All Jocked Up

Rate this book
Being knocked up at my age with a younger mate was definitely not a part of my plans.

The Professor
There’s nothing I hate more than jocks joining my class thinking it’s going to be a free ride. Linebacker Tristan MacMahon is the worst of them all. He’s a jock, failing my course, and the mate I have no intention of spending the rest of my life with. But, when one night in my younger alpha’s arms leaves me knocked up, all my secrets come tumbling out.

The Linebacker

Choosing Napoleon and the French Revolution as an elective this semester is my first big mistake. The second is crushing hard on Professor Murphy when he’s off limits in more ways than one. He’s twice my age and an alpha just like me. Or so he says. But how does he explain becoming accidentally pregnant with my child? Fate might have chosen him for me, but can I get him to choose me to be his lifelong mate?

All jocked up is the perfect forbidden age/gap romance. I love how the story has all of the elements for a great forbidden romance. All Jocked Up is a fated mates story between a professor and a student, and hidden biological secret all within an Omegaverse. Because of all of these elements, All Jocked Up ending up being an intensely dramatic, exciting and highly addictive romance that I could not put down.

All Jocked Up features a star quarterback alpha, Tristan, who is struggling to pass his college course due to his impossible grouchy "secret" omega professor, Barry. They both have a connection that at first appears to only be animosity that quickly progresses into a forbidden affair that could permanently alter their lives if discovered.

There are other fun surprises along the way that increase the complications within this forbidden relationship. I loved this story and cannot wait for the next one from this author.

I am not so sure if the ending was what I wanted for Barry. Like he cared to much about his work, for 44 years he didn’t want to make a family and everything, and then he ended up being a dad full time. Which is totally valid, don’t get me wrong, it just didn’t feel as valid for him to me.

* Fyi about 🌶️ levels: I rate spice on a combination of quantity, quality, length, intensity and explicitness of the scenes. Kınks are listed separately and generally do not directly affect the steam level to keep it fair for non kınky books.

The sturdy professor gets weak when his alpha student Tristan is near, he loses slick and wants things he can’t have, first Tristan is a student, second he's twenty-two, half his age, way too young, third Barry hates jocks and Tristan is one. Also, Barry is an omega but presents himself as alpha, using daily suppressants.

His professor is everything he wants, pity he’s an alpha, he’s the man he imagines when he’s jerking off.
When Barry gives in to his urges to get Tristan in bed, Tristan gives him everything he could hope for.
Everything and much much more. Yup, he got pregnant.

Gosh, I read this story in one sit, only stop to eat and drink something. I adored Tristan and Barry. They were such a great pair, very committed and dedicated. Some forces wanted to thwart their future, but in the end, everything worked out well. Thanks to Tristan’s determination!
There’s a good story about their work and private lives. With a super focus on their relationship.
Both men were quite lovable and nicely portrayed. The story was well developed, very entertaining and a joy to read, with all the good feelings!

UPDATED THOUGHTS (4/22/2022)

As I was thinking about this book more and talking with friends, I dropped my 4.5 to a 3/5 because I ran into some issues that I think are worth talking about. Note, I do not think that Holmes did this intentionally. What I believe happened is that she really leaned into the 'secret omega' aspect, what that looks like, and ended up making too close to reality parallels that have wandered into TERF rhetoric. Note, I am a transmasc person who has undergone aspects of medical transition and so I'm speaking from my lived experience.

The professor is an omega but has pretended to be an alpha. We know secondary gender transition exists in this world (apparently you have to have official documentation of this?), where omegas transition and are alphas etc. Anyway, he is on experimental medicine that is basically real world HRT (voice changing, hair growth, muscle development, heatpause, the whole nine yards), and he talks about how it's not because he feels he is an alpha. Instead, he did it to get an upperhand in his profession and be able to access tenure. So, using transitioning resources and falsifying documents saying he is a trans alpha (or maybe a cis alpha? It wasn't explicitly clear) basically, allowing him to gain those privileges. This feels like those weird TERF arguments that trans men are traitors or just women trying to get access to male privilege bc misogyny is too difficult or whatever, like that a trans person would be received well once taking steps to transition. Its not like stealth trans men don't have access to privilege if assumed to be cis men, but there are complex nuances of not just interactions between humans but still interactions between institutions.

