December 28, 2024Soooo, I've wrapped up all three books, and honestly, they feel like they share the same plot, just with different characters thrown in. 🫣
I ended up skimming through this since it felt like I was reading the same inner thoughts, scenarios, and situations over and over again.
The only twist is that they had met ages ago, but he was using glamour back then. Plus, there’s a bit of ghosting from him that gives it this second chance vibe.
But basically, pretty much everything in these three books is either the same or really close to it. It became predictable for my liking, hence why I won't give a rating.

“The gods are cruel, are they not?”
Lo siento, estoy molesta. Era el que más ganas le tenía de la saga después de haber leído el primero y lo que me he encontrado ha sido una desilusión. Bueno, más bien una copia y pega de los dos primeros libros, lo único que cambia son los personajes y el escenario porque de resto es casi lo mismo.
Paso de hacer una reseña más extensa. Lo que vine a decir ya lo he dicho. No tengo el horno para bollos. Esperemos que el cuarto libro traiga algo de novedad.

This series is beyond thrilling, I love how complete devoted Kyven is to Grayce , the world building is stunning and vivid and I can’t wait to read more.

It’s ok. The story is nice enough, but there are A LOT of mistakes that pull you out of the story, and sooo much repetition.
We get it; Grayce wants nothing but honesty, she thought her marriage would just be for the alliance, she’s falling quickly, she is scared to risk being hurt again. Kyven feels oh so guilty about lying even though the gods said he has to.
One problem is that the motivations don’t feel strong enough. The gods’ reason to keep his secret from her doesn’t really hold up, and the depth of hurt that comes from it seems over the top - especially when she already acknowledged understanding that the tree spirit had told him to keep something from her.
He lied, but for reasons that are easy to comprehend. She’s holding this on the same level of betrayal as her father’s affair and having a child with someone else. It’s not that deep.
There’s also a bunch of issues that an editor should have fixed; a paragraph that is repeated, tense mixes that confuse sentences, and silly errors like using an adjective twice in the same sentence.
Overall, it’s a light romance story that’s nice enough but nothing to rave over. It’s been a while since I read the earlier books, but I don’t remember them having these issues.
It just felt rushed. I noticed the release date was delayed a few times and I wonder if that’s why there are mistakes and less of a coherent plot (weak motivations and a lot of telling instead of showing).
It is worth reading if you want to finish the wider series story. I imagine I will continue with them, just to get that completed. Hopefully the next ones will be better.

Book 3
It’s like she loves dragging these books out,not in a good way either. It’s the same in the beginning of these books over and over. I literally want to pull my hair out. What’s the point in having 3 books if they are 85% the same damn thing.So frustrating and a waste of my time!!! Their power that all three heroins have are identical,and they each get their mates power,and get pregnant the END 🤷🏼♀️! Like I said 85% all through each book beginning to end SMH!!!!

Deja vu again
Completely anticlimactic and another dull and unimaginative story in this series. Its as if the author took the outline of the first book and wrote the story two more times with different character names. Its the same scenes, the same descriptions foe every single act and even the battles are the exact same. I could scream for the waste of time it was to read. Even the steamy scenarios not only use the exact same words to describe from body parts to the sensations, to the step by step build up to the final culminated intercourse. Again not even a good command if the English language nor imagination. Ms. Grayson should buy a thesaurus.

Grayce is the Princess of Florin and is betrothed to King Kyven of the Fae. Her brother King Edmynd keeps asking her if she is sure and she is because she wants the kingdoms to work together to fight the Mages and the Wraiths. The Fae kingdom is Anlora. Her cousin is married to King Aurdyn of the dragons- Freyja. Her younger sister, Inara is married to the King of the Dark Elves, Varys. There is another brother but he is not of their mother, Raiden. He is funny as all get out. There is another brother, in all but blood, the Wolf Prince, Lukas. I laughed myself silly as all of the brothers threatened to kill Kyven if he upset Grayce.
Kyven knows that Grayce is his Fated One, his A’lyra. This is a biiiiggg deal. As we saw in the other books, the women who are now Queens of different races are the Sanishon, the great uniters of Prophecy. Which also means the mages and others want to kill them.

Despite the fact that all of Jessica's books sound the same based on the description of the books, they are quite different and this was no exception. I really liked how the couple came to know each other over the course of the book.

