Decent enough story line and writing. I grew weary of the heroine and her shenanigans. She was a bit of a fetus and had a naive view of the world. Not unlikable but tiring at times. Nice to catch up with Gwyn and Logan and the rest of the clans.

3.5 for the story
4 for the narration

I have to say; I really did enjoy this book. I enjoyed how Logan and Gwyneth made a cameo and you get to see the start of their family! They are some of my favorite characters in this series so I enjoyed the fact that they were so involved in the action after they showed up!

The book has a decent pace and keeps your attention as Micheil and Diana plan and plot to get her out of her arranged marriage. It did take me a bit to warm up to Diana. For someone who is supposed to be smart she makes her arguments with the temper tantrums of a toddler and she she makes STUPID decisions, but I guess she's desperate.

Micheil is a good male lead if not a little flat, but I enjoyed him. It seemed odd to have most of his story take place away from the Ramsay clan since Logan is supposed to be the traveler and I think it created a feel that this could be a stand alone novel. Diana seems to pop up out of nowhere and Micheil has barely a mention in the rest of the series.

That being said, there was plenty of action, plenty of good guy vs. bad guy and I have to say the sex scenes in this book showed more creativity than the previous ones ;-) In previous books I was starting to get the feeling the bedroom scenes were copied and pasted.

Good read. Check it out.

My Desperate Highlander by Keira Montclair
The Clan Grant Series Book Six
Micheil Ramsay has no desire to marry. He enjoys the lassies way too much. He may like a blonde today and brunette tomorrow. If he hadn't chosen to be a bachelor, he might consider helping out the damsel in distress who has been betrothed to a cruel man. So, all he can do is help her escape him and take her to find her knight.

Diana of Drummond has always been special to her father. Some—most—thought her spoiled. But, as he was close to death he was determined to see her marry. And the only man who accepted was an old lout. It didn't take long to find out how cruel he was when her cousins Alex and Robbie Grant brought her to meet the old goat. Thankfully, Micheil saw the man's cruel nature and helped her escape him before the wedding.

As always, there is plenty of action, adventure, and bad guys who stand in the way of the hero and heroine. Sometimes it's them who stand in their own way. This plot takes several twists and turns. I loved the secondary characters and I like the way the author always brings back characters from the previous books.

Micheil and Diana's story

I always find it difficult to write book reviews that I feel do justice to books I have really enjoyed without giving away the books secrets. The Clan Grant series has been non-stop adventure and romance for me. I would highly recommend Micheil and Diana's story, "My Desperate Highlander", to anyone looking for a book to transport you to another time and place where the men are the amazing ones we all dream about. Each of the books in The Clan Grant series have well defined characters, unique plots and unexpected twists and turn you most likely would not see coming. I am anxiously awaiting Keira's next addition to this very enjoyable series, and hope she decides to continue going forth. The audio versions that are available for many of these books are extremely well done and enticing as we get to enjoy listening to how the characters would sound and hear the correct pronunciations we may have been unsure of. Fabulous read!!!

Knight not in armour

The clan Grant series is absolutely brilliant and so enjoyable, it's full of adventure, conspiracy, a kidnapping and romance.
Diana is looking for her Knight to sweep her off her feet and rescue her from an unwanted marriage to a beastly and deadly man. Micheil is tasked to get her away from him and tries to help her find her Knight. What she doesn't realize is that the knight is right in front of her.
Follow them on their journey, and be prepared not to put the book down until the end as you'll be absorbed in it.

Desperate Highlander

Ms. Montclair exposes the most warm hearted stories with her Clan Grant series. Micheil and Diana was a worthy read with Diane being young and unaware of life's path in finding a worthy suitor. Funny and humorous in so many ways as she proceeds looking for her knight in shining armor. Glad that there will be additional storytelling of the Grants family tree. Make them humorous so I can find myself chuckling in the mitts of a story of Highlander's adventurers.

