Sarah Jamet has been writing stories since she was eight years old and realised she could get away with killing off characters and calling it “plot development.” She hasn’t stopped since. A chronic daydreamer and world-builder, she writes emotionally intense, often vengeful tales—usually starring women with scars, secrets, and absolutely zero chill.
When she’s not busy killing off beloved characters, Sarah works as a product owner in IT, where she wrangles software developers instead of outlaws. Somehow, this makes her just organised enough to plot full-length novels, but still chaotic enough to forget where she put her coffee.
She lives in France with her dog (who thinks he’s a sidekick), her son (who thinks he’s the protagonist), and her husband (who’s just hoping not to be written into a book).
Concept and world building are really good, but the pacing makes me feel complicated. The first half of the book drags quite a bit, though I didn’t outright dislike it since it took the time to build out the world and the relationship between characters. But then towards the midpoint and last third the pace just starts racing away towards the end.
Minimal typos but more towards the end, making me further think it was a bit rushed.
SPOILERS . . . . . . . . The female leads partner turning out to be the adoptive brother who helped raise her for the first 10 years of her life… THAT was a big choice. Yeah they aren’t related, yeah he hadn’t seen her in 15 years but we ALL know this is a weird trope. I honestly should have seen it coming with the earlier references to the whole ‘pure blood vampire dna isn’t like human dna and they don’t really worry about incest’ type stuff should have really clued that happening. But it just takes so much from the story. Sure I get it, we brought in the mirroring of mythology and yes I am glad that the prince wasn’t the default lead, but it really is giving me the same icky feelings I get thinking about a certain werewolf being fated to a certain infant. It just feels a bit wrong.

This was amazing. I loved this and couldn't put it down. I came across this on some app but it was surprisingly written very well. So many characters were written so well that I fell in love with this vampire family. Also, the romance was the best part. It was done so tasteful and it just was that kind of romance that makes you swoon.
This was a great vampire romance but also the found family trope made it all that much better. I wish it never ended and I could go back to this world again.
So... I liked this and thought it was fun and an easy read. And then one of the vampires that she saw as her brother from growing up with got involved in loving her. Then she suddenly was this magically ancient descendent from a lost line of vampires. Then she glowed and took over the current vampire King and his family. Then she was pregnant - which was stated is hard to do.
Talk about trope after trope thrown in there

Was absolutely hooked on this book since page 1! So glad Eleanor got her HEA w/ Alaric ❤️. The chapters are short but detailed. It, also, gives multiple PIVs throughout the books. I’m curious if Alexander will return for her now that the banishment period is over. Wish there was a book #3! Hope to see a story for David + Phoenix soon!

The audiobook was easy to follow as well as the story line. I enjoyed this authors different twist to vampire life (vampires can procreate and sleep). I liked the way the author made the vampires seem “human”. The ending really packed a punch with a lot of info and twists; some you can see coming but how it was tied in was interesting. Overall, it kept my interest and I enjoyed it.
I was saying a 4 star and may be 5 at first half of the story, the world building basically, but the second half is kinda rushed and I really wished the love interest was another character because I can't get over the weirdness in that relationship ship. 3.5 stars
I didn’t think this was going to be as good as it was, but I loved it! I wish there would have been a little more at the end, but it was good. Big fan of continuity and plot development.
This book kept me wanting to read more. Only thing that sucked was reading it via Galatea and having to wait 6 hrs between chapters. But all the twists and turns left me wanting more and it did not disappoint!!
