Buried Secrets is the 21st book in the Savannah Secrets mystery fiction series.
As the new chairman of the Colonial Park Cemetery board, Quin Crowley does not expect to start the job by hiring Magnolia Investigations. Two family vaults have been broken into at the oldest cemetery in Savannah, causing thousands of dollars’ worth of damage—and sparking questions no one can answer. Why would someone want to break into these particular vaults? How are they connected? Though the police have told Quin it is probably a teenage prank, he isn’t so sure. He believes that whoever broke into the vaults was looking for something specific. But what could it be?
Follow Meredith and Julia as they sift through rumors and legends surrounding the famous cemetery and try to dig up the buried secrets each vault contains. With few leads and over two hundred years of history, the cemetery could be their most challenging mystery yet!
Gabrielle Meyer grew up above a carriage house on a historic estate near the banks of the Mississippi River, imagining real and make-believe stories about the occupants who had lived there. She went on to work for the Minnesota Historical Society and loves writing fiction inspired by real people, places, and events. She currently resides in central Minnesota on the banks of the Mississippi River, not far from where she grew up, with her husband and four children. By day, she’s a busy homeschool mom, and by night she pens fiction and non-fiction filled with hope. Learn more about Gabrielle and her writing by visiting www.gabriellemeyer.com.
Buried Secrets is the 21st installment in the Savannah Secrets mystery series. Set in historic Savannah, Georgia, the story centers around Colonial Park Cemetery, where two notable family vaults have been vandalized, sparking a mystery that goes beyond simple teenage mischief. The key players are Meredith and Julia of Magnolia Investigations, employed by cemetery board chair Quin Crowley to uncover the motive and meaning behind the break-ins. Buried Secrets is a charming and thoughtfully crafted cozy mystery. With its richly drawn characters, Southern atmosphere, historical hints, and light romance, it offers a satisfying and uplifting read. It stands well on its own or as part of the larger Savannah Secrets series. I am rating it 4 stars out of 5. I especially recommend it if you enjoy historical cozy mysteries with a faith-tinged tone and emotional depth.
Buried Secrets by Gabrielle Meyer is part historical, a bit of romance, and lots of whodunnit. A great combination. Even though the characters and situations are fictitious in the story, the author says she begins with an actual place, real person, or event in history. [p-257, hardback ed.]
Set in Savannah, Georgia, this novel deals with mysterious break-ins at a Revolutionary-era graveyard called Colonial Park Cemetery, a real cemetery in Savannah. The mystery is solved by Meredith and Julia at Magnolia Investigations. These detectives are older, and Meredith, the main character, is dealing with the somewhat recent death of her husband Ron.
Meyer keeps the characters lively and original, as she hints at a budding romance between Meredith and Quin, the new chairman of the cemetery and a widower. Most of her characters have a backstory, emotional and real, and there’s a budding romance between Meredith’s son Chase and her secretary at the detective agency.
The plot is logical and believable. And I enjoyed the positivity in the story and the ending. If you’re looking for a good, downhome mystery with a bit of history and romance, then Buried Secrets by Gabrielle Meyer is the novel for you.