Its not like he chooses to ever de-transition though he stops taking his HRT, there's not really any internal dialogue on his feelings of being perceived as an alpha except that he is protective over omega rights in general and that he did this to avoid oppression in his career of choice. I get that people Do What They Need To Do, but it's like weird commentary of just how much parallel there is to assume trans men wouldn't face oppression also in this case. Especially because the author calls the oppression omegas face "misogyny" in text, so it is not as if she isn't aware herself the parallels to real life.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

All Jocked Up by G.S. Holmes is an age-gap, professor/student non-shifter omegaverse romance, with a touch of animosity to lovers and of course, secret omega.

The beginning of this story starts with animosity from Professor Murphy, towards the star quarterback Tristan. While I don't like the things he said to put down Tristan and nor do I think it was appropriate (basically, I'd report any professor that acted so rudely), we learn that it stems from a mixture of protecting himself and projecting his personal issues with alphas and past experiences with football players especially. Tristan however is steadfast and we learn the history of pining and desire - and some inciting events come to an explosive height, and the truth comes out: they are fated.

Barry, we learn, has been falsifying his identity as an alpha to get an upperhand in his career and avoid discriminations omegas face. There are mixed opinions on this within the narrative, and I found it interesting how the discussion of those hormones and effects mirrored a discussion around HRT -- though, it is made clear it is not that Barry is a trans Alpha. He is a history professor, a stickler for control, and uses his sharp wit to push people away. Meanwhile, Tristan is a jock who has different sort of intelligence than book smarts, but he is dedicated nonetheless. And once he is dedicated, he is in it, proving everything he can with Barry. We learn about family struggles for both of them, and how they support each other through this. There are some swoony quotes, hot sex scenes, and touching moments.

Various themes are touched on here - difficulty with academics, discrimination within the workplace and that which is latent oppression, sheltering, grief, expectations. There is a particular thread left hanging in regards to Barry's career by the end which I wish was addressed, but otherwise, these issues are handled with career. The epilogue is quite sweet and there is even a discussion about parenting and growing a family that was very thoughtful.

I have a couple of nitpicks - Holmes uses misogyny to describe the discrimination omegas face. Yes, often omegaverse uses the types of real-life discrimination women face, and I don't necessarily have an issue with this (as long as it is handled with care, of course). However, there are women in this universe, so why not use a different term? I think "omegaphobia" would honestly be a better term. It's only used once, but I just think it should be edited.

Despite that little nitpick though, and some beats that I felt dragged just a touch, I'm glad to have an opportunity to read this, and highly recommend it.

I received a copy of this book from the author, and this is my honest review.

I enjoyed this story so much! It was exactly what I expected and more, always love Older Omega & Younger alpha. These two were a lot of fun, with the push/pull between them - instant attraction and amazing chemistry.

I liked that Barry stuck his ground even once they're mated. He didn't allow himself to be seen as any less and he still followed his goals, his love for his work. As he struggled to accept the relationship and the life he'd made for himself with the faked alpha scent. He had so much inner strength and made me smile, while he found his way forward with Tristan into a new life.

Tristan is lovely and almost too perfect, but so easy to adore him and his admiration for Barry from start to finish. Even with Barry's original attitude toward him, it was fun to see how he lusted after Barry and didn't want anyone else. His just so cute! Very caring and protective too, his instincts and wanting to help everyone.

I enjoyed their romance so much, it may come across insta but they took a while to reveal feelings as got to know each other. Both haven't had an easy life and they learn from one another, standing up for themselves and their love.

The steam is high and full of passion throughout, Barry & Tristan just carry a lot of heat together. So much attraction between them and I was swept up in their love, all of the kisses and lingering moments together - as their relationship is hidden for a while, it made the moments even sweeter.

The side cast were interesting too with Robbie and Amos, along with parents who brang their own drama to events.

While some angst in areas from the age gap, pregnancy, teacher/student and Barry's hiding his being an omega. For the majority it provided soft feels and hurt/comfort vibes.

Overall I just enjoyed every moment of this book and it was perfect for me! So much care, attraction and adorable scenes with plenty of heat too. The ending is wonderful and full of happiness 💕

This was such a good read!

Age gap, professor/student, omegaverse, jocks and mpreg - count me in!

The characters were very likeable and most of the situations were so intense that I couldn't stop reading! I highly recommend this if you wanna get some fluff and feels :)

Minor problem was that I think the book was too fast paced, some things were left out while the time was moving. The book was dialogue heavy but ya know, I didn't mind it, it was sweet.