Cant stop.. have to read the next book....!

Kindle Unlimited Purchase

At first I did NOT like Diana.. she was too whiney, too naive.. but I grew to love her... Not as much as Loki but I don't think I could love anyone as much as I love that lad...this being book 6 in this series it's not getting old.. keep finding little twists that pull at the heart.. these are WOUNDERFUL books where men are enough of a man to love thier women for who they are and not what they should be..

Although I found it hard to like Diana, especially before she came to her senses and noticed Micheil, I enjoyed this book as much as the previous Grant Clan books. Another winner Keira, can't wait for the next release!

I almost DNF this book at around 20%.
The heroine really was "too stupid to live". I mean, not just naive, not just unexperienced.... plain stupid.
I skimmed through the first part and things got more interesting after the half mark.
It's a bit sad that the part I liked more of this book is about Jennie and not the two protagonists...
Also, was it really that easy and usual to adopt random children in those days?

This was a really cute story! I loved that Diana decided to take finding a husband into her own hands. I love that Micheil was helping her. I also loved the role of Aunt Elspeth in protecting Diana and being a mom figure for a young girl who is clearly missing hers. Also the plot twist! Didn't see that coming. Wild actually. I also would really like the King's love story. He's a frequent enough character that I want to see him also have a wife.

EXCELLENT SERIES

I have read every book in this series. I have given five star's to every book so far. Each book captured my attention. Every book was unique and I know how hard that must be as a author.
Unfortunately this book is like the author got tired of comming up with unique twists. At time I felt like I was reading the same material pulled from different sections of each book. I recommend that readers start from book one.

Not every book can be top shelf. There wasn't enough character development in this book. I found I had to pause quite a bit and run through who was who and which child belonged belonged to which couple and try to remember what connection they had to each other. This may be just my own problem. I have memory issues. So to that end it took me twice as long to read and absorb the story.
I felt some parts were unrealistic. I always give authors a lot of leeway and without judgment. This is the only book in this series that was completely predictable at every turn.
Having said this, I feel awful about writing any negative feedback on any book. I appreciate the work and the courage of all authors. I know Keira Montclair was probably up against a deadline and unfortunately had to spit this out fast. That was the feeling for me through out the book.
Even though I had a wee bit of trouble with this book in particular, one must follow every book in the order written in order to follow the entire series. So I must recommend this book or the reader will be lost in the next book.
And I intend to read every book including the next series that follows the children born to or adopted by these tightly knit clans. The series is that great.
I must say I adore "Lucky Loki". He is in almost every book and I am enjoying his character very much. Well I love all the character's really. It's just this book that felt rushed.

Book Six of Clan Grant series

Micheil Ramsay, the third brother of the Ramsay Clan (related to the Grant Clan by marriage), has lost his heart to the fair Diana Drummond - heir to her father's lands and their Clan. He has arranged a marriage for her that she desperately does NOT want. When she is escorted to her betrothed at his castle by Laird Grant and selected guards, she finds herself being protected by Micheil ... from the foul and vicious man she is supposed to marry.

The story follows this young woman as she is forced to grow up and face being a mature woman who can make good choices for herself, and for her people. It's a good thing she has help!

Loved, loved the Book!!

Diana is promised to someone she doesn't want to marry, but her father wants her wed before he dies!! Alex meets up with Micheil on his way to bring Diana to her bethroled. Barron Gow is a cruel man who probably killed his previous 3 wives. Diana talks Micheil into helping her escape a cruel nana and bring her to Edinburg to find her knight to marry. Many things happen till she finally realizes her knight was right in front of her the whole time. The meet up with Barron Gow again and she, the Ramsey's and Grants fight to I still the Drummond honor. A wonderfully written book!!

Clan Ramsay Rules!

This book takes us back to the Ramsays to tell the story of the youngest brother, Micheil. All the familiar faces are there from both clans and we meet the Drummond clan, or more precisely Diana who is searching for her knight in shining armor. And aren't we all! Enjoy this lovely story! I did!

