needed It didn't worry me but then I don't have a lot of triggers.

Coop is born into the Reckless Bastards but in Nevada he will always be just be lasso's son so he has been living life as a nomad When he stays for a while at the Angel Harbor chapter he meets Kelsey and things change for him he has finally found the one for him even if it was supposed to just be a hook up when Kelsey finds her self in danger all bets are off

First book with Coop helping the Reckless Souls MC in Angel City. They need his help as they are about to go to war with the Iron Kings MC. Kelsey meets Coop while celebrating her 21st birthday at a biker bar. Coop and Kelsey are into each other and start a relationship. The Iron Kings find out that she is with Coop and he's with the Reckless Souls MC so they take Kelsey for leverage. The Iron Kings ten to abuse women for their pleasure. The story ends with a cliffhanger right as they are about to go to war. There is action, drama, abuse, violence, passion and steam. Can't wait to read the next book. . A great action packed read, but it has content that some people might find triggering or hard to read. Coop is a Nomad, traveling around helping gain connections in other MC's and deal with issues they might have. So far woman has claimed his heart, but that might change when rich girl Kelsey challenges and charms him. I love the scorching attraction between Kelsey and Coop, their gritty and griping story, and the heart pounding danger. It has heart tearing moments, and certainly stirred up my emotions.

This is an exciting start to a new series. Coop is a Nomad trying to find his way in life when he ends up in California and at the bar with his brothers. He has avoided being tied down to any woman but when Kelsey walks into the bat everything changes. She is there to celebrate her 21st birthday. They hook up and it was supposed to be a one-night bit better can get enough of the other. There is danger and suspense throughout this story as well as triggers for some so be warned this book is not for the faint of heart.. Kelsey’s birthday bar hookup Coop catches wings and becomes more. She is basically neglected except by her snotty sister or when something is required of her. Coop’s current MC is dealing with an enemy that fights dirty, using women and children and doing horrible things to them (on page FYI). Coop turns out to be such an amazing partner to Kelsey. There are truly heartbreaking moments for both Kelsey and Coop. I really like that Kelsey has goals and will not be stopped by her family. She is putting in the work and following her plan. Warning needed, but so good

So this story needs a warning for sexual assault, but it a good story. Kelsey is a sweetie and definitely not what Coop was expecting but needed. Kelsey shows so much growth and strength in this story. She knows what she wants, makes decisions that might bring more bad than good, however has such strength to put blame and love where needed and people in their places. Reading how Coop falls and falls hard, but protects and shows his love to Kelsey was worth having to skip the assault scenes. I worried going jn and wish it wasn't so graphic that had to skim fast, but the the rest of the book made it worth the risk.

It was supposed to be 1 night

I read this via my ku subscription and am leaving my review voluntarily. It is book 1 in the Reckless Souls MC series.

Triggers:
violence, rape, murder

Spoilers:
Kelsey, celebrating 21 and out for a good time with her bf when she meets Coop. It's supposed to be a 1 and done. She has her life planned out.

Coop, a nomad/member for the Reckless Souls MC, he is out with the guys when he spots Kelsey. Thinking she's just a college rich girl out for a walk on the wild side, he's happy to oblige.

Attraction. Sexy time. Violence. Tragedy. Coop is determined to help Kelsey no matter what.

story/realism: 4⭐
kelsey: 3.5⭐
coop: 3.5⭐