The omega history professor pretending to be an alpha to further his career and the football player/ student who turns his life upside down.

Barry is a college history professor who is immediately drawn to student Tristan and to hide that he is totally attracted to him he’s incredibly rude and antagonistic. Once they discover they are fated mates a spicy hidden romance begins but there are lots of outside forces threatening to destroy their HEA.

Give me a fated mates mpreg romance to read and I am there. Not to mention a nerd/jock pairing! All Jocked Up is a relatively fun age gap, professor/student fated mates romance but I feel like the villains of the story were kinda of the caricature mustache twirling variety at times. I feel like it had the potential to be truly great but it just doesn’t quite get there which is why I can only give it 4 stars and not 5. I loved the side story of Robbie and Amos and would definitely read more about them. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I’m so happy finally I’ve found an mpreg book which is perfect and not over the top.
All jocked up is a fantastic read which from the very start had me enthralled, I truly struggled to put it down.

This book had everything from cute loving moments, steaming hot sex scenes and lots of drama also the way that the alpha and omega identities were handled was perfect alongside the male pregnancy.
The relationship as well between Barry and Tristan is really beautiful and they have superb chemistry.

I’d definitely recommend giving all jocked up a go you definitely won’t regret it.

I really enjoyed this non shifter omega verse romance. An opposites attract mpreg romance between an older college professor and a young alpha football player.

Barry Murphy has been suppressing his omega traits to pass as an alpha and ease his career as a history professor. College senior Tristan is a football star whose struggling academically. He's also completely crushing on his professor, Mr. Murphy. Barry is going through hormonal changes and finds himself alone with Jack during a heat session . This results in Tristan realizing they are true mates, even though Barry has been hiding from it for long as they've known each other. There's a lot on the line if people find out about them , their careers and their futures. But now that Tristan has found his mate, he's never letting go .

I liked what he'd done to me. I liked how determined he was to show me we belonged together, although it was impossible.

Tristan was a sweetheart who was kind and hardworking, I want to shake him whenever he called himself dumb just because he struggled with his learning. Barry took a little for me to warm up to because he's so put together and strict but then we learn about everything his hormones are going through and all his vulnerabilities. Together, they were domestically adorable. Tristan being a attentive, caring, and loyal alpha to his mate. The intimacy scenes between them are frequent and hot as hell 🔥🔥 I also really liked the little side story arc for Barry's brother Robbie and Tristan's friend Amos, I wish we had a novella or short story for those two .

"Tristan, please." His eyes flew open, and he stared into my eyes. What I saw there stole my breath away: such raw need. I wanted to own his desire.

if you're looking for a non shifter omega verse story with a caring young omega whose too hard on himself , a brilliant but insecure older alpha, breakfast in bed , off the charts steam, pregnancy, low drama , knotting, and a sweet happily ever after than All Jocked Up by G.S. Holmes is for you!

Wow! I sat down, started this book, and the next thing I knew, I was at the end! It is such an enthralling forbidden age-gap omegaverse romance with the added bonus of being about a jock and his professor. Yeah, it was completely my cup of tea! I loved the back and forth between Tristan and Barry. Add in a little alpha/omega twist and this was a blast to read. Some of the side characters were a little unbearable, but they weren’t very prominent. And of course, there’s the horrendous omega discrimination and some lovely misogyny thrown in. But I loved this story!

I'd have probably liked this a little more if I wasn't distracted by real life. Younger Alpha/Older Omega is my ultimate jam and they're not done nearly enough imo. I'll probably reread this in the future.

love when the omega is in charge

Loved this. Loved that the roles were reversed and it was the omega who was the older person in the relationship. But I also love that even though the alpha was younger he was still mature. I loved watching this relationship grow, and become so secure. I love the different things that happened in this book when you find your mate. This book had the when would people find out part of the troupe but it wasn’t too heavy. I appreciate that about this book. L the writing was great the smexy was Hawt. There were a fair amount of bad guys here. The only thing I don’t like is the perfect tie everything in a bow ending. Not everyone has to get along in the end especially after all the hurt. Can we normalize cutting toxic folks out.

