A vampire succubus created during the Black Plague, Godfrey works as a Boston paramedic and battles loneliness and exhaustion as he fights to keep humanity safe from twin COVID and opioid epidemics.
He has always pursued that which provides him hope—medicine, the cello… love. But yielding to his feelings for his work partner, Trevor, would conflict with Godfrey’s complicated moral code. Instead he feeds on sexual energy when he must and investigates a drug ring in his spare time.
But even a vampire can’t ignore his feelings forever.

What did I just read? The book just ends on a cliffhanger and there is no mentioning that this book is a part or a series or not. If it's not a part of the series the ending just doesn't make any sense. If this book is the first in series, it would have been nice to be made aware of that fact before I bought this book. I'm just disappointed.
The story is incomplete. Book ends mid-plot. There does not seem to be a Part 2. So… if you want to read the first half of a book, and have no chance to read the second half, go for it.
Book was pretty good, but the ending sucked. Leaving a cliffhanger with no indication of anything to come pissed me off. After looking up the author and seeing that he is a psychiatrist, I'm wondering if he was doing his own little experiment.
