一分之一不死 [Half Immortal]

Rate this book
1. Yan Wei entered a black tower that disappeared into the clouds and accidentally entered a world inside the tower that was filled with all sorts of instances.

In the instances, there were puppets leaning over to kiss a statue, paintings of people without eyes, a pale and dishevelled female ghost with a mouth filled with blood….

Each floor was a level; if you don’t enter, you die. Only those who reach the top can live.

After Yan Wei thoroughly understood the rules, he found that he had a skill called “Half Immortal” —- As long as he was in an instance, he would acquire an immortal body every second day.

2. Yan Mingguang who was ascending the tower took off his glasses and held a cigarette as he leaned against the wall watching the young man not far away slowly approach the boss.
The young man was calm and composed. With one hand in his pocket, he used his other hand to grab the boss’s hand and carefully examined it. His clear voice carried nonchalance: “Don’t move. Let me see what clues you have on you……Hey, stop struggling. You can’t kill me anyway……..”

The clock ticked past midnight——–

The young man’s calm expression changed immediately. He looked at the boss with eyes filled with fear and turned and ran towards him.
Seeing that the boss was now charging over, Yan Mingguang tossed his cigarette aside, frowned and said coldly: “Let go.”
The young man clung tightly onto him: “No! Save me!!!”
“Not saving.”
The young man’s eyes brightened: “Thank you!!”
Yan Mingguang who found that he had already crushed the boss’s head, “……..”

3. One day, while the instance was being broadcasted.
The players who were watching the broadcast found that the thigh-hugging, weak and useless player Yan Wei had suddenly appeared before the boss all the other players were trying to avoid.
The audience: “??? Is he in a hurry to die??”
The next moment, the young man chased after the boss, shouting, “Stop running, I won’t be too mean!!”
The boss’s face was filled with panic, the audience’s faces were filled with confusion.
This was different from what they had in mind?

“It's intimacy engraved in the bones.”

I was getting bored about halfway through the novel, but I decided to keep reading; until the train arc. It's not like the train arc was worse or anything, I guess it's because of the translation?

I was reading this on mtl, and I can tell you that it was NOT a pleasant experience; it was just your average mtl, yes unreadable, but you could at least still understand what was going-well that was before the train arc anyways. I honestly have no idea what the heck happened, at least, before the train arc you could still understand the majority of the plot but, god, the translation in the train arc was AWFUL! Like, what happened?? The punctuation was flying everywhere and nothing made sense, it's really surprising how fast it deteriorated.

Though, you can't really blame everything on the mtl since, I honestly just lost steam halfway through. The arcs are a pretty normal length for unlimited/infinite flow novels, about 25ish chaps each, so, why do I feel like it was really slow-paced and kept on dragging on and on for 10 decades? Maybe it's because I didn't find a single arc interesting?

The characters are pretty cliché too, the only good thing would probably be that the MC and ML are polar opposites lol(?)

The MC looks like a fragile beauty who would cry at the mention of blood, but, in reality, he's cold-blooded and ruthless(as they say, the more beautiful something is, the more deadly). The ML looks cold and aloof, but, surprise surprise he's actually warm-blooded. The side characters don't really show up much, but I guess Lin Zhen and Yu Feizhou would be the one's that show up most. Lin Zhen is your normal tsundere friend, and Yu Feizhou is your classic 'nice' friend, with a pretty clichéd ability.

In some ways, this novel is kinda similar to GUEE(?) you'll know the reason like 50-70 chaps in?

I wouldn't really recommend this but, if you like unlimited/infinite flow and don't think that any of the things I said above are cliché or boring then, I highly recommend this?😆 It's a good read to pass time(?)

The plot was great, i love books with solving instances and with horror/thriller puzzle solving. What I didn’t like was their relationship and the ml as a whole. He honestly wasn’t needed in the book that’s how boring he was as a character. They had no chemistry. I am so confused as to how they started dating in the first place seeing as the ml had no personality or sense of self. I also hated how wishy washy mc was. He would realize the ml was hiding stuff from him, get mad, decide not to ask and try to figure it out himself, find out, be angry for about 2 paragraphs and then let it go bc “there is no reason to be agree since they know each other so well. What.?? This happened twice btw. Also,I don’t agree with the title choice. Cause it would indicate that being half immortal was important to his character or to the storyline, but with really wasn’t. For such an op skill, it was really under utilized. The ending was not good either imo.

Overall, it had great promise, but the main characters took away from the book itself.

Too long, too slow.