Immersed me in the Scottish Highlands in the 13th Century with the first paragraph and I lived there until the last period. Romance, excitement, a strong woman who will not change and a man who loves her that way. Predictable, but still fun.

You know what? So far, I've enjoyed Keira Montclair's characters, especially the female ones, but that's the end of my patience with this book. Please, take that whore Diana to Gow and let him do whatever he wants with this little whore disguised as an innocent! Seriously, poor Micheil, having to put up with a slut who gives herself away to anyone because she's "innocent."
The only thing I recommend about this book is that you don't waste your time and money buying it, and if you already have it, do as I did: ask for a refund and remove this book from your library.
BTW: I can't finish this book. Nauseam ad infinitum
The opinion I have expressed above is based solely on what I think and feel about this book.

I generally do not write reviews for books that I did not like. I figure my opinion is my own and someone else probably will like it. However, this book was ATROCIOUS! I sprained my optical muscles with the amount of eye rolls I did reading it. I have never wanted to slap someone as badly as I did Diana. She was so stupid it was painful!! I realize that Ms. Montclair is writing a lot of stories and I have loved the majority of her writing but honestly, this book hurt to read.
That being said, it furthered the complete storyline and it was nice to catch up on the other family members but I don't even care about Micheil and Diana.

A story set in the Scottish Highlands, pre industrial age.

This was a nice read, the main characters were well enough developed to keep the reader from getting lost. Some unexpected twists early in the story keep bit interesting. If I offer a criticism, as requested by the author, it would be to refrain from making it predictable and too happily- ever -after too soon in the book, and keep us riveted by the struggle between good and evil; desire and contentment. But as it is, I didn't put it down, and was truly interested in finishing. Over all, a good read!

Diana is the only heir to Drumond, and ever since she was a child, she's looked for the knight her mother told her she would marry. However, at nearly twenty years old and with her father so ill, she's being forced to marry an older man who turns out to be cruel. Siana is desperate to escape and find her true knight, so she enlists the help of Micheil Ramsey.
Micheil is a bachelor, but he won't leave Diana in the hands of such an evil man. He takes her to the closest town and helps her begin searching for her supposed knight.
Diana sets her eyes on an English Knight, but it turns out his charm is all a ruse. She ends up kidnapped, held hostage, and intended to be forced to be a mistress to the English Knight. Micheil rescues her with help from the Grants, and Diana realizes that her knight has been in front of her the whole time.
Thanks to the Scottish King, Diana and Micheil are married and return to Drummond to rescue her father and people from the evil chief that she was supposed to marry. Micheil has no choice in the end but to kill the evil chief to rescue Diana and her father. Before her father dies, he gives Diana and her new husband his blessing.
They travel to the Ramsey estate, where Diana meets her new family and discovers that she's already pregnant. A year later, she gives birth to a baby boy.

This was my first book by this author. The second half of the book was much better. I almost stopped listening early on. The heroine was so frustrating. I realize it was to get the naivety across, but it was a little overkill. I actually only picked this at random because I needed a book with a sword on the cover for a reading challenge. I think a different one from the series would’ve been a better fit.

Great story.

Micheil is working with Alex and Robbie Grant to escort his cousin Diana to her betrothed. Her betrothed turns out to be a vile and abusive man. She escapes to Edinburgh with Micheil to find her another option for her husband. Along the way they encounter many obstacle that add to the excitement of the story and their attraction strengthens. My only complaint is there were several editing errors, otherwise I would have rated this book a 5.

[Yay], a good book [again]! I read this through KU. While there are still the same annoying issues that every book in this series has so far contained- a man who refuses to admit and sometimes goes to ridiculous lengths to avoid admitting that he's in love, and, a girl who stubbornly and often repeatedly refuses to listen to good counsel to her detriment- there was little else to complain about. Overall a very enjoyable book! 5 stars.