I really love the professor/student trope. I do understand that no matter what there is always a power imbalance in those type of situations and that even though we are talking about consenting adults the relationship is forbidden and for a good reason, but it's fiction and I appreciated that these issues were addressed in the book and that there were consequences. Also, this book is omegaverse and the fact that Tristan and Barry were fated mates made it easier to understand their relationship. You can't stay away from the person fate has chosen for you even if he is your student.

I had an absolutely fantastic time reading "All jocked up". There were so many tropes in the book that I enjoy, like older omega/ younger alpha, nerd/jock, secret omega. I couldn't put the book down and I ended up finishing in a day. The chemistry between Barry and Tristan was incredible and I loved the character development. It was great!

I loved Barry and Tristan. Tristan was definitely not giving up until he got his man! He was stubborn and even if Barry was a bit of a ass towards him at the beginning Tristan did not given up.
Tristan isn’t your typical college jock. He’s not self centered or a douche. He’s actually kind of sensitive. And he’s more mature then his other classmates and jocks. I really enjoyed seeing inside his mind. You could definitely see he was intimated by his attraction to the Professor. And Barry was not going to go easy on Tristan. He was a hard ass but he was trying to cover up his attraction to the younger student and a bigger secret.
I really enjoyed seeing the little miniature story of Robby and Amos through out this book.
I loved this book. I loved that there were multiple things hidden within it. And I loved the steam factor. It was hot!

I love a good book and this one met all my expectations. I quite enjoy a good jock/nerd - student/professor - alpha/omega age gap fated mates story. Especially the sweet ones. Tristan {the jock} is sweet and nice from the start which is unexpected from a jock honestly you can tell he is a nice guy and well professor Barry was quite frankly a jerk at the start but once you realise why he acts the way he does you understand it.
Barry has kept such a tight rein on his secrets for so long it was great to witness him finally brake and let Tristan in. I am honestly never disappointed by this author.

I received a ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review.

This story left me all warm and fuzzy. Such a sweet omega verse story about a frowned upon relationship between professor and student, both consensual adults. I really like the trope nerd / jock and age gap - but this book has a great different spin on it. The professor omega is a lot older than the student alpha- and I just love that the younger alpha is not a stereotype jock and the older omega isn’t just a grumpy man set in his way. It was great to follow the development and growth of their beautiful relationship combined with lots of heat and everything you want in an omega verse story. Definitely a 5 star read for me

This was a nice MM omega-verse with mpreg book. Kind of reminded me a couple of Anna Weinhart‘s meadow falls books, but with much less angst. There was some angst in this book but it was resolved fairly quickly. I really love how mature the characters were written. This was just the read I needed after reading the super dark first two books in the under his heel series by Adara wolf.

Tristan the jock was seriously crushing on his professor and totally fascinated with his butt, interfering with his progress in the class. Barry was his professor, his very alluring professor.

There was just enough angst that I wanted to reach out and shake them both. Their navigation of the forbidden relationship was managed with stealth and yet there were risks. The professor/student, older/younger man trope was well done I thought.

There were some really good supporting family and friends as well as some not so nice. Again, they were well done. I liked the story of Tristen and Barry.

I received an arc of this book.

I loved this! This book is an omegaverse novel with mpreg. This book also contains some of my favorite tropes: age gap, grumpy/sunshine, student/teachers. The two MCs were Barry an Omega Professor who is in his 40s, and Tristain who is a student who is much younger. Tristian is a huge football star and an Alpha who from the beginning has a thing for Barry who he thinks is also an Alpha. We find out that he has been hiding his designation for reasons, and the story goes from there. There was a little angst but it mostly came from outside forces. I loved Tristan he knew what or who he wanted from the start and nothing, not even Barry was going to get in his way. The chemistry between the two MCs is off the wall! I hope we get to see some of the other characters' stories. Like I want to know more about Amos and Robbie and how they developed.

Awww this book was so adorable. Tristan is such a gentleman and I love how he convinced Barry to date him. I really liked the forbidden aspect of the story and how no one could find out about them. I also loved how overprotective Tristan was of Barry, especially when he got pregnant. And of course, I loved the mpreg part of it too.

Overall, it is a nice book. Nothing too deep, but sweet and enjoyable. I am sure I will reread it if I am ever bored because it is just that kind of comforting story. A solid 3 stars.

This book was scratching an itch I didn't know I had.

The professor and the jock is farfetched, super sweet PWP and I enjoyed every minute reading about it. This book is NOT serious fiction in any way, but I needed this book in my life like Barry needed Tristan.