This isn’t my favorite in the series, but I still truly enjoyed it.
It was very repetitive and the stakes seemed like they should be high, but they didn’t actually feel that way. I don’t really know the best way to describe it. It’s good, but I think the right word would be forgettable.
I really enjoyed the experience of reading this one. I really like the characters, I already really loved the world, and I love the writing style. I like the magic and the world building. I love the different types of creatures and how they interact. I’m really into the overarching storyline and I can’t wait to see what fate does to this world.
Overall, four stars for the pure enjoyment I got reading this. It’s probably a three star read otherwise, but I’m invested. If you’re interested, I recommend starting your Jessica Grayson journey with Taken by the Dragon. It’s where I started and now I can’t get enough. I don’t think this one is a good starting point.
There’s spice, but not much at all. Maybe 2 chili peppers worth.

As you wish.. When you know you know. Despite that, as ever the writing reminds me of those fairy tales that I kept re-reading when I was a child. To me it just has that magical quality to it and I love it.

Well versed with the ways of courts she is willing to bargain with her new husband. She will offer him the truth and attempt to build a real relationship with him. Kyven, King of the Fae, doesn't want to keep secrets from his betrothed. Most especially as he has discovered she is his A’lyra however he is also desperate. There are things in his past which he cannot bring himself to tell her. How can he ask her to trust him when he is not truthful with her? I have loved to watch this couple slowly coming together. The banter, the intrigue, action and the previous characters popping up. Fantastic!

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I absolutely loved Grayce and Kyven. They made such an amazing couple. Grayce was strong and brave and levelheaded. Kyven was caring, protective, and honorable. I liked how they worked together to keep on equal footing. For example- when Kyven needed to interrogate a trespassing orc, her wanted her to remain behind where it was safe, and she insisted on going because she was knowledgeable about orcs and thought talking to him would be better than Kyven's interrogation. It's not what he wanted, but didn't deny her right to be there and compromised that she not leave his side and carry a dagger. And it was a decision they made together quickly without bickering or he imposing his will over hers. I really liked their interactions together. I also liked the supporting characters and some of the banter there. A wonderful read and I can't wait until the next book. 5 stars.

Taken by the Fae King is a fantastic story of a human Princess Grayce and the Fae King Kyven who will have her at all costs. Bound to each other by a marriage alliance and surrounded by deception and enemies from within their story is one of emotion, sweetness, action, magic, political intrigue and slowly developing trust on Grayce’s part which will soon be tested by the secret that her king has not revealed to her from his past.
Seamlessly written with expert world building and intimate scenes tastefully depicted (which I found refreshing) the characters were perfectly crafted and pulled the reader into a story I thoroughly enjoyed as I’m sure all fantasy lovers will too!.

Dalsi zena z kralovsleho rodu Florinu je provdana za sousedniho ne-lidskeho krale, aby utuzila spojenectvi a zabranila valkam.
V serii se dosud hralo na osudove páry, takze zde zvyklost pokracuje. Planovana svatba a odjezd do ciziho kralovstvi.
Novomanzel svou nevestu zna dele, nez ona jeho, o cemz nema poneti a tohle tajemstvi jej ubiji. Nicmene je prehnane starostlivy, pozorny, ochranarsky. "Chrante kralovnu" je zde velmi casto.
Ona si pomalu zvyka a jeho pece ji nuti si jej zamilovavat. Ma svehlavou, statecnou povahu, ktera zajisti krehke spojenectvi s kemenm orku, za coz si vyslouži obdiv.
Opet se zde vyviji konflikt v podobe plánů řadu mágů s jejich Wraithy. Troska zahad a neustale posilování strazi behem pribehu a dve kapitolky konfliktu nakonec.

I had a huge break when I first started this book (last summer) and only finished it now over the past week.
I love Jessica’s books of the fairytale retellings and of this series too! She writes very delicious but not over the top intimate scenes! I love the wording she uses too. I also like the plot.
Only thing I don’t like is that the length of the books in this series is too long because there’s a lot of repetitive dialogue to me. And the dialogue in the other books is similar so that’s why I give it 4 stars. I think an author learns and grows and I am sure that Jessica evolves too. Really like her as an author 🙌🏼
